Oops - cross post purple (my fellow thread non-Facebooker Smile)

I have no idea what's usual at 37 weeks. Are the period type cramps par for the course? Did the hospital say anything about it when you were discussing the plan for the CS?

purpleviolet1 · 10/03/2017 13:47

They said if I went into labour naturally before the elcs then I should go in and they would do an emcs. They said it's not totally uncommon , it can happen.

When I phoned triage yesterday they said it sounds like it could be the start of labour, or it might not be. Labours do start like this but sometimes people have this for weeks on end. So I've to monitor it, and go in 'sooner rather than later' if it gets more painful, more regular. As I say at the moment it's very stop and start

XxBecxX · 10/03/2017 15:10

Lol new shoes I meant 5lb ish for this scan!
My inner feeling is he will be between 7.5-8.5 but maybe that's optimistic lol

Purple 2 weeks and the goal is now to within touching range!!
I know it's not the way you wanted it but having a plan goes some way to make up for these last few nightmare diabetic, finger stabbing pain In the arse weeks!
Keep your eye out for

  1. period pains
  2. involuntary tightening of your belly
  3. sickness and diarrhoea.
  4. bloody/ snotty discharge upon wiping or a blob in your draws 😷 Lol
  5. back ache
  6. extra hunger And the biggy one.... pain or discomfort up in your cervix, almost as if your bruised like someone has kicked u up there lol Some people have the same feeling just before and when they have their periods and it's your cervix opening.

Also each evening get yourself comfy in the doggy position, it won't hurt but it may just turn that little fatty chops around!
Soooo excited 😊

Evening all... hope you're all ok.

I'm having s bit of a dilemma. Dd1 went in the bathroom cupboard and found my pregnancy tests! She hasn't directly asked me but I could hear her whispering to dd2 that she thinks mummy has another baby in her tummy. Could hear dd2 saying the baby I lost had come back from the moon. This is what I told them the last time I mc'd. I didn't want them to know at all until the second trimester as I mc'd the last time at 10 weeks.
Do I wait for dd's to ask me? And what do I say if/when they do? I don't want them to be sad if things go wrong again.

Purple with regards to your pains. I started with pains similar to yours, like period pains and tightenings with dd1 a 7 days before my elective csection. I had a show too but didn't know what it was until I told my mum. The day before dd was born I had really bad back ache, no bowel movement or anything but felt really really sick. Started contracting that evening and went in to the mau and found I was 3cm dilated. Dd still hasn't turned so they took me for an emergency csection. The contractions weren't even strong and had only started half an hour before I went to the mau. Keep an eye on them and go straight in at the first sign of anything even if it seems small.

My symptoms seem to be getting stronger. Can't drink tea anymore, went off coffee before bfp. Started with the fussy eating and randomly feeling nauseated at the thought of anything remotely food related. There was another greasy tray that had had lamb on it from dinner yesterday in the kitchen this morning that dh had forgotten about. Trying to wash it was a horrible task which consisted of a lot of heaving, gagging and running away from it! It wasn't even that badly greasy 😂

Sorry for the ramble 😬

TheLegendOfBeans · 10/03/2017 20:08

Could hear dd2 saying the baby I lost had come back from the moon. This is what I told them the last time I mc'd.

My god, and I thought I was going to get through today without crying. What a beautiful way to explain something so sad to the wee ones xxxxx

purpleviolet1 · 10/03/2017 20:15

Will do xxbec xx

Amy thanks for sharing. So the pains I have just now lasted for about 7 days for you until the day you started contracting ? What was the difference between the pains and contraction? Will I just know?? For me at the moment I feel like I'm
Getting the 'ache' like my period is coming but then within the ache, the pain peaks and troughs. That's the only way I can describe it. So is that like a half contraction? It's not completely unbearable but did have me pacing about. As I say I've had the ache most of yesterday and some
Of today. Sorry for the ignorance!!

AmyB1986 · 10/03/2017 20:34

Legend sorry!!

Purple I can't really describe the pain. It felt different to when I lost my twins. It started low down with me the gradually moved around my back and went in waves up and down my stomach. Had me pacing too, my mum said to go straight in. So glad I did. They stuck me on a monitor to check if they were real ones or not. Brixton hicks aren't usually picked up on a monitor. They were 10 minutes apart so if only had about 5 contractions before I got to the hospital.

AmyB1986 · 10/03/2017 20:36

Forgot to add, yes 7 days before and the day I went into labour I had a show. Looked like snot mixed with blood and like plopped into the toilet (sorry tmi). I was so scared I flushed it away and didn't tell anyone until my mum came to my house after she finished work!

grainmum · 10/03/2017 20:36

purple so excited for you, will be thinking about you lots in the coming days. amy that's a tough dilemma you have. Maybe since you know they have worked it out it might be better to be straight with them? How old are they?

