Thanks girls well did I suffer from the donuts 😭 couldn't sleep last night at all - 2am I was heaving into the toilet not actually sick just totally boking. Eventually got over at 3am then DP alarm goes off at 5. Been sleeping on and off since 7ish. then had the pure runs 😭 feel ghastly this afternoon. Just heading to shops inneed milk so that I can actually eat something!!!

@BellaMoon It's so weird the food thing. Anything I eat - sure as fate the next day I'm like boke don't want that again! I'm running out of ideas 😭😭

@bakingmad83 oh let me know how the antenatal goes I would like to try that too when I'm over my 12 weeks.

@Ohb0llocks that sounds tricky. Is there no way u could hide it!!?? Big baggy jumper etc? Are u friend with his mum - will she tell him even if u said that u didn't want him to know??? Xxx

Ohb0llocks · 08/06/2017 15:25

@AmandaP86x I'm wearing a baggy jumper and don't think she noticed...

But, people are going to find out eventually!

BellaMoon · 08/06/2017 17:31

glad to hear it went according to plan @Ohb0llocks i take it your relationship with his mother is ok? will she respect your views if you're open with her going forward? i do hope it works out for you. you're well rid of him thank goodness and she should hopefully respect that xx

ooopsie @AmandaP86x no more donuts for you then! i now can't stop eating strawberries! iv had 2 packs today and just send DH to the shop for more. i have a feeling ill move onto something else tomorrow (no more salt & vinegar crisps for me, yuck!)

so iv stumbled across a lady on youtube who appears quite popular from the amount of views she gets. her videos are all baby or pregnancy related. she's done different topics like what not to forget for your hospital bag and must haves for baby (also what not to waste your money on). her name is emily norris. just thought i'd share as iv found them quite informative. she comes across a little like a know it all but when you get passed that but she's actually ok.

anyone else found a useful online resource?

@bakingmad83 please let us know how you get on with yoga. id love to give that a go xx

bakingmad83 · 08/06/2017 17:57

Evening,

Glad your meet went ok Ohb0llocks. Sorry I don't have any advice, but know how hard it is to hide it 2nd time round, as found I've had to tell people when I wanted to wait till after 20 week scan, as random people were asking if I was pregnant. Would she have issues if you left it and she guessed before you told her you were pregnant?

Hope you're feeling a bit better now Amanda.

Sounds a useful resource Bella, especially for first time mums. Haven't really been looking for anything online, but will let you know if I do stumble across something useful.

I'll let you know how the antenatal yoga class goes. Though tbh I'll have to fall in love with the class to continue, as she's letting me do a taster session for £12, usually charges £15 a session and you have to book in blocks of 5, which would be ok, but DH's shifts mean sometimes there can be a month where he isn't off at the weekend to look after DS. I possibly could get my parents to look after him, but it's an early morning class and prefer not to have him till after 10. If I continue I can probs only realistically do a block or two at that price, and if I'm honest I'm not sure I'd continue at home, so will see.

I'm craving cheese. Sorry if I'm repeating myself, but DS has a dairy allergy, so avoided it for 2 years as reacted through my milk. Still feeding, but I've given in and although a bit more windy and nappies a little looser, certainly no sickness that he had previously. Figured I probs wasn't meeting increased requirements for calcium without it.

Dollydaydream2829 · 08/06/2017 22:45

Ah ohb that sounds like a challenging position but hopefully she'll be happy for you and like you say, you prob won't be able to hide it much longer anyway.

Thanks for the link bella - gonna check her out! I've not really looked too much online, I've got most of my info and advice off this site! Whether good or bad lol!

Baking I'm also away to try an antenatal yoga class this Saturday. I'm intrigued and heard a lot of good reviews about them! Especially helping with breathing techniques etc

I've been struggling a bit with headaches recently. I've been making a conscious effort to drink more etc but not helping too much! Any ideas on effective cures or things to help? Don't want to take paracetamol every time I have one!

OP posts:
BellaMoon · 09/06/2017 07:34

aw that sucks @Dollydaydream2829 how about a cold compress across the forehead if you can tolerate it or across the back of your neck? there's a trick iv read about where you put vicks vaporub on your feet at night then sleep with socks on. it helps with a few things and i think headaches is 1. maybe just google if it's safe during pregnancy tho. my friend did it with her toddler who had a fever and it worked a treat x

BellaMoon · 09/06/2017 14:34

anyone know what these ball circular thingys are called?

PMA Grads Thread :-)
bakingmad83 · 09/06/2017 17:56

Sorry you've had headaches Dolly, I've had a few bad ones too, but found all that relieved them was paracetamol. Don't like taking meds, but felt so rotten and needed to function normally for DS.

I found last time round breathing seemed to come naturally in labour, though I had done natal hypnotherapy from 32 weeks, which helped with relaxation - you can get a cd for about £10 on Amazon or cheaper 2nd hand. Will be listening to the CD again this time round :)

Bella, are they those light shades made from paper over wire frame?

Ohb0llocks · 09/06/2017 18:33

@Dollydaydream2829 I've suffered really quite badly with headaches!

