Not much use now Baby but could you maybe take a hot water bottle in next shift and just pop it behind your lower back for when you do sit down? Might ease it slightly?

Babyblues14 · 06/05/2017 17:32

I work outside a lot as I am a house to house carer, so I would have to strap one to each side, thanks for the advice though I will try it when I get home

TheLionQueen1 · 06/05/2017 17:42

Ah I feel for you, I'm on the road all day for my job and my car has seat warmers and they've been a delight when my back has been aching! Can you use any kind of deep heat spray? Not sure of the rules using it in pregnancy

Bubbasmama2017 · 06/05/2017 17:43

thanks @HannahD1991 i had it done and was same as usual :-)
my midwife said not to get a doppler, do you find it reassuring @thelionqueen1?

TheLionQueen1 · 06/05/2017 18:19

Mine said the same Bubba but she also told me she would be checking baby's heart beat until at least 24 weeks and only then if we asked, so I ignored her and got one 😂

I think they are great as long as you're sensible with them! We were lucky enough to hear baby's heartbeat straight away (14 weeks) and I can normally find it within 5 mins, now it's much easier as we get further on although he tends to wriggle away from it as obviously doesn't like being poked so don't catch it for long in one place!! Just be aware that you might not be able to find it one day and as long as you know that doesn't mean there is a problem necessarily as we aren't trained HCP, it should be fine.

I think they advise against for that reason, they don't want people coming in constantly saying they are worried they can't find it, as that is pretty normal!

I bloody love mine, and me and DH love lying in bed listening! We are off on holiday next week to Cyprus and I am taking it just for some reassurance whilst I'm over there!

TheLionQueen1 · 06/05/2017 18:20

*midwife wouldn't check heartbeat obviously!!

MrsB12345 · 06/05/2017 18:23

Thanks @TheLionQueen1. Out of interest how far gone are you?x

MSH2010 · 06/05/2017 20:05

18weeks today and other than feeling porky I can't say I feel pregnant :( had flickers on and off but not had anything as such for a while. Least my glucose blood tests came back normal this week
2 weeks until my scan - can't come soon enough

ElsieBelle92 · 06/05/2017 20:34

The only other person that knows is my boss and only because i was having a breakdown at work. I can't wait to tell my mum, I have a family party next week with my aunties (alcohol is a big factor, irish family!) and i'm practicing my excuses!

MSH2010 · 06/05/2017 20:45

I had to hide the fact I wasn't drinking at my own 30th birthday party. Thankfully I had a coloured glass so no-one realised it was just coke I was drinking

HannahD1991 · 06/05/2017 23:11

I told my mum straight away, I couldn't help it as I was in shock/over the moon! But now my partner wants to tell his parents too because mine know and he feels it's unfair to wait until say, 10 weeks. I want to tell them too when we get together next weekend (I'll be 6 weeks). Do you think it's too early at 6 weeks for everyone to know? When I say everyone I mean my close family and his - he has a HUGE close family!

Xx

MSH2010 · 07/05/2017 07:11

My in laws didn't get told until 12 weeks. My mum knew at 8 weeks.
I didn't know until I was 6 weeks

tmc14 · 07/05/2017 07:12

Hello ladies!
Just been catching up on over 2 weeks of messages... great to see all the scan pics, so exciting!

Update from me: We got married (such a fun day, and I lasted until 2am, first day without a nap in weeks!), went on honeymoon to Japan for 2 weeks (amazing trip, loved it, but exhausting).

My 12 week scan is tomorrow at 11am. So I need to go to work, tell them I'm pregnant and that I'll. e nipping out for a couple of hours, then go. Bit anxious about telling them this way, straight after holiday and on day of scan. I've only been there since October, only will get SMP (miss enhanced pay by 3 weeks!) but should survive ok.

Symptoms wise I'm less tired, but horribly constipated (not helped by hard to find veg/fruit when away) so going food shopping today for all of the fibre.

