I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Mustang and everyone, much sympathy over what amounts to a prison sentence. 'This Too Shall Pass' - but it does take a very long time about it.
FlapAttack I think the foam - which seems to be a common and horribly surrealistic experience - seems to be connected with anti acids. I know I had it as a result of Gaviscon.

Oh really sorry to hear that flossy :( that was the outcome of my 4am cyclizine trials. I ended up going back to taking one late about 11pm and then waking up, drinking water, being sick then trying to eat and drink something. .. if I kept that down for 20 minutes would risk taking the cyclizine then and try and get back to sleep for an hour or so to let it kick in or if I had ti get uo and at least I would start feeling better ether than wake up feeling good then get worse!

But thibgs change every few days.. no trick for me has managed to stick. :(

Hope it eases for you. For.me it got easier with my first at 17 ish weeks and with this one from 19ish weeks. Still no fun but I feel less like I need to tap out.

Like mustang and people said before... just try and enjoy 10 per entry of each day if you can.. or whatever moments yu do feel ok. . And don't resent the rest. .. even when you're flopping around feeling sorry fo self you are still being the most productive ever... building your own new person!!! Who else has a job more important than that?! And multitasking is overrated!

I am home alone and not even feeling that unwell today.. its a beautiful sunny day and I am in bed with curtains drawn in my dinosaur pyjamas. I would usually feel bad for this but I really don't anymore! I have a good few years left to enjoy the sun! If I go out there I will be like the grinch growling st everyone and the bird song and the heat will.make me sick 😂😂😭

FlapAttack88 · 24/05/2017 13:35

Ah LucindaE thank you that explains it!!!! I did have a rennie last night.. I totally forgot! You're a genius

And I am a terrible science teacher !!

pippanippa · 24/05/2017 17:55

The good spell has officially ended for me. Well, it was inevitable wasn't it?

ChickpeaFarmer · 24/05/2017 18:57

Thanks for the welcome Lucinda. Unfortunately the vomiting started at about 5am this morning. The gp has prescribed prochlorperazine and ondansetron which is the combination I was on last time. I think I'm less than 4 weeks pregnant at the moment - due sometime end of Jan/perhaps beginning of Feb so I'm pretty anxious and upset that it seems to have started so early this time.

Melleebacca · 24/05/2017 19:51

Flap - foam has to do with certain foods. I have peppermints in the car to help with distraction from nausea when driving, and when I bring them up it's foamy. Maybe high powder items make foam?

Flossy - I always got about 20mins of relief when I woke up. Now the nausea is only after I eat, but for some reason my tummy felt best when completely empty after waking and then went downhill.

Mustang - we need to set up a hibernation company for pregnant HG women. Get a BFP, check in for 9 months of sleep.

Chickpea - take the meds asap, as pre emptive meds do help limit the ferociousity of the HG. I think that's the only way I stayed out of hospital this time around. Also, I found out about number 2 because of nausea kicking in, but I hadn't had a period after my DD gave up breastfeeding. Turns out I was fortunately further along than expected.

Melleebacca · 24/05/2017 19:53

Flap - Dino pjs sound awesome! I'm staying in pjs all day today too. I deserve it after the week I've had and tomorrow is glucose testing day. Ugh.

FlapAttack88 · 24/05/2017 20:33

Mellee it honk you're right about the high powder foods.. rennie would Def fit into thay category! I can't believe I didn't make that link haha.. I was confused as I eat the same 3 types of food every day pretty much so wasn't sure what it was!! The occasional rennie... so noe the new million dollar question. .. heartburn with no foamy sick.... or less heartburn with super foamy sick 😑🤔😂

Mellee and mustang I want in on this hibernation getaway. Sounds better than any other retreat I have heard of!!!

Chickpea and Pippa sorry you've had rubbish days :( hope you get some respite from it soon

LucindaE · 24/05/2017 21:20

FlapAttack and Mellee I always thought the foam was preferable to the acid vomits, grotesque though it is.
Chickpea Sorry to hear vomiting has started so early, but I am so glad the GP has prescribed a good combination.
Pippasnippa ...And sorry to hear that the sickness is back after a brief respite. Still, it is so often a sign of more good days to come...
Waves to LemondropMustang Hollyhop and everyone...

I think I agree..bring on the foam 😂

NonStopDisco · 24/05/2017 23:26

Evening all, good to know about the foamy sick from Rennies etc- fantastic trick for those still around at Halloween.

Please can I get in on this hibernation? I've been sleeping most of the day anyway, it won't make that much difference! (How do you do this with kids? Super Humans!)

Nausea gone, sickness back. Still struggling to bring myself to eat during the day, which is not helping the sickness.

Thanks everyone for sympathising about colleague- I was speechless, not a normal reaction for me, usually he'd have been on the receiving end of the acid tongue, apparently I have purged the acid down loo. All the other men in my dept have been fantastically understanding, without me being treated like I'm a delicate flower with no remaining brainpower.

Confession time. I tried ginger beer the other night. It took my fancy, please don't cast me out! I believe the way it relieves sickness by purging from the other end. I'm not willing to repeat the experiment.

Oh look, yet another essay! Will try better next time!

Melleebacca · 24/05/2017 23:31

NonStop - glad most of your colleagues are accepting. And the only way I manage the exhaustion with a toddler is by giving her excessive iPad time and going to bed at 7pm just as she goes down. The nap in the middle of the day is just an additional bonus!

