Hi ladies. Hoping someone is still up - hubby says it's too early to buy maternity clothes but I'm struggling to get into some clothes now. Do I just buy some cheap dresses in a size bigger for a few weeks and then look at proper maternity clothes when I'm around 18-20 weeks. Currently 13 weeks x

sophr2017 · 29/04/2017 22:26

MrsB 17+5 and tried on maternity clothes as struggling with my normal clothes and they just didn't fit right yet so I've just bought some clothes the next size up! I'd try a few things on and see how they fit on you!

sophr2017 · 29/04/2017 22:26

Sorry that should have started that I'm 17+5!

ew1990 · 29/04/2017 22:45

I've just bought a few things the next size up for now too, xx

MrsB12345 · 29/04/2017 23:46

Thanks ladies. I crumbles and spent some next vouchers and got maternity clothes. I can take them back or keep them till needed. I went for versatile items. That's it though and have bough some clothes in a size up. As soon as these shops stick maternity in front of something the price rockets. Crazy x

MSH2010 · 30/04/2017 07:07

I've just bought my first maternity jeans got some jeans on eBay not liking the fact you can't walk into a shop to get any it's all online round here

lydiangel83 · 30/04/2017 07:18

@sophr2017 I feel your pain I'm taking antibiotics (which I really didn't want to) for urine infection which was causing abdominal pain earlier in the week. But it's making me sick, feverish and headache so having to take paracetamol just to not feel dreadful and to try and get at least a little respite at night. Could barely get out of bed yesterday and am going on holiday tomorrow! :(

lydiangel83 · 30/04/2017 07:20

@MSH2010 @MrsB12345 I bought some non-maternity clothes the next size up at 12+2 (bear in mind I thought I was 9 wks something lol!). I want some pretty summer dresses/ clothes and will need new jeans and work clothes so will buy some in the next month or so I think. Feels like it could be a lot of money so will probably buy some stuff on eBay as well as new.

sophr2017 · 30/04/2017 07:22

Aw Lydia, sorry to hear that Sad Hope you're ok for holiday! You need to enjoy that last child free hol!!

Tinyti83 · 30/04/2017 07:49

@Brens13

sorry for the delayed reply, we've been busy spring cleaning the house and garden while the weather held up. Yeah I was so relieved and like you say in a couple of weeks we. An hopefully relax more! Well that's something new to me too, I didn't know you could go private for an early scan either?? Aw bless, I can understand your DH won't want to miss it, we're lucky that mine works from home a couple times a week so can be flexible around appointments but if he wasn't he'd hate to miss out too. So how far away is your party? Your lucky you've told those close to you to help disguise the truth, we have a party at the end of May and not sure what to do as people will definitely think it odd for me not to drink, although luckily I'm going on a course with work the day after and although I'm getting the train, I may just tell them I'm driving early in the morning to swerve the drinking issue! I'm a hopeless fibber though 😬 lol. How are your symptoms Hun? I've been ok really on the grand scheme of things but the tiredness is killing me, haven't made 9pm most nights!! 💤, it gets to 8ish and I'm thinking "ooh nap time" ha ha x

mrsjkerry · 30/04/2017 10:12

@MrsB12345 I've been in maternity jeans from top shop from 10 weeks. They're good because they're not over the bump and have just a nice elastic strip at the front. I can't fit in ANY of my pre pregnancy clothes. Even leggings. They're tight on my belly and makes the nausea worse!

@Brens13 if you go privately for your scans you can book to go evenings or weekends or practically any time that suits. So your husband wouldn't miss...

Can someone explain the difference between over and under the bump jeans (apart from obvious). Is one type more comfortable? Will probably buy some online in next few wks

mrsjkerry · 30/04/2017 10:48

@lydiangel83 for me, the stretchy bit means it accommodates a growing bump. I'm not sure I like the over bump ones as they can be quite restrictive and clingy, but might offer more support. I think maybe with a really big bump, under the bump ones could leave you feeling quite exposed though.

This has some good ideas.

Hi I preferred under the bump - the over bump were ok for the first while but I found them quite right the bigger my bump got. I actually now just wear leggings as I can't get comfortable in either kind Jeans :)

MrsB12345 · 30/04/2017 14:03

I've bought these. Feel it's a good start to a maternity wardrobe. I'll buy some more bits on eBay to keep the cost down. It's ready for me to collect now but I'm curled up on the sofa and can't be bothered to move Grin

Hi Ladies,

Can I join? I recognise a few of you from the TTC board!

I am currently 14+2 with my first (obviously) and finally starting to feel normal again!

mrsjkerry · 30/04/2017 16:11

MrsB12345 · 30/04/2017 16:11

Hi @88claire welcome to the thread.x

lydiangel83 · 30/04/2017 16:12

@MrsB12345 nothing better than a bit of sofa shopping :) where did you get all those from? Looks like nice range of stylish yet comfy!

THirdEeye · 30/04/2017 16:42

Hi 88claire

I didn't know that you could buy under the bump jeans off to google now

My clothes are still fitting me, but my trousers /jeans can become a little restrictive especially since this awful agonising trapped wind and bloating has started.

MrsB12345 · 30/04/2017 17:49

@lydiangel83 these are all Next. I ordered at 11.15pm last night and they were in the shop by 1.30pm today. Going to collect them tomorrow so will feedback x

88claire · 30/04/2017 19:30

Thanks everyone!

MrsJ
I am well thanks, except getting annoyed I have no sign of a bump yet!! Finally over the awful sickness. Was such a worrier after my miscarriage but calmed down after the 12 week scan and buying a doppler Grin

How are you doing? How many weeks now?!

lydiangel83 · 30/04/2017 19:43

@88claire welcome! I don't have a bump but my bum and boobs have certainly grown! Making me wonder where baby is hiding lol!

88claire · 30/04/2017 19:57

Lydia

Oh my gosh I know about the boobs and hip situation. I'm usually a size 10 in but had to get size 16 in tops and swimwear to accommodate my gigantic boobs! I'm praying they go back down after having the baby!!

Just almost had a meltdown buying swimwear for my holiday but primark saved the day (!!!) with a tankini combination. So I got a size 16 top and size 8 bottoms 😂😂😂

Squigglefish · 30/04/2017 23:04

Hi all..
I need a bit of a moan....We opted for the screening tests at the scan on Monday gone. I was told I'd have a call by Friday if the results were high risk. No call but I had a letter on Saturday mini panic attack was had. Anyway, the results were low risk and I was given a ratio of what my risk was. I was really pleased but when speaking to my friend who has had the test done a few weeks ago, I was 20,000..... TWENTY THOUSAND times more at risk than her result. We are the same age, same background, similar builds etc. I was astonished at the difference and it's depressed me. Our risk is still very low but I honestly feel you should get 'low risk' and leave it at that.
I'm not going to state my score on here because I honestly found it stressful comparing it. Obviously im still relieved at my result but it's a strange feeling and I wanted to get it off my chest.
