We're going to find out gender hopefully at 20 week scan - think it'll be nice for DS to know if he's having a little brother or sister :) Not sure if there's anywhere vaguely local that does private scans, as we're rural round here, but I'm a SAHM (meant to be doing a bit of freelance work in the evening, but it rarely happens) so don't have spare money for extras at the mo.

Anna2006 · 03/06/2017 09:40

@Dolly and @Moo wow can't believe how quick all that time has gone. It felt like an age for me but as if you're that far already! So exciting! Have you been buying much??

I'm good thanks Moo feeling positive about this pregnancy an that this is meant to be our time 😊

I feel like I'm only at the starting block and going soooo slowly! Only been a week since I got my very faint positive. 4+4. Eugh SLOW lol.

Think my due date is around early Feb. But trying not to think that far ahead. We will deff be having a surprise for the sex. DH was adamant last time he didn't want to know & wanted a surprise which I thought was cute but I really wanted to know to shop! Haha

But this time round I think we've waited a year for this to come back around. I can wait another 8 months to know what sex we're having. So DH gets his wish 😊😊

bakingmad83 · 03/06/2017 20:31

Hope everyone's had a good day and not struggling too much with pregnancy symptoms.

A sunny one here. DH working, so took DS to a nearby town to go to a different park and for a riverside walk (more of a carry tbh!). Then round my parents' this afternoon to let me get a proper walk in.

I started buying things around 20 weeks 1st time round and luckily we still have all DS's things. Have bought a car seat though, as DS has a fixed one that's 0-4 and managed to get one half price - don't think bright yellow must have been a popular colour :) Even if we have a DD this time round, most of the clothes from the first year were fairly gender neutral, so hopefully shouldn't have to buy too much.

Roseandbee · 03/06/2017 22:44

I'll be finding out the sex, seems were about 50/50 on who is isnt. I've been trying to be chilled out pregnant woman for the past few days. Trying to do other things now n not obsess over it, I work from home so I don't even have a job I have to pretend I'm not pregnant in for a bit of a break (although I am very glad as it's an awkward time to be around people that don't know)
My brother has two cats one is nice with the baby (well she's a toddler now) the other just keeps its distance.
One of my dogs is a bit of a grumpy old man but the other loves kids.

BellaMoon · 04/06/2017 07:02

thanks for the advice on car @Roseandbee hope you're keeping well😘

sounds like a lovely walk/carry with your little1 @bakingmad83 how fortunate that you'll be able to use a lot of your DS's baby things for baby2. my friend is the same, she has kept pretty much everything.

i don't really know where to start! iv written a wee list with timescales, like "pick pram by 20wks" and "get carpet for nursery by 30 weeks" but the list isn't finished. my head spins whenever i start to look into what i need/want!

@Anna2006 it really does drag in doesn't it? but then when i look back on last 6/7 weeks since BFP i think wow, we're getting there! im tempted to have a surprise rather than find out the gender BUT the suspense would kill me. i am terribly impatient!

busy wee day yesterday preparing for goddaughters christening today. that and the fact i took 2 naps! DH has a very slight case of lurgy and has been walking about dragging his knuckles along the ground sniffing! i swear he almost got throat punched yday! he literally has the sniffles and you'd think he was on his road out! i had a mini bitch fit about how i go about my everyday with work, cleaning, shopping etc whilst being absolutely exhausted. he rolled his eyes. HE ROLLED HIS EYES! the man has a death wish, i swear! #throatpunchwakeupcall

absolutely devastated about the news this morning. hoping and praying for a better world xxx

BellaMoon · 04/06/2017 07:03

@Roseandbee cat not car! xx

bakingmad83 · 04/06/2017 07:27

Sorry your DH has a case of man flu Bella - really annoying when they do especially when you're struggling but just getting on with it! DS is pretty understanding, but always complains about tiredness and he's not the one who's barely had a full night's sleep in over 2 years!

We knew we'd probably have a 2nd so vacuum packed all of DS's clothes, but most of the other bits and pieces are still out, as still sometimes use pram and still hasn't tired of toys like stacking cups! One of my cousins was caught out and had another unexpectedly after 6 years and had to start from scratch again, which must have felt annoying . It can seem overwhelming what to buy, but as long as you have the basics - something for them to sleep in, some way of transporting them, some bits for feeding (even if you intend to breastfeed you'll still likely need things like nursing bras - bought at the end of pregnancy - breast pads nipple cream) and some basics to dress them in and nappies, you're pretty much sorted and the other bits like bouncy chairs are nice extras :)

Ohb0llocks · 04/06/2017 13:51

I want pate so much 😔😔😔😔

Sophsta · 04/06/2017 16:10

A rare steak for me. It's what I want more than anything.

