@Fela mine was 8 week, it will fly for you don't worry xxx

Brens13 · 10/05/2017 19:02

@Fela I'm 7+3 and haven't heard anything yet bar a letter saying who my midwife is, so you're doing better than me to at least have a date!

Jessiecat27 · 10/05/2017 20:02

Fela I wouldn't worry, everywhere seems to be different! My GP didn't do a test or blood tests either, I just had to wait which I know is annoying!

tinywithtoes · 10/05/2017 20:24

I'm currently 5+1 my doctor was not interested I had to do a self referral for my midwife who then called and I have my booking in on the 1st of June .. I'll be 8+2.

ew1990 · 10/05/2017 21:26

I'm so tired today! Sat in bed with a massive bowl of coco pops! Xx

Squigglefish · 10/05/2017 21:44

Are you feeling better @ew1990?
I look huge today. I can't work out if its baby or if I've gained a lot of weight or a combination of both! Sigh.

Bubbasmama2017 · 10/05/2017 22:20

@fela my first midwife appointment was about 11 weeks, it does seem odd no one wants to confirm you're pregnant for ages! I just keep trying to think "they know what they're doing!"
i'm going to see how i feel tomorrow and may call the midwife about this possible UTI, feel wrecked :-(

ew1990 · 10/05/2017 22:23

@Squigglefish yes thank you, I think it was a bug, partners mum and my brother have got it now xx

lydiangel83 · 10/05/2017 23:29

@Bubbasmama2017 yes they will give you preggo safe ones but they made me feel so sick.

@Fela my booking in was around 8 wks,I think their attitude is that if all is fine then they don't need to see you, but I'm sure they'd react quickly if something were wrong xx

Fela · 11/05/2017 07:43

Thanks to all for the reassurance :)

Moo31 · 11/05/2017 09:26

Hi ladies sorry I have been awol, glad everyone is doing ok-ish.

Someone mentioned migraines/headaches, I have been getting terrible ones this past week. I am 13+6. I have been taking 2 paracetamol every morning and maybe another 2 in the evening. M/w at my booking app told me I could take 8 a day for 4 days so I think 2/4 a day for a week should be ok.

Relief to hear about the hair dye - mine is in desperate need and I keep meaning to look it up!

I have been breathless too - I have asthma and have been taking inhalers a lot more than usual. I haven't mentioned to m/w as I want to go midwife led for delivery but being on prescribed medication apparently makes you high risk - but they said they will consider nearer the time. So I don't want to flag anything that might make them less inclined to accept me for m/w led!

I have only put 2lbs on and I am getting a bit concerned. I was very nauseous from weeks 6 to 12 so I'm hoping now I will start to put some on - is anyone else in this boat and have you spoken to your m/w? what did they say?

Almost the weekend! :):):)

Monkeypuzzle32 · 11/05/2017 12:03

Can anyone help with my question (above)? When do you tell your GP/midwife?

Brens13 · 11/05/2017 12:16

Hey monkey I called my Dr for an appointment the week I found out (4 weeks), got one for the next week. He filled out a questionnaire and passed it on to the midwives. I've just got a letter from them introducing themselves but no appointments (currently 7+5). I'd call your GP and just go from there. It seems the process takes a long time in some places so be prepared for lots of waiting for news whenever you do it!

THirdEeye · 11/05/2017 12:32

I telephoned my GP surgery after a scan at 6 weeks and the reception advised me to do a self referral to the midwife (they said it would be quicker). I then had my first apoinment when I was 8 weeks.

We had our 12 week scan a fortnight ago and we still haven't received our letter with the test results. Now they did say at the scan that we would get a call, if there was an issue...but I'm still quite anxious 😩.

I've not informed work yet and I'll be 15 weeks at the weekend....

MrsNemAz · 11/05/2017 15:43

Strange how different areas work so differently. Regarding the midwives I called my GP and they told me to self refer myself via the hospital's website, which I did. A week after I sent the self referral form I received a call from the hospital and my fist booking appointment was booked for the following Monday (I was about 7wk+5 by then). During this appointment they took some blood and urine from me and booked my next midwife appointment to discuss the results.
Also during this first appointment my first and second scans were booked.

