I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi all, many thanks for your messages and concerns. Saturday was a very, very bad day for me. Sunday was a bit better, we went to see family (I remembered my medicine this time) and although still felt pretty rough, was an easier day to cope.

I think because of my existing mental health problems, when I am having a bad day it feels a million times worse. I have an appt tomorrow with a perinatal nurse and DH is coming. I will be pushing hard for early induction and then I have my appt on Wednesday to hopefully get ondansetron. I am still feeling very sick, but couple of days of keeping everything down has given me hope. Probably a false one...

I had to go to my labour ward late last night due to reduced movement, first time I've gone through that, and was terrified it was my fault for wishing he was here now. He is ok, but has made me think twice about wanting a premature birth.

I hope everyone is doing better than me and has managed to enjoy some chocolate and the long weekend. Waves.

LucindaE · 17/04/2017 10:37

Sorry, Lemondrop it was you who gave the meme advice, too!
Oklahoma You are so right. Now, I can't gorge on too much chocolate anyway- it sets off my migraines- but you and the others will be back to overdoing it next Easter - with the happy addition of a baby clamouring...

Hollyhop Cross posted. So glad you avoided being admitted. How are the ketones reading? Glad you've got an appointment. That reduced movements thing must be so alarming, though I gather that it is quite frequent. Don't blame yourself for wishing to be free of misery.

Hello all... wonder how Castle is getting on, looking forward to hearing of her safe passage to the pink castle Grin

Sorry it's been a week since I disappeared to make soup with a promise to report back... potato soup is a winner (well, for me at any rate!). I had to get DH to do the softening off onions in butter but because the smell was Envy (not envy!) but tasted good and stayed down well. Recipe here if anyone is feeling brave www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/potatosoup_11631

No exciting news here... I have eaten a few cream eggs with a reasonable success rate... lost a banana though. This baby does not do fruit and veg. Going to be awkward in our vegetarian household! 33 weeks tomorrow... if this baby holds out for another 9 I'll be very pissed off... I'll have done my time by 37 weeks thank you very much!

Melleebacca · 17/04/2017 19:09

Four - glad the soup turned out well. We have a family recipe of a potato quiche on pastry which is the only way I can get a decent amount of veges in at the moment.

Holly - glad you had a slightly better day and have some appts this week which will hopefully help. As you get to the tail end, you get to have a lot more appts, so hopefully the constant monitoring will help.

Oklahoma - not even a square of chocolate for me this Easter. It was Easter 2015 when pregnant with DD that I figured out how awful vomming chocolate is. Massive stash in the cupboard though all ready for the pink castle feast!

22w here today. Had a busy long weekend with my sister staying. Was good to have an extra pair of hands with DD, but also meant hubby felt a need to do more activities than normal.

Waves to all!!

Melleebacca · 17/04/2017 19:10

We did cookies yesterday for Easter. Hope they don't set anyone off, but I'm pretty proud, even if I can't eat them.

HaichM · 17/04/2017 19:22

Melle: they look fab and glad things have gone OK with DD. We've just had a mainly chilled weekend at home, which has been good.

Four: glad to hear things are OK. Fingers crossed for the next 7 weeks and yay on the creme eggs. I managed a homemade panacotta last night and it was so good. Anything mash, veg and gravy related is good with me at the moment. It feels so good when I manage some fruit and veg. Sorry you're still struggling with fruit.
Holly: I agree with Mellee and hope the appts this week go well. I have had to go back to taking my 2nd dose but thankfully still no vomiting. Sorry you are still suffering so much but glad the reduced movement turned out to be nothing serious.

Someone asked me about my dizziness but I've forgotten who. I've had dizziness, lightheadedness and dizzy headaches the whole way through so far and I have to say they're as debilitating as the HG. I asked the mw about pre-eclampsia and she said they'll just have to watch out for other symptoms instead as if I get worse in the next few weeks, I'm just going to be thinking it is work related.

I am not having a good today. Got so lightheaded and faint feeling in the shower this morning and been so off if you know what I mean since. Spent the entire afternoon sleeping on the sofa and am not going to last long before I go to bed. Pleased I managed to cook tea and do some washing but also fed up and annoyed. Hoping this isn't a new trend as have 2 days of me and DS while DH at work and I don't want to spend them lying on the sofa feeling miserable and rubbish.

Melleebacca · 17/04/2017 19:39

Haich - I shower sitting on the floor of the shower or have a bath. Because heat makes the lightheadedness worse.
If you're still feeling bad, find some activities that DD has fun with while you rest. I put Little Miss outside with the mixing bowls filled with water and she plays with the water for ages while I lie on the deck. Win win.

Melleebacca · 17/04/2017 19:40

Whoops - DS sorry! 😳

Lemondrop09 · 17/04/2017 19:54

Four - I'm well off fruit and veg myself. I can recently handle peas and sweetcorn, but that's literally it. My baby also wanted creme eggs....that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Holly, glad your feeling slightly better. I really hope you get some odansetron on Weds. Talk to them about combo with an antihistamine, so you keep your options open in case at the odansetron alone doesn't quite cut it.

Mellee - those biscuits are super cute! Too nice to eat!

Haich, that dizziness sounds rubbish Sad Hope an early night helps

I'm a bit bleugh today. Every night for the last week I've woken up at 4am needing a wee and been bolt awake for at least two hours Hmm My hayfever has kicked in big time (yaaaay!) and seems to be randomly particularly bad when I wake up at 4am, so I sit in the dark sneezing. I'm feeling really miserable about work tomorrow, this redundancy consultation is just making me so down and I'm really wondering why the hell I'm bothering pushing myself to work when they're just going to make me redundant anyway. It's very demotivating and I'm half tempted to get signed off again! Oh and I discovered how to make fluorescent orange vomit today. So yeah, loads of fun in my house today....