AmyB1986 · 10/03/2017 20:39

Grain they're 7 & 9. Dd1 keeps saying she has like an excited tummy ache but won't tell me why when I asked her. This is what's making it so difficult!

I think if they ask I'll just be honest. If they don't I'll tell them after my dating scan.

INeedNewShoes · 10/03/2017 22:54

Ha Bec - shows how much I know Blush I still have a lot to learn Grin

purpleviolet1 · 11/03/2017 00:23

Xxbec, the pain discomfort up the cervix.... could this be felt in the pubic bone region, like just between my legs..mostly when am manoeuvring in bed it feels bruised? Had it for a few days.. I'm so bad at all this being a newbie n all that!!

XxBecxX · 11/03/2017 01:56

It's like an achey feeling right up between your legs inside your Mary, bruisy, uncomfortable, definetly more painful if you move in a certain way. Sometimes I've also had it accompanied by sharp shooty stabbings pains where you go 'omg ahh' and have to jump yourself to one side, usually if your sat right on your cervix so to speak.
If you mean the bottom of your PB then yes!
Just please keep an eye on all these little things because mostly the cervical pain we are talking about is the beginnings of you dialating, with a first baby it can be slow (days/week) as it's softening and obviously getting ready to open, but on the other side of that as it's your first time you don't have an previous to go on, my mum laboured like lightening, as I was induced with my first 2 mine although not fast, where not slow either, then my sister had her first and laboured like lightening also, then with my 3rd (induced also) the MW who examined me before she gave me the induction pessary said to me that I was ready to have him by myself and if I wanted I could go home and it would only be a few days, I was 38wks and that was the first time I'd been told I was ready as the other 2 times I was classed as 'unfavourable'. With him I had niggles and cervical pain like I described then at 5pm they broke my waters and he was born 15mins later!
So I know now that my body labours really quickly too (when it's ready too) xxxxx

Ooo I see! Thanks

GingerHanna · 11/03/2017 09:43

Hello ladies.

I got a BFP just about 20 minutes ago - am four weeks.

I had a chemical mc in December 2015 at six weeks so whilst I am on cloud nine right now I know very soon I'm going to need to find some anxiety management strategies.

DH is out at the moment and I don't want to call my best friend until he knows. He bought the tests so he suspects!

GingerHanna · 11/03/2017 09:43

PS I'm 36 and this will be my first child.

grainmum · 11/03/2017 11:32

Hi hanna lots of us here who have been in the same position. I think you just have to deal with one day at a time. A lot of us end up in denial to some extent, try to keep your mind occupied with other nice things. Oh and try to avoid analysing symptoms, they seem to vary hugely between women and between pregnancies for the same woman and mean very little one way or the other!

Cookiemonster19 · 11/03/2017 21:02

Welcome Hanna and congratulations on your BFP!
I lost my first pregnancy last April just after 6 weeks too and am now around 8-9 weeks pregnant with my first child. Yes I deffo agree with grain take everyday as it comes and just try to enjoy it. I was really stressed when I first found out as I was convinced that I would miscarry again but as each day passes I just think to myself that I am getting further and further along. Yep deffo try to avoid symptom spotting, I have had extreme symptoms for a few days at a time and then they disappear for about 2 days then re appear! Just adds unnecessary stress!

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 12/03/2017 07:43

Welcome hanna, hope you're still riding the happy vibes today.

It's a bit of a case of grin and bear it in those early weeks, and take each day as it comes.
The thread has a bit of a motto, which is "today I am pregnant".

That and mostly denial in the early weeks helped me

MrsK8541 · 12/03/2017 08:46

Hi hanna and congratulations on your bfp! I'm 13+2 and still panicking about miscarrying but do find the motto helpful. I have it written on a little card inside my purse as a reminder!

MrsK8541 · 12/03/2017 08:47

Oh and has anyone experienced short sharp pains above the pubic bone? I noticed it last night and I've had a few little niggles again this morning. Dr Google is telling me it's stretching and ligament pain but my head has gone into overdrive!

Alb1 · 12/03/2017 09:01

Welcome hanna I was in the same position as you a few years ago, joined when pregnant with my first child after my first miscarriage and this thread kept me sane and DS is 2 and half now. I'm back for this pregnancy (my 4th) for a different reason but being here still helps me so I hope it does for you too. I also found a website that tells you miscarriage risk by day, can be unhealthy for some but I found it quite useful counting down a little milestone a day at a time

mrsk yep I have quite a lot, still sometimes get it now! How far along are you now?

26 weeks today, went back to work yesterday on this medication for the baby's heart and really struggled so it's time to slow down I think (I'm no good at slowing, im stubborn)

MrsK8541 · 12/03/2017 09:15

Thanks alb, I must get used to the fact that things need to stretch and move. I'm only 13+2. If you need to slow down then do it, you and baby come first!!!
