Scan was perfect today! Little sticky bean was wavy his arms and legs at me and little heart beating away. I am over the moon and sooooooo relieved I cannot tell you! I almost cried Grin

It has made me feel much more positive and that's still going strong 2 hours later, lol! I think it's because baby didn't make it this far last time, so I feel like I've made another milestone. DH and I are starting to get excited now I think, he sounded like he nearly cried on the phone too!

I'm about 9+5 today and my boobs have felt different this week too, not sore anymore but just heavy and a bit tingly, almost like when they were getting too full with milk when I was BFing..

Nausea still coming and going too, though it doesn't seem to be all day anymore. I never got my anti-sickness meds prescription as I think if I felt better I would worry more.

Just got to make it to my 12 week scan now on 27th.

Good luck for tomorrow ginger my scanxiety was dreadful this morning! Good that you've had nothing since this morning though

oliversmummy26 · 09/02/2017 13:44

Our little bean looking like an alien... cutest I've seen though!Smile

been googling away and coughing and sneezing can definitely irritate cervix. relief!

hopefully scan will back it up tomo.

lovely news oliver. were the arms and legs quite clear? due to my history ive not got any of the pregnancy apps this time but wanted to ask sonographer tomo if everything is ok if arms and legs look normal my sons pffd wasnt discovered until 20wks which shocked me as his right leg was half the size of his left

oliversmummy26 · 09/02/2017 14:46

Ginger yes, really clear. Still short at this stage, but could definitely see them moving about Smile

Gingerbreadmam · 09/02/2017 14:47

fab, thank you.

jpeg28 · 09/02/2017 15:02

Amazing news Oliver!!! So happy for you!

Hope scan goes well tomorrow Ginger... scanxiety is so hard!! I'm sure all will be fine.

Does anyone who has HR knowledge know whether I am able to do a staggered return to work? I'm thinking 6 months off, for back 2 days a week for half a term then 4 after that. I'm a teacher so may not be allowed, but I just don't think I'll be ready after 6 months to go back properly but need the money!! Last night we sat down and made spreadsheets of how much I will get, OH was horrified! (I have been warning him for months but he didn't listen!!)

knorrig · 09/02/2017 15:13

Hi JPEG - I don't work in HR but my advice would be to just ask as some employers are willing to be flexible especially if you go to them with a proposal...after all having you back after 6 months for 2 days is better than you having a whole year off! Good Luck!

knorrig · 09/02/2017 15:14

And look at what your local authority policy says as it might allude to it on there.

Gingerbreadmam · 09/02/2017 15:38

thanks jpeg im googling away. apprently cyclogest can irritate the cervix too so could be anything. i will see tomo.

ill be returning after 6 month too as cant afford to do longer. luckily we get annual leave and i can use that to stretch it out.

they might.offer keeping in touch days you can use.in that time? my work offer 10 keeping in touch days not sure if they have to be essential though.

SayItIsntSo1 · 09/02/2017 16:02

Glad today's scan went well Olivers!

I've felt less nauseas so far today. Although a little sea sick laid here typing. Loooong day skiing so just trying to see it as a good thing I felt less sick and not worry it means something negative.

I did have a cry this morning. On a ski lift... not the most appropriate place. My would have been due date for our baby boy is Saturday the 11th. Felt overwhelmed by what could have been and that Monday we'll be finding out if this one looks viable. It all feels too much to bear to go through another loss, but I know in truth we'll survive. Plus, as my DH keeps telling me, there is no reason for this one to go wrong and we need to be positive that it will happen...

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a lovely day. Not long until the weekend! Smile

fuzzywuzzy · 09/02/2017 16:04

JPEG you will still accrue your annual leave when on Mat leave so this years and next years should be in your holiday bank (so to speak), you could use your annual leave to stagger your return to work.

Our hr suggested that to me, that I could return part time but the the days off would be annual leave until that's all used up I'll have about sixty days annual leave once I return as I've not taken any this year.

You can also get unpaid parental leave you might be able to use that to stagger out your return to work?

You should sit down with your hr and have an in depth discussion about the benefits and offers available to you surrounding your maternity leave.

Im really hoping to be able to take as much time off as possible for Mat leave this time, I went back to work after 14 weeks with my older dc and it was agony for me as I was breastfeeding and missed my baby so much.

jpeg28 · 09/02/2017 18:07

Thanks everyone... fuzzy I don't think I do accrue any annual leave as a teacher? Pretty sure is just unlucky that I will miss 10 weeks of the school holidays! I'll call the local authority I think as I did ask at school today but unfortunately our HR manager had left and the replacement just said no I had to come back and keep those days.
In an ideal world I would take 8-9 months off but I'm just not sure I can cope that long with no money!!

