Thanks for the advice...maybe I'll go on the guise of pathetic female who knows nothing (rather than someone who reads up on everything) and ask what I can do??? At least I would know. TBH although lost both babies at about 10 weeks I can't imagine they got to that stage so at least if I had a scan at 6 weeks I would know yes you are likely to be OK or sorry no luck this time.

Hope the rest of you lovely ladies are OK.

Mumpbump · 28/03/2007 11:44

Good morning!!!!

Firststar - I worked up until 2 weeks before the due date last time for exactly the same reason and was fine with it. In fact, I am contemplating working up until 39 weeks this time as I was SOOO bored at home before ds arrived...

Uki - haven't checked the thread to confirm if you have a scan today, but if you have, I look forward to hearing your positive news later!!!

Fettle - I know your dd is ill, but how lovely to have a day of cuddles!!

Hope everyone else is doing well... I was awake for three hours last night and eventually fell asleep at 06:00 to have a dream about losing ds! Horrid...

cazzybabs · 28/03/2007 11:58

Iam off to my parents for a few days. See you all when I get back!

Hi everyone, sorry I have not been around for a while, hope everyone is doing well, I am having a good day today for once, its amazing how much better I feel when the sun is shining.

Good luck to anyone with scans coming up, I will check in a bit more often to see how it is all going

ejt1764 · 28/03/2007 12:13

Afternoon all,

firststar - I hope your sleeping improves - I worked up until 10 days before due date last time (but had summer holidays, then back at school for one week only!), then ds was 16 days late! I got very bored, but also got into crochet - I couldn't walk far by that point due to spd. This time, I'll probably do the same - summer holidays, then back for one week, to do handover for my replacement, then finish ...

I hope your sleeping improves!

fettle - hugs to you and dd - hope you both feel better soon!

I'm starting to get very excited about our holiday ...

Have a good afternoon - and hello to everybody else!

Daisybump · 28/03/2007 13:39

Hi All, hope things are going well....I'm stopping work on Friday, a whopping 10 weeks before my due date, and I still don't think there is enough time between now and then to get everything done and organised. Our house is like a bombsite as we have been decorating and all switching bedrooms to make room for the new bundle...then there's the last six months worth of ironing, clutter, paperwork etc etc etc. Don't think I'll have the time to be bored. I also really hate my job which is busy and stressful, so......bring it on!!!! Mind you, I worked till 38 weeks with DS and then he was 12 days overdue and I remember that last bit being particularly hard, but I think that's cos I couldn't fit behind the wheel of the car, or walk very far and was stuck in my flat. This time, I'll be on the lounger in the garden, weather permitting and filling the freezer with home cooked meals for the onslaught ahead!!

Uki · 29/03/2007 00:24

Hi Again

Thank you All Yes had scan and all good. Thank goodness. The first thing the sonographer said was "you know we'll find 60% of abnormalities today" I was like "that's scary" Got a really good look at everything. So relieved and did find out sex, but not telling people in RL, We seem to have a bit of pressure to have a particular sex, and I find that so horrible when we have had enough trouble just getting the baby in the first place.

I think i should be able to relax now, I'll catch up a bit more later.

waves to all madly

Good morning and fab news, Uki! So pleased for you. I completely understand that you do not want to tell the sex to RL people, especially if there is any sort of pressure but the burning question is -- will you tell your cyber-friends?! (Okay, I just had to ask...)

rubles · 29/03/2007 11:16

Uki, I am really pleased it was all alright. We found out the sex of dd but didn't tell anyone in rl, but my dufus dp kept saying 'she' accidentally so they didn't need to be Einstein to work it out.

I was like Daisybump with the maternity leave, but that was probably due to the fact my work was mega-stressful with too much aggro and a 1.5 hour commute each way. I enjoyed getting up do date with lots of left over tasks and getting the house in shape (it has never been as organised as it was then). I suppose it depends how on top of things you are at home, I am not at all generally so had loads to do.

Fettle, I am sorry to hear you are still so worried. Maybe it will come step by step before you can relax and enjoy it..say if the consultant hears the heartbeat, then you will start to show and feel kicks, then you'll have your anomaly scan and at each stage you might just start to believe it a bit more. Although I still check my knickers etc I have reached a point now where I am not that worried, but that is partly because I don't actually feel very pregnant anymore. I almost can't believe it. Me and dp occasionally talk about the new baby but I kind of feel we are play-acting or something, as the prospect of a new baby seems so far removed from our reality.

We have had an offer accepted on a new house - it's very exciting indeed, but also scarey due to the extra financial commitment and the costs of moving involved. It's lucky I am off work this week as there is just so much to do and organise.

Hello All

Congrats on the scan, Uki

Mumpbump · 29/03/2007 12:27

Morning all!

Congratulations to Uki on the scan and Rubles on the house offer!

I know what you mean about pressure, Uki. With ds, everyone kept on saying "do you think it's a boy?" I was really surprised that there seemed to be so much cultural bias towards a boy so I decided I had to root for a girl so at least one person would be pleased if the baby was female. This time, having had a boy, everyone's gunning for a girl, so I'm hoping for a boy. I just find people's attitudes towards the sex of a baby and how strongly they feel really odd!

