Hi Lolly, all busy this end - currently staying at my sister's with DD while our kitchen is gutted out. How are you?

Thinking of you elles!!

Lolly2803 · 31/05/2017 08:51

Oh how exciting all your kitchen is getting done now!
I am ok thanks. Big and uncomfortable but I'm ok.
We've finally exchanged on our current which is good and moving to our house at end of June (when I'll be 35 weeks pregnant).
Can't wait!!

Been thinking of Elles too - hope everything is going ok! xxxx

MrsCrabtree · 31/05/2017 08:58

Wow exciting times, bear and lolly with your renovations and move! Nothing like packing in all the life events!

I've come down with swollen glands and aches and am panicking myself about what it could be Confused I always worry about toxoplasmosis even though that's pretty unlikely. I feel like the doctor/midwife won't take me seriously.

Thinking of you elles and hope all is well with you and the twins xx

Lolly2803 · 31/05/2017 09:20

Mrs Crab I was feeling like that last week. Had swollen glands, sore throat and was bunged up. It's gone now though.
Toxoplasmosis is SO rare isn't it?! If it's worrying you can you speak to your GP? I'm sure you are absolutely fine but not worth just worrying xxx

Bear2014 · 31/05/2017 09:20

Whoop, Lolly that's great! I'm sure all will be fine, remember everything is infinitely easier now than it will be with babies in tow... you can just direct activities from the sofa, and go to a cafe if it all gets too much Smile It will be great having all the space!

Sorry you're not feeling well Mrs Crab. Pregnancy does knock your immune system out so you're probably just fighting off colds etc. Toxoplasmosis is so incredibly rare, I think it affects less than one pregnant woman per year in the UK. I wouldn't know what the symptoms were. Try not to worry xx

Bear yes I am really excited to have a garden and space! Just hoping we get two weeks in the house before the twins arrive. I will be just directing for sure!!
We start NCT on Saturday!! I've got the consultant tomorrow and a scan on Monday so will be good to see how things are doing.

xxx

MrsCrabtree · 31/05/2017 13:16

Thanks guys. Yeah I know you're right, it is so rare and there's no good reason to think I have it, other than worst case scenario! I have an hosp appt tomorrow so I might ask them then just to set my mind at rest.

Lolly NCT too, exciting. You're busy! What an exciting time Smile

Lolly2803 · 31/05/2017 13:29

Yer def mention it but honestly I wouldn't worry.
Yep I don't know anyone with a baby and we are moving to a new area so thought it would be good to make some mummy friends. It's DH birthday so this year he is spending it at NCT! xxx

Bear2014 · 01/06/2017 09:41

That's so exciting Lolly about NCT! You hear a lot of mixed things about it but in terms of meeting people, it's the best thing we ever did. In October this year it will be 4 years since we met our group and we're still great friends with all 8 of the other families. We all had a big BBQ last weekend and do girly drinks every month without fail. It transformed my mat leave and parenting experience from being potentially quite isolating to being a social bonanza! And DD loves her little mates who all live so close by.

In terms of the content, i really can't remember any of it, can't say much of it was of any use to me after I ended up needing an elective but it doesn't matter at all, it's all about making the connections xx

Lolly2803 · 01/06/2017 11:33

Yer I'm really excited to make some mummy friends in the new area we will be living. I hear so many good stories about the friendships people make so it's mainly that we are doing it for. We start on Sat!!

Had consultant this morning and tested +1 protein in my urine and high BP. They've done some bloods and sent my urine off and am just waiting to have my blood pressure monitored for a while.
Anyone else had any protein in their urine or anything? Got a quick peek at the twins and she said all looked good. They both head down now and facing each other. We have a proper scan on Monday.

How hot is it today?! I'm boiling!!! Can't wait to get home in the cool and have an ice lolly!! xxx

Bear2014 · 01/06/2017 12:13

No experience with that I'm afraid, but hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it. No wonder your BP is up with 2 big babies in there! Good that they're both head down though xx

OP posts:
Lolly2803 · 01/06/2017 13:20

BP went down a bit so I am home now. Get bloods back tomorrow and then Monday before the scan they want to monitor it again. Started mentioning pre-eclampsia signs which has scared me. Now I'm worried it's all going to go wrong at the end.

