I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I'm the same ladies never enjoyed the first really not enjoying it this time.

To make matters worse my gp refused to prescribe ondansetron said he was uncomfortable with the risks and gave me cyclizine to take but he even suggested I try a few days of just that before mixing with my stemetil which iv ignored. He says if this doesn't work he refer me to the hospital Sad I was so gutted. I hate how my body responds to growing a baby and now I feel ignored.

Hollyhop17 · 13/05/2017 09:25

Really sorry to hear that Mustang. I would give the PSS a call. They gave me the name of a HG friendly consultant at my local hospital who I could ask to be referred to. They might be able to do the same for you? If your GP is rubbish, as mine is, you could ask your midwife to refer you? Obviously it is all academic now I cant take it, but if the hospital had refused to prescribe again, I would have gone to the consultant. Really sorry you have to deal with this, I know from experience it is the last thing you need.

BeautifulLiar · 13/05/2017 10:26

Hey everyone; can I join please?

I'm 7 weeks pregnant with #5. Don't ask why I did this to myself again! Probably because this is DP's first baby.

I feel terrible :( have Cyclizine, which I'm not entirely sure is helping.

Xx

DeadDoorpost · 13/05/2017 11:47

Guys, these new tablets are working now and I'm so happy. I've also never had so many ice lollies to help with the fluid intake while they kicked in. I do however dislike the prochlorperazine tablets and how they taste so I'm going to have to eat crackers in the morning put one under my lip and sleep until it dissolves I think.
BeautifulLiar; phone your Dr if you think they're not working. I've had to do the same. 2 times now. On my 3rd lot of tablets. But these will only work for me for a week as my body gets used to them really quickly. So I've then got ondansetron as the Dr said it'll save me ringing him in a week. But if these don't work at all then it's hospital. So definitely phone your dr.
Mustang: pretty sure the Drs have to try all 4 levels of tablets before they refer you? Unless it's seriously bad ofc. I'd keep pushing for it. Good luck.

DevilWearsPrimark · 13/05/2017 12:03

I think I'm improving somewhat- I was really bad at the beginning of the week, but I've only actually vomited twice in the past three days, and the nausea hasn't been as constant- in fact at the moment it has gone.
I also ate a real meal of something I enjoyed, and it stayed put, which I was pleased about. I've not been anywhere near as severe as any of you guys, I don't know if that's because being here has meant I've understood I needed medical help before it got out of control, or if it'd had never have been too bad. Either way, it's always been good to know this is here for people that need it.
Lemon, 20 weeks is great, and it's good to mark the milestones. Getting through each week is an achievement.

DevilWearsPrimark · 13/05/2017 12:13

Oops, didn't mean to post!
Hi DeadDoorpost, glad the tablets are working. It's the cyclizine that I found was horrible, the bitter taste sometimes made me feel worse, but orange lucozade sport made it bearable.
BeautifulLiar hello and welcome! I delayed when my first lot of tablets weren't really doing an awful lot, and it took longer to get round to feeling somewhat human again- if it's not working, go straight back.

LucindaE · 13/05/2017 12:35

Just dashing on to welcome BeautifulLiar. My goodness, a fifth Hyperemesis pregnancy? You deserve a medal. You certainly don't need advice from me about keostix and meds and flat full sugar coke and the juice of tinned fruit. Have you got a good support system to call on for childcare?
No news from IAmSeriousAndDon'tCallMeShirley yet, then?
Lemondrop Congratulations on twenty weeks. How are things with SIL?
DeadDoorPost Did you say drugs only work an average of three weeks for you? That's awful! Why should that be? I'm glad the GP has given you an Ondansetron prescription.
DevilWearsPrimark I am so glad that the advice on this thread has helped.
Oklahoma Very true - you, I and a couple of others had all the luck. Wink.

Ha! A medal for either bravery or pure stupidity! Unfortunately exH is a twat and rarely sees his children so I'm not getting much of a break, but DP is fab. He's at a wedding today though so the DC have absolutely trashed the house and the 8yo is having to babysit the 14 month old!

Actually I didn't know about the juice of tinned fruit?!

