I'm so glad I bolded cake's name! Could have done with a comma as well though. Grin

GreedyDuck · 12/04/2017 10:52

I wonder if I'm having a boy this time, just because I had a slight whiff of nausea for a couple of weeks, which I didn't with dd.

Secretly hoping for another girl so I can reuse some of the beautiful summer play suits that dd only wore a few times, I'm not ready to give them away yet. I do think that I'll feel a momentary sadness for the son I'll never have though, if that is the case.

weasledee · 12/04/2017 12:31

Got my bfp this morning! Very lucky as month 1 of trying for no. 3
In shock to be honest :)

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 12/04/2017 14:57

Oldschool and Weaseldee congratulations!

GreedyDuck I was sick as a pig with my son. From about week 8. He threw everything at me from all day puking, to a raging uti that led to kidney infections, to soaring or plummeting blood pressure, anaemia, piles, heartburn, oh an reduced movement interspersed with an irritable uterus.
Daughter just made me feel hungover as hell and fat from day one.
I don't feel anywhere near as bad with this one just vaguely nauseous, exhausted and very weepy hence the fretting I think.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 12/04/2017 14:58

GreedyDuck sorry missed your post re the bloods next week.

All the best.

GreedyDuck · 12/04/2017 23:09

Thanks gin, when are yours?

Teabagtits · 13/04/2017 04:56

Awake. AWAAAAAAAAKE :(
Bloody indigestion and itching :(

mightymouse76 · 13/04/2017 05:10

Crikey, hello everyone! I've not been on since blondes had her bundle (how you doing, blondes?!) and the group had swelled in numbers, in all ways!

Glad to know we've still 'got it' despite being 'more experienced at life'.Grin

I haven't had a chance to read everything I have missed but I gather some have had tough breaks recently- sending warm thoughts for better luck on the next cycle.

I think you began introducing yourselves at the beginning of this thread as it's grown so much, so here goes:
40yrs old, 1st baby, spontaneous conception (on IVF waiting list), and 34 weeks. Elective CS due in 4 weeks due to placenta preavia and a nice bout of gestational diabetes that kicked in at 31 weeks. Currently awake as apparently this is party time. Actually think he's just shifted himself into transverse as I type.

Look forward to chatting with you all!
Hopefully not always at such an unsociable hour...

Iusuallylovecake · 13/04/2017 06:35

Thanks greedy I also have images of a pens cake now!!! Although after the ultrasound close up we were treated to I don't need much imagination!! Confused
Welcome all newbies, very impressed with us oldies at the moment, loads of us here!!
I share your early morning pain mighty and teabag. Half 3 is my usual party time, it's great isn't it?!!!

weasledee · 13/04/2017 07:50

I agree mightymouse, it is reassuring that so many of us "mature" (debatable!!) mums can still get pregnant when they write you off past 40! Proves the medical world doesn't always know everything! Doctors told my friend she'd need fairy dust to get pregnant, she is now the mum to 2 boys......

ChristmasSeacow · 13/04/2017 08:35

Hi mighty! Only 4 weeks to go, gosh. Out of interest, how did you pick up your GD at 31 weeks? I had a GTT about 5 weeks ago and all clear but I am a prime candidate so feel I shouldn't assume that's definitely it.

There are so many new people I have slightly lost track, my apologies to everyone!

Heartburn (and needing a wee) is what wakes me up at night- baby doesn't move much at night except when I first get into bed and when I turn over (this is a rare event as I have SPD and it is bloody difficult!) . I made the mistake of sitting on the grass in our local park yesterday while DS had an ice cream and I thought I was going to need the fire brigade to get me up again.

Hooray for the long easter weekend!

Disastronaut · 13/04/2017 10:18

Morning all, I need a quick stress-out - bear with me!

I'm 15+1, and I had the tiniest bit of blood when I wiped after going to the loo this morning. Really, it was almost nothing, and any non-mad person would dismiss it, but I just can't. It's the possibility of what might come next that I just can't handle.

I had a couple of small bleeds with my DD after 20 weeks and it was nothing, and a friend had a massive bleed at around the same time & the baby was fine.

It's the not knowing, the holding your breath that really wears you down, the feeling that your life could split and go down two separate paths, one with a baby and one without, and you've got no control over which is will be. It just makes me want to lie down and cry.

That's all really. Someone tell me pull myself together and woman up!

In other news, god I'm constipated.

Iusuallylovecake · 13/04/2017 11:07

Disastronaut I know that feeling, was there last week. Ring triage, they'll check you over and put your mind at ease. It's probably nothing but no amount of people telling you that will help. S

Iusuallylovecake · 13/04/2017 11:08

Grrr, pressed too soon!!!
Sending hugs and good wishes CakeFlowers

Disastronaut · 13/04/2017 11:12

Thanks cake,** really appreciate it.

