Yay Glorious sunshine !!

bed before 8PM ? you lucky lucky thing ,
mine didn't go to sleep till 10 pm and has been practically up all night here, seemed to want feeding every other hour almost .
I'm off shopping , get this , Without the baby !! a first .Leaving him with his Dad for the first time and going into Glasgow to shop for a wedding outfit ( not my wedding )
wonder how that will go ,hmmm, better check for poker tables before I go

Loulee · 09/06/2007 09:35

yeah, what a fab day! enjoy your shopping trip anjo. We're off to the naturewatch thing in kelvingrove - dd1 very keen to meet Nina and the neurons! (tv, for those of you that don't know the delights of cbeebies!)

Anjo1 · 09/06/2007 09:39

oh Talullah , meant to say , I refused a sweep as well because the MW said the baby wasn't fully engaged even , so I figured highly unlikely I'll be dilated, therefore no point in a sweep (??).
In the 13 days I was overdue I walked into town a few times, distance of about 2miles downhill , had reflexology on a friday ,had a lovely birth( in retrospect that is !!) on the sunday. You're right your LO will come when he/she's ready .
xx

Anjo1 · 09/06/2007 09:42

Loulee- have a lovely day with your DDs ( and Nina and the neurons !!)
xx

midnightexpress · 09/06/2007 11:38

Ahh, Anjo, but then pulled a blinder by getting up at 2.30 and refusing to go back to sleep. And has been screaming more or less non-stop since 7am. Poor spotty one.

I have shut the door for 5 mins to retain my sanity.

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/06/2007 11:42

Thanks for tips. Yes, the midwife said to keep as active as possible so lots of walks in the park coming on. Hopefully weather stays as nice as today . Am planning on heading to West End festival tomorrow in hope that the noise and hustle & bustle will scare this one out!!!!

geordiemacminx · 09/06/2007 18:59

i have been there all day loulee... didnt see you though... have managed to get burnt shoulders

Loulee · 10/06/2007 14:36

After all that, we ended up not going - shame cos i was actually looking forward to it and it was such a lovely day. nevermind. was it good GMM?
west end festival parade instead i think.
happy trekking Tallulah!

sympathise with all the exhausting waking hours everyone. you're not the only ones

Loulee · 12/06/2007 08:06

Tallulah - any news or you still waiting???! Thinking of you x

weeonion · 12/06/2007 09:28

morning folks. i was also thinking of tulla through the night and wondering how she was.....
i was up expressing milk at 4.30 today - it was such a lovely morning that in a hormone rush i was thinking that i might try this everyday before i wised up and realised the folly of such thoughts. up until march it WAS the time i arose at - how times change!

on a different note i am starting to panic a bit over childcare for january. ther eis so litle in our area and alot of the places are booked out by the council for their own caseloads. i rang 3 nurseries yesterday and was told - no chance. arghhh. what are the rest of you planning on??

OP posts:
midnightexpress · 12/06/2007 10:41

Hi WO. Childcare is such a trauma isn't it? We stuck our heads in the sand for months first time round and seem to be doing much the same again this time...not much advice to offer, but I would suggest putting your name on waiting lists anyway. We ended up getting a place at our favourite nursery, even though they'd told us there wouldn't be space for 6 months. I guess people's plans change, kids leave and people higher up the list take up other offers, or don't want the hours they're offered, so it's worth being down on the list. Are you going back full-time?

I found it SOOOOOO traumatic leaving ds1 for the first time, and still have the odd moment (fortunately dp drops him off in the mornings these days). But he seems to enjoy himself.

Loulee · 12/06/2007 12:15

WO - my friend lives round by you and swears by a council nursery that also has a baby room. I'll try to find out what it's called for you..

TALLULAHBELLE · 12/06/2007 12:23

Hi everyone - still waiting -aaaargggghh!
No sign of anything imminent either. Am really hoping to avoid an induction but thinking should start getting used to the idea.

trixymalixy · 12/06/2007 18:43

Hi guys,

Ds' feeding seems to have improved after the CO. he isn't screaming in pain anymore. Pity she can't do anything about him getting really distracted while feeding!!

His sleeping hasn't really improved though Midnight, he was up every 2hours or so last night. I'm knackered!

WO - LOL at your washing "oh you canny fling washing oot a 2 storey flat!!"

Anjo - can't believe your DS can turn himself over already!

Tallulah - got my fingers crossed for you!

midnightexpress · 12/06/2007 21:03

Hi there Trixy. Glad the feeding is going a bit better. It's so horrid seeing them all twisty and uncomfortable isn't it? I've booked in ds2 for CO on Friday, though he actually seems loads better after his wee illness last week - all smiles and giggles. Still waking every 2 hours or so at night too though. We have also (whisper it) given him a little bit of baby rice this week to see how that affects things (if at all) - he's been staring longingly at our food, and samples the rice with great interest.
Tallulah - thinking of you and looking forward to hearing your news. Why are they inducing only a week after your EDD? Could you leave it until 42 weeks (assuming you'd want to)?