I will go back to the doctor if I still feel like they're not helping next week. And yy to the horrendous bitterness of cyclizine!

Mustang27 · 13/05/2017 13:15

That's a good idea Holly I think I will have to do that I have an app on Wednesday so il push for stuff then but in the mean time il give the helpline a call

HaichM · 13/05/2017 13:53

So I ordered some more tablets but through the dispensary rather than going to a doctor for a prescription and stupidly didn't check which ones they were ordering. They gave me cyclizine. I had a panic this morning as could only find 2 ondansetron and decided to save them for next week but I felt so ill, I was really happy to find some more. Ended up spending the morning in bed and though a bit better now, still feel rubbish. It probably doesn't help that I have a bad cold. I think it's making everything worse.

I'm really sorry for everyone suffering with the debilitating nausea. I'd almost forgotten how bad it was until I experienced it again.

Hi to the newcomers

Hollyhop17 · 13/05/2017 14:12

Haich, I dont know if this is frowned upon, or not a good idea, but I have nearly 2 weeks of ondansetron which I, ironically, can no longer use. Happy to give them to you? Lucinda, do let me know if this is dreadfully inappropriate, I dont want to be kicked off the thread!

mrsb87 · 13/05/2017 14:24

Haich if you find you're in a pickle you can usually call your out-of-hours GP service after 6pm or weekends and they can often sort you a prescription out.
I've been on my Ondansatron since yesterday and already feeling the benefits! Any tips on how to avoid the dreaded constipation?
Hoping you can all have a well weekend xx

questsabelletreetop · 13/05/2017 17:00

Hi everyone,
I suffered with HG in my last pregnancy so I'm terrified, have never felt worse, at times I wished I could die.
I'm only 5+4 weeks and feel fine at the moment, last time the sickness began at 5 weeks, I'm just hoping I'll escape it this time around.

When did you start to feel nauseous and then actually sick?

peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/05/2017 18:06

Quest this time (third) I felt queasy at 4 weeks and first vommed at 5 weeks.

1st was 6-7 weeks vomming and second was 6 weeks nausea, 8 weeks vomming. No real pattern.

questsabelletreetop · 13/05/2017 18:26

peaceloveandbiscuits

This makes me nervous, I'm supposed to be in NYC two and a half weeks time.

Confused
HaichM · 13/05/2017 18:34

I think I was 6 weeks nausea and 7 weeks vomiting.

Thanks mrsB. I'll keep that in mind if it happens again. Hoping if I ring first thing on Mon they'll be able to sort it out in time.

I've spent the afternoon in bed and still feel really horrible. Haven't felt nausea this bad for this long since the beginning of the 2nd trimester, so like 15 weeks or so, and am trying not to worry this is my normal as I really don't know how I will work if it is...

Hoping everyone else is having better Saturdays. This is not how I pictured my restful weekend going Sad and I'm trying not to feel guilty that DS has had so much electronic time today or that DH has had full parenting duty as well doing all the housework.

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 13/05/2017 18:48

Good evening all.

I am very happy to announce that I am currently residing in a VERY pink castle, as at 20:12 last night I gave birth to a baby girl.

She is beautiful, a small but perfectly formed 6lb little thing.

We are just on our way home now, I'm beyond exhausted, but very happy, and truly loved up.

I was unfortunately quite sick during labour, and have had some nausea since birth, but it's calming down and see an end in sight.

Sorry it's taken me a while to post, we have been battling to get breastfeeding established.

Waving to you all xxx

BeautifulLiar · 13/05/2017 18:52

Congratulations! Xx

BeautifulLiar · 13/05/2017 18:54

Quest I'm going to Majorca in two weeks :( not looking forward to it at all!

LucindaE · 13/05/2017 19:04

Hollyhop People do such things on here all the time - Mother Hen isn't going to turn informer!
Questabelletreetop Sorry you feel so panicky. I think it varies -unfortunately, if you suffer badly it hits early. I didn't suffer as badly or as long as most people on here, and it didn't really spiral out of control for me until nine-ten weeks, but there was nausea from round the time of my missed period. Others seem to be bad enough to be admitted round the seven week mark.
