Sounds good GMM - would be good to see everyone and meet the newcomers. And of course all the new bubs. We're off on hols up north some time in the next couple of weeks, but should be back by end of Aug I think - will keep you posted.

dansmumscot · 30/07/2007 22:27

Hi ladies

I am new to Mumsnet - living in Edinburgh and I have a 10 week old baby boy. I don't know many people with babies and would love to join your thread.

I have been reading Vio's story and my heart really goes out to her, I have just gone to give my wee boy a kiss as I am so glad to have him and grateful that he is well.

TALLULAHBELLE · 31/07/2007 11:31

Welcome all the newbies

Meet up would be great GMM. End of Aug suits me. I don't have a car so would prefer Glasgow but could always catch a train if Edinburgh gets the majority vote.

If anyone else is BF and interested in taking part in a study looking at energy needs in exclusively BF babies then let me know. I've been recruited as I'm hoping to BF exclusively for 6 months but the woman doing the study is struggling to recruit people. It's quite interesting (honest!!) and involves some weighing, urine samples and ds drinking some "heavy" water (not radioactive or anything).

A meet at the end of august would be fun, I don't mind coming through to Glasgow.

Have been enjoying the sunshine at last - hope it carries on.

weeonion · 31/07/2007 21:46

hey hey folks - the tartan tribe gets bigger lovely to see and also great to have more bumps joining us - nice to have that to look forward to!!!
love the idea of a meet up - how cool would it be to take over somwhere!

vio - add yourself to the stats thread??

we seem to be missing some folks - lazyemma??

how nice is it to have sunshine?? my folks live by a wee fishing vilage so we went for our first paddle today. caoimhe was not impressed by the freezing irish sea. neither was her mummy!!

all going well here, but sleep is lacking (night and day is still a bit confused!)- he's an easy baby though so think we're really lucky
will try post a wee pic on profile in a min.

trixymalixy · 01/08/2007 21:05

Hi everyone, especially the newbies!!

Meet up sounds good, hopefullyu the weather will be nice so we can meet up in a park somewhere.

Loulee - Congratulations! Your DS is a wee cutie and your DD's look delighted!

Anjo - Can't believe your DS has two teeth already. He always seems to be one step ahead of my DS. Although DS has just started sitting up [proud mum emoticon]

Tried DS on Nutramigen today. He refused to take any more than an ounce and then came up in hives again . Looks like I'm in for the long haul with bfing.

Liath - if they're looking for babies over 6 months then looks like I might be able to take part in the study!!

WO - hope your boobs are better

Watched 'THe Boy whose skin fell off- the other night, it happened to be on Discovery and james was sleeping in my arms when we watched it..( I suppose it was probably a good thing that we both didn't get a chance to watch it before James was born ) I was told not to search for any info about EB when we were still waiting for the result of his skin biopsy.... I dont know what it is like to be a EB patient but i do know what it is like to be a parent of a EB sufferer..its a lot a lot of pain watching your child dying in a terribly painful way.

Jonny chose Queen's -Dont stop me now- to be played at his funeral...I was driving my car to Asda yesterday and i had the radio on,...when it played this song...i cried...i just cried , i thought of Jonny and james and all others who live with EB ...i am totally aware that i am lucky to be born healthy but my son isn't... stimes my head is a mess...

i've added my stats.

Hi all and welcome myweegirl (assuming you're not in the throes of labour). My what a lot of newbies we have - good to have a new batch just as our eggs were all about laid, otherwise we might have got thrown off the pregnancy threads.

Hope everyone's well. Not much news here except that ds2 is sitting up and now has three teeth. Unfortunately hasn't changed his rubbish sleeping patterns though so still up half the flippin night feeding him.

trixymalixy · 07/08/2007 16:16

Hi everyone, especially all the newbies.

My DS is sitting up as well midnight. No teeth yet thank god although he has been teething the past couple of days I think. How are you finding bfing your DS with teeth? i think I had planned to give up bfing when DS started getting teeth, but won't be able to do that now.

Forgot to add myself to the stats as well!!

trixymalixy · 07/08/2007 16:17

Oh and my DS has a terrible sleeping pattern as well!!

midnightexpress · 07/08/2007 18:24

Hi Trixy - not too bad with the teeth and bf. We had a couple of weeks when the first two came in where he bit me at the end of feeds, but I yelped loudly and unlatched him each time and he got the message pretty quickly.

Glad not the only one with terrible sleep too. DS1 was sleeping through by 6 months, so fondly imagined we'd have ds2 in with him and unbroken nights by now. Ha.

liath · 07/08/2007 20:01

Hi & welcome to the new folk .

Ds is crap at night too. Dd was sleeping through at 12 weeks in her own cot in her own room. Ds is 16 weeks, won't settle in his cot at night & feeds 3-4 times a night....Wonder if it's a BF thing as dd was FF by 12 weeks or maybe it's my fault for co-sleeping. Oh well! I quite like being snuggled up with him at night.

Getting very busy here in Edinburgh - loads of tourists around blocking the pavements ! It's fringe Sunday in the Meadows this weekend so might wander along.

trixymalixy · 07/08/2007 20:23

have you started weaning midnight?

DS will not let me put a spoon anywhere near his mouth. Have been trying a bit of bLW as well which seems to be going a bit better. I'm fed up with the whole thing already though, it's so messy.

god knows why so many people are desperate to start weaning early it's such a hassle!

Liath I have ended up co-sleeping for at least part of the night. Only way I can cope with night feeds! i sometimes wonder if it is making him wake more, but can't face having to et out of bed to feed Ds.

liath · 07/08/2007 20:30

Ditto trixy - don't know if he's feeding so much at night because I'm co-sleeping, but co-sleeping is the only way I can cope as I can feed him half asleep.

BTW 2happy has a hilarious picture on her profile of the face her ds pulls every time she tries to give him solids. Weaning is such a faff and OMG the change in poo is horrific .

trixymalixy · 07/08/2007 20:40

I've seen the picture. It's hilarious!

If I do manage to spoon some food into DS' mouth he shudders and holds his mouth open untill it falls out again.

Bit depressing when other people's babies just seem to go yum yum right from the beginning and gobble up anything they're offered.

I said I'd never co-sleep before having DS,I'd never give a dummy etc etc LOL!! You just do what gets you through it!

midnightexpress · 07/08/2007 21:05

Trixy, Liath, me three! Won't settle in his cot after I get into bed, so co-sleeping and not sure if that's why he's up half the night. But nice and snuggly too and gets me through the night half-sane.

Ah0ha, I hear his dulcet tones...

Trixy, yes, he eats like a horse too. Better dash! More anon.
