Pregnancy after infertility or fertility treatment can be a scary place, from scanxiety to unexplained bleeding to other random symptoms.

We are a supportive group of women across all stages of pregnancy who are used to being on the wrong side of the odds and still can't believe it's really happening.

Massive bold fail there.....why did that not show in proof?? Blush

Custardandcream · 06/05/2017 11:21

Paws & Long congratulations! Amazing to hear you've both had natural BFPs. Long do you have a scan booked?

Trixie is your arm feeling better? Mine was still sore on Thursday but ok yesterday. How did you get Brew & Cake at John Lewis?! We went for one a few weeks ago and no one mentioned Cake!

Rose glad to hear time has sped up for you, not long to go at work hopefully you can get some time to relax before baby arrives.

AFM I was out all day yesterday, felt ok while out but feeling it today! I have a 28 week growth scan on Monday which I'm a bit anxious about (not sure why but my NHS trust does growth scans at 28 & 34 weeks for IVF pregnancies, a midwife a few weeks ago told me everything looks fine and they are just being over cautious)

lucieloos · 06/05/2017 11:44

Congrats four and long that's amazing news. Hope you both have uneventful pregnancies!

Rose, wow not too much longer left in work for you now. I am loving maternity leave. Just been sorting the house out and doing things i don't normally get time to. Dh and I went away for the night last weekend which was lovely. I have afternoon tea with my mum and some family members tomorrow then next week I have a massage booked which my colleagues got me as a leaving gift, then midwife Tuesday and meeting nct girls Wednesday. It's great!

Trixie, we didn't get Cake or Brew at our John Lewis appt either!

Custard, my NHS trust were going to give me the extra growth scans too just because I had ivf. They said there was no medical reason for me to have them but quite often ivf ladies are more anxious about their pregnancies and so it's nice to have it. I declined as it would have meant I would have been consultant led and I really want to stay midwife led and to be honest the scans stress me out and I get anxious before going so unless there was a particular problem I wanted to carry on as a normal low risk patient. They were completely fine about it so I've just been having monitoring and measuring with midwife.

Pebbles086 · 06/05/2017 21:17

Lots going on as per.
trixie, custard hope the arm ache has gone. Is this vaccine standard? Will I get it? I am 32 wks now.
custard the scan will be absolutely fine. It's nice that you're getting some extra care for a change and nice for you to see Baba again.
Rose we are very close in dates indeed! You'll be glad to know I've gone from only having a small bag of baby stuff to now having the room done and the buying is well under way.
We've been very busy converting the spare room into a nursery, still seems very very surreal.
trixie, loo did you opt for any John Lewis items. I could spend a fortune in that shop.
loo sounds like you're having a great time being off. Enjoy your time before the big day Eekk!
How you doing long? Hope you're OK.
blue if you're still popping in on us. I love your blog, its really beautiful the way you're sharing Aviana's journey with us. She's adorable and doing so well.
four congratulations! How lovely to see you got a natural BFP. I can only imagine how you'll stay calm till 18th May!! Lots of nice meals out with DH or trips to the cinema might help Smile

loopylou1984 · 06/05/2017 21:42

Four paws!!! Congratulations! I really hope everyone makes it over here sooner or later (preferably sooner obvs!) xx

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 07/05/2017 07:26

Hi everyone, four massive congratulations. So pleased for you and hope the wait to next scan is quick!!

rose and pebbles I'm the same stage as you both I think (32 plus). Really can't decide when to start mat leave now. Was meant to be 37 weeks but because we're away in early June, I could take 4 days AL and finish at 35 plus 5. Really not sure!!! What are you both doing??

lucie glad you're enjoying it. Very jealous! Are u feeling ok generally now? Excited I'd imagine

sammy so glad to hear your girls are doing ok. So amazing after everything you've been through. Just be amazing to have them home (although v hard work I'd imagine!!). Hope there is enough support for you.

Hey to everyone else!!

Afm, doing ok - pelvis is playing up but I'm still managing to keep active and go to the gym and swim. We've just come back from a lovely break away which was so nice!!

lucieloos · 07/05/2017 07:48

Choc, I finished work at 37 weeks although by then I was wishing that I had finished a week or two earlier. I was quite tired and it was a lot of effort to be in work all day. I feel ok now although uncomfortable at times and really big but nothing too much to complain about really.

Chocolateandwineplease27 · 07/05/2017 09:20

Thanks Lucie - I just know I won't want to go in for those four days but then finishing at 35. 5 seems early! I definitely feel more uncomfortable already. Glad you're OK overall though and sounds like you're making the most of your time! So exciting xx

Madgwick · 07/05/2017 09:49

Hi Everyone, I've been trying to keep up with you all but haven't posted for a while. I think it might be all over for me. Had bright red bleeding last night (11 wks +3) and was told to go to A&E. Was an awful mistake and shouldn't have gone, waited hours just for blood test and no scan available until Monday. Bleeding seemed to have stopped again this morning. Hospital have rung back with HCG level this morning and said it's only 1420. So confused as after ICSI had 7 wk and 9 wk scan both with heartbeat and no issues apart from the sac being a bit small at the 9 wk scan. Trying to be positive but very tough. Hope the rest of you are faring better xx

Custardandcream · 07/05/2017 10:53

lucie when they offered the extra scans I thought I would find them reassuring, although I'm technically consultant led it's made no difference to my treatment other than going for the scans I still see the community midwives.

