I'm good thanks. Just laying in bed. DH has just arrived home with a Costa and mags. No puddle as yet!!! X

Bear2014 · 27/04/2017 15:26

Hi ladies, just having a catch up of all your news. Fraggle how scary, glad you're resting up and hope it all goes well tomorrow. Blue you're doing so well, total supermum already 👍 lolly glad the twins are doing so well and they're happy with the growth.

I'll post my c-section hospital bag list when I get home. I was so gutted when I found out I had to have a section with DD, but apart from having to sit around the hospital for a fortnight waiting for it, it really wasn't too bad. Obviously I have nothing to compare it to, but my scar was invisible after a year and I'm the only one of my mum friends never to have wet myself in public 🤣 so there are some perks.

We're sunning ourselves and I'm eating way too much ice cream while OH drinks cold rose! I get to relax a bit while she is on sandcastle duty so not too bitter about lack of booze, but i am already planning my drinks in the garden when this baby comes out! Such a lush.

Mistletoe scary with the movement thing. I find it really hard to gauge tbh, i get movement on and off but it's not a pattern. Do you ever find too that you're so busy you barely think about it all day?! Glad all is ok and hope he's back to doing somersaults xx

Ah Lolly glad all went well and that you had an extra peek! Ah that's interesting they are saying section for you! (Although are yours identical?) my consultant is encouraging me to go natural.. which I wasn't keen on when he was breech but now feeling quite empowered to do so. I will do the same.. whatever safest for babies!
I
know what you mean imagining the position of babies.. happy smiley boy all sprawled out (like his dad does!) with girlie squished in the corner!

I ended up back in triage AGAIN today as still not feeling much from girlie. They are amazing though and have said if I need to go in everyday so be it.. better safe than sorry.
Mistletoe hope movement for you has been better?
Fraggle have you had a relaxed day?
Xxx

ellesbellesxxx · 27/04/2017 22:33

Oo bear ice cream sounds good!
And I did chuckle when you said about CS=no leakage... two heads in pelvis is not good for laughing or sneezing let's just say that...

Lolly2803 · 28/04/2017 08:56

Oh that'd be great Bear - very useful thank you! Glad you're enjoying your holiday. Sounds amazing and very relaxing.

Good Luck today Fraggle! Hope the stitch goes well. Sending lots of love and let us know how you get on. Will be thinking of you.

Aw Elles sorry you had to go back. But if you're worried than def go in so that's good they were so nice and didn't make you feel awkward about it.
I find it hard sometimes to tell which one is moving as they are so close together on the scans. And with one of the placentas being anterior i don't think that helps. So I am just keeping an eye and if the pattern reduces then I'll def be going in.

I am 27 weeks today! Honestly can't believe it. We are finally going shopping this weekend as well. All feels a bit surreal!!

xxxxx

RafflesMaidenSister · 28/04/2017 09:28

Good luck today Fraggle. Hope everyone else is on form. Xxx

mistletoeprickles · 28/04/2017 12:29

fraggles thinking of you today and hope you've been resting up. Let us know how you get on.
blue gladd you've had a nice holiday and i hope your feeling rested.
raffles glad your scan went well.
blue i'm still checking your blog daily and your are coping amazingly well.

Sorry to those i've missed, its hard to reply to everyone on my phone.

I'm another one who will be having a section. bear i'd really like to see your list. i have natural delivery last time so i was only in for 8 hours.
So we've decided on a section, turns out when i had DD she was stuck at the shoulders (there's no way i can spell the medical term) as a result we've decided we can't risk it again so a section it'll be. It'll help with the planning side of things too. I can make sure DD is sorted and happy and we will know when to expect him (ish).

Are you excited to go shopping lolly? We've got a few bits like bottles and steriliser which i managed to get a good deal on and a bouncy chair which again was in the sale.
Rumour has it Aldi's baby event is starting on the 4th of May and the other supermarkets seen to follow suit around the same time. I have always found Asda kids clothes brilliant, they don't cost the earth and they wash very well.
I washed all the white bits that i kept from DD yesterday, then ended up sorting out draws etc which felt really good because we now have somewhere to put his bits and pieces.
I have a list of what we need now and shopping plans, DP however is less excited about shopping. He really is not a shopping person.

We've got two weeks until we go on holiday so i need to focus on that first and then get into baby mode once we're home but it wont take much i don't think to be sorted.

