Great news greedy, relax a little now!

Teaspoon74 · 10/04/2017 16:49

Greedy - good news!

ChristmasSeacow · 10/04/2017 16:56

Great news Greedy. A friend of mine had 2or 3 significant bleeds in her recent pregnancy and it was apparently a polyp near her cervix (or something similar). Not harmful, and bleeding unrelated to the pregnancy but gave her a massive scare a couple of times - it wasn't diagnosed initially.

I feel
Enormous. Anyone else?

PingusMistress · 10/04/2017 17:06

That is lovely news greedy! I have my dating scan next week too, we must be due around the same time.

Did you call and find out more about your scan text brugs? I wasn't offered an early scan but I would grab it with both hands given the chance! It will be same day as my scan if it goes ahead so we can get nervous together Smile

Yes seacow I feel huge too! I ordered 24 packs of crisps in the online supermarket order, didn't seem much until they arrived today and they take up half the kitchen. DH said "I'm sure you ate really healthily in your last pregnancy, what is going on?" Blush

Teaspoon74 · 10/04/2017 17:37

Christmas me too. OH has (admittedly only once- he's not that brace!) called me the Wee Whale due to size and frequent loo trips.... which is nice!

Teabagtits · 10/04/2017 17:50

christmas I feel a lot larger than I look. I weighed myself for the first time since booking and have only put on 6lb so I'm quite huffed. Bump still small but at least it no longer resembles an extra pie!

teaspoon my oh wouldn't dare comment on my size... I'd go all hormonal on his arse!

My mum took me out to buy the crib today. Bought the Chicco next to me. I've asked her to keep it at her house until nearer the time as I'm a wee bit superstitious

Teaspoon74 · 10/04/2017 18:22

Teabag I may have done that a little bit ;)

Funny think is my bump is now pretty pronounced mahoosive BUT I'm about 6lbs lighter than I was at 12 wks, and I was over a stone lighter about a month ago, so bigger, but not heavier. All v odd!!

Teabagtits · 11/04/2017 01:31

Teaspoon I weighed myself last night for first time since booking and have put on 6lb. I lost 2 stone from prepregnancy thanks to sickness. I'm hoping I can go back to my HG weight once baby is born!

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 11/04/2017 10:39

I'm 42 and almost ten weeks with my third and I am starting to get really worked up about the dating scan and the NT test.
I had my first at 39 and my second at just turned 41. Both were low risk and I was fairly relaxed about the lead up to the dating scan and results, well not relaxed but not hysterical like this.

Can someone virtually slap me around the head a bit and tell me to get a grip? I can't sleep for it and just reading the antenatal tests section constantly 😓

Ekphrasis · 11/04/2017 11:32

Aw gin that sounds so stressful, and I know I'd be feeling similar.

Before I mc I found it helpful to think through what I wanted to do regarding tests etc. For example, do we get the harmony test before the 12 wk scan or wait. I'm
Not sure it really helped hugely though I felt like I had a level of control.

I think it's the not knowing and feeling impatient to know isn't it?

GreedyDuck · 11/04/2017 12:55

Gin, if it's any consolation I am feeling very similar about the screening tests. I feel like I have an axe hovering above my neck. My result with DD at 40 was pretty good (1:1700) although I still opted for the Harmony test as well. Very worried that it will be much higher risk this time as I'm 43. Plus, this is definitely the last time I am doing this, so there may be some tough decisions to make.

Pingus my edd is 29th October although I expect I'll be having another c-section so will probably be more like 21st.

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 11/04/2017 13:14

Ekphrasis sorry to hear of your sad news. Life is rotten, really rotten sometimes. We already know if there's "wrong" we'll terminate, as we've got two young children and need to put them first. I have ruled out the private blood tests, as a risk isn't enough for me I'd want the definite clarity that comes with cvs or amniocentesis . Just a waiting game until the scan and bloods now I guess but seem so doom and gloom I can't shake this awful feeling off.
GreedyDuck thanks for sharing your worries too. It's good to not alone in all of this isn't it? I concur with the axe analogy. Let's keep our fingers crossed for each other. When are you going to be having the bloods taken?

