Ladies, do any of you use (or have used) so called 'baby aspirin'? I've read on Dr Google that it can help with implantation. I've had a very early miscarriage and a chemical pregnancy in the last three months so I know there's not an issue falling pregnant, but there is potentially a problem with the implantation process.
If you have used it, do you take it whilst ttc and stop once you've got a BFP? Or is it something you take after your BFP? Or an ongoing thing? Also, I've read progesterone deficiency can be an issue. This may be a stupidly stupid question, but is this something that has to be prescribed or can I buy something over the counter? Or are there any super foods that are packed with the stuff?
I'm getting desperate now. I would ideally like to see my gp, but it's so difficult to get an appointment and then once that miracle occurs, it's difficult to get time off work without having the Spanish Inquisition from my colleagues (one of whom told me, just after my first miscarriage in December, that if conceived another child, she would hand in her notice as she can't stand the thought of being on her own with our other colleague while I was on maternity leave).
Actually, I wonder if the underlying stressful atmosphere at work could be causing an issue????

Gingerbreadmam · 01/02/2017 22:06

Ive been taking 75mg aspirin from bfp. I think thats the ideal time as it can interfere with implantation.

Ive also just managed to get cyclogest (progesterone) prescribed. There is no evidenced this works but it certainly doesnt do any harm and a lot of people have success with it.

Another 7 months and ill know.if they helped! Not had any tests to see if i nees them theyre a 'just incase' mechanism.

I bought my aspirin from asda and this was recommended by my consultant after my sons stillbirth.

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 01/02/2017 22:12

ginger I won't get my blood test results from 12 wk scan until my midwife apt at 16wks. Not had anomaly scan yet, that's still over 6 weeks away.

I hate all this waiting.

ducks I would ring and see if you can get an appointment with your gp as you have lots of concerns. Mine wouldn't put me on baby asprin as I had "only" had 2 mcs and that's not counted as repeat.

I don't know anythjng about progesterone deficiency sorry but I guess they would test for that.
The help for me seemed to be iron tablets as I got pregnant (and it's stuck so far) the cycle after I started taking them. I was tested for anaemia due to breathlessness and lightheadedness. It's probably not a good idea to take them if you don't need to.

Gingerbreadmam · 02/02/2017 07:09

Unfortunately i dont think you can get the tests which prove you need aspirin or progesterone or both until you have had three losses at it would be the recurrent mc clinic that would run those.

Sometimes they come back clear and aspirin is still recommended as a 'may as well try it' method. If you google you will find lots of information.

purpleviolet1 · 02/02/2017 08:33

Just to pitch in - my obstetrician (after two mc) said that the old advice was to start aspirin and progesterone straight away for precautionary measures and that's the first thing they did after mc. He was willing to give me aspirin but only after 10/ 11 weeks because he said unless a proven need, there is evidence it can impact implantation. I didn't have implantation issues as such though. That was maybe just his view. For the progesterone he was neither here nor there but I know you can get it through the EPU as soon as you have any spotting as part of the PRISM trial. I didn't have either or but I did have antibiotics because I suffer from recurrent infections which were thought to cause my previous miscarriages.

Gingerbreadmam · 02/02/2017 08:47

Also apologies doom i was confusing screening with anomally!

Gingerbreadmam · 02/02/2017 08:49

purple i was offered the prism trial but got prescription through gp as only 50% chance you get the actual progesterone via the trial.

purpleviolet1 · 02/02/2017 10:44

Oh yes gingerbread you are correct! Only 50% chance of getting it through prism as the other 50% will get a placebo. Thanks for clarifying

Gingerbreadmam · 02/02/2017 11:04

It's a shame really as i really wanted to take part in the trial and see the value of it for research purposes but, for me and my history, it really wasnt worth the risk.

I did speak to the research nurse and see if i could participate in some way knowing i have the prescription but it's not possible which is a shame.

20 week scan went well, all looks perfectly normal. Had to go alone as someone phoned in sick at work (me and DH own the business) so he had to go in and I was even more nervous as a result, but we're both just glad everything looks normal for now. Going to tell our family's now and make it all scary real. Not had chance to read back very far, hope everyone's ok today

INeedNewShoes · 02/02/2017 13:31

jpeg28 · 02/02/2017 15:57

Fantastic news Alb!!

Popcorn1979 · 02/02/2017 16:30

Lovely news alb!

Think it is game over for me. After good scan last week at 7 weeks, just started bleeding red blood. Came out of nowhere (no cramps and still have some symptoms) but obviously not good. EPU are seeing me tomorrow at 11am. This will be mc 4 for me so if there is a silver lining, it is that they will hopefully try and fix me this time although at the moment I can't imagine putting myself through this again. Totally devastated but I have my two boys for some cuddles.

Hope you are all having better days!

Gingerbreadmam · 02/02/2017 16:32

popcorn no cramps is a good sign! I am keeping everything crossed for you. Hope you are ok Flowers

Popcorn1979 · 02/02/2017 16:34

Thanks ginger, really appreciate it. I actually didn't have cramps for either of my other two natural mc so unfort this is normal for me. Wish that wasn't true!

Gingerbreadmam · 02/02/2017 16:54

Oh dear. Well stay with us all for now you just never know. Im really rooting for you here.

oliversmummy26 · 02/02/2017 17:09

Keeping everything crossed for you popcorn let us know how you get on...remember, it's not over until it's over Flowers

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 02/02/2017 17:37

Oh popcorn I really hope it's not as you fear. Fingers crossed and thinking of you. Flowers

Alb sorry you had to go alone but glad it went well for you today.

mrs I got a really nice pair of grey ones from Boden when I was pregnant with DD. I had a discount codes off so I think I only paid a tenner for them but I would probably pay full price as they were so soft and comfy and nice and thick.

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 02/02/2017 17:41

I've just had a quick look on boden website and either I've gone mad and they weren't boden at all or they don't sell them anymore. How bothersome.

Gingerbreadmam · 02/02/2017 17:43

Normal next leggings used to be great then went down hill a bit. Worthooling at the reviews incase theyve improved again.

INeedNewShoes · 02/02/2017 19:58

Popcorn - don't give up just yet but if it does turn out to be as you fear then be forceful about investigations being carried out Flowers

On leggings, I'm quite pleased with my JoJo leggings. They are so comfy I wish I could live in them and a good dark shade of black. Bit pricey though but I decided to allow myself one good pair.