25 weeks today so another mile stone achieved and we're really looking forward now. I've been so scared too but now i have too and i'm really enjoying it. DD is making grand plans too!

I had a check with the midwife yesterday, turns out this baby does not like the sound of the doppler and he hides. She put it on and it went boom boom boom the he kicked it and hid. She then spent a good 15 minutes tracking him down again. i wasn't panicking because i could feel him wiggling away so we had a good game of chase.

Next check is next Friday with the consultant to confirm we are having a section and to discuss risks etc.

Hope everyone is ok xxxx

Lolly2803 · 28/04/2017 13:14

Yes mistletoe actually for the first time I am starting to get excited! Probably shouldn't but just can't help it. We need to get some nursery furniture and well pretty much everything really!
Will do it slowly and it bits but will be making a good start this weekend.

That's great you're going away too so you can relax a bit and get some rest before things ramp up again.

We didn't talk much about the actual birth just what was most likely so we shall see what the next scan shows. xxx

FraggleRock77 · 28/04/2017 14:33

Thank you for all your thoughts and kind wishes today. Op went well. Consultant said there was a good amount to stitch and cervix was closed tight. Heard heart beat after and all ok. Struggling with recovery though. I wanted a GA but got told stats by anesthetist about possible risk of pre-term labour. So agreed to a spinal against my wishes really, i was given the choice. I've had four GAs and i can honestly say the recovery was simple. I still can't move, I have back spasms and a catheter in. Won't get home until the evening! Wished I'd bloody accepted GA but couldn't have lived with myself if it had started labour which he played on!

Lolly2803 · 28/04/2017 14:42

Hey Fraggle, that's great news the stitch went well. I think you made the right choice despite the slow recovery. You'd have felt terrible if it had gone the other way as you said.
Hope you feel better by tonight and can rest up over the long weekend.
Lots of love xxx

RafflesMaidenSister · 28/04/2017 17:24

Hope you're feeling better soon Fraggle.

Lolly, you should feel excited. It's lovely that you do. When we found out we were both so excited that, despite the fact we'd agreed not to say anything, we decided to tell our parents because we felt that it might be the only time we ever got to be excited and it could be gone tomorrow. That hasn't been possible to sustain in the longer term but I say, when you're excited enjoy it - there's enough stress without working to suppress positive emotions!

Lolly2803 · 29/04/2017 14:37

Well ladies a push chair and two car seats and bases have been purchased!!!
Eeekk!!

Hope you're having a nice weekend xxx

mistletoeprickles · 29/04/2017 14:52

Yay lolly how do you feel? I wont ask how your bank account feels Grin

I've been shopping too but just clothes shopping for me as I have all the big stuff xx

Lolly2803 · 29/04/2017 15:08

Feeling excited but all feels a bit surreal. My mum and dad bought our pushchair which is very kind of them. We bought the car seats and bases it's all so expensive!

Tomorrow it's bits and bobs and some clothes. Busy weekend!!

Handy for your bank balance you just need clothes and bits. Xxxx

Bear2014 · 01/05/2017 14:38

Hope everyone has had a good bank hols and special shout outs to Fraggle and Blue - hope all is well.

Very exciting to get the buggy, Lolly! It's definitely easier to have some stuff already but the shopping is fun Smile

So I promised my C-section list/tips. You're basically eliminating the 'labour' components and going all in on the postnatal ward survival gear. Baby list is all the usual stuff, there are good lists everywhere. You don't need to take any baby feeding paraphernalia as it will all be provided if necessary.

Massive knickers (full briefs, m&s granny pants). If you're normally a size 10, buy a 14-16.

Nightie with drop down nursing straps
(For day 1-2) when you still have catheter in.

Baggy PJ bottoms and vest with drop down nursing straps (day 2-3 and thereafter)

Black yoga pants with wide waistband, one size too big, plus t-shirt (going home outfit)

Flip flops for the ward and shower. As it's summer they can double to go home in too.

Shorts, t-shirt, flip flops, spare undies, toothbrush for your OH. Ward is hot and they will want to strip off.

Toilet bag: tooth stuff, sanex zero or v mild body wash, 2-in-1 shampoo, bb cream for photos, hand cream, face wipes, lip balm, lansinoh nipple cream

Eye mask and earplugs to try to sleep when your baby does/when oh holds the baby. The ward is bright and loud!