Ekphrasis · 11/04/2017 13:23

The anticipation is awful. I have my fingers crossed for both of you. I'll be going loopy if I get there that stage!

Ginlinessisnexttogodliness · 11/04/2017 13:35

Ekphrasis I hope you do. Not go loopy but get to that stage that is.
It's the not knowing and the self flagellation and speculation in fairly equal measures. I know I'm not really too old for another baby, the fact I'm pregnant is enough to refute that mindset, but I'm being hard on myself. Nobody else is not even my midwife. Really peculiar. I'm putting it down to the lack of control which should really just make me more relaxed and philosophical, but is instead of course propelling me on this rollercoaster of hysteria and what ifs.

I basically need a hefty gin & tonic

THirdEeye · 11/04/2017 13:36

I haven't posted much, but have been reading the thread, so sorry to hear that some of you are having a tough time.

I've just received my 12 week appointment and I'm now quite nervous (we opted for the screening tests).

The midwife said that it would be just a yes/no anwser....but after reading up, it says that I would be put as high risk because of my age (40) is that right?

Is it worth getting the harmony test?

Ekphrasis · 11/04/2017 13:57

gin I decided to make some rhubarb and ginger gin that I could keep for a looong time and look at when I need to! And glug if things not happening!

Ekphrasis · 11/04/2017 13:59

Third, you could wait till measurements are taken and see what the odds are and then decide?

It's all going to be different next year as the test will be on the NHS. Have you talked to your mw?

THirdEeye · 11/04/2017 14:17

Well she said there would be a scan doing a measurement and l would also be having a blood test....

PingusMistress · 11/04/2017 15:19

Third eye that sounds like the standard NHS test where they measure the nuchal fold on the scan and combine it with blood test results to come back with a risk. I was 37 when had DD and my downs risk was 1 in 500, but I think it automatically gets worse with age just due to how they calculate it.

I'm undecided about the Harmony test, I was going to have it as early as possible and combine it with an early scan but the sonographer at the private clinic was on holiday when I wanted it. So I think I'll wait for the NHS results and then do it if I'm worried. It still isn't 100% accurate anyway (and it is damned expensive!)

Greedy snap on due dates! Wink

Iusuallylovecake · 11/04/2017 18:10

Evening all, hope all doing OK. Gin, greedy, thirdeye, anyone else stressing over tests I totally get where you're coming from. I hated the wait to have them and then the wait for the results - yuk!! My little one decided to lay the wrong way at the scan so then had to wait another few weeks for a blood test instead of combined test. It's a horrible time, try to stay positive easily said I know. There are many positive stories on here so hang on in there!!!
I'm just over 31 weeks and went for growth scan today, bit of a shock, little girl is now a little boy!!!!! Good job we'd bought neutral!!!!!!

Teabagtits · 11/04/2017 22:49

cake I worry that we'll discover our boy is actually a girl at a growth scan, mainly because my mum has told everyone it's a boy. It took me awhile to get used to the idea as I'd hoped for another girl.

GreedyDuck · 12/04/2017 07:09

Yay, congratulations on growing a penis cake! Wink

Bloods next Wednesday gin. Like you, we know that we wouldn't continue with the pregnancy, but I know it will break me to make that decision if it's Downs, as opposed to Edwards or Patau. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts.

Nice to have a due date twin Pingu!

Oldschool41 · 12/04/2017 07:09

Hi everyone, I am 41 and got a bfp yesterday I'm 4 weeks and 1 day if I go by last period. I'm excited but nervous all at the same time.

Brugmansia · 12/04/2017 08:04

Hello again. I haven't called yet about the mystery appointment. I thought I'd leave it a couple of days to see if a letter also arrived. Part of me is wondering if they've made a mistake on my dates and if I contact them it may be changed. If I just go along I could accidentally get an extra scan. I have my booking in appointment with my midwife on Tuesday so should probably check with her.

PingusMistress · 12/04/2017 08:24

Welcome oldschool!

Greedy your message made me think of a cake in the shape of a penis. Grin

A friend of mine was told she was having a girl and ended up having a boy. Poor little mite was dressed head to toe in pink at the hospital!