BellaMoon · 04/06/2017 19:09

iv just spent the day at a BBQ in the sunshine with 50+ people drinking and eating lots of goodies like pate, steak, sushi. i had soda water and a cremated burger... but wouldn't change it for the world #tryingtoconvincemyself #itwastorture

AmandaP86x · 05/06/2017 10:30

Hi girls

Hope ur all well. Been nightshift and my god have I suffered !!!! Sick as a dog all day yesterday well actually not sick just pure nauseated 😐 not really lifted today either!!!

I'm nightshift again tonight absolutely dreading it!!!

I am 7+6 today according to my dates! Only 4 weeks until 12 week scan!!!

Moo31 · 05/06/2017 13:05

Amanda you have my sympathy it's not v pleasant at all! Eat little and often (even though the thought of it will turn you!) and stick to plain tasteless stuff - that def eased it for me.

I think my baby is going to be just like me and have a real dislike for Mondays - o was sick as a dog last Monday and the same today but fine in between!

What is everyone's nicknames for their bump? I want to come up with something imaginative brutal we have is "baby" lol!

Bella glad you had a nice (if slightly torturous day!) at the christening. Mine went well on Saturday - lovely to have everyone together isn't it! :) ps just throat punch him!

Baking - you are so organised! I have taken a screenshot of your essentials list for future reference! :)

Anna - lovely to hear your positivity:) we haven't bought anything yet - my cousin has a 3 month old and is already telling us what she will be finished with that we can have but I am also holding off until after 20 week scan. I am also horrendous at making decisions so the longer I put stuff off the better as it saves me having to make a decision!

AmandaP86x · 05/06/2017 16:32

@Moo31 I think it's all this sleeping/working at crazy hours that's not helping either!!

I'll have something and then the next I'm like boke don't want that again lol. Couldn't eat a bit of chicken if u paid me !!!

My boobs r still tender - see if he middle of the night when I'm getting up for my 10th pee (lol) I swear they r actually throbbing!!!!

I'm not buying anything either! I can't even think of past my 12 weeks the now 😭

BellaMoon · 05/06/2017 18:02

aw lovely to hear your christening went well too @Moo31 was a beaut day here too. DH has a rather red face hahaha #serveshimright

my little 1 is affectionately called Buddy on my ovia app. i think bean is common tho isn't it? my friend called hers "the bump" as in "the bump wants chips" haha. aye right you are, i'm sure the bump knows a good chip shop too haha.

i struggled to get my trousers zipped this morning ladies at 11wks exactly. is this normal? iv not put on any weight in over a week and it's my work trousers i wore on friday that were fine. i was hoping not to "pop" but have i feeling i might have started to develop. would this be the right timing do you think?

aw @AmandaP86x i like seeing you counting your weeks+days. i can tell every day means so much to you. has your anxiety lifted any? feeling shitty probs won't help right enough. again, think iv said this to you all before, hats off to any nightshift workers or even those with kids already. i only have myself to deal with and i'm struggling with that at times!

i'm impatiently waiting on my scan date coming in now. hope it won't be long. i'm soooo bad at waiting on things! would absolutely love if it came before father's day, i know DH would love that #needtolearnpatience

how y'all doing anyway? xx

AmandaP86x · 05/06/2017 21:26

Ahhhhh just typed a massive reply came out and it disappeared 😭😭 lol

@BellaMoon no anxiety still through the roof but I keep saying to myself nothing is going to change anything so I just need to try and relax and enjoy it. Well as much as I can.

Consultant was in ward there was scanning a patient and he said "don't believe in these early scans your not out the woods until ur 10 weeks" in like great mate cheers REASSURING! Haha!!!

I actually don't even know the statistics on having misscarridges at the same gestation? Know what I mean. I have had wee twinges tonight like right low down in my vag lol! Freaaaakking.

bakingmad83 · 05/06/2017 21:36

Evening Ladies,

DS was known as Roo and this time it's Huw - don't ask!

Still need to wee all the flipping time, thought with DS that settled in the second trimester, but maybe it's different with subsequent children. Blooming annoying, especially when out and about. Had a nice catch up with a friend today - Toby Carvery then soft play with DS. Only had meat and veg, as not keen on Yorkshire puds at the best of times and gone off potatoes, but still tasty. First meal out I'd looked forward to since pregnant, so hoping I may get over my food faddiness before too long.