Sayit sorry you've had a tough day... due dates are so hard. Will you still be skiing? Can you try to do something nice to sort of remember your little boy? There is no reason that this one will go wrong, although that's easier said than done! Try to give yourself the day to think about the baby you lost. Xxx

Alb1 · 09/02/2017 19:07

Sorry for the short post this evening, having another busy week with the new business.

oliver great news about the scan, and lovely pic Smile

ginger is it tomorrow you have another scan? I'm sure it was nothing, especially as it was a one off, I understand the worry tho so I hope you don't stress about it too much tonight!

say it sorry your having a worrying day, they say being active and fresh air can help with the sickness though (always works for me) so maybe being out all day is helping ease the nausea?

grainmum · 09/02/2017 23:10

oliver great news on scan! Making me feel more positive. Will be thinking of you tomorrow ginger and hope that you get a nice reassuring scan again.

purpleviolet1 · 10/02/2017 08:09

Oliver great news!!

Gingerbread what time is your scan?

Woke up feeling terrible, hardly slept as felt the baby in my rib and just couldn't get comfy. Least it's Friday...

Gingerbreadmam · 10/02/2017 08:34

just had scan, everything is fine. bleed seems to have gone so assuming it was the sneezing that caused yesterdays little bleed.

ouch baby in your ribs? cant be good. hope you're in for a better sleep tonite!

fuzzywuzzy · 10/02/2017 08:53

Gingerbread so pleased to read your update. Hope te scan has put your mind to rest now.

Jpeg, also call ACAS they will also be able to advise about your maternity rights. And take a look to see if you have your staff handbook, you must have some guidelines about your maternity rights according to your work policy.

Gingerbreadmam · 10/02/2017 09:00

thanks fuzzy was nice seeing it was there and growing.

im stressing though tbh, there doesnt look like there's much fluid around yhe baby to me. i know im not a professional. sonographer wasnt concerned at all. hasnt put it in notes or anything but you know when it's worrying you?

also dating 9wks. should be 9+2 according to last scan however that one was internal and this one external and im fat. i guessing that could affect it?she did say i dont scan well (didnt mention fat, too polite) but she said she was happy with what she has seen.

littlepooch · 10/02/2017 09:38

Great news re scans oliver and ginger.

fuzzywuzzy · 10/02/2017 09:45

Ginger the water bit gets bigger with baby you don't want too much as that's also a source of worry. I remember thinking gosh there's not much around the baby when I was scanned in the early days as well.

And honestly the dates will never be exact. I know for a fact I'm dated a wrong on my notes they have to edd one according to lmp and one according to scan.

It's not an exact science and being out a couple of days is normal I think. I'm out by a week!

Try and relax and be reassured baby is well and there's no bleed and today you are pregnant. And it's Friday so tomorrow is the weekend. Treat yourself have your favourite take out tonight and try and rest.

HollyMay84 · 10/02/2017 09:53

Great news about the scan Ginger Smile

I officially now have symptoms! It's getting a bit more real now Smile boobs started yesterday and woke up with nausea this morning! I'm weirdly happy that I feel sick lol

Hope everyone else is good today x

Gingerbreadmam · 10/02/2017 10:05

oh did you have the fuzzy? i did do a quick google image and there were slightly similar images.

the sonographer didnt raise it with me, i asked her so she definitely wasnt concerned and said so when i asked.

i think it's easy to misinterpret stuff. at both scans she has asked if i am having screening and then i think is she asking for a reason. Then of course they say things like everything is looking good today. if you have any bleeding or anything ring and come in
and it feels like there is an undertone.

i guess though they cant say oh yes there is a baby everything looks great another 31 weeks and you will be a mother.

fuzzywuzzy · 10/02/2017 10:18

Yes I did and I scan normally (never been told I'm difficult to scan).

They told me to keep all my screening appointments as well. I think it's normal advice she put it on my notes 'advised to attend all screening tests'.

And she repeated it to me to make it clear. My baby and I am fine I'm 39 so older but not classified as in any risk due to age.

I think it's normal. Please try and not worry xx

MrsAlanPartridge · 10/02/2017 10:19

Great news on scans oliver and ginger
I think there's so many things to misinterpret and get our anxiety going, especially in the early weeks! I was told I have a synechiae at the dating scan. It was like a mass and apparently common with multiple pg. I will ask more at 20 WK scan as too much else to worry about at this stage!
17+2 and still detached and cannot relax. Never ending..

Gingerbreadmam · 10/02/2017 10:56

well i am certainly in good company here it seems Grin

i just feel really deflated today which is ridiculous as i should be over the moon. Just had a little bit more blood too. Nothing that's worrying me but adding to the feelings.

Think i will put all progesterone up bum from today incase it is that irritating my cervix seen as tho she couldnt see a bleed today.