I've been taking paracetamol and I have one of those forehead sticks too which seem to work.

Ohb0llocks · 09/06/2017 18:33

They're called 4head

Dollydaydream2829 · 09/06/2017 19:23

Thanks for the suggestions lovely ladies! I'll give them a bash! It's not a daily occurrence - which hopefully it won't become, but it's still a bit of a nuisance. Apart from that and some tiredness, I am LOVING the second trimester! I almost don't even feel pregnant! If it wasn't for the visible bump now.... which I'm also loving! There is light at the end of the tunnel first trimester girlies! ❤❤

Anyone got any scans/appts coming up next week??

OP posts:
bakingmad83 · 09/06/2017 21:15

I don't suppose you've noticed any trigger for your headaches Dolly? Don't think there necessarily is in pregnancy, other than changing hormone levels, but for me, bright sunlight seems to bring them on. It's not usually a prob and I'm not great at wearing sunglasses, but must be more sensitive when pregnant. Doesn't help that the screw in my prescription sunglasses fell out last week and I haven't been to get them repaired yet. Must make that a priority for next week :)

Moo31 · 09/06/2017 21:18

@Dolly I'm on the 4head (Well Head Soothe the cheaper home bargains alternative!) Have also taken the occasional paracetamol when I have a meeting or something when I just need it to go away but same as you don't want to take too many of them!

@Baking let us know what cd you have? That's crazy expensive for those classes although I'm going to go to daisy birthing which is approx 70 for 6 classes so not much better!

@Bella - def going to look up Emily Norris thank you! Yeah I think they are paper lightshades too - Ikea etc. I love the grey and yellow theme! :)

@Ohb sounds like a tricky situation with your partner's family, I'm sorry :(

Happy weekend everyone!!! 😀

Yes who is next for 12 week scan?!

Dolly - can you believe it's 14 weeks today since our bfps!?! 😮😃😍

bakingmad83 · 09/06/2017 21:25

Moo, this is the CD I got. There is also a version if you are planning a home birth and one for if it looks like you'll need a caesarean. www.amazon.co.uk/Effective-Birth-Preparation-Hospital-Centre/dp/1905220502/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497039606&sr=8-1&keywords=natal+hypnotherapy&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Hope you enjoy the Daisy classes. They were running them not too far away when I was pregnant with DS, but there mustn't have been the take up round here as they've stopped.

BellaMoon · 09/06/2017 22:30

thanks for the suggestions on the circle hanging thingys i asked about. ended up googling round paper lanterns and bingo got them on ebay for buttons! that's my first baby related purchase for the nursery. eeeeek how frigging exciting!

my house is like 50 shades of grey so iv kept with that theme for the nursery. quite neutral for gender too but ill team with turquoise for a boy and lavender for a girl. (see attached chart - might branch out and do a mood board hahahaha)!

anyway, hope the 4head works @Dollydaydream2829 glad they are not a constant! my cousins pregnancies were 9 month long hangovers, she had constant headaches and full term sickness too. i'm so glad that doesn't run in my family!

i have my 12wk scan on tuesday. i'm so looking forward to it but also a little anxious. guess that's par for the course for the next 6 months 🙈 jeezo a third of the way there already!

hope y'all have a fab weekend xxx

PMA Grads Thread :-)
Moo31 · 09/06/2017 23:41

Purchased!! :D Thank you @baking! I need all the help I can get to prepare me, I have such low pain threshold! It gets fantastic reviews as well, thank you so much!

@Bella your nursery will be fab! Our house is 50 shades of grey too 😂 I'm trying to convince oh to go for pale grey walls for the nursery with ochre accessories but he wants just white (boring!) and then we'll accesorise when baby arrives depending whether pink or blue... I'm not convinced.

Moo31 · 09/06/2017 23:42

Ps @baking did you go to the daisy classes when you were pg with ds? Would you recommend them?

bakingmad83 · 10/06/2017 07:20

Hope you get as much out the CD as I did Moo :)

Didn't do the Daisy classes last time Moo, as was able to do aquanatal (clashes with the playgroup I run now) and it was over half hour drive away and was at an awkward time, but they did sound good.

Hope all goes well at your 12 week scan and you enjoy seeing your little one Bella :) Just as anxious 2nd time round here with scans, but think that's only natural.

Off out for pub lunch with a couple of friends today - having some child free time, as the DHs are looking after the kids, so can concentrate on food and a catch up rather than running after toddlers :)

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

Sophsta · 10/06/2017 07:49

Going to look into that CD baking sounds good! I'm also really interested in daisy birthing and surprisingly my dh was quite into the idea too. I thought he'd write it is mumbo jumbo nonsense.

You must be so excited for your scan bella. Can't wait for mine bit it seems so far away. Although it seems like I've been pregnant forever!

Noticed my stomach is swelling a little bit although at the moment it's just pushing my fat forward. Confused Very attractive.