I just had my scan and my results were posted to me within 4working days. Results all came back fine so no further tests are required.

I'm glad my appointments are coming along so smooth because I would also be annoyed if I was left in this uncertainty like some of you ladies! I hope it will all get sorted for all of you! Smile

Monkeypuzzle32 · 11/05/2017 15:49

Thank you all, I'll call them but I had a chemical PG at 5 weeks at Christmas and they weren't interested so I wasn't sure when to expect anything, 8 weeks tomorrow so I'll ring, hope everyone else is ok.

ew1990 · 11/05/2017 15:49

I got a letter the other day for my 20 week scan, on the 30th June, in a way wish I wouldn't have got it so early so coz it's going to draggggg xx

Jessiecat27 · 11/05/2017 15:54

Moo I hadn't thought of that! I had my asthma review and luckily I had a really helpful nurse who has advised me to start back up on my clenil so I'm hoping that helps. It ain't easy being wheezy!
Monkey I told mine as soon as I knew! They referred me but because I didn't want to go to my closest hospital I've referred myself to the one I've chosen. The GP might not do a lot, mine didn't want to do blood tests or even a pregnancy test!
I had to wait for my letter (a week or two) but because we're planning to move out of the area I've got appointments with all different people so it's a bit confusing! Hope that helps!

Fela · 11/05/2017 17:19

I'm very nervous about a chemical pregnancy. I'm 5 weeks on saturday. I suppose it's just a waiting game? And the further you get the less likely? This is my first ever time so it's not due to prior experience, but I've read other people talking about them..

Monkeypuzzle32 · 11/05/2017 17:50

Fela I guess so, my DH got excited but I didn't dare, I still test everyday with those strip tests otherwise I could be non the wiser, fingers crossed you'll be ok though.

I think I'll try and refer myself then, I have a scan with my private clinic on 24th May (nearly 10 weeks) but that's because I had my FET with them.

MSH2010 · 11/05/2017 17:54

Ew1990.... believe me it does dragg..... It's the worse period waiting between the 16week appointment and 20 week scan. I'm 19 weeks on Saturday and my scan is one week tomorrow. I feel so in limbo Sad

TheLionQueen1 · 11/05/2017 18:13

I think it's flown by! I can't believe it's been almost 4 months since I found out I was pregnant, the week before the scan seems to drag but otherwise I can't believe how quick it's going!

My 20 week scan is Tuesday after next and I'm on holiday next week so hopefully that'll distract me!!

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/05/2017 18:34

I'm getting really down about the weight gain today I've put on almost a stone in 12 weeks but usually the only thing that stops me feeling sick is eating toast or something carby. People at work have said wow youre really showing already and I think a lot of it is fat. Think I might try and stick to a slimming world sort of diet and focus on getting lots of fruit and veg in every day. Anyone else gained a lot? I have friends that are the further along than me who haven't hardly gained at all. I've always been a bit bigger than them though xx

TheLionQueen1 · 11/05/2017 18:45

I've gained loads and have quite a big bump (the same as a colleague 4 weeks ahead of me!) however I just don't care!! I've been waiting for a baby and knew weight gain was part of that so am fully embracing it, you wouldn't get away with it if you were pregnant so embrace the moment and don't put yourself down! Xx

mrsjkerry · 11/05/2017 18:59

@THirdEeye my letter took ages to come too. Don't panic. Some hospitals are just slower.

@Fela everybody worries...you'll worry throughout I've come to realise. I had a calculator on my phone that calculated the chances of miscarriage everyday. It was reassuring to see it drop as every day went by with no problems. I do still worry now, but once you get past 12 weeks I think you calm down a tiny bit about it suddenly dying/disappearing. Like @Monkeypuzzle32 I tested every single day for a while! 😄

@Bubbasmama2017 I've gained about that too. I was looking at myself today and I had a massive baby bump - like I could be 5/6 months! It's probably a combination of fat/baby/bloating but everyone's different. Depending on the muscle you've got there you may show earlier than others. Now that the sickness is abating I'm able to eat a bit healthier and have found the weight gain has stopped
