smurf it was probably dtd which started your bleed off, but from what I've read, and from what GP and MW have both said to me it wouldn't harm baby. It's more than likely your cervix getting "bumped" and as it's full of a lot more blood than usual, it can bleed when irritated..

Legend no one told me to abstain, neither before my bleeding nor since. I've spoken to so may doctors/nurses/sonographers/MW since having the bleeding (most colours now!) and most people tend to agree that it is dtd which is causing my bleeding, but not one of them have told me to stop. At my scan on Sunday I was bleeding and bled all day, but there was no reason for the bleed on the scan and she managed to spot my cervix which she said was closed, so baby just fine in there.

From what I've read, it's highly unlikely that dtd will cause miscarriage, but if you're worried, it can't hurt to abstain for a while. Until around 12 weeks I guess. I don't know if 12 weeks is given as a time frame because it's when you're likely to have what would normally be a first scan, or if there's a genuine reason for saying 12 weeks?

Anyone suffering from nose bleeds? I'm getting one almost daily now and can't blow my nose anymore for fear of starting another. Which is a pain as I've got a constant stuffy nose too!

Gingerbreadmam · 21/02/2017 10:05

i had constant stuffy nose with last pregnancy and it was a boy Grin

had a couple of nosebleeds but not loads but i think it is a common symptom.

i had one on the way to work i couldnt stop probs because i am baby aspirin and my colleague told me to put my arm on the side of the nostril that is bleeding above my head. did the trick.

Cookiemonster19 · 21/02/2017 15:34

I've had really bad lower backache since yesterday evening! Is this normal? I think I'm around 6/7 weeks but I'm not sure because I haven't had a period since December due to pcos.... backpain is killing me though! Not sure if I should stay lying down or get up and try to do things around the house.
Any advice &a pain relief tips would be much appreciated x

Cookiemonster19 · 21/02/2017 15:35

Forgot to add... I did spend about 3 hours cooking yesterday and was stood in the kitchen & I'm not sure if that's contributed to the back pain

oliversmummy26 · 21/02/2017 15:53

Have you tried hot water bottle cookie? I find that's the only thing that helps me with backache and it's almost instant relief. You're allowed paracetamol, but that may not help much if it's really bad. Hot warm bath?

Cookiemonster19 · 21/02/2017 16:22

Oliversmummy yeh I've tried the hot water bottle, it's helped abit but it's not gone away :-( might try paracetamol later on if I can't handle it

Effy1990 · 21/02/2017 16:29

Cookie, I'm a bit further along then you at 19+5 and my midwife suggested deep freeze to me as sometimes heat can cause furthes inflammation. The packaging states its safe for use in pregnancy aswell.

Gingerbreadmam · 21/02/2017 16:35

cookie i couldnt cook for long periods of times at that stagw the bottom of my back killed. sitting with a cushion behind me in the curve helped and also gave a bit of heat there.

SayItIsntSo1 · 21/02/2017 17:04

After a bit of relief yesterday I feel like crud this evening. Luckily my PT has cancelled our session this evening but I was getting ready to cancel myself.

Hopefully a bath and chill out with tv will do the trick this evening. It would help if I wasn't up to pee 2-3 times a night Hmm

Cookie I have also had back ache on and off. More so these last couple of days as it eased off after week 4/5. I'm about 9 weeks now so think it can come and go. A bath and resting or a walk helps mine but the exercise seems to only make a real difference while I'm doing it. Being sat in meetings all day definitely doesn't help mine.

oliversmummy26 · 21/02/2017 17:06

Say I'm the same with getting up to wee, and every time, I lie in bed for about 10 minutes trying to work out if I can hold it until morning!

Gingerbreadmam · 21/02/2017 17:36

haha i think i am on 4 or 5 times a night. luckily loo is next door to our bedroom.

jpeg28 · 21/02/2017 17:41

I do that too! I lie there thinking "how long can I hold this" but that just makes me not sleep!! I remember the first trimester going for a wee about 5/6 times a night!! Then it got better, now I'm back up to 3-5!

Cookiemonster19 · 21/02/2017 18:31

Effy that's a good idea, I might try cold instead of hot, thankyou x

Ginger yeah i deffo think it was the standing up for too long.... going to try and do small bits at a time rather than do it all in one go again. You don't realise how much it takes it out of you!

Say deffo need to excersise more, I don't do enough lol having a bath now! See if it helps

littlepooch · 21/02/2017 18:51

Hello all. We had our 12 week scan today and everything looked good. She dated me as 12 weeks 3 days which as I thought. She said the NT measurements she took were fine but I opted to have the bloods done anyway. So fingers crossed all will be OK. Can't quite believe I've made it to 12 weeks in one piece!

Gingerbreadmam · 21/02/2017 19:00

yeah i laid off sunday roasts since then. i had the same problem last time. not worth it.

congrats littlepooch thats good news. mines a week tomorrow and im already starting to panic abit.

we will be having screening too so hoping for a good nuchal reading.

SayItIsntSo1 · 21/02/2017 19:30

purpleviolet1 · 22/02/2017 07:10

Not heard from nashtze? Her baby could be here??

purpleviolet1 · 22/02/2017 07:14

Lucky, if you wouldn't mind (and are still reading) we would love to see a pic!

Naschkatze · 22/02/2017 08:13

Purple I wish... still here, still no baby and still no real signs! 39+5... trying to be positive that he/she will come when they are ready. --Not convincing even myself

Congratulations Littlepooch, such good news!

MrsK8541 · 22/02/2017 08:44

Hi all, I haven't posted in a few weeks but I've been lurking. I'm 10 weeks 3 days and feeling lower backache and little niggly pains around my pubic bone. No bleeding thankfully but I'm still petrified of the discomfort! Saw baby at the weekend and had a strong heartbeat so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for scan next Thursday!
Anyone else feeling things going on down there?

INeedNewShoes · 22/02/2017 08:55

I think pelvic pain is quite normal MrsK so try not to worry. I had vague cramping a bit like period pains and occasional sharp stabbing pains in my lower vagina in the first trimester and neither turned out to be sinister. I think it's just everything stretching making room for baby! The stats are very good for a successful pregnancy having seen a heartbeat at 10 weeks so try to keep positive Smile

Nasch - fingers crossed for you that things start to happen sooner rather than later! I can only imagine that I will be very impatient to meet my baby by that point and getting fed up of all the things that are made difficult by having a big bump!

I'm 28 weeks and starting to find some things are difficult already.

purpleviolet1 · 22/02/2017 09:58

Fingers crossed for you nasche! I'm 34+ and finding things a bit more uncomfortable so hat off to you !

MrsK8541 · 22/02/2017 12:19

Thanks for your reassurance ineed. I've just been to the doctors and I have a UTI so I think that's what's giving me discomfort. The joys of pregnancy!