Pebbles the vaccine was recommended by my midwife at my 12 week appointment but you can't have it until 20 weeks and it wasn't mentioned again until I brought it up at my 24 week check. I then had to arrange it with my GP practice.

Madgwick So sorry to hear about the bleed, I had bright red bleeding at 8 weeks so know how terrifying it is. I didn't have my HCG levels checked at any point so I can't comment on that. Do you have a local early pregnancy unit? If so it might be worth giving them a call to discuss what's happened, I found them quite informative. Thinking of you

Madgwick · 07/05/2017 11:09

Thanks Custard, I've been booked in for a scan first thing Monday at the hospital near my Parents (not chosen birth hospital) in their early pregnancy unit. The community midwife from my area that i phoned was lovely and said that it might have just been placenta implantation. The scan seems like ages away but at least I'm with family and not stuck home alone (Husband overseas Sad). Just want to know what's going on.

Custardandcream · 07/05/2017 11:46

Glad to hear you're not on your own Madgwick, the wait for the scan is agonising, try to rest if you can. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow morning

Madgwick · 08/05/2017 15:30

I'm bowing out for a while as unfortunately our little bug didn't make it much past 9 weeks. From the scan, it seems that something went wrong just after our 9 week scan. I think I had started to prepare for bad news on Sunday. Although I’m not sure it's truly registered yet and feel that the previous rollercoaster of IVF/ICSI may have messed up any normal reaction. Just trying to get my head around what happens next.

I wish you all the best of luck with your pregnancies and little ones already arrived. Jen xx

Custardandcream · 08/05/2017 16:57

Oh Madgwick I'm so sorry, look after yourself and make sure you take plenty of time to process everything Flowers

Hope2409 · 08/05/2017 18:51

madgewick i am so so sorry to hear your news, you poor thing, it's heartbreaking. Please take care of yourself, my thoughts are with you Flowers

Sara237 · 08/05/2017 20:54

Madgewick - so sorry to hear about your loss. Can't imagine how you're feeling. Thinking of you and your dh. X

Pebbles086 · 08/05/2017 20:54

madgewick I am so sorry to see your awful news. It's seems so unfair Sad I am glad you're not alone and I hope your DH will be home soon. Thinking of you, lots and lots of love xxxxx

Madgwick · 08/05/2017 21:38

Thank you Custard, Hope, Sara and Pebbles, yes DH is home now and we have broken a four month self imposed sobriety! I have surgery to get through on friday but although it will be the end of one chapter we are determined that it will also be the beginning of the next. Thank you so much for your support and kind words xx

Pebbles086 · 09/05/2017 19:12

Thanks custard I wasn't sure if it had been arranged for me and I'd some how missed it!
chocolate don't push yourself, if you feel ready to finish and you're getting tired it maybe time to take that break.
I've been extremely lucky as I had a lot of annual leave to take and time already booked off before my mat leave. So it's been arranged that I work 2.5 days a week put still on full pay Smile I'll be finishing mid June. My reduced hours have made such a difference to my energy levels, but I can get a bit bored. Cannot complain though!
madge I hope the alcohol helped and gald you're thinking positive for the future. Best wishes for your surgery on Friday x

fourpawswhite · 09/05/2017 19:31

So sorry madjwick. Glad dh is with you. Take care of yourself.

Custardandcream · 11/05/2017 09:12

Madgwick I hope your surgery goes ok, best wishes for your new chapter x

Hope2409 · 12/05/2017 13:36

I'm afraid i am out ladies, couldnt even make it to my first scan.
Went in today to be told it was an anembryonic pregnancy, there was an empty sac but no baby.
Totally gutted.
Thank you all for your help and advice in the short time i have been here and i wish you all the best of luck with your pregnancies and babies xxx

Custardandcream · 12/05/2017 14:12

Hope I'm so sorry, take care of yourself. My thoughts are with you Flowers

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 12/05/2017 14:56

Hope and madgwick I'm so very sorry to hear about your losses. SadFlowers

I know people say 'a loss is a loss' but it really is harder when it comes after going through so much just to conceive. Be kind to yourselves (I alternately wept and gorged on stinky cheese, pate and wine after my m/c) and give yourselves time to grieve. FlowersWine

JustTrixie · 12/05/2017 15:04

Flowers Madgwick and Hope I'm so sorry, and am thinking of you both.