TALLULAHBELLE · 12/06/2007 21:29

Hi Midnight - they'll take me in Sat & try to ripen my cervix. Won't put me on drip & break my waters till Sun & will be 9 days over by then. Think they usually go for 10 days before induction so assume it's just cos they have bed available. Don't really want the induction but think would get too anxious waiting till 42 weeks.

trixymalixy · 12/06/2007 21:36

Midnight - have been thinking about weaning as well. My Mum keeps going on about it and loads of other people on the Jan post-natal thread have started. I'm not going to contemplate it until we get back from our holiday when DS will be 23 weeks and see if he is gazing at our food longingly.

How many weeks is your Lo now?

midnightexpress · 13/06/2007 08:06

He's just coming up to 21 weeks Trixy. What is it with mums - mine's the same. Every time he cries, she reckons it's because he needs more food (ie more food than she reckons I'm able to provide ). I think it must be a generational thing. Anyway, I think we started weaning ds1 at about the same time, but I think I was keener with him because he was ff and I wanted him to be eating lots of nice organic veggies and stuff rather than bottles of formula. And of course it's always more exciting with number one, until you realise how dull making endless ice cube trays of pureed carrot really is . And how revolting their nappies are going to become in a little while...

Are you going anywhere nice on your hols?

Tallulah - I'm sure the whole thread is willing that baby out before the weekend!

Anjo1 · 13/06/2007 11:39

Hey everyone!
Trixy - glad to hear things are a bit better with your (gorgeous!!, still can't get over that head of hair! )DS .
yes my little crazy one can roll over and- nightmare - does it ALL the time. he can only roll from his back to his front though , not figured out how to do it the other way LOL!!means you cannot leave him anywhere unsecured unless it's the floor and even then you have to make sure there's a huge expanse of playmat/blanket or you'll find him ,on the carpet (ouch)
Are you going abroad for your Holidays ,? have you got a passport for your DS ? I want to go to Sweden this summer to visit a friend but keep putting getting his passport off , if you have got one , was it straight forward getting it?
Tallulah- hope you're okay , am totally willing the baby out before the weekend !
xxx

TALLULAHBELLE · 13/06/2007 12:35

Hi everyone - hope all the positive vibes have the desired effect - thanks.

Am having a chuckle at the weaning stories, knowing I have all this to come. Just had my aunt telling me how my cousin had to put her DS onto solids before 3 months cos he was so hungry. He is not yet 5 months but such a good baby cos he eats like a horse! DM had already regaled me with this tale as a good example of how you shouldn't listen to these professionals who tell you a load of rubbish -she told me - 'when your baby is crying in hunger you'll do the same- just crush up a rich tea biscuit in milk and it'll wolf it down'

So will be looking to you ladies for advice when my folks are force feeding my newborn milky ways and chocolate hobnobs.

midnightexpress · 13/06/2007 16:52

lol tallulah! My cousin was given mashed up Xmas dinner on his first Christmas (he is born in October ). This was a loooong time ago, I hasten to add.

TALLULAHBELLE · 13/06/2007 17:44

Yep - keep being told of folk who were on mince & tatties @ 6 weeks old - and it never did them any harm

trixymalixy · 13/06/2007 22:44

We're off to germany for a VW car show. Was booked before DS was even conceived otherwise i might have said no to going!

Anjo - I put off getting DS a passport until it was almost too late as it seemed too much hassle. It wasn't actually that bad in the end. I used www.picturelizard.co.uk for the photo, they give you instructions and guarantee that the photo will meet the proper standards and then used the post office check and send service.

It's nuts that he will have that passport until he's 5 though. He will have changed so much by then!

at all the early weaning stories!!

weeonion · 13/06/2007 23:43

evening folks!
gmm, anjo and myself went to visit vio and james this afternoon - a lovely time was had with cakes and biccies. it was so nice to meet james and see his fab mum again.

trixy - of you all hading off for a VW show. inoticed yr pic on yr profile was of a camper van. my fist car was a bright red beetle - LOVED it but it broke down every week. good on you for getting ben on holiday so soon. we fully expect pics and reports! when you heading off?

loulee - the LEA nursery close to hear gets really good reports but the manager told me that we stand next to no chance of getting in - the waiting list is huge and we woudl never get the right points. bah!

tulla - i wont go asking how you are getting on but just hope you are getting plenty of rest!

midnight - i wentout to the shop tonight and both dp and c looked guilty. were your lot round for another poker school??

OP posts:
midnightexpress · 14/06/2007 08:25

Oh that's where they were. I wondered how I'd ended up lounging around with nothing to do for an evening, reading magazines and eating bonbons.

Hope Vio's doing ok?

trixy - have you got a camper? We almost bought one pre-children and DP has started muttering about it again. I think office life is getting to him. We have a couple of friends with kids and campers and they go off on such adventures. Though the reality of it once ds2 starts moving and i have two of them to herd might change matters.