Dollydaydream2829 · 10/06/2017 18:59

Well ladies, I went to my first pregnancy yoga class today and LOVED it. Spent around 45mins doing yoga, half an hour spend focusing on breathing techniques and hypnotherapy type stuff for labour and the rest chatting about pregnancy related news/worries. It was fab chatting to other mums and I feel that after I've completed my block, I'll feel so much more prepared for the thought of labour. It's fairly expensive - works out just over a tenner a session but well worth it in my eyes!

Hopefully you enjoy yours too baking

Good luck for your scan this week bella and please post a photo! I love seeing them!

Dollydaydream2829 · 10/06/2017 19:00

Sophsta - I was SO bloated during my first trimester. Had a bigger bump then than I do now almost! Haha! Don't worry, it'll go down before it becomes more bump like!

OP posts:
bakingmad83 · 10/06/2017 20:30

Thanks, glad you enjoyed your yoga class Dolly :)

Ended up with food envy today at the pub. Really fancied fish pie, but it was v salty with a watery sauce. Made the mistake of trying my friend's prawn Balti, which I'd been going to have and it was delish. Never mind, plan to go out for pub lunch with DH when it's my birthday in a couple of weeks :)

I was the same Sophsta, was massively bloated in the first tri with DS, not quite so bad this time round, but bad enough. Hopefully your bloating will soon settle too :)

AmandaP86x · 10/06/2017 20:46

Hey girls

How u all doing?

I went to robbie yesterday what a bloody experience sober brutal 😭😭😭 people pushing and shoving u brutal.

I have kinda lower pains think it's the stabby vag but I'm so worried cause I'm the 8week Mark now 😭😢

@Dollydaydream2829 I'm the same so so bloated it's mental lol! That's good u enjoyed the yoga can't wait to try it!

Aww @BellaMoon hope ur 12 week scan goes ok. Can't believe it's only been 4 weeks today since my BFP!!!! Feel like it's been fucking ages lol!!!!

Three weeks on Tuesday until scan for me 🙏🏻

BellaMoon · 10/06/2017 21:23

what a great advert for the antenatal yoga @Dollydaydream2829 so glad you
enjoyed it. think ill look into that!

also had a nosey at the CD @bakingmad83 thanks for the tips!

i keep going from being absolutely starving to being so bagged up it's incredibly uncomfortable. hoping and praying for a
happy medium soon! also have an incredible thirst which is always worse at weekend. just need to try to stick to my work water intake at weekends it's just so difficult!

rant alert
went out for lunch with MIL today. only see her once a fortnight or so. she's as mad as a
brush and i love her very much BUT she has a partner who i cannot stand. his chat over a lovely lunch today was so controversial that i had to leave the table. he thinks nothing of referring to race religion and politics and i'm not shy of debate but by god he is so racist, sexist and downright rude he almost ruined my lasagne. note i said almost! the lasagne was delightful hehe. he started talking about one of our scottish politicians who happens to be a lesbian. he actually said she is "a fucking dyke who needs a good man to take her up a close to sort her out" (a close is a passageway between terraced houses just incase hehe). to say i was furious was an understatement! MIL and DH stared at me as i slammed my fork down on the table and went to the loo. by the time i came back i could sense a horrible atmosphere. ignorant bastard went to the loo and MIL leaned in and said "don't worry, DH had a word". anyway on drive home i asked DH what he had said and he calmly looks at me and says "i just pointed out that perhaps it was him needing taken up a close and sorted out instead" now he's 75yo but a substantial man, not frail at all. i do have respect for my elders but how can you respect a man who thinks these things? iv called MIL to apologise incase it was awkward and she apologised to me for his comments. she's more like a carer to this man, she feels sorry for him and there's no romance at all between them. he has no family to speak of and relies heavily on MIL. just wish she could cut ties but i fear she's worried about being lonely.

needless to say DH and i have spoke about this most of the day. DH threatening to never allow him in the company of our child etc. (this isn't the first time he has caused outrage btw). as much as i agree i don't
feel like we need to go full steam ahead as yet. definitely think we will be doing our best to see MIL on her own in future though!

anyhoo, hope you all had a less eventful saturday than me!

Moo31 · 11/06/2017 09:12

Oh @Bella he sounds very ignorant and narrow minded. There are differences between generations but that's just ridiculous! I'm glad you didn't let him ruin your lasagne 😉

@Dolly - I am definitely going to look into antenatal yoga it sounds brilliant!!

@Baking hate it when that happens grr! Hopefully it will still be on the menu when you go back! Hope you had a lovely catch up with your friends

@Soph I'm with the others on the 1st tri bloat!! It will pass.

I had a busy day yesterday - a 5 mile sponsored walk for NI Hospice with my mum, a lovely lunch, oh won his golf championship so was pissed celebrating when I got home and then a house party at our neighbours next door. The way our houses are laid out is strange - we sort of back onto their cul de sac so we're a bit out of it and have only seen the people in the cul de sac a few times since we moved in 2 years ago so it was lovely to spend an evening with them all properly getting to know them and telling them our news while I sipped on non alcoholic wine! We left at 11 (at oh request as he was feeling worse for wear, I was fine and could have stayed longer but he used me as an excuse lol!)

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday 😃