FlapAttack88 · 25/05/2017 00:03

disco ginger beer is great.. and my son chose me a gingerbread dinosaur from waitrose the other day... my DH was laughing at me from across the room and I just shouted at him "not one damn word! !!" I won't admit this to anyone and you can't read it as it's struck out 😂😂😂

Borders biscuits advertised their chocolate cover ginger cookies on fb the other day and it had 4 million likes and loves. I did the angry reaction thing and I bet everyone who saw it was Hmm Whixh nutter is angry about biscuits !

Me. That's who! pass the ginger beer pls disco

FlapAttack88 · 25/05/2017 00:05

Haha oh bugger I am gping to miss Halloween season as baby is due 10th October. Thats just taken the shine off my foamy sick excitement

OnNaturesCourse · 25/05/2017 00:31

Ladies... Can anyone help me with night nausea and sickness?

I wake in the middle of the night and literally had to catch in it my hands the other night... And I barely make the bucket the rest of the time. Help?!

FlapAttack88 · 25/05/2017 00:43

On nature's course :( I have had thay a few times. Sorry I am haven't got much advice other than to hve a bucket next to the bed. I have got into the habit of trying to eat a full fat yogurt before bed with a babybel as I think waking up hungry has been the case of stealth night vomit before. having grapes and a capri sun by side of bed so if you wake up can quickly get back up sugar levels.. this sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I hAve kso found sleeping for shorter periods of time but more often helps but I have had ti be signed off work to allow this and have little one on daycare so it's a pretty haRd one to fulfil. I sleep usually between 1 and 6.30 and then 10 til 12/1/2 pm. Sometimes a nap at 3 or 4 isb if was short morning nap. Its a totally luxury ti be abke to do but it's been the one thing with most positive effect for me... sleep through worst of the nausea and don't sleep so long body runs out if glucose

OnNaturesCourse · 25/05/2017 00:50

I can only nap anyway, I'm pretty sure I've got pregnancy insomnia as I struggle to sleep then I'm awake 2-3 hours later - completely crazy as I wake still tired.

Now the sickness has interrupted the little sleep I had 😟

The usual food, drinks etc don't seem to work.

It's horrific and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!

NonStopDisco · 25/05/2017 00:52

Melleebacca- well, hats off! it still takes up mental capacity. Everyone says that they "just manage" because I'm guessing that's the only apparent way forward, but I was at one stage "just managing" to form a coherent sentence and tell my manager I wasn't going to be available.

Flap no idea what you said in that crossed out bit, but I'm sure it was nothing controversial Wink.
which nutter is angry about biscuits 😂😂
I'm sorry (not sorry at all!) that you won't have a unique party trick for Halloween! I haven't had any bad heartburn or anything yet, but I'm almost looking forward to it- adds some colour to proceedings!

FlapAttack88 · 25/05/2017 01:03

On nature's course- oh yothat really sucks. I was like that until recently so I am sorry if my advice was totally patronising. As inwoukdnt have been able to follow any of my own advice either except for the bucket :( how far along are you again? Hats off to you getting through this horrid time... rest hope it eases up soon for you

Disco haha nope.. Nothing was said there! Foam is white so may need to eat something orange or red for full effect. LucozadE?

NonStopDisco · 25/05/2017 01:30

OnNatures for a few weeks I was having a digestive in the night to sacrifice, that meant i wasn't waking up with a shocker in the night, but I still sleep with my tub.

flaps definitely a lucozade, or an off brand cherry flavoured one- their bright red and bound to be full of loads of colouring. Even a blue Powerade for switching things up a bit. Do report back!

OnNaturesCourse · 25/05/2017 02:09

Yeah I was eating plain oatcakes throughout the day and night to stave off sickness but they seem to have stopped working. 🙄

I also suspect I have...thrush 😳 Thankfully DP is not home tonight so I can run around puking with no pants while on covered in cream and eating oatcakes.

My pregnancy glow seem to have got lost in the post.

NonStopDisco · 25/05/2017 02:30

my pregnancy glow seems to have got lost on the post probably had a card through the door but was too sick to collect it.

Yep, the glamour of pregnancy- puking, piles and pessaries

Plain oatcakes- I haven't tried those! I've ditched digestives now because they taste all wrong and they remind me of being sick, nearly all of my safe food has failed.

OnNaturesCourse · 25/05/2017 02:55

Haha, yes...

Oatcakes have been really good so far, and are really good to pick at throughout the day. I would definitely say give them a try. They expand in your stomach so don't eat too many but good news of this as that as they expand they are less likely to come back up.

OnNaturesCourse · 25/05/2017 02:58

Can I ask.. Has anyone else used the pessary?

I'm 14 weeks nearly so I thought I'd be safe. GP tried to get me to use one in the very eary days but I refused.

FlapAttack88 · 25/05/2017 03:27

Onnatures. .. I have just woken up because of a night stealth vomit! 😭 I am sure it's these evil antibiotics .

disco I forgot to take my rennie so no foam fun either. The green shell of the antibiotic came up so it was a good Halloween practice session missed

So horrible :( up now with my blasted grapes and capri sun following my own stupid advice!

On nature's course . Ha I love that image you paint of yourself.. you don't get much more pregnancy glow than that you vomiting, pantless hero! I had thrush for the first time ever at about 14 weeks pregnant I think it was.. Dr prescribed me the cream and pessary . Think you have to go to dr to get them prescribed s pharmacist said no as soon as said I was pregnant . Worked within a couple of days.