Bear2014 · 01/06/2017 13:25

They have to be careful and keep an eye on you but try not to worry about it - there's a difference between showing signs of something and actually developing it full blown. If they have to get the babes out quickly, you've cooked them to a good size now xx

RafflesMaidenSister · 01/06/2017 13:30

Hope everyone is feeling better. MrsC sounds worrying but try not to panic about toxo - there are only 350 reported cases in England and Wales per year according to the NHS.

It's absolutely sweltering today isn't it? In common with a lot of you I am in the process of moving too. From end of June I will start commuting by train rather than car, which I'm dreading, particularly if it's hot. Fortunately my hours are super-flexible so planning on going in about 6 am and leaving about 4 pm to mostly avoid the crowds. Have to get my stuff out of our flat on Saturday and Mr RMS is away so that's going to be exciting.

I'm on the fence about NCT - I really don't want to have to go by myself all the time but in our area they are in the week when Mr RMS is not about. Will probably just bite the bullet and go by myself anyway. Just don't know if the making contacts point is relevant to me because I wont have much maternity leave and tend to spend a lot of time by myself anyway.

We've started looking for a nanny now, which we apparently need to do this early, though it is making me nervous. I have no clue what I'm doing! Guess it will just be trial and error.

Hope test results come back OK, Lolly! Thinking of all our fellow beached whales in this heat.

Bear2014 · 01/06/2017 13:48

Hi Raffles! Hope you're feeling ok. Good luck with the move!

I would definitely still go to NCT. If you have the possibility of a natural birth (I can't remember if you do?) then it is all very useful info to have, and even if you don't end up hanging out with the others much it is good to have people to chat to on Whatsapp who are at the same stage/just meet for the odd coffee. Mat leave is a short period of your life but I have found it's actually come into its own since then - a lot of us work part time and we meet up at the weekends as the kids get on so well as well. It's a nice little extra social thing for them that's not just nursery.

If your DH can't go with you, I'm sure it would be fine to take someone else along with you instead, if you want xx

MrsCrabtree · 02/06/2017 08:33

Thanks for not acting like I'm crazy everyone! I know I am being highly irrational. I just get so scared something will go wrong. My brain continues to struggle to compute the idea of a real and hopefully healthy baby on the way.

Exciting about your move too Raffles! Wow it's all going on. I feel left out not moving or doing major building works Grin I think you should do NCT if you can - I've not started mine yet but I reckon you'll be glad of a few people to meet with/message in the night in the weeks after baby arrives. Plus then as Bear says this can hopefully carry on as a support system after you go back to work.

Grateful for a slightly cooler day today! Anyone else's sleep up the spout with the heat and the early light and the being massive and the constant loo trips?! X

Lolly2803 · 02/06/2017 09:02

Mrs Crab yes!!!! It takes me forever and ever to fall asleep these day. I think largely due to my restless legs which are the most annoying symptom ever. And then I'm up a few times in the night to the loo. And that as well as going 2/3 times while I am getting ready for bed!
I also am the same about worrying. I worry every day that something is going to go wrong at the last minute. Think that's just a side effect from fertility treatment and previous histories but it's hard to overcome isn't it. Hopefully we can try keep each other sane and offer virtual slaps when needed!! Haha!!

Raffles when do you start NCT? I'm starting Sat and actually looking forward to it. I'm sure there are loads of people if it's in the week who's partners aren't able to join. I wouldn't let that put you off for sure. My DH might not make the one on Sunday but I'm still going to go. I'm sure everyone will be really welcoming and lovely. Worth a try! No idea about nannies I'm afraid but I'd think it would be good to start early to make sure you find one you are really comfortable and happy with. Don't envy your upcoming commuting plans but hopefully your fellow passengers will be nice and give you a seat and at those times you'll probably be ok and it won't be as hot and stuffy so hope it's all ok for you. xxx
