Pregnancy After Infertility IV

Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

maple sorry you had a scare :-( but nice to see the little bean!
beanhunter glad you have got GP appt. And glad you are feeling rough (you know what I mean!!)

I was going to wait until after the 9 week scan to self refer to the midwife but think I might do it next week, the earlier the 12 week scan the better.

I hate the suppositories! Was so glad to give them up at 12 weeks with DD. I have to keep going until 28 weeks with twins!! urgh.

Ash75454 · 16/06/2017 13:59

OMG moggle never thought about having to stay on drugs longer with the two. Just the progesterone?

blackcherries · 16/06/2017 14:56

Hi IVF buddies... thought I'd tentatively dip into this thread. I got my bfp on 29 May following 2nd round of IVF. Had lots of lovely (!) symptoms and at 5 weeks I had 4 days of quite bad nausea etc, worse than I remembered with DC1 (but not actually puking, and just about able to go to work). Since then it's eased off a bit so I've had 3 days of milder nausea. This is making me worry a bit... anyone know if there'd be a reason for it? Maplebaby seems like you might have had something similar?

Scan isn't til Monday and I can't help feeling quite pessimistic that there won't be anything there.

Not even thinking about booking in with midwives centre until after the scan. Doesn't really feel real. I've been googling around on MMCs (and the book I've been reading, His and Hers Guide to IVF, describes one) which I was quite scared of having but at least googling tells me the odds are tiny.

maplebaby · 16/06/2017 16:49

Thanks all. Feel better now but I'm sure the anxiety will creep in again soon before the 8 week scan!

Star I've just called the GP and they've booked an appointment with the GP the morning of the scan! Now scared I've jinxed it all, even though I know jinxes don't exist... glad you have your appointment through, hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the scan!

Bean great to hear the spotting has gone! Oh and a move as well goodness hope you get your scan before!

Moggle I think I'll be scared to stop all the drugs - feels like a safety net. I think they wean you off though don't they, I think that's what my nurse said.

Hey blackcherries! Yes my boobs aren't sore, bloating and tightness in tummy has gone. I feel pretty normal except I think I get hungry and tired quicker. I asked the doctor at EPU if it was normal for symptoms to come and go and she said it was. I know it's easier said than done and it's pot kettle black but google is not your friend! How many weeks will you be on Monday?

blackcherries · 16/06/2017 18:37

Think I'll be seven weeks... Thanks for the reassurance, I'll take anything! Last time round I was feeling a bit grim from about 6 to 11/12 weeks, but don't remember it being that up and down. Can't rest so much this time round with a toddler to deal with!

Blueroses99 · 17/06/2017 18:51

Just wanted to say a big welcome to all the newbies. I'm so pleased to recognise so many of you from the infertility threads.

I'm not on here so much as I'm looking after my preemie daughter. I've lost track of who is due next? Good luck to my fellow Jul/Aug buds over the next few weeks Custard, Sara, Hedgehog, Trixie (sorry if I've missed anyone) and I hope you're managing ok with being heavily pregnant in this heat!

There's a Babies After Infertility thread on the other side!

bean glad to hear the spotting has stopped

blackcherries welcome and good luck for Monday

Blueroses I've just caught up with your blog, your little girl is beautiful and seems to be doing so well. My house takes forever to warm up and has been relatively cool today so I refused to go outside, my feet ballooned in the last bit of heat we had!

I have my 34 week growth scan on Monday, slightly anxious about it scanxiety never really goes away!

JustTrixie · 18/06/2017 11:24

Hi everyone, hope those who are nearly ready to pop are coping ok. Brilliant to see so many new BFPs, especially Maple and Bean. I had some spotting early on too and have then had dark discharge on/off throughout which Dr has assured me is perfectly normal. Doesn't stop it being worrying though.

32 weeks today and this is my last week at work. It seemed like a good idea to go off early but now it's come around I'm feeling fine apart from the tiredness (lots of night time loo trips and restless legs) and feel like I should work a few more weeks. I'm too fed up with work and lazy to actuallychange my dates though.

Lucie if you're still readinghopeall is well!

Blueroses, lovely to hear from you.I've been following your blog, the photos areamazing and it is great to read that Aviana is doingso well.

Good luck fortomorrow Custard!

star1980 · 18/06/2017 16:58

Welcome blackcherries and congratulations!! From everything I've read around these boards and the internet generally, symptoms come and go for people all the time, so don't read anything into it. I'm also nervous about mmc, mostly because I've read so much about them and I haven't had an early scan (I'm 9w) - so with no bleeding, spotting or cramping, the main thing I can worry about is mmc! I guess this is just the reality of pregnancy after infertility Hmm

Oh wow, trixie! 32 weeks, congratulations! omg, I'm literally DREAMING of when I can go off on maternity leave! Have been for 3 years to be honest. Enjoy the time off - I think it could be nice to have a bit more time before the baby comes and get things sorted and relax a bit beforehand. And if you're fed up with work, even better to go off early.

