Evening ladies,

Hope you've all had a good day.

Had my 16 week appointment today. Was a quick in and out - checked my blood pressure, dipped urine, though also got to hear baby's heartbeat for a couple of mins too :) Also got appointment letter for 20wk scan in post today - 4 weeks today. Feels like time is flying 2nd time around.

Ohb0llocks · 01/06/2017 20:11

I think the myths about cats are just that. I'm sure you can get cat protectors for Moses baskets etc though?

AmandaP86x · 01/06/2017 20:45

That's good ur appt went well @bakingmad83 can't wait until I'm at that stage!

My eating is out of control lol....just had a wee cottage pie with chips and iv just put a second lot of chips in the oven 😭😭😭

I am going to be massive haha.

Iv felt shitty past two days 😭 feeling so anxious too I feel annoyed iv been put back a week 😭 it was dragging as it was never mind being back a week waahhhh. Sorry I'm just feeling crappy feel like I cannot see the 12 week mark ever happening! Xx

Dollydaydream2829 · 01/06/2017 22:21

Hi ladies,

Glad your appt went well baking I also had my 16 week appt today - happy with how I'm progressing. Didn't get to hear the baby's heartbeat - not standard protocol for this area but I strangely don't feel like I'm missing out. I feel bizarrely calm now that I've reached this stage which is mad cos I know things can still go wrong. I also have my 20week scan 4weeks yesterday! Exciting.

Hi ohb - glad you'd made it over to us! And glad your tonsillitis seems to be leaving you! Fx for a healthy time the rest of your pregnancy!

I feel your pain amanda - I can eat and eat and eat and STILL never feel full just now! Gonna be like the back end of a bus soon Haha! Trying to eat healthy now the nausea is gone but the odd chocolate bar keeps falling in my mouth....

Aww @Dollydaydream2829 I just wish I was over my 12 weeks.

Ano I'm just eating what I fancy cause I have went off so much stuff.

The worry is just getting me down but I just need to try & be positive.

What's your thoughts on exercise girls? I was a regular runner/gym bunny. My friend who lives in Canada - her consultant told her not to exercise until after 12 weeks (even though she did prior to being pregnant)

So my last pg I went to gym & then has misscarridge so not taking the risk this time but thinking once I'm over 12 weeks to do some body pump/ Pilates / yoga xxx

bakingmad83 · 02/06/2017 07:19

I'm a lot more relaxed too now Dolly. I know the stats say that if you've seen a heartbeat at 10 weeks the risk of miscarriage is just 0.6%, which I imagine falls even lower by this stage, but far far more likely that everything will be fine. Know I won't completely relax till after 20 week scan, but hopefully everything will be well at the scan.

I've got a big appetite too - never had that first time round until the last few weeks. Trying just to snack on fruit, but only so much fruit you want to eat! And you do tend to go towards things you didn't fancy at the start.

Amanda, sorry to hear you're so worried. A few us here were put back a week with the inaccuracy of early scans, but know it's still a worry until you've had your 12 week scan. I think the general advice is that you're fine to continue with the same exercise you did prior to pregnancy, with the exception of contact sports, so your plan for the exercise classes sounds fine :) Exercise wise I just aim for a 3 or 4 mile walk every day. I was going to sign up to an antenatal yoga class, but found out the lady charges £15 a session, which is bit steep when I'm not working.

BellaMoon · 02/06/2017 08:34

morning ladies

i echo what Baking has said @AmandaP86x regarding exercise. i spoke to the midwife at my initial appt as although i'm active at night and at weekends, i sit at a desk all bloody day. i asked her if i could up my game at night as that was the plan pre-BFP but she said i should start to do anything i wasn't already doing. all iv done is make sure i go a brisk walk on the treadmill at lunch as evenings have turned into nap time for me so i'm making sure i get at least some activity in. totally regret stopping the gym before the wedding as if i had kept that up in the new year, i'd be able to perhaps boost my energy levels with some cross trainer but c'est la vie. AND please try to keep the PMA focussing you on the fact that your baby is busy working away doing exactly what it's supposed to 😘

@Moo31 did you give the baking soda gender test a go at the weekend? i forgot to ask x

glad you both are starting to relax @Dollydaydream2829 and @bakingmad83 it's music to my hears as i'm patiently waiting outside the midwife just now at 10+4 thinking what if i go in and she says it was all just a dream!!! the things this does to you eh! i'm officially off my head #bellasbarkingmad

@Ohb0llocks thanks again for the cat advice. i had a friend who had 2 cats who rehomed them when she was due her baby so that stuck that perhaps it wasn't such a good idea but i will just wait and see. bella is maturing, she's only coming up on 3 so everything is a game to her now. i hope she just stays out the way of the baby to be honest. she doesn't really like noise so that should be a good alarm if the baby cries she'll go hide haha.

well ladies it's the freaking weekend and it's pouring with rain! great eh? i have my goddaughters christening on sunday and it's supposed to be a garden party afterwards with BBQ. please all do a sun dance for me! 😎 ☀️

BellaMoon · 02/06/2017 08:53

*shouldnt start to do anything i didn't already do, sorry! typo xx

Ohb0llocks · 02/06/2017 09:15

You're welcome @BellaMoon I'm sure everything will be fine!

