I understand why you feel like that. I have a worrier friend who's score was 195,000 higher than mine (mine was 1 in 200,000 for all). So her odds were 1 in 5000. She was still considered low risk and had a perfectly healthy beautiful baby who arrived on her due date and a much nicer pregnancy than mine bas been so far! The bloods give a huge variation in numbers and the slightest deviation either way lowers or heightens the number dramatically.

It's only a number and I think as long as it's over 1 in 150 (correct me if I'm wrong here) they don't believe there's reason to worry (easier said than done I know).

This pregnancy malarkey is stressful isn't it! It's a shame they couldn't give the result there and then for some reassurance, my sonographer took ages explaining the result to me and the meanings etc.

I hope I haven't made you feel worse! I also have a friend who had a score of 1 in 8 (!!!!) who decided against the amnio and also had a healthy baby. Luckily she's not worrier and had the what will be will be attitude!

@88claire thank you for this reply, I know there's a lot of variation. I was fine until I was told my friend's score. I though 'wow....That's a huge difference' then like a seed, the worry grew.
It's such a stressful process and our Google fuelled minds are a recipe for disaster. You're right, over 150 is low risk and I've got to get a grip because mine is really good. It's hard to put into words but it's just seeing the variation in numbers for different people, that's why I think if you're over a certain threshold you should just be told you're low risk only. Feel better for getting it off my chest, i hope there will be a worry free period at least once in this pregnancy x

Morning girls I've got my first midwife appointment tomorrow morning does anyone know if they will use the doppler? I'd really like to hear the baby and get some reassurance it's still in there. X

MrsB12345 · 01/05/2017 10:02

@Bubbasmama2017 they didn't on mine. It was an hour of filling in paperwork. How far gone are you?x

Bubbasmama2017 · 01/05/2017 10:05

I'll be 11+5 tomorrow. People keep telling me it's very late to be going but that's when they booked me in I didn't have a say! Only have to wait until Thursday for my scan I suppose just so anxious about the whole thing x

sophr2017 · 01/05/2017 10:05

Bubba they won't do that until second appointment but be aware that not all NHS trusts use them at all. My MW would not check heartbeat and said they don't in general in my area because movement is more important for them, so I went and bought my own Doppler as was so disappointed!

Bubbasmama2017 · 01/05/2017 10:20

Thanks for the advice! I'll just have to be patient and wait until Thursday the suspense is killing me though Confused

ew1990 · 01/05/2017 10:24

All areas are different, mine said I have to wait for my dating scan then work out when I'm 16 weeks and make an appointment with her to hear the heartbeat but they won't do it until your exactly 16 week or over,

I was so tired yesterday, I went to sleep at 9 last night and didn't wake up till ten this morning, but I did have a weekend of 12 and half hour shifts xx

FarFromBrave · 01/05/2017 14:02

20 weeks today and it just looks like I've put on weight rather than having a nicely rounded bump Wink

FarFromBrave · 01/05/2017 14:11

@Bubbasmama2017 they didn't use it for my first appointment but mine was at 10 wks. Had to wait for the 12 wks scan. She said it was too early to use and might not to be able to hear much but perhaps you could ask her to do it anyway given you're further along?

Babyblues14 · 01/05/2017 14:37

Hi 20 weeks with first baby here. They used the Doppler at my 16 week appointment but did warn me that they may not hear anything. Thankfully they did, it was amazing, I cried like a baby Grin

Bubbasmama2017 · 02/05/2017 07:16

@farfrombrave I might ask but then if they don't find it I don't know how I'll feel!
@babyblues14 sounds wonderful we saw ours on an early reassurance scan and it was amazing!

ew1990 · 02/05/2017 20:04

Girls I was in Wetherspoons before with my friend and siblings getting some tea and I fainted while ordering food, like proper out cold On the floor, luckily my friend caught me and lay me down she said she knew I was gunna go coz I was swaying xx

THirdEeye · 02/05/2017 20:18

As you ok ew? How frightening.

THirdEeye · 02/05/2017 20:20

The sonographer let us hear the heartbeat at my 12week scan, we didn't have to ask either.

ew1990 · 02/05/2017 20:23

I am now, was scary just before, I said to my friend I'm boiling me I think I'm gunna be sick, so she took my coat and the women serving me said I'll get you some water, I said my eyes are going all funny then next thing I'm lay on floor with my friend waking me up, I think it was a combination of being too hot, hungry and thirsty, I really need to start eating at regular intervals xx they were dead good with me though sat me on a chair and wouldn't let me go back to table till I'd stopped sweating it was pouring from me, I was mortified everyone from the bar was staring round me xx

ew1990 · 02/05/2017 20:24

That should say standing

THirdEeye · 02/05/2017 20:36

Try and keep something in your bag to help. It sounds like you had a drop in blood sugar, I felt a little dizzy this weekend so it can be easily done.

ew1990 · 02/05/2017 20:42

That's what my friend said, I'm gunna carry some biscuits or something around xx

Expecting2017 · 02/05/2017 20:46

First time mum. They think I'm 13 weeks. 12 week scan Thursday and so nervous!

ew1990 · 02/05/2017 20:50

Ooh I've got mine Thursday too when I should be 13 weeks xx

Expecting2017 · 02/05/2017 20:54

How exciting!! What time? Mines 10am and Soooooooo nervous x

ew1990 · 02/05/2017 21:10

8:50am, I've swapped my shift at work so I can have the full day off, I'm too excited but it's dragging xx

Expecting2017 · 02/05/2017 21:11

I'm not even excited yet. Just nervous want to know everything is okay. Im just going in work later. They don't know I'm pregnant yet I'm unsure when to tell them really. I go on holiday Sunday for two weeks and worried I might get a lot fatter in that time
Lol xx

ew1990 · 02/05/2017 21:14

Just ask for a word with your boss after your scan, I had a scan at ten weeks due to a bit of spotting and little one was kicking away, I'm still nervous as it's been nearly 3 week since that scan but I do get excited xx
