Pregnancy After Infertility IV

Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

Congratulations star - such a nerve wracking time but everything crossed for u. I only experienced sore boobs and cramping whereas I know others experience a whole range of symptoms so v hard to compare. Fingers crossed though xx

icy I'm 34 weeks and feel your angst. Was feeling relatively zen but that's rapidly disappearing. Might be too woo but I did have a reflexology session the other day as a present from a friend and managed to sleep so much better and just felt generally less like my mind had too many browser tabs open afterwards. It's only lasted a few days though!

lucie lots of luck - hope you're enjoying mat leave

sammy really hope the twins are OK and kiwi if you're still checking in, let us know how motherhood is going!?

rosebud know you're the same stage as me - how are you feeling? Do you finish work soon?

Waves to everyone else xx

Can I tentatively join too?

I'm very early stages of pregnancy too, only 3 weeks past ovulation... Still can't believe it. Conceived after 19 months ttc, second round of fertility drugs. I recognise some of the names from lurking on infertility threads so it's really encouraging to see so many women do get their bfps in the end. I just hope and pray for the ladies still going through it.

It is a difficult journey, for me this is my second pregnancy, first conception so easy, I was so blasé about everything. Now I don't feel I can get excited, I was bleeding so was put on cyclogest and I've been having period type cramps every day I'm always checking for bleeding. Anyway, not saying anything you don't know but I can't take it for granted this time.

Look forward to getting to know you over the coming months x

Four paws - thanks for asking. She's ok, she's just got a cold. Thing is if I lay her down she coughs and splutters and can't breathe so she slept on my chest and I had to stay awake. Exhausted today as think I might have had a total of 2.5 hours sleep in 15/20 minute chunks!

All completely worth it when I'm getting double smiles and cuddles though.

For what it's worth I didn't believe I'd get the girls at the end of my pregnancy. The whole way through I was expecting something to go wrong. Just remember, however positive or negative you are about your pregnancy will have no effect on the outcome. Your thoughts do not control this. Xx

Welcome clueless and congratulations on your BFP! I know the bleeding can be scary but it's actually very common - take it easy, no sex unfortunately, and try to stay positive (easier said than done!).

cluelessnewmum · 22/05/2017 19:07

Thanks hedgehog, I don't know if I am spotting still as I'm on cyclogest but I'm not quite as paranoid about the cramps as I was with every day that passes. The nausea is starting as well which last time I was told was a 'good sign'.

Can't seem to get a gp appointment though for it, every time I ring they tell me to ring on a different day!

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 22/05/2017 20:04

clueless unless the nausea is really bad there's little point in a GP appointment, they won't be able to do anything for you. Similarly the cramps, again, they can't do anything I'm afraid (other than the progesterone pessaries) - it's a waiting game at this stage.

cluelessnewmum · 23/05/2017 17:09

Thanks hedgehog I was more thinking about the gp appointment just to kick off the referral to the hospital and just to tell them you're pregnant etc. I wish there was something more they could do about the sickness though.

It's getting bad like last time I was pregnant but this time I'm trying not to complain as it's been so much more difficult to get here.

Will just have to keep trying, I keep missing the boat by the time I get through.

loopylou1984 · 24/05/2017 03:40

Clueless - don't suffer the sickness if it's really that bad. I felt (like you) that I shouldn't complain, and by the time dh forced me to the doctors I was almost at the point of being hospitalised. There are drugs out there, don't be afraid to ask for them.
And congratulations! X

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/05/2017 08:37

@mad and @hope so sorry for your losses

Congrats to all newbies. I'm an oldie saying hello

Dd is now 8wks and I'm over the moon to be a mummy after ttc 10yrs and 4 previous failed ivf the 5th worked 💓👶🏼💓

@icy. Very normal. Just how we felt. Esp when madam decided to give us several non movement scares and so worried til plugged in machine at triage and then she kicked

Think as has taken many of us so long to either conceive or to have a successful preg then we will worry till our babies are born

But all the heartache and worry is sooooooo worth it when your child looks at your with so trust and love in their eyes and smile at you

I keep walking past the Moses basket and look at dd and think img she's mine. I made her

Much love to you all xx

Custardandcream · 24/05/2017 12:09

Clueless welcome and congratulations, hope the spotting calms down. If you're still having issues with getting an appointment would it be worth asking to see a nurse instead? A nurse did my referral to the midwife.

Blondes your DD is adorable and your post brought a tear to my eye

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 24/05/2017 13:45

Oh blondes she's gorgeous! You lucky, lucky person! I'm so thrilled for you. Flowers

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 24/05/2017 13:46

clueless if your sickness is really bad don't hesitate to insist on medication - the earlier you start taking it the better the effect. They generally won't prescribe it for mild -moderate sickness, but if you're really poorly you need to get help.

Sara237 · 25/05/2017 06:39

Clueless- I was sick till about 4.5 months. The only thing that helped and which I realised by month 4, was to eat a lot not allow myself to feel even an inkling of hunger! Hang on in there. I ate dry bagels, cereal, cheese and onion pasties, pasta with cheese and drank lots if lemon squash. Sorry if this makes you feel more sick x

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/05/2017 22:41

THank you @custard and @hedgehog 👶🏼💓👶🏼

lucieloos · 26/05/2017 22:40

Just a quick post to let you know we had a little girl in the early hours of this morning. Labour was intense but she is amazing. Loving every second and never thought this day would come!

MPP81 · 26/05/2017 23:35

Massive congratulations Lucie. You must be thrilled. Enjoy every second of her. You deserve to xx

Star Huge congrats to you too! Its so fab to see you on this thread, and so amazing that you had the fabled suprise natural bfp!!

Sammy Lovely to see everything is going well for you!

Gorgeous pic of little one, Blondes!

Hope everyone is doing well. I try to check in when I can to see how you're all doing.

Not long now Chocolate!!

Icy I think the fear is understandable, and I'd echo the others to say that I was never sure I'd get to bring DS home until I actually did. Thinking of you.

Trixie Hedgehog Custard Hope you're doing well!

Waves to anyone I missed!

loopylou1984 · 27/05/2017 04:00

Huge congratulations Lucie- so so happy for you! What gestation were you? How was the birth? I hope you are all doing well x

Chocolate apart from really swollen feet and ankles, I'm feeling great! 35 weeks yesterday and my last day at work too! I'm on half term this week then my mat leave starts on 5th June! It was really emotional saying goodbye to all my work friends and students- I cried a lot! Blush
How about you? How are you feeling?

Welcome and congratulations Clueless Although the nausea can be awful to cope with (and you should get something from the doc if you aren't managing to keep anything down) I also think it's a very positive sign about the pregnancy. Smile

Sara237 · 27/05/2017 22:03

Congratulations Lucy brilliant news!

Sara237 · 27/05/2017 22:04