So what are all our EDDs? Shall I make a list or has it already been done?

Mines 13th nov making me 16+4? I think ❤

AmandaP86x · 02/06/2017 12:29

Thanks for the kind words girls I just feel like pure helpless lol! I am prob a bit of a control freak and because this is so out of my control 🙈😭 honestly I think I'll need sectioned come 12 weeks!!!!

I defo agree with exercising but I am just so scared after last time. I am quite active though and with my 12 hour shifts I do 15,000 steps a shift nearly (also a Fitbit user haha) so trying to get in 10,000 a day at least!!

AmandaP86x · 02/06/2017 12:30

Also I feel like I can't reply well to everyone I read it and then forget whose said what lol 😭 then can't go back without deleting my message!!! Ha ha pls don't think I'm being rude or maybe there is an easier way to do it lol xxx

Anna2006 · 02/06/2017 12:54

I believe you can get nets to put over Moses basket and cots for pets to stay away! I have a cat and was it anxious wondering what she would be like although she is 7 years old now so hit older than your cat Bella but in general most ppl I know with a baby there cat stays well away as they don't like he high pitch crying!

Amanda even thought scan out you back a week , I would still count yourself as 7 weeks etc. As your appointments and scans will still all be based on the time since your last period and by the 12 week scan guaranteed you will of caught up. These early measurements can be off! So don't be too discourage Hun.

Says me who will have a break down once I get to that stage 😂 But still PMA to all you lot who are ahead of the game.

I thought TTC life was so. This is just ridiculous

Anna2006 · 02/06/2017 12:55

*slow not so

BellaMoon · 02/06/2017 13:54

@AmandaP86x do you use the mumsnet app? if so, when you are typing you can hit the X at the top right of the screen to go back and read the thread. whenever you want to go back to what you were typing you just hit the reply button again and your text will still be there #muchprefertheapp

thanks @Anna2006 it's reassuring to know i'm not being mad to not be putting plans in place to rehome my little bella #shesbabyno1

i had my booking appt this morn and all went well. my NHS board run a red amber green pathway for your midwife care, don't know if that's across the boards or not. anyway, iv been flagged as red due having had treatment to my cervix5 years ago and my DHs father had 2 birth defects (cleft lip & cleft palate) so i'm going to be consultant lead care for at least a couple of months. i'm not too worried cos that helped no1 but reassured to know that ill get extra care and attention as well as extra scans. hopefully the midwife was right that after a couple or months the consultant will be satisfied and i'll revert to an amber pathway for midwife lead care. glad that's out the way tho, feel relieved.

iv got additional folic acid and aspirin to take which i assume is in an attempt to prevent the birth defects. will definitely be googling like mad tonight! xxx

BellaMoon · 02/06/2017 14:01

@Ohb0llocks we did a wee list but no harm redoing it?

my EDD is 25/12 but 12wk scan may change that so hopefully know in a couple of weeks xx

Moo31 · 02/06/2017 18:14

Oh my goodness ladies I have gotten so far behind – just caught up! Mad May has spilled over into June … I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel! Urgh!

@Anna – yaaaaay!!!! :D congratulations!! So happy for you! Hope you are keeping well?

@Amanda – so glad your scan went well, don’t worry about the eating – I read that anything you can stomach / keep down in 1st tri is fine and you’ll make up for it with healthy eating in 2nd tri and that has definitely been the case for me! I do aqua aerobics, ironically only started the night before I got my BFP but spoke to m/w and the instructor and both have encouraged me to continue. I am an exercise phobe (aqua aerobics was my new years resolution – just don’t ask which year!!) but I am enjoying it! But as for gym I can’t help you on that … sorry! I also like the sound of pilates/yoga but I have a fear that I might break wind in some of those positions so that is holding me back! (TMI!!)

