Alb, thinking of you although no words will be enough to comfort you during this time. Hope you are as ok as you can be xxx

INeedNewShoes · 28/02/2017 23:30

Alb - sorry you're going through this. I hope you get some clearer answers tomorrow and crossing my fingers for you that you get some positive news

Effy1990 · 01/03/2017 06:45

Had my 20wk scan yesterday at 20+5 but I have to go back tomorrow for a consultant scan as the head was measuring about a week behind while the rest was all fine. Apart from that everything is fine but now I'm panicing that theres a major issue and I will lose this one as well. Please tell me I'm not the only one thats had to go through this.

INeedNewShoes · 01/03/2017 06:54

Effy - try not to panic. I've noticed during my scans that when the sonographer is taking measurements they get quite different numbers depending on the position of the baby, so there could be a harmless explanation.

Please do try not to tie yourself up in knots at this point (easier said than done I know!) Flowers

I had a scare in January when the sonographer measured my amniotic fluid as being too little. A few days later and the specialist consultant scanned me, rolled her eyes at the sonographer having caused alarm, and told me everything was absolutely fine!

Popcorn1979 · 01/03/2017 08:11

Effy, say and alb - thinking of you all today and hoping for some positive news for you all.

Gingerbreadmam · 01/03/2017 08:34

alb what a tough day you have had. i am keeping everything crossed for you. have they disçussed options of how they can / will intervene or will that be today?

im sure they will do everything they can to ensure that yoi dont have to go throught what you did with your daughter. i am keeping everythimg crossed for you.

Perpetualstateofchaos · 01/03/2017 08:35

Hiya,
I've just had a bfp after 3 miscarriages last year and 1 between my 2 ds's. Im awaiting an appointment at recurrent mc clinic to discuss ny blood results dp hasn't been able to have his done yet. feel so blasé about it atm as I'm terrified I'll mc again. Have any of you got any advice of how to get through these first few days or weeks? Tia

Gingerbreadmam · 01/03/2017 08:35

effy not heard of that before but as others have said it is easy to get measurements out a little so i wouldnt worry until you have seen the consultant today and had their opinion. hope it goes well.

good luck with yours today say

littlepooch · 01/03/2017 08:52

alb what a difficult day for you. That must have brought back so many memories. I hope you get seen by the fetal medicine quickly and they can give you some more information and reassurance.

SayItIsntSo1 · 01/03/2017 08:55

Measuring 10+2 with a lovely heartbeat!!! It looked a lot like a little baby, can't believe the change from the blob we saw 2 weeks ago.

Just waiting for bloods to be taken then 5/6 days for results.

Feeling relieved.

Hoping others get good news today too.

littlepooch · 01/03/2017 08:55

effy I'm sure it's just measurements being slightly out. I guess it's not an exact science - just like they can never properly predict just what weight a baby is going to be. Glad you're being seen again today so not too long to wait. say good luck for today. perpetual at that early stage I found just taking it one day at a time was all I could do. I haven't let myself get too attached or think too far into the future at any point as yet. Really hope this is it for you though and it's a sticky one.

littlepooch · 01/03/2017 08:55

Cross post say - great news! You must be so relieved!

SayItIsntSo1 · 01/03/2017 09:38

Hi Perpetual. Congratulations on your bfp. I'm finding the early weeks hard too. It helps me to break things down in to small chunks. Like I tell myself to get through another line of vitamins on the pack, or just to get to the end of the day in one piece. It's tough.

Thanks Little. I feel like I've run in to a wall but think that's the cold/stress coming through now the relief is settling in.

Gingerbreadmam · 01/03/2017 09:41

great news say

congrats perpetual and welcome to the thread!

oliversmummy26 · 01/03/2017 09:55

Good luck effy & alb today, thinking of you both and hope you get some good news Flowers

pooch I'm exactly the same as you, desperately waiting for screening results, I'm 36 too and worried that my age is going to push the risk up, as well as being more overweight this time Sad but you're absolutely right, no news is good news! We're also waiting on the results before telling people and I feel like once they're in and we have the good news we're hoping for I can start to enjoy the pregnancy a little and stop being so damn worried all the time!!

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 01/03/2017 10:22

effy as others have said, it's probably just that sonographer couldn't get a good measurement, try not to panic too much. At least not too long to wait for second scan.

Great news say, super pleased for you.