Where are you moving to Rubles? Far away or different house in same place?

Daisybump - feeling very envious. My work is dead boring at the moment. They have excess capacity in our team and I have so much to do at home (still building after 2 years...) that I'd much rather be there. Can't wait to go on mat leave...

Firststar - as a result of the earlier conversation, we've now asked our bank for a mortgage break. No idea whether we'll get it, but it would never even have occurred to me if it hadn't been mentioned on here. So thanks to you for sparking that discussion off and to whoever mentioned the mortgage holiday (sorry I can't remember who now!)...

Not feeling too bad today, but a bit coldy. I am out for a work dinner tonight so will be making something up to justify not drinking too much. Have definitely got a fledgling bump which is making it seem more real! Haven't been able to feel any definite movements for a while (like kicking/punching), but I'm still get an odd rolling feeling from time to time which I think is the baby turning. So feeling pretty optimistic still!

Actually, I told my managers and HR department last week, but am waiting until the 20 week scan before making it public knowledge. Problem is that I am already showing a bit so I think it's probably going to be bleeding obvious before I get to 5 months, this time around... My work were very supportive last time and seem to be equally supportive this time. Probably helps that all three managers have very young children themselves. In fact, it turns out that one of them is expecting his second child on 20 October!!

Woooozle100 · 29/03/2007 14:10

Hey Mumpbump - I got this ace dress from New Look last week - disguised my little pot a treat. Its kind of floaty from under the bust with extra material floating down the front - asymetric hem. Its light colours with beigy, goldy butterflies on it. Not the sort of thing I'd normally wear (felt like a Bollywood princess!) but v flattering / concealing. It does show off the boobs a bit though - but hey ho yr colleagues might just suspect a boob job rather than pregnancy! Hope you have a good night tonight

I'm a bit annoyed by the gender presumptions / questions too - like everybody is driven by the thought of having 'one of each'. Aye - it'd be nice - as would (in my case) another girl. Pff whatever - a baby with all its genetic material - is my usual answer to the 'What would you like' type questions.

Mumpbump · 29/03/2007 16:27

Think I might try and have a look in New Look at the weekend and see what they've got! Thanks for recommendation, Ejb...

Daisybump · 29/03/2007 22:30

Glad the scan went well Uki...is that you 20 weeks now...time flies when your busy checking knickers. How you doing Firststar?
A house move Rubles? Are you doing it before the baby is born?....don't envy you at all. I've just got to sort mine out. We moved just before Christmas 05 and still have some boxes that haven't been unpacked . So tempted to just throw them away without looking, but pretty sure that half the stuff that has been in the 'It's here somewhere' category will come spilling out when I open tham.
Last day at work tomorrow and strangely enough my emotional outbursts seem to be lessening. Talked to my MW and she said it was just hormones and would likely settle down...But I'm a bit concerned though as I have a history of depression and had PND after DS was born.....but at least my DH is very supportive and he knows the signs.

Off to Scotland on Sunday to visit my relatives then off to Boston (Lincolnshire, not Massachusets unfortunately) for the Easter Weekend so won't be around much. Have fun and try to relax....

Mumpbump · 30/03/2007 10:30

Morning all! Had a dream last night that I had another m/c so felt a bit unsettled this morning. Just shows that you can do the whole positive thinking thing, but it's all just simmering away below the surface... Had a very nice evening out last night and looking forward to a weekend with ds! Hope everyone else is well today and full of positivity!

PurpleLostPrincess · 30/03/2007 10:50

Poor you MumpBump, dreams can really rock my thinking too - I had an insecure day yesterday...

By the way, Next has got a sale on so I'm going to see if they've got any maternity stuff going cheap - I'll let you know!

Hope you're all well and have good weekends xx

Woooozle100 · 30/03/2007 14:47

Hi All

Boo to your rubbish dream, Mumpbump. OK this is TMI but......................................................................................................................................

I had a major fright yesterday. Wiped and saw red.. bright, fresh. SOOOOOOOOOO relieved to find that it was actually a ripped pile Oh sorry for sharing ladies but sure I can't be the only one to have had that cause of panic and relief. Hope you are all well

Mumpbump · 30/03/2007 14:57

Ejb - I have never said this before and I cannot imagine being in a position to say it again, but I am so glad that you have piles!!! I can imagine how you felt. Had tummy cramps the other day and was paranoid it was the start of something sinister. It's all very scary really, isn't it?!?

Woooozle100 · 30/03/2007 15:20

Hee hee - was too so chuffed that it was just my old friend Percy popping back to see me. So chuffed in fact, a wave of euphric madness swept over me and I had the urge to go and show dh. Thankfully for our marriage I never!

ooh and the paranoia over tummy cramps - nevermind the logical fact are stomachs are being squashed and moved into new positions its arrgghhh panic stations. Had this myself t'other week. It preceded a 10 second tuneful breakage of wind :O