I'm going to give it till lunch, make myself go to the loo, and if there's anything at all I'll get it checked out.

I've actually got a routine appointment on Tuesday, but I can't face fretting through a bank holiday weekend.

PingusMistress · 14/04/2017 07:26

Damned pregnancy insomnia. I've been awake since 5.45am. On a bank holiday! Angry

How are things today distronaut?

I'm quite excited as I found baby's heartbeat on a Doppler last night. It brought a tear to my eye, I'd convinced myself something was wrong! My dating scan isn't until next week so I feel a bit less stressed about it now. Although I will still worry about the NT.

The slightly concerning thing is that it was below my bump. Which means my bump is made of cheese on toast and creme eggs, not baby Grin

user1491934204 · 14/04/2017 11:40

Hi All,

Just wanted to support expecting mothers over forty. I was 46 when I had my second child (conceived naturally but not planned) and was anxious throughout the pregnancy, frantically checking posts for over 40s mums. I had all the tests under the sun but everything was fine.
My new bundle of joy is now 2 and she is healthy and happy so wanted to tell "geriatric mothers" out there to stay serene and confident, after all women's bodies are programmed to have children until menopause kicks in which is usually in mid 50s. Big hug to you all.

Disastronaut · 14/04/2017 19:33

Hi pingu thanks for asking! I had a tiny bit more blood so took myself off to the hospital, got scanned and all is well! Great relief. Seems my placenta is quite low though, so I'm going to ask about that at my proper appointment on Tuesday.

User - what a lovely post, we need all the success stories we can get!

Brugmansia · 15/04/2017 06:24

I've had a bit if spotting this morning. More than last time and redder, but still very slight and watery. Fingers crossed. I'm away for easter and have my booking in appointment on Tuesday so can't do anything like try to get a scan until then anyway.

Teabagtits · 17/04/2017 23:33

So who's next up to have their baby now Blondes has had hers?

I've horrible restless limbs (arms and legs) tonight which is annoying as it's my first night in my own comfy bed for a week so was hoping for nice sleep. Wishful thinking :(

mightymouse76 · 18/04/2017 02:40

Hi all
Um... @Teabagtits that might be me at this rate. 35 weeks today, bleed yesterday, and have been in hospital since yesterday morning (not my elected home hospital either as staying with family over Easter).

First steroid Injection done for baby, second at 11am tomorrow, and am having to test blood sugars every two hours day and night as can steroids peak diabetic blood sugars and cancel themselves out. So prob in until Wednesday morning all being well with no further bleeding.

If I do get further bleeding i may have an even earlier section as the concern will be placental abruption (mine is posterior low).

So feel free to place your bets ; )

@ChristmasSeacow hi there, long time! Hope you are well. My GD was picked up at a 31 week scan- too much amniotic fluid (above 95th percentile). GTT followed a week later which I failed, but not by loads- I think I scored a 9 on post lucozade binge (upper limit was 7). I'm still diet managed.
Have you had any further issues/tests? Hope it's all fine.

@weasledee And @user1490174334 Such nice reassuring posts re our 'maturity' GrinAlthough I don't feel like the best advert for our demographic right now...On one hand I feel air-punchingly proud to have got this far, then I look up and remember where I am! Confused

Hope everyone has had a nice long weekend

weasledee · 18/04/2017 09:33

I'm going for a blood test later. I had flu a month ago so they wanted to check my blood has returned to normal.
I'm wondering if I should now mention I'm pregnant or not (only 4 weeks). There's no need to mention it but was thinking it might be something they check for generally in women, if that makes sense! Not want them phoning me in work to "tell me"

ja73 · 18/04/2017 10:37

Hi All

I am sooo grateful for this thread! I'm not the only 40+ woman pregnant out there - phew!

I'm 43 years old, 6 weeks pregnant, and this is my first pregnancy. Me and my partner are cautiously ecstatic. "Researching" anything from Dr Google about pregnancy in your 40s is, I've discovered, not a good idea. We're just hoping and praying this goes to plan.

Congratulations to all the other 40+ pregnant ladies out there :)

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 18/04/2017 10:49

Congrat ja73 and yes stay away from google. ''Tis the enemy of a pregnant woman never mind a forty something pregnant woman!

I've finally got my booking in appointment today. Third child and I'm still as nervous as with the first. If it more. Just want the next few few weeks with first scan and blood tests over with.

How's everyone else doing?

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 18/04/2017 10:49

If not more not if it more.....
Christ 42 and I still can't spell or proofread it seems.......
