Hello!
Any one else received their first BFP this month!? I am 4+5. Due November 10 and would love to talk to some other first time mummies as every twinge and niggle sends me into panic at the moment!! I'm sure I'm not the only one...

I had my booking appointment today (7 +5) and was told my scan would be week of 8th May (just over 12 weeks). I'm away weeks 10-12. But don't know what's standard!

sophr2017 · 05/04/2017 20:53

Ew I had a letter from my hospital about a week after my booking appointment and my scan was booked for 12+1

ew1990 · 05/04/2017 20:58

I know it's gotta be when I'm 12 weeks so I've got just over 3 to go but just want the letter to come so can confirm date of scan I'm dead impatient lol xxx

tmc14 · 05/04/2017 21:12

Have you chased them? My midwife said to chase if I hadn't heard in a couple of weeks as sometimes they're a bit rubbish... that might just be my area though!!

Moo31 · 05/04/2017 21:16

I saw my gp today and she will refer me to the hospital who will send me a letter with one appointment to cover both booking appt and 12 week scan ... strange.

I also cried in work today as we lost one of "my" clients - I knew it wasn't the end of the world but it felt like it and everyone couldn't believe I was taking it so personally. I wanted to shout "I'm not taking it THAT personally, I'm just pregnant and hormonal!!" Haha!

Jessiecat27 · 06/04/2017 08:54

I got both of my letters together so maybe it depends on your gp? I'd definitely chase it though! The travel bands are really helping although I've probably just jinxed it! The boots ones are tiny though so if anyone is looking at getting any, you can get them on ebay for less than £3! This little bean seems to like me eating fruit but I can't stand much else which I guess is good!

ew1990 · 06/04/2017 11:49

I only saw my midwife Monday that why I was just wondering how long after you got it, got no patience sometimes lol xxx

Squigglefish · 06/04/2017 18:02

I saw my midwife on the Monday and got my letter with scan date on the Thursday

MSH2010 · 06/04/2017 19:57

I got my scan date by chasing them after 10days but mainly because I was getting close to 12 weeks

Dollydaydream2829 · 06/04/2017 20:05

I think it very much depends on the area you live in! I only had my first midwife appt today and I'm 8+4 but she booked my scan date there and then so had it for leaving. I wouldn't worry too much unless it got to 10/11 weeks and you hadn't heard a thing!

lydiangel83 · 07/04/2017 07:57

@ew1990 I saw midwife last Sunday and not heard yet re scan.

I'm on holiday in Japan with DH from 1-15th May which is when I will be 10-12 weeks so now wondering whether to push for scan before hand for peace of mind or wait until after our trip?

Any thoughts?

sophr2017 · 07/04/2017 08:18

Lydia I'd be surprised if they would do it that early, did you speak to your MW about going away?

We've got a holiday just before my 20 week scan, I've booked a private scan the day before we go just to put my mind at ease! So have that scan the day before we go then the NHS one the day after we get back, it's going to be an exciting/busy few weeks!

lydiangel83 · 07/04/2017 08:33

@sophr2017 no I forgot - was a bit emotional during booking in!

Where do you look for private scans I wouldn't know where to start?!

sophr2017 · 07/04/2017 09:06

Have a chat with them before you go, my MW just had a bit of advise about travelling, such as wearing flight socks and making sure you are up and walking around etc!

I had a company recommended so I used Baby Bond, they have a few around the UK. Otherwise I'm sure the ladies can recommend others but I would google them but check recommendations first!

tmc14 · 07/04/2017 09:10

Lydia - I too will be Japan over 10-12 weeks! Leave 23 April. Midwife is booking scan for after as she said better to wait until 13 weeks than do it at 10. But we've booked private early scan for just before so we can tell family before we go.

tmc14 · 07/04/2017 09:12

In terms of finding a private clinic, I just googled & then looked at reviews. They all seemed to be roughly the same price. I'm in London so I guess being in a city means more choice than some other areas.

Sakura03 · 07/04/2017 09:29

Lydia and tmc I'm envious, Japan is amazing, I went there in 2010 and would love to go backSmile
I've been having headaches the last couple of days but my nausea has eased a little, and boobs no longer on fire. Anybody else with headaches? Oh and I'm still constantly thirsty... 8 weeks 4 days

lydiangel83 · 07/04/2017 09:47

Ah that's so cool @tmc14! Where are you going? We have hardly booked anything and it is a busy bank holiday period over there in early May so things are getting booked up!

@Sakura03 Any tips welcome! So far flying in and out of Tokyo and then flights to Ishigaki (south west islands) booked but nothing else!

Good advice re flights I will try and contact midwife. Thanks for scan info too!

I'm also working in London so could go near work I suppose!

lydiangel83 · 07/04/2017 09:48

@Sakura03 yes also drinking a lot :-)

sophr2017 · 07/04/2017 10:05

Sakura I've been getting such bad headaches but only over the past 3-4 days, have had to take paracetamol a few times which I really didn't want to do and it doesn't really touch the sides anyway! Trying to drink some but doesn't seem to stop them Confused

ew1990 · 07/04/2017 12:46

How's everyone feeling today? Nausea has just well and truly hit me and my friends picking me up in a minute and I know being in a car is gunna make it worse, and what happened to pregnancy glow? I'm pale with loads of spots?? 😂😂

THirdEeye · 07/04/2017 16:28

Oo Japan sounds great!

I'm ok. I had my first midwife appointment, who reassured me in regards to my on/off symptoms. Seems that I won't have to wait much longer for the downs etc test a this is done at the 12 week scan.

My wind 💨 is on another level and I'm digestive system is so sluggish. I also have had headaches on/off as well sukura and I'm peeing for England waking up 2/3 times per night.

MrsB12345 · 07/04/2017 17:02

Surprisingly I don't have headaches and I normally get loads - been diagnosed with stress and tension headaches in the past. I now regularly wee at least once if not twice a night which is inconvenient. Hubby said it's by body's way of preparing me for being woken at night when we have a baby Confused I've also been getting stretching dull achy pains in my lower tummy area presumably uterus pains. Am still constantly tired but morning sickness / queasiness is now fading thankfully x

MrsB12345 · 07/04/2017 17:06

How cute is this. I got one for my niece as we are telling the wider family in a couple of weeks so got this for her to put on and then run in and show everyone. It was on eBay if anyone is interested Grin