@Ohb welcome!!! :D

@dolly and @rose – glad your 16 week apps went well 

@bella

  • I am officially discharging you from POAS-anonymous! :D well done!! Haha!
  • Re the baking soda gender test thing – OH forbid me from doing it and tbh I love surprises so I think I will just hold out for another 23 weeks to see what we have been blessed with!
  • so glad your booking appt went ok – hopefully nothing to worry about but the extra care and attention (and scans!) can only be a good thing!
  • its my goddaughters christening tomorrow!!  #fairygodmothersareus It’s crazy that someone is entrusting me to guide their daughter! Haha! She is a wee dote though and a very special little girl!

I also met another cousin’s little boy on Wed night – he was born last Friday and was almost 6lbs. And is so so precious! They lost a little one 7 years ago and have been trying since. They had gone through 2 x ivf with no luck and had decided they would give up and then boom! First cycle after agreeing to not try anymore they got a bfp. I went to pieces when I saw him. Little miracle. Made me seriously appreciate what I have been blessed with. We are all so so lucky to have these little miracles growing inside us.

@Dolly – 13 weeks today since we got our bfps!! Where has that time gone?! All week I’ve been thinking once I get to Friday I will be 17 weeks and it will only be 3 weeks until 20 week scan but then I realised I will be 20+5 when I get mine so its closer to 4 weeks … 

Jeez that was a long one – if you’ve made it this far well done! I will try not to get so far behind again!!

Dollydaydream2829 · 02/06/2017 19:13

I can't believe that moo - it seems absolutely mad it was that long ago we got our BFP! I can still remember the high from that day! Couldn't stop cheesing!
I think we prob have our 20 week scan the same day - 28th June? I think I'll be 20+4 at that point? So exciting!!

bakingmad83 · 02/06/2017 20:06

Bella, glad your booking apt went well and like you say sounds like you'll get any extra care you may need during pregnancy. Round here you're just midwife led or consultant led, no middle ground. Enjoy your god daughter's christening - hopefully the weather will be better than forecast :)

Moo - lovely you got to meet your cousin's little one. I met a close friend's daughter for the first time recently - she was born via emergency C-section 12 weeks early weighing just 1lb 11oz due to pre-eclampsia. She's now 9 months old and doing really well. Just shows that even if things don't go to plan during pregnancy, there can still be a really good outcome. Hope you enjoy the christening tomo!

So much for what I said about not worrying earlier. Had a few minutes of cramping when at the checkout in Aldi today and obviously I thought the worst, that pushing the full trolley round must have been too much (which I know is ridiculous). Anyway, had to rush to the toilet when I got in and had really upset stomach. Never been so happy to have diarrhoea!

Sounds like even if you don't do extra exercise Amanda that you're already really active if you're achieving over 10,000 steps :) I'm rubbish at missing things people have said and forgetting who's said what. Don't have a smartphone, but that app sounds really helpful when you've got baby brain!

Ohb0llocks my due date is 16th Nov, so 16+1. Got my 20 week scan on 29th June.

Ohb0llocks · 02/06/2017 20:17

Ok so we've got

OhB 13/11
Baking 16/11
Bella 25/12

So exciting! Is anyone finding out the gender at 20 weeks? I definitely will be asking.

BellaMoon · 02/06/2017 20:34

🙋🏼 me for gender scan @Ohb0llocks what about you? ill be lucky if i can hold out til 20 weeks to be honest. there's a clinic that i went to for 8wk scan and they do the gender scan as early as 16wks! and only £40! i'm terrible at waiting! x

Sophsta · 02/06/2017 20:50

Hi ladies, been absolutely wiped the past few days so have been reading but couldn't muster up the energy to reply. Not a very good excuse really!

I had my booking in appointment yesterday as well and it was fairly plain sailing. Had to decide between two hospitals and that was pretty tough but I got there. All booked in for 16 weeks which seems an age away!

We've decided not to find out the gender as an added bit of excitement (because having a baby isn't exciting at all...) but am now SO excited for the scan! Checking the post every morning but no joy so far!

Glad your scan went well Amanda. I've heard of loads of people getting put back only to be put forward again at 12 weeks.

Sophsta · 02/06/2017 20:50

Oh and my due date is 5th Jan!

Moo31 · 02/06/2017 23:42

Yes 28th June @dolly! Grin

Oh @baking I feel for you! I alternate between diarrhoea and constipation. It's so unpleasant!!

Hi @Soph hope you're feeling better and glad your booking app went well :)

We're definitely not finding out the gender despite the fact that family are telling us we should! We both love surprises

Ohb0llocks · 03/06/2017 02:00

@BellaMoon definitely!

There is a clinic here too that I could find out at, but were skint at the minute so DP is making me wait. Tight!