Good luck with your scan tomorrow custard. And blackcherries too. Smile

JustTrixie · 18/06/2017 17:50

I know Star it feels surreal! Have a long list of things I want to get done and friends coming to stay so will fill the time. Still terrified that something will go wrong though. There is always something to worry about...not too much longer until your 12 week scan. Are you still at Kings? have been really impressed with them so far.

Good luck tomorrow Blackcherries

star1980 · 18/06/2017 22:32

Hey trixie, no not at King's anymore. I moved to east London a year ago, but stayed with King's whilst having fertility treatment. Once I got my bfp I registered with a GP up here and have just referred to Homerton maternity. Really hope the Drs here are as nice as at King's!
I'm so pleased to see you so far along. Really enjoy your mat leave Smile

beanhunter · 20/06/2017 08:39

Having a panic this morning. Feel less sick than yesterday and really crappy like period pains. Knicker check has intensified. Didn't think I'd be wishing to be vomiting. Yesterday I was pleased as I wasn't this sick when I mc but was with my girl. Now I'm stressed again and there's no point in a scan until next week.

maplebaby · 20/06/2017 09:25

Custard hope the growth scan went well yesterday!

Trixie thanks for the reassurance regarding the spotting! I still have brown spotting but it's usually worst in the morning when I get in to work from my commute. It then tends to be less as the day goes on. I've called the clinic as I'm on Fragmin and aspirin and as they are blood thinners I'm wondering if I should be on them still?! Enjoy your mat leave! Only a few days to go!

Bean when I went into EPU they said it was normal for symptoms to come and go. I freaked out a bit the other day as I had some pains/cramps in the night - one felt like it was in my cervix and then I had brown watery discharge in the morning. How many weeks are you? I was exactly 6 when I went to EPU last week?

beanhunter · 20/06/2017 09:45

Only 5 I think. Gp said we can see about an epau scan next week.

star1980 · 20/06/2017 10:24

So sorry you're worrying Bean. So many ladies have minimal symptoms, please try and hold onto that.

And sorry, I'm not writing this to worry you, but just came on to update... things not looking good for me. Had bright red blood last night. Has slowed overnight and now just pinkish coloured spotting/discharge. Spoke to out of hours GP last night who said basically wait and try and get an EPU referral today, but to go to A&E if gets heavy or crampy. So terrified, not holding out much hope - think this is the start of a miscarriage. I'm 9+4. Private scan at 12. Sad

beanhunter · 20/06/2017 10:32

Oh star. I'm so sorry. Hope you can get seen at epau x

moggle · 20/06/2017 10:33

oh god star, holding your hand. Praying that it is OK xxxxxxxxx

maplebaby · 20/06/2017 10:38

Bean fingers crossed for next week and that they can scan, I know how time goes so slowly, hang in there.

Star so sorry to hear about the bleeding. Was it heavy or accompanied with cramping? I have my fingers tightly crossed for you and it may be a bleed like the one I had and not effecting the baby hopefully. Thinking of you and hope the scan is ok at 12.

Custardandcream · 20/06/2017 11:40

Star so sorry to hear about the bleeding, I have everything crossed for you

star1980 · 20/06/2017 13:28

Oh thank you ladies.

Just back from private scan. Massive sigh of relief! Baby fine, right place, heartbeat nice and strong, measuring 9w. Couldn't see an obvious reason for the bleed, but there's a small bruise next to the sac. On th report it says sch, which obviously i'll have to look up and obsess over. Also lots of fibroids and the largest has grown to over 9cm and he thinks that may have caused the bleed but it's on the opposite side to the sac so shouldn't affect then pregnancy. Just out for lunch with my oh now and so relieved - didn't think my afternoon would pan out like this!

Thanks for the support, really appreciate it Smile

maplebaby · 20/06/2017 13:56

Oh star I'm so relieved and thrilled for you! I think sch means subchorionic hematoma (spell)? I'm not sure if this is what I had too, was just told it was a bleed next to placenta! Glad the fibroids shouldn't affect anything but I'm sure they will keep an eye on it and you can see if it's grown at the 12 week scan! Phew!

beanhunter · 20/06/2017 14:15

Amazing news star x

moggle · 20/06/2017 14:21

Phew!!! Oh that's great news star. So relieved for you. You must be so exhausted after all that stress and worry. Hope you're able to have a more relaxing afternoon.

blackcherries · 20/06/2017 21:15

phew star glad all is ok. and good luck bean.

Pleased to say I had my scan yesterday (7 weeks) and all was fine so I'm much more relieved now, still feeling horrendous but know it's all for good reason. Can't wait til next scan now but have actually accepted this is happening!

Ash75454 · 20/06/2017 22:28

star a stressful day it seems. Glad all was ok.
blackcherries great news. Sorry you feel horrendous though.
I'm on the week count down to mine. Waiting is so tough!