LucindaE · 17/04/2017 20:09

I have the drawbridge of the Pink Castle all decorated for Castlefeck.
So glad some of you could eat cream eggs.
Wonderful cookies Melleebacca .
...And that soup receipe looks impressive.
Goodness, many of you are such good cooks.
Lemondrop Sorry about redundancy meeting. Mother Hen thinks it a good idea for you to go off sick, but then, she would...
Apologies if I've rudely ignored anyone /cross posted.

Hi all

Can I join?

Expecting #2, was on metoclopramide during first pregnancy but doctor has prescribed cyclizine this time (different dr).

Okay for a couple of days but feel worse than ever now at 7 + 4. Going to ring back tomorrow and ask for metoclopramide which at least got the vomiting under control last time.

Melleebacca · 17/04/2017 21:59

Turquoise - I think cyclizine is weaker than metachloropromide. Good plan to ask for stronger meds. I have a different GP this time around too, but demanded to have the same meds that worked last time. I don't have the time while caring for a toddler to mess around with meds that might not work :)

Melleebacca · 17/04/2017 22:06

Lemon - I feel for you. It's annoying having additional stress when you've got so much going on already. Hope it all works out well in the end.

Sandwiched between a toddler with the hiccups and unborn baby who also has them. No peace and quiet here.

CastleFeck · 18/04/2017 00:25

Lovely little ds was born safely yesterday. We are home now and everything is going well.

Thanks so much for this thread Lucinda and the pink castle which is just as lovely as I'd expected. In the dark days you feel like HG will never end, but it will and does xx

katemeister · 18/04/2017 06:58

Congratulations Castle lovely news.

I had an awful day yesterday, nothing stayed down and I hardly got out of bed. I need to be at the hospital for 9am for booking appt and have no idea how I can make it, or concentrate through the appointment. Currently forcing down toast to try and revive myself. This is really shit.

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 18/04/2017 07:57

Good morning everyone,

Pleased to have found you all again. Sorry to be MIA for a week or so.

Firstly Castle congratulations! So thrilled to hear of your baby boy arriving, and you making it to the castle. :)

Secondly, welcome to all the new faces- sorry to hear so many of you have had terrible time. I hope you get the support you need soon.

As for me, 35.5 weeks and was VERY sick yesterday. Had an anomaly scan last week to check for signs of the syndrome my daughter has. All looks well, and baby was looking around 5lb. So bring on the castle I say!

Waving to all, especially the lovely mother hen

Xxx

fourcorneredcircle · 18/04/2017 08:48

Congratulations Castle 💙 Glad to hear you and he are well. Now, go and eat aaaaallllllll the foods Grin

Melleebacca · 18/04/2017 08:59

Congratulations castle! So happy for you and your little boy. Hope you're feasting it up at the pink castle.
Lying here trying not to hurl up water, so very jealous of you right now.

Lemondrop09 · 18/04/2017 09:05

Congratulations Castle! Welcome little Prince Castle Smile I hope all is going well that that pesky HG cloud has lifted and floated far away.

Kate, I hope your booking appointment goes ok. I threw up ALL OVER the place in mine. It was a poor trainee midwife checking me in too, she didn't know what to do with me. I was so dehydrated that my blood had thickened and they simply couldn't get anything out of me. I came away covered in bruises, it was horrible. Luckily when I went back for my 12 week scan I was more hydrated plus I saw a proper phlebotomist, who took all the blood from me in seconds. Much better. Have you got anyone going with you? I was thankful I took my DH who half carried me home afterwards. I then slept for 6 hours straight. Take care of yourself for the rest of the day, you'll likely be exhausted.

Lemondrop09 · 18/04/2017 09:09

Also welcome to Turquoise, sorry you're here. I have a deep admiration for women who manage to do this twice, especially with a toddler running around. Cyclizine works for some people but did bugger all for me. If it's not helping, definitely go back and try something else. There's a few drugs you can try, have a look at the RCOG green too guidelines and take those with you if you think you'll get any resistance from your GP.

putputput · 18/04/2017 09:14

Congratulations castle. You did it!

Just wanted to check in as I keep losing the new thread.

I'm off to early pregnancy unit today as had a large amount of bleeding on good Friday - typically on the long bank holiday weekend where all routine services close. So this weekends been spent in a vomitty limbo. Sickness has been awful this weekend which I hope is a good sign. So please keep everything crossed for me.

Lemondrop09 · 18/04/2017 09:16

Oh how stressful got you putput. All fingers crossed here for you, let us know how it goes.

Hollyhop17 · 18/04/2017 09:34

Congrats Castle! Very happy for you and your family. Has the HG lifted for you? I certainly hope so.

Really sorry to hear about the bleeding putput. How far gone are you? I had some very large bleeding at 10 weeks which has thankfully turned out ok. Got my fingers crossed for you.

Sorry about work Lemon. I hate my job too and they arent sympathetic. I am on a contract which ends while on mat leave and I am pretty sure they arent going to make me permant... Hope you get some clarity soon.

Sorry everyone else is having a rough time at the moment. I'm quite worried about my mh appt today. I dont want to be too honest and they think they need to take him from me. I am not suicidal per say, and feel sno resentment towards him at all, but when the nausea is as bad as it was on Saturday, I cant see a way out Sad.

Hope we all have a better week. Waves to all.