Moo - not really that organised - just seen something similar quoted by other ladies on here lots of times, so when anyone asks about essentials I just come out with something similar :) But glad it was helpful :)

Amanda - sorry you've been feeling so feel. I was like that with food, thought I could fancy something and then would have it, but then associate it with feeling sick, so wouldn't want it again. Still off bread, crackers, meat and eggs for that reason. I didn't want to buy anything till after 20 week scan, though think I caved at 19 weeks when I spotted a Fisher Price rainforest baby gym better than half price on Amazon last time.

Bella - when you start approaching 12 weeks your uterus moves up into your abdomen, so you may well have "popped" as you put it :) I think I can only still do up all my trousers at the mo, as I wear everything as hipsters, so they're below my bump. Is that for your 12 week scan or 20 week? Didn't get my 20 week one till last week.

bakingmad83 · 05/06/2017 21:39

Stabbing pains in your vagina are quite normal Amanda, even though you fear the worst when you first get them - think it's down to everything stretching. Seen them referred several times on here as fanny daggers!

Moo31 · 05/06/2017 22:51

I'm freaking out. I keep waking up and I'm on my back. It's been happening the past week. Made the mistake of googling today and read that it can cut off the blood supply to the placenta. Oh has ordered me a G pillow but until it arrives he has barricaded me in with a wall of pillows so I can't move. Hopefully i get some sleep!!

Bella can you check up on / Chase your letter? I am getting impatient for you! 😂 I wore a pair of trousers to my 12 week scan when I was 11+5 and had to have the button undone. They were subsequently condemned to the back of the wardrobe lol. I have since bought over the bump smart work trousers but I'm not quite ready to wear them yet lol but yes sounds about right to me. I'm living in dresses and tights for work and under the bump jeans and leggings at the weekend and have been since end of April/ start of May which would have been around 12 weeks.

Moo31 · 05/06/2017 22:54

Baking those names are fab 😁 oh I love a yorkie! Had a carvery on Saturday - delish! Glad you enjoyed it :)

bakingmad83 · 06/06/2017 06:48

Thanks Moo! Hopefully that pillow will help you, but don't worry too much, as it's only if you sleep on your back for long periods that it's an issue and it's only from around 16 weeks when it's relevant so sure you previously won't have done any harm :)

yes @AmandaP86x i've had those fanny daggers (brilliant @bakingmad83 such an accurate description). explained them to DH like "sharp hot poker up my flower" but fanny daggers defo hits the description spot on. it's obviously horrendous being around early pregnancy issues all the time in work, you're doing very well considering all of that.

@bakingmad83 it's 12wk scan i'm waiting on. most impatiently i know but that's just me. glad to know things are moving hence the slight change in belly position. DH informed me last night that he tumble dried some of my clothes due to the torrential rain on saturday so that could be why the trousers were slightly tighter than usual BUT i suppose i better get used to it! also love Roo and Huw... too cute!

@Moo31 haha love that you're impatient for me! i know they always say it's a 12-14wk scan and i guess i'll just end up scanned to the latter end of that. also guess my scan could be clearer so get a better nosey at Buddy! but man the wait... jeezo!

as @bakingmad83 said try not to fret too much! i read up on back sleeping too as i tend to wake up on my back (not to mention going to sleep on my right) so the big pillow will definitely help going forward. where did you order yours from?

i developed a new symptom yesterday... sciatic pain in my left bum cheek! what the actual fuck is that all about? horrendously painful but by the time you stop walking to ease the pain it suddenly disappears! it's like "oh-em-gee lordy save me" but for like 0.7 seconds! don't know whether to laugh or cry! looked it up and apparently it's common throughout as our ligaments and hips move around but by god, it can do 1!

anyway, will love you and leave you as my tummy just rumbled and i can smell toast (which is probably my neighbour rather than DH making it. sense of smell has become super sonic lately... i can smell food that DH is only thinking about cooking lol. sometimes good, most of the time not 🤢) who can resist the smell of toast tho! #heavenonearth #willgetsickofiteventually #butohsotasy

bakingmad83 · 06/06/2017 07:18

Bella, I'd be the same if it was my 12 week scan, though midwife told me that with 20 week scan round here sometimes you only get letter at 19 weeks, so could be like that with 12 week scan where you are so might well be in the post on its way :)

Tbh toast is one of the things I've totally gone off! Think it's cos I ate it when feeling my worst and now associate it with sickness. Was same with DS, but post-birth toast was amazing, though hadn't kept food down for a day, so anything would have been amazing I bet!

AmandaP86x · 06/06/2017 07:34

Hahahaha fanny daggers actually howling but yes that's exactly what they are!!!! Lol!!!

I am just making some French toast on warburtons toastie bread and don't even feel guilty one bit!!! 😂

AmandaP86x · 06/06/2017 07:37

@BellaMoon are u not in Scotland?

I phoned central booking office and got my appointments over the phone?
