Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

Glad all went well maple my scan Tuesday was good. Measuring 7+2 on the day (actually 7+4) they seemed happy with that and heartbeat 151BPM. It's so nerve wracking! I'm 100% booking a 10 week scan. I couldn't wait til 12. Why does your friend think it's a bad idea? I say do whatever makes you feel comfortable. This is a shitty enough journey so if you want go for it.

Have got really bad bruising from the Clexane this week. Meant to ring clinic earlier and time got away from me. Assuming they'll just tell me it can happen though while on it and aspirin.

star1980 · 01/07/2017 06:16

Maple, I haven't heard that scans are in any way harmful and you just have to do what's right for you. Personally, I am trying to just accept and believe this is happening, so unless there's a reason to worry (bleeding, pain etc) then I won't be having additional scans. There's no reason ours should be different to any other pregnancy and with positive scans at 6 and 8 weeks I'd say you're ok. But if it helps with your anxiety or you just want to see the bean again, then I can't see there's any harm in it.

Do you have your booking appointment date?

star1980 · 01/07/2017 06:20

Congrats on a great scan ash! I heard between 120 and 180 bpm is normal, so spot on. I was measuring 3 days behind at my 9w scan and they seemed absolutely comfortable with that. Sorry about the bruising, you're probably right about the aspirin.

loopylou1984 · 02/07/2017 20:04

Just jumping on to say Maple - I was scanned every 2 weeks. No reason not to have the private scan, xx

blackcherries · 02/07/2017 22:56

How is everyone? My nausea is definitely worse than with my first pregnancy. That time it petered off around 12 weeks and hoping this does too! It's making me quite miserable. Luckily I'm off work for a short while.
It's weird as family are asking about due dates etc and talking about the future whereas I'm still waiting for the 12-week scan before I can start planning. Still got several l-o-n-g weeks to go but KEEPING POSITIVE Halo

beanhunter · 03/07/2017 09:13

Yep. Feel like utter crap. 7 weeks today.

maplebaby · 03/07/2017 09:16

Glad all was well ash! Mine was 158bpm at 8 weeks so that sounds great to me! I'm not sure why she doesn't think it's a good idea but she got pregnant in the first month of trying and due this week so I think it's easy for her to say...
I'm not on clexane but am on fragmin and they are bruising me too Sad

Star I only went to the doctor on Friday (turns out reception were wrong and I could have self referred) and I just chased the hospital this morning. She said they are v busy and know I'm over 8 weeks but depends on what is available... so not got an appointment yet. Hope I get one soon!

I've been agonising over getting a scan. I switch from desperately wanting to see it and check it's still ok to thinking having one isn't going to change anything if anything was to happen... also I would have it the day before a friends wedding and wouldn't want to miss it if it's bad news... sigh I will think about it a bit more.

Worried as my nausea seems to have diminished over the last couple of days so driving myself a bit insane Sad

Custardandcream · 03/07/2017 14:11

trixie the cooler weather has been so much nicer, not liking that it looks like it's going to heat up this week! I'm 35 + 5 so about 4 weeks left, starting to feel heavily pregnant now. I've started the bags (one for before birth, one for after and one for DH) and I've got a rough version of a birth plan hoping to discuss it tomorrow when I see the midwife. Hope your appointments go ok this week.

Star I think everyone gets offered downs screening now.

Maple great news about your scan, I ended up having quite a few scans early on and I couldn't find any information saying they were harmful. I did find the scans reassuring at the time but after about an hour I was back to being worried about what was happening again so the reassurance was short lived. My nausea came and went so try not to worry too much about that.

Ash great news about the scan, sorry to hear about the bruising.

blackcherries glad to hear you're staying positive

maplebaby · 03/07/2017 14:27

Custard that's exactly how I feel - reassured for the day and back to being anxious again! I think I will have one but wait until after the wedding I'm going to so I'll be 10+4...

Ash75454 · 03/07/2017 20:07

Thanks for all the lovely reassuring words folks.

custard you must be on serious countdown now and sound very organised!

star and maple I've finally booked a doc appointment for tomorrow. Still all seems a bit surreal! Hoping I won't have to wait too long over 12 weeks for first maternity appointment. Sorry you're suffering from the rubbish bruising too maple it makes me nervous doing them now. Also my sickness varies a lot, some days I have none.

blackcherries we still haven't told family think they would drive me mad! We have a family gathering when I'm 13 weeks so hoping I've had my '12' week scan and all well we'll tell them then.

Ash75454 · 05/07/2017 22:06

A bit of a follow on from the prenatal screening question. I found out yesterday that unbelievably here in Ireland no one gets one you have to opt in and pay privately. There seems to be so many different types too which is not helpful. Is all screening in uk done as DNA blood testing now?

star1980 · 06/07/2017 11:21

Hi ash, that's interesting and annoying. What I'm getting is a blood test which they took last week at my booking appointment, and then at my scan on 18th they measure the amount of fluid at the neck. These two will combine to give a probability of the three syndromes (can't remember the names). If the probability is highish then you are offered the definitive test which is a diagnosis but carries a miscarriage risk.

Does that sound like DNA testing? I'm not sure. On my Jan ante-natal board quite a few people have got the Harmony test at 10 weeks which is around £400 or 500.

How is everyone doing? Had a dream last night that I had a miscarriage. Argh! But generally feeling ok and started cycling again this week. I'm 12 weeks tomorrow and because my fibroids are growing I'm really starting to show. A male colleague at work yesterday almost asked me outright if I was pregnant- he kept looking at my belly and asking if I had any news! I just commented on work and clearly didn't want to talk about it and he kept going on and looking me up and down, until I eventually walked off. It was horrible. I'm not ready to tell people until after the scan but it's getting difficult to hide.
Sorry, that was a bit of a rant!

blackcherries · 06/07/2017 16:44

That's terrible Star! I'm on holiday and actually in a maternity dress for comfort but going to try and hide it better when I get back.
Can the Harmony test be taken later than 10 weeks? Not sure it was a thing in my last pregnancy.