Dark, old towel as hospital ones are tiny and scratchy

Pillows from home with old pillow cases (generally only 1 crappy pillow per bed). BF pillow if you have one (I never got on with them)

Maternity pads, although our hospital provided these. You'll need loads at home and those pampers bed mats are a good idea too. You can always use them up later when toilet training!

Carrier bags for dirty laundry

Peppermint tea bags to help with trapped wind that can be nasty after section.

Keep baby stuff separate so you can find it easily, first hat, clothes, nappy in a zip loc so OH can grab it. Muslins are useful and multi-purpose from day 1.

Water wipes for baby, cotton wool and water is a nightmare and totally ineffective a lot of the time. If you have to do any clean ups on baby or yourself when you're left alone they're brilliant. Top recommendation for baby bum cream - Waitrose Bottom Butter. We'll be using Naty disposable nappies for a few weeks as they have less chemicals.

Snacks - wholesome and easy to eat like flapjacks, fruit and nut bars. Water bottle with sports cap. Get your OH to bring you nice fresh juice or something so you don't get dehydrated or constipated. The latter is truly the last thing you want to be faced with, post surgery with a shared loo.

Phone chargers.

Think that's it - it's definitely good to know in advance if you're having a section as you do need totally different stuff really.

Xx

Loving the c-section list Bear. Especially the peppermint tea! Really helpful xxx

FraggleRock77 · 01/05/2017 16:03

Why am i watching One Born! Bed rest is not good!

Lolly2803 · 01/05/2017 16:16

Bear thank you SO SO much. Can't tell you how useful this is!! Hope you had a nice holiday?

Aw Fraggle I love OBEM. Are you watching this series? I've seen in the credits some twins so I can't wait to see that episode.
How are things now? Hope you're resting xxx

FraggleRock77 · 01/05/2017 16:25

I think it's this series. I'm just resting. Getting lots of support. Fingers and legs crossed x

FraggleRock77 · 01/05/2017 16:25

Any more purchases Lolly?x

Bear2014 · 01/05/2017 16:44

No worries! I don't have much wisdom to pass on usually Wink you definitely don't want my sleep training advice Grin

Holiday was good thanks! Not sure how any of us are going to get back into normality again this week - DD has no routine left at all and has been napping at 5pm, going to bed at 10 etc. She's asleep on the sofa right now in fact. Nursery will be a necessary shake up. With Easter etc I haven't done a full week at work since forever so next week will be hard going.

OBEM! I watched a few of the first series way back in the day but I pretty much hate any TV like that. I find it really weird and voyeuristic and I can't get my head around why anyone in their right mind would want to be on it! I mean, your boss can see you!!! LOL. I am weird though, I can't watch any reality TV.

Hope bed rest isn't too deadly. It is a very good job that we live in the age of Netflix. xx

5 day weeks are rubbish Bear but not long and you'll be off! Albeit with two children to take care of so not exactly restful! Glad you had a good holiday.
Yer I'm not one for reality TV but I do like OBEM. Not that I would EVER want to go on it!!

We bought baby clothes yesterday! Struggled to find gender neutral stuff I liked actually. Ended up buying a lot of white! Bought a variety of sizes so hopefully will work out.

Still have loads more to buy and actually we costing up now what I have on my list!!!

Bear2014 · 01/05/2017 16:56

I know loads of people found OBEM really helpful as you never actually get to see how birth looks otherwise, in the movies everyone is always lying on their back etc.

Baby clothes! Yay! This won't help your bank balance in the slightest, but Scandi brands of baby clothes are gorgeous and nearly all gender neutral. I'm addicted to Polarn O Pyret and DD has loads of it but I only ever buy it in the sale.

Blue I've just read your update about the NCT group etc. One of our NCT friends had a 28-week baby, who was in fact born the night before our classes were due to start! They didn't make it to any of our classes of course, and were given a full refund, but our teacher kept them on the email list and they emailed us updates on how their DS was getting on. They came to our first meet-up after our babies were all born and then, as the babies were pretty much all at the same stage (their DS for his corrected age), our friend kept coming to meet us for baby cinema etc. No one cares that she wasn't at the classes and it doesn't matter at all. They're just part of the gang. Maybe you can do something similar? xx