Congratulations perpetual, try and distract yourself with other things. I mostly just tried to ignore the fact I was pregnant in the first weeks, like it wasn't really real and not think too far ahead.

Perpetualstateofchaos · 01/03/2017 11:26

Thanks everyone. Typically I'd booked a holiday on Friday so do is worried about it. We will go and do what we were going to. Thankfully I got work to help keep me busy.

littlepooch · 01/03/2017 11:47

Same olivers we've decided not to tell anyone until the results and DH is bugging me too as he is dying to tell his family. Nothing in today's post. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

purpleviolet1 · 01/03/2017 16:28

Effy, I imagine it's quite likely that they have measured incorrectly. Hopefully your day today is going ok and when you go back tomorrow you will be reassured.

Alb hope you got some more info today xx

Perpetual - welcome and sorryto heat of your losses. As another poster said just set yourself some small milestones. Getting through each day in one piece. I went Netflix crazy in the early days to fill my time as much as possible.

Sayit - so happy for you! The risk of mc is so low now as you are approaching 12 weeks Smile

I went to Hosp for reduced movement this morning, was hooked up on the monitor and all appears ok. They did the growth scan today instead of Friday to make doubly sure and it was ok too although baby was in a really awkward position as well as being 'extended breech'. Anyone with any experiences of this?? Estimated weight at today's scan. is 6lbs 6 ounces. The fluid level is on the low side of normal so she said most likely be looking at a c section.

Does anyone know when they would likely do a c section given the above? At the last appt they mentioned 39 weeks if the only issue was breech. Not sure if the lower level of fluid will have any impact now.

Next appt on Monday now with the diabetes team.

35+5

INeedNewShoes · 01/03/2017 17:22

Purple - different hospitals have different policies. My hospital opt for a CS if baby is found to be breech at 36 weeks and I think the CS takes place at 39 weeks.

Specialist fetal medicine consultant told me my 'on the low side of normal' amniotic fluid is not a big concern; as long as you're just within the normal range rather than outside it I don't think you should worry about that. Keep hydrated! My amniotic fluid level actually rose a bit after I upped my water intake to ensure I get 2L a day (having read that one treatment for low amniotic fluid is IV rehydration fluids).

INeedNewShoes · 01/03/2017 17:24

And my question for the team is: do antenatal classes not cover breathing techniques anymore? Today was the 'labour' antenatal class and we covered pain relief, interventions etc. but not any practical guidance for during labour!

Next week's class is on feeding.

I feel like they've skipped the bit I might have found most useful!

purpleviolet1 · 01/03/2017 17:27

Thanks ineed! The antenatal classes I attended didn't cover breathing either...

TheLegendOfBeans · 01/03/2017 17:28

Wow this thread has cantered on!

To those of you facing anxious times I am sending you best wishes. Being pg after a mc is a headmelt in itself and anything on top of that must be agony. X

NewShoes antenatal classes; are you doing NCT?

jpeg28 · 01/03/2017 17:39

So much to catch up on!

Sorry to hear about your SIL Amy... hope she gets better soon.

Congrats to everyone with scans and good luck to those who have scans coming up. I know how anxious a time it is and I hope it goes really fast for you all!

Congrats Popcorn on the little girl!! So exciting! I wouldn't have even lasted 4 hours before opening it!! I wasn't planning on finding out the sex but for some reason it did make me relax a tiny bit and made it all feel real.

Alb I'm really sorry you've been having a tough time. Must be so hard after what happened last time. You are amazingly strong.

Say so so happy for you!!

purple sorry to hear you have had to go to hospital. No experience I'm afraid but glad baby was moving and ok. Definitely drink tons of water tho. I'm sure that's why I've almost got the 95th percentile amniotic fluid as I drink gallons!

I had my breastfeeding NCT session last night which was fantastic! OH loved it too and said it got him really excited about the baby coming! I'm definitely waddling now and sleep is pretty much impossible. Last night I had a little cry after trying the bed and various positions on the sofa and was still wide awake at half 2. I managed 3-5 in the end and surprisingly taught some good lessons today!

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Hand holding those who are having tough times xxx

MoonlightMojitos · 01/03/2017 18:24

newshoes sounds like you have the same ante natal classes schedule as me, is the 3rd one physio? I'm not sure they do cover breathing. I've booked daisy classes which I start tomorrow and that's what they're all about though so glad I have booked them knowing that now.
