Hello!
Any one else received their first BFP this month!? I am 4+5. Due November 10 and would love to talk to some other first time mummies as every twinge and niggle sends me into panic at the moment!! I'm sure I'm not the only one...

Thank you! Hmm I might wait till next Monday then. I'm off to Lisbon this weekend and I'm hoping I can stop stressing unnecessarily and enjoy the weekend away! I'm definitely impaitent. Dh had to wrestle the pg tests out of my hands as I keep doing them every morning Blush! Don't know where he has his them now haha.

Has anyone started making plans for after the baby is born, and then stopped because you don't want to "jinx" anything??

Moo31 · 14/03/2017 12:13

Sarmi - I am exactly the same! Before getting our BFP we were talking about baby names, nursery themes, etc but now I don't want to talk about any of that! I am literally counting the days until we get to 12 weeks (but in baby steps - 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 10 weeks, 12 weeks).

I have my booking apt next Tuesday and I will be 6+4. I am wanting to book an early private scan before we announce to our parents on Mothers Day (when I will be 7+2) but the only availability our local centre has is next Friday afternoon (when I will be 7 weeks) and OH isn't available - normally his work is flexible but he has a commitment that he really cannot get out of. I really don't want to go alone but I really want that scan before we make our announcement. What does anyone think I should do?

MistyBxx · 14/03/2017 12:30

Oh girls I can't keep away lol 😂
I'm feeling much more positive today. Read loads of reviews about clearblue online and the general consensus is don't take it as gospel. I'm not gonna do any more tests now. I will be 6 weeks on Thursday and due to ring midwife to actually make an apt on Monday. They won't actually see me til I'm 8+ though. That's just how it is around here.
But after next Thursday I will be 7 weeks and able to book an early scan so will defo be doing that. Is anyone taking anyone to an early scan? I was thinking of going alone. I know I should take hubs but I'd be devastated if something was wrong and I couldn't bear to look at his face. But if everything is fine (which I must believe!!!) I would want him there of course!!❤️ so a bit confused on that.
Also, no sickness yet but when I'm eating and drinking things, it's tasting like metal. Sounds weird and I know it's a symptom so I'm hopeful. It's not a constant taste though, I ate a delicious bagel with Philly and avocado for breakfast and it definitely tasted metallic lol.x

MistyBxx · 14/03/2017 12:31

But I have also quit smoking so could it just be my tastebuds recovering?x

Moo31 · 14/03/2017 12:56

Hi Misty, so glad you are feeling better! And welcome back :)

I have read about that metallic taste before, just googled it:
"A common pregnancy symptom in the first trimester, dysgeusia is the medical term for a change in your sense of taste; most often, you'll get a sour or metallic taste during pregnancy (yuck!) that persists even when you're not eating." there you go! Not just your tastebuds :)

xo

sophr2017 · 14/03/2017 13:19

Ah Moo that's a toughy! Personally I would want to go with OH, and he would kill me if he missed out! Can also see other side though! Can't you just tell really close family then others after the scan? I told mum and sister before my scan, I literally told them when I got the BFP!

mrsjkerry · 14/03/2017 14:10

Misty I booked mine for Saturday so husband could come with me. I contemplated going alone especially as I knew he'd moan if it was internal, but I don't think he'd actually let me go alone and of course he should be there to see the little bean too. I think if something were wrong I'd rather he were there because you have immediate support. Also, you'd only have to tell him anyway...and the news may be worse coming from you than from a doctor?

No symptoms for me other than tiredness. Keep waiting for any nausea. But none so far! It's due on Friday 😄

MistyBxx · 14/03/2017 14:57

Thing is, my hubs isn't actually one for emotion 😂 he gets scared if I'm upset about anything, I've lost relatives and pets and terrible days in work etc, been so upset and crying and he freezes up and doesn't know how to comfort me so if I wanted support, I'd want my mum 😳 but then couldn't have my mum setting eyes on his baby before him! So I think I will just ask him about it. He's starting a new job next week and may not be able to get days off work but if he wants to come and is able, then of course he will. But if not, I wouldn't be massively adverse to going alone if I have to. Just wish time would hurry up!!😩
I'm trying to take each day as it comes. Tomoz will be "6 week eve" haha.x

DarcyParty · 14/03/2017 15:35

Welcome back Misty! Fingers crossed your oh can make itx

I've just sorted my booking appointment, 28th March, so I'll be 7+5. I'm tempted to have an early scan at 8 weeks so I can rule out twins and tell our parents :) Will anyone be posting scan pics?

I'm so jealous you told your parents straight away, Sophr! My mam can't keep a secret to save her life, so we've ruled that out haha

oneofthose · 14/03/2017 16:28

I called the doctors and have sorted my booking appointment but it's not until the 11th April which would make me 9 weeks. Seems ages away, wish mine would let me have it earlier like you ladies!
I'm umm'ing and arrrr'ing about the early scan, think I might book one for the first week of Easter holidays when I'll be 8ish weeks. 12 weeks seems so long away to wait.

mrsjkerry · 14/03/2017 17:00

Haha 6 week eve. You must be very similar to me. I am 6 weeks on Friday misty.

