We have just found out we are pregnant with our second child!!!! I have a name for a boy - Jack, but for a girl I am totally stumped, I always liked the name Amber, but I have gone off it recently, and quite like the name Tilly, but my husband doesn't like it, he quite likes the name Mia or Maya, and Grace has popped up a few times, but there are so many Graces' around. We wanted something a bit different for a girl. What do you think? Personally I quite like Tilly!

I luurve the name Hector, for me it's a similar type of name to Sebastian, latinate yet posh-Brideshead-revisited-floppy-fringe gorgeous-fanciable-male type of name, yet also a tad gangster and street, that's what any future ds will be called!

quietmouse · 07/03/2007 18:58

Hector - gangster and street?? really??

LulaMae · 07/03/2007 19:00

Mrs Badger and Lemonaid - wasn't she actually called Cecelia Maria or somethig like that? But by the later books, she was just called Robin without the "the"! She became a nun didn't she? I wonder if she was Sister Robin?

MrsBadger · 08/03/2007 08:31

Cecilia Marya, later Soeur Marie-Cécile (neat tie-in with the hypehnated French names below...)

"Hector was the first in the gang with a gun in his hand..." It's soooooo Latino gangster! (But don't let that song put you off) I love it too.
Robyn is much nicer than Maya.

TaylorsMummy · 08/03/2007 11:20

my neice is called Robyn. Why don't people like it spelt with a y? That's how it's spelt for a girl!!

ScottishThistle · 08/03/2007 11:30

Still plenty time to change your mind!

I know someone who had her child's name sorted from when she was about 14wks pregnant & when she arrived she said "She doesn't look like a X" then took another 4wks to name her!

I like Tilly too, although there does seem to be alot of Tilly's springing up around here recently.

Have you had a look at www.statistics.gov.uk/CCI/nugget.asp?ID=184&Pos=5&ColRank=1&Rank=192

It gives you the top 100 boy's and girl's names for 2006 and is the most accurate as its compiled from the names of all the babies registered in the UK last year.

I asked my darling DH to have a look at it, he said "why do I want to look at that, I don't want it to have a name the same as every other kid". Took a while to explain to him that how will he know what all the other kids are named if he doesn't look! Duh!