Happy Sunday to you all 😁

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/05/2017 07:53

@tmc14 sounds like you have had an exciting few weeks!
About the telling of parents/in laws we told them all when we had a 7 week scan but I had told a couple of very close friends earlier on. Now I've had the 12 week scan all our friends and family know and I'm telling a few more people at work next week Grin

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/05/2017 07:55

Forgot to say I find prune juice helps with constipation! Don't drink more than about a pint in one night though it's scary!!!

NatDorey1 · 07/05/2017 08:33

Hi ladies,

I am a 1st Time mum to be and concerned about symptoms. I've been bloated and had stitch like pains in my tummy is that normal? My app suggests I'm just 7 weeks? Xx

TheLionQueen1 · 07/05/2017 08:39

Tmc, congratulations!! What an exciting few weeks, did you manage to hide the drinking ok at the wedding?! Glad it went so well!

Hannah I told my mum and sister immediately, we found out at 3 weeks but then booked an early scan at 8 weeks and told the ILs then. I would suggest maybe a bit early to tell loads of people? Depends what you are comfortable with though!

Nat, sounds really familiar to a number of ladies on here! I got a stitch pain almost every time I moved and was so bloated, the bloating doesn't seem to stop sorry to say 😂 Congratulations!

KWebs · 07/05/2017 09:05

Nat I had stitch pains at around 4-8 weeks, and was equally concerned. I described it has a tugging pain especially at my belly button (which seems unconnected to pregnancy bc all the baby growing was happening way lower) midwife just put it down to round ligament pain which I guess it is bc at 22 weeks I'm still getting it? Weird though bc I used to get the same pain with periods Confused s'pose it's not completely weird as they're kinda in the same boat.

NatDorey1 · 07/05/2017 09:49

Thank you ladies that's really useful! Congratulations to you all, it's all very exciting xx

tmc14 · 07/05/2017 10:30

Thanks ladies. LionQueen - one friend noticed and guessed, but she knew we were trying. Think everyone else was too tipsy to notice!!

We told a few close friends, and immediate family at 10 weeks, after a reassurance scan. Waiting until after 12 week scan tomorrow, then, all being well, will slowly start to tell everyone else. Not in a rush to though!! I'm quite private so am a bit dreading all the questions/comments!

ew1990 · 07/05/2017 11:43

Girls I'm knackard today, 5 hours into a 12 and half hour shift, I need some energy!! X

PregoinHK · 07/05/2017 11:44

Hi ladies,

I have just read through all the messaged and what a relief!! I thought I was imagining all of the symptoms because I am so early (5 weeks - I think, did the test on Friday so haven't been to the doc's yet!) - sore boobs, constipated, 'pulling' feeling in my stomach, thirsty and headaches! :-)

Really glad to have found this group and I am following closely as I am in Hong Kong with my DH and not sure such a group exists here! My Mum is coming out to visit at the beginning of July (as I reach the 12-week mark) so any suggestions on what I should get her to bring from the UK to make my second and third trimesters more comfortable would be amazing!!

Also, loving all of the scan photos cannot wait for ours... Eventually!!

Bubbasmama2017 · 07/05/2017 11:50

Any pains I have had they've said is round ligament pains it seeks like 4-5 weeks is too early but still getting them now at 12 weeks so I suppose it is. I feel like I have period pains a lot which worry me but just have to keep thinking it's all normal Confused

Jessiecat27 · 07/05/2017 12:56

Congratulations and welcome to the new ladies!
I've dyed my hair, I think it's safe, I know plenty of people who have and nine was in desperate need!
You can buy a maternity support belt but apparently they're not very comfortable to wear all day. Some days I've been fine and some days it really hurts to walk!
Not been feeling as sick but woke up in tears this morning because of a horrible dream! 12 weeks doesn't sound very far into pregnancy but 3 months really does! Anyone else getting confused with appointments? I've got some in the hospital I've chosen and some with my community midwife at my doctors. I'm moving area in the summer so it's a bit back and forward!