I agree oneofthose. Twelve weeks does not work for those of us who are more anxious. My 8 week scan is 1 April.

And yes! I would love to see some scan pictures when we all have them!!

Tonks87 · 14/03/2017 17:23

I've just got back from my booking in appointment. It feels so much more real now! She asked about a million questions, took some bloods, a wee sample, took my weight and height. She said I'm really low risk which is great. She said my BMI was a little low (19.5 when the minimum is 18) but it's not worrying. I've taken it as an excuse to open up an Easter egg!

We've agreed that DH will be coming to all scans, he wouldn't want to miss seeing him for the first time.

sophr2017 · 14/03/2017 18:16

Tonks, I was the opposite with my BMI I was as 1 off being obese so I have to step away from the easter eggs 😂 Seems silly as I'm size 16 and 5ft 11 with huge boobs which probably weigh a fair amount 😂

Did they speak to you about the Down syndrome testing? Would be interested to get someone else's opinion, we've opted against it but was a really difficult decision

sophr2017 · 14/03/2017 18:17

My blob from the early scan! The black hole in the middle is the heart, and they put a colour over it to show me it beating as you can't hear it that early!

MistyBxx · 14/03/2017 18:39

Oh Soph that's lush!! I can't wait to see my little seed on one of these 😍 and I can't wait for my booking apt (if that's what the very first midwife/docs apt is called?) which I'm guessing will be the first week of April. Seems like so far away 😔 must be different in different areas as midwives here won't see me til I'm 8+ weeks.
Scan will probably be in the same week then, unless I can get it in earlier, I'm 7 weeks next Thursday. Roll on April I say lol x

sophr2017 · 14/03/2017 18:45

Misty it's such a long wait isn't it :(

I had my booking app yesterday at 9weeks+1. Most people in our area get it between 9-10 weeks. Apparently they will not see you any earlier unless previous complications. Seems like such a long time to wait, but I guess lots of people won't realise they are pregnant until later on, unlike us ladies who have been all over it and testing daily 😂

MistyBxx · 14/03/2017 19:05

That's so true. I honestly wish I hadn't tested so early but my period was 2 days late and I'm clockwork, even if I hadn't been ttc, I would have had an inkling! How far do normal people go without a period before test?? A week? A fortnight? Or are they just like "oh I will see if the next one arrives, if not, then I'll test" LOL 😂 I suppose people with irregular cycles etc may be different but for regular old me over here, I just had to!😂🙈

mrsjkerry · 14/03/2017 19:29

Soph what did they say to you about the test as I'm not sure what it is and what they do and if they can rule it out entirely...

OP posts:
ew1990 · 14/03/2017 19:31

Misty i waited 9 days till I tested as was so scared of a bfn xx

ew1990 · 14/03/2017 19:31

Don't know how I managed to hold out that long though c

MistyBxx · 14/03/2017 19:44

Omg Ew! That's mad 😂 well I was convinced I wasn't pg coz we only dtd 3 times in fw (and one time was "dry" if you know what I mean... it was late, we were tired and he didn't "finish" lol) so I literally didn't think for one sec I was gonna catch this month, I was on the ttc board like "whoop can't wait to see all your results this month, I'm out but hey ho!" But when af was a day late, I can't explain it, I just KNEW. Outwardly I was like oh no way. But in my head I was like ohhh I am 😍 I tested as soon as I was 2 days late and boom. Only now I wish I'd have held off 😩 but the good thing is, I quit smoking straight away and if I hadn't found out, I would definitely have been steaming drunk in the wedding I went to Saturday, so silver linings! Now I just have to wait for what seems like an eternity! I've only known I'm pg for 10 days, feels like 10 months 😂

sophr2017 · 14/03/2017 19:44

MrsJKerry do you mean the Down syndrome test? They give you so much info about it and there is lots on line, but I guess it just comes down to do you want to know and if you did know then what would you do about it? My answer was I would still have it but there is no right and wrong and others may feel different!

mrsjkerry · 14/03/2017 19:48

Yes I mean that test. Do they only offer it to you though if you are high risk? Because for my age the risk is something like 0.07%, but I would still like a test to be sure...

OP posts:
sophr2017 · 14/03/2017 19:51

No I'm low risk, it's offered to everyone in my area so assume it's the same? The first blood test tells you how likely it is then there is further testing if you have a high risk, but there is also risk with the further testing. You'll just tell them if you want it at booking in and can speak to your midwife, I don't think the actual test is until much later in pregnancy, can't remember how many weeks though!

mrsjkerry · 14/03/2017 19:53

I'd test for everything if I could!!!
