Hello!
Any one else received their first BFP this month!? I am 4+5. Due November 10 and would love to talk to some other first time mummies as every twinge and niggle sends me into panic at the moment!! I'm sure I'm not the only one...

@MrsC1982 it takes around an hour and you have a lot of questions to answer about your history and family history. The midwife explains your apps for between now and baby and mine took bloods to check for a few things like HIV, Hepatitis etc. I'm overweight so she explained I get to have more scans (which I'm pleased about) and diabetes test later on. You get loads of info to take away too x

MrsB12345 · 03/04/2017 17:42

@ew1990 how did you get on?x

MrsC1982 · 03/04/2017 18:48

Thanks @MrsB12345 !

I'm kind of on the chunky side so maybe I'll get more scans too! I don't think I'll get bored of them! I'll be 7 + 3 when I see her so hoping a scan will follow shortly after!

Is anyone else suffering utterly shite sleeping patterns? I seem to be waking up anytime between 3 & 4:30am and then I'm wide awake and can't go back to sleep! It's starting become rather irritating now (although I am rewatching 17 series of TOWIE to pass the time haha)

THirdEeye · 03/04/2017 19:06

mrsB my scan is this week, so ditto.

My sleep is being effected too. I wake every few hours between 1-5am to use the toilet. I'm managing to go back to sleep, but I'm exhausted. I've had to have hour long naps this weekend, as I couldn't cope with the exhaustion.

How are everyone's symptoms....? I just feel bleurgh and have indigestion.

misty sending Flowers I hope you feel better soon and I'll look out for you on this board xx

Squigglefish · 03/04/2017 19:25

Symptoms wise I am EXHAUSTED and so bloated. Still only really eating cards, hoping to get back to being healthy after this first trimester.

MrsB12345 · 03/04/2017 19:25

@THirdEeye I thought too feel bleugh and also have fatigue. I was waking every morning at 4.30 to have a wee but seem to be sleeping through now. I am starting to have a more conscious feeling something is down there as getting stretchy feelings and my clothes are def getting too tight. My tights are cutting me in half. Fairly convinced it's obvious at work now too but I'm not telling anyone until our scan at the end of April.

I'm still also convinced there is a boy in there and also keep getting a feeling it's twins....hubby can't even have a conversations about the twin subject as it sends him into panic mode 😂

ew1990 · 03/04/2017 19:33

It went well! Just loads of questions but the midwife was pregnant 2 like 2 weeks ahead of me which was lovely xx

ew1990 · 03/04/2017 19:40

Girlies I need your advice, I know you lot won't judge me xxx

sophr2017 · 03/04/2017 19:44

Glad it went well Ew! What's up?

My sleep is all over the shop as well! I want a nap as I'm so tired during the day but then can't get off to sleep at night and like others mentioned am constantly up to use the toilet!

It still doesn't seem real at all to me oddly and I'm 12+1 with my scan tomorrow, when do we think it'll kick in?!!

ew1990 · 03/04/2017 20:05

I just don't want no grief or judgment, I'm really struggling to stop smoking, I thought I would be able to if I caught pregnant but that isn't the case, I've cut down massively - was truefull with my midwife and told her I need help, she suggested an ecig and told me they are a 100x better than smoking, truthfully I would love to take nothing at all but just can't seem to, just looking for some advice xxx

MrsC1982 · 03/04/2017 20:22

No excessive peeing here yet... I'm well known for my camel type bladder though.

Apart from the weird waking times the only thing I've got is sore boobs...

I am awaiting the morning sickness seems to be quite the family trait on one side and nothing at all on the other though so I may get lucky.

@Ew day I found out I cut down from 15 to 5, then each day one more went and now it's one. I struggled with that final one so I went on the very low everything silk cut silver... I have managed so far since to swerve that 1 craving a day but I sympathise with you! You know full well you shouldn't do it but it's bloody hard!

Just keep cutting down until they are all gone.

ew1990 · 03/04/2017 20:24

That's good advice, its at work when I smoke more, At home not so much, I might just take 3 with work to me when they are gone that's it's, then 2, then 1 then hopefully none x

sophr2017 · 03/04/2017 20:25

Ew I am exactly the same don't worry, I didn't want to say anything either! I thought I'd want to give up straight away but am really struggling, I'm having 2 small rolled cigarettes a day and the midwife took my carbon monoxide levels and said I was registering as a non smoker so I'm trying not to hate myself too much, she's going to monitor every meeting. Hopefully we'll want to just stop soon, we have a midwife that specialises in quitting smoking, do you have one you could be referred to? X

mrsjkerry · 03/04/2017 20:25

@MistyBxx at least you are not in that awful limbo anymore and can focus on yourself and your husband and trying again when you're ready.

@ew1990 have you googled how to stop? There must be solutions and options out there available to you. If you don't think you can handle nothing at all you should deffo try the ecig. I suppose you could always lookup the harm that I could cause the baby, and try to scare yourself into stopping?

OP posts:
THirdEeye · 03/04/2017 20:39

No judgement here Ew

Why not try reducing them and in the meantime upping the ecigs/patches?

ew1990 · 03/04/2017 20:49

@sophr2017 she referred me today to that midwife, I was thinking the ecig but don't know if I can trust them, I've been on patches and gum for 2 week and they aren't doing anything for me! I know I could have an ecig and no cigarettes, it's the feeling of inhaling and blowing that I need if you know what I mean xx

tmc14 · 03/04/2017 20:56

No judgement, I don't smoke so don't really have any suggestions... sorry. Do you think if it's more difficult to quit at work, once everyone knows you'll find it easier to quit in order to avoid colleagues judgements? If that makes sense...

Peppercorn17 · 03/04/2017 20:57

Misty take care of yourself, hope you'll be back on these boards in no time Flowers

tmc14 · 03/04/2017 20:57

I've also had a couple of friends have good success quitting with hypnotism. Might be worth a try Hmm

Peppercorn17 · 03/04/2017 21:00

I'm also having a bleugh week- bloated, tired, constant nausea.

Have kept the constant nausea at bay the last week by eating regularly, but today for some reason just can't even touch it. Had a nap after work and felt a bit better, ate when I woke up but in no time the nausea returned. No actual sickness just the constant sensation! Anyone else in a similar boat and how are you keeping on top of it?

sophr2017 · 03/04/2017 21:08

Peppercorn I was the same and then it's just stopped past 2 weeks, mine was a lot to do with food, did the same as you just tried to eat really regularly and also highly recommend sea bands, they made it a lot more bearable!

ew1990 · 03/04/2017 21:18

@tmc14 I think when people know I will deffo stop couldn't handle the judgment, the midwife says coz I'm a smoker I will have to have extra scans and that scares me, I'm hoping to have quit when I have my 12 week scan xx

tmc14 · 03/04/2017 21:33

Ew - must be really tough. I've struggled with the no caffeine thing even, and I know I'm allowed a bit. Think the fear got me off everything bad!! If, as Sophie said, 1 or 2 cigarettes don't raise the levels then at least if you've cut down as much as possible then it limits any potential harm. Good luck!

ew1990 · 03/04/2017 21:44

Thank you! Ooh my midwife told me no McDonald's milkshakes or mcflurrys! Didn't know that! Xx

tmc14 · 03/04/2017 21:46

I panicked about mint tea the other day, but got told a couple a day is fine & there's not strong evidence it can cause mc.