Ash75454 · 06/07/2017 20:09

star people are so rude. People should have the courtesy to keep their mouth shut until you decide to make it public!
I'm 9 weeks tomorrow so no baby bump yet but totally bloated yesterday surprised my sister didn't ask how I'd put on a belly overnight! Still keeping this info to just me and hubby and 2 close friends. My family are lovely but would drive me mad with overexcitement while I'm still getting used to this.

I rang a clinic today to talk about test options and they suggested a test similar to harmony called panorama. Apparently just a different brand really, though if you have twins or donor egg IVF you have to go harmony. Booked in for 18th and they are running a study at the minute if you sign up after they give you the information they take €100 off the price. Will test for common genetic abnormalities and tell us baby's sex. blackcherries the panorama can be done from 9 weeks I do it at 10.5 so assuming same from harmony 10 weeks is earliest but can do it later too.

moggle · 06/07/2017 20:21

Hi all, exciting to hear about new babies and people getting very close to meeting theirs! Glad everyone from the recent influx still seems to be here.
we had our 9 week scan last week and two babies still there and looking good. Signed off from clinic and got 12 week scan on the 20th when we'll have the standard trisomy screening. Our hospital offers one of the new DNA tests for free if you have a high risk from the screening. I'm 36 but wonder if they'll account for the fact I was only 32 when the embryos were made!!
I'm just soooo tired and still feeling mildly nauseous at best all day, and finding it hard to sleep at the mo. DD is being full on and we are potty training, DH is having an awful time at work and staying very late so everything is a bit tough at the moment.
blackcherries hope you're having a nice holiday, anywhere nice? We're going to have a mon-fri break without DD in September hopefully but can't decide where.

blackcherries · 06/07/2017 20:43

In Cornwall, only for a few nights but deff needed the break!
Kept reading 'panorama' test as 'paranoia' Blush
Still feel really in limbo until the next scan. Clinic haven't offered any more though, not even private, and doubt they'd be able to book anything now anyway.

RoseBud2016 · 07/07/2017 16:21

Just to let you all know baby Rosebud arrived on 4th July at 40+4 weighing 9lb 5oz. She is absolutely gorgeous and we are totally smitten.

We cannot believe she is finally here and we have our miracle baby.

Never Give Up

Ash75454 · 07/07/2017 19:20

Congrats rosebud 😃

moggle glad scan went well and your two little ones are doing good. sorry to hear your having a bit of a rough time all round though. Your hubbies work likely to ease up soon?

Enjoy the break blackcherries and relax.

Custardandcream · 08/07/2017 11:07

Ash I hope I'm mostly sorted now, feels very odd to have all the stuff. Glad you managed to sort the testing.

Star glad you're feeling ok, people are so rude no idea why anyone thinks they should be told before you're ready to announce it.

moggle good news about your scan, sorry to hear you're having a bit of a tough time.

Blackcherries enjoy your break.

RoseBud congratulations! Hope labour was ok

AFM had my midwife appointment on Tues and the head is engaged. Trying to meet up with friends over the next week or so before things become more complicated!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend

cherryontopp · 08/07/2017 11:56

Hi I'm 8 weeks 4 days with my IVF baby after nearly 3 years of TTC. I had my viability scan last week and everything looked.

Since then I've recently been exposed to Parvo Virus by my friends 2 year old who has slapped cheek so i need to get blood tests to confirm this. If I have caught it, it could cause miscarriage amongst other things. I'm in limbo yet again just waiting the news Sad

beanhunter · 10/07/2017 12:00

Hi ladies. Has anyone had any of the NIPT tests done? Wondering about the panorama test.

Ash75454 · 10/07/2017 18:57

bean I'm booked in for panorama next Tuesday the 18th. When I rang to discuss/book she said that it pretty much does same thing as Harmony (unless it's multiples or donor egg then you do need harmony) and most popular in their clinic at the minute. Otherwise don't know much other than what was on their website.

Custardandcream · 10/07/2017 21:56

cherry that must be very scary for you, hope you get your test results quickly

moggle · 11/07/2017 15:18

congratulations Rosebud! Hope the early days are going well.
cherry really hope the results come through fast. Holding your hand. I always think we should get a free pass for a stress free pregnancy after what we have to go through to get pregnant in the first place xxx
Custard glad baby is in the right position!!

DH work is likely to be stressful for a while unfortunately but he's adjusting to it now and at least I think the late nights working are probably tailing off as the immediate issues have been dealt with. I feel bad but I have so little patience for him at the moment, when he comes home huffing and puffing about it I just want to tell him to shut up! (I don't though... ).
I'm going to have to leave work early today to go to H&M and buy some maternity jeans. I am so uncomfy in my final remaining pair of non-elasticated trousers that fit. Can't wait til next week and my 12 week scan so I can tell everyone at work and wear all my mat stuff openly!
My sickness has got better since I stopped taking my pregnacare tablets! (obviously am still taking folic acid, vit D and also spatone as well). Might be coincidence though. Never bothered me last time.

Ash75454 · 11/07/2017 20:00

moggle glad its a little more manageable if not less stressful at DH's job. I hear you on the patience front I struggle holding off telling him to shut up when he's just catching me up on his days dramas. Glad the sickness is a bit better too regardless of why it's happened.

cherry any update? Hope you are feeling ok
