I agree with firststar, Hillbilly - don't worry about not listening for a hb. My m/w refused to listen for a hb at my booking in appointment at 10 weeks. She said it wouldn't pick anything up anyway until after 15 weeks...

Glimmer · 19/03/2007 15:27

I saw and heart a heartbeat. It's the first time I have seen a heartbeat and I still can't believe it. The reason for the bleeding is unknown. Thank you so much for all you support so far. I don't know what I would have done without your reassurance. I think I will relax now a little more. I will have another one at 8 weeks.

rubles · 19/03/2007 15:37

Oh wow you're back!! I had decided you must have gone home, I'm so relieved!!! That's just brilliant news.

fettle · 19/03/2007 15:40

Keep looking after yourself now!!

Congratulations Glimmer!! What a great start to the week!

Here's hoping for more positive news as the week goes on...

ejt1764 · 19/03/2007 17:38

fab news Glimmer .....

gemmamc · 19/03/2007 20:15

hello! good to have some good news...!

I had a difficult weekend, because I had some really bad cramps, which turned out to be ......TMI warning......a bad diarrhea.
I got a bit scared because the pain resembled vaguely that of the contractions I had with m/c...

But hopefully it was just an indigestion or a virus as it then stopped, rather than continuing and getting worse ....plus I am not bleeding or anything...

Has anyone had a digestion problem like this? I had a similar intestinal problem just before I m/c last time, and it was at the same time of the pregnancy (9 weeks) so obviously I am a bit nervous...

But of course it could be just a coincidence....especially given I am prone to IBS.

PurpleLostPrincess · 19/03/2007 20:17

Excellent news Glimmer, really pleased for you!

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately but I have been following everybody and hope you are all well.

I had my first full week back at work last week and managed to survive but was coming home knackered, reading up on mn and then falling asleep on the sofa. Poor hubby ended up watching tv on his own every night bless him! He's been a star and he's getting all protective and talking about baby now which is good. Also, I think I felt baby move the other day - yay!

Got a headache last night and this morning so didn't go into work, then the headache went and the sickness hit me like a tonne of bricks all of a sudden and it was just like it was a few weeks ago. So, I'm feeling really sorry for myself! I didn't want to start taking the anti-sickness tablets again but ended up taking one - I wouldn't mind but it hasn't really helped! Not sure if I'm up to working tomorrow but we need the money... I'm 13+2 now so I was hoping that things would get better but looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer.

Sorry to rant and I hope I haven't bored you all.

The singing sounds brilliant, what a buzz! I did try to tune in but there were so many different games going on, I didn't manage to actually catch any singing. Glad it went well though. I was in a musical a couple of years ago and there's nothing like it!

Take care all ((((((((((hugs)))))))))))

PurpleLostPrincess · 19/03/2007 20:21

(sorry, crossed posts)

gemmamc, I was going to mention I've had a really bad tummy today! I was having cramps about two hours ago and got really worried but managed to have a big poo (sorry if TMI) and I'm feeling a bit better now. I think my Mum's roast dinner from yesterday didn't really agree with me, especially as dh has had similar symptoms today.

When you say 'turned out to be', have you seen your GP at all? Maybe somebody could suggest good foods for it?

gemmamc · 19/03/2007 20:44

hi purple - it happened last night (although also to a lesser extent earlier last week) and today I was much better, so I haven't seen the GP yet. If it continues, I certainly will. I can't think of anything I've eaten that could have done this, and I am rather thinking of a virus, because on saturday I felt a slightly tight chest - like a cold....and my husband has been saying he thinks he has a cold.

fettle · 19/03/2007 21:51

Hi All

Thanks for the reassurances about the spotting -had some more (TMI alert!, but an amount of thick, gloopy, brown CM) last night. Nothing since, but back on excessive knicker watch again. Even took my temp again this morning, but obviously it was still high, as I've definitely still got pg hormones - mad this obsessiveness isn't? roll on Friday, at least it is at 9am!!

As firststar says, only 4 sleeps to go and if I go to sleep now, it is nearly only 3 sleeps to go!

take care everyone

fettle · 19/03/2007 21:54

BTW, I've been getting tummy cramps throughout this pg and keep thinking they're AF-like pains coupled with awful trapped wind. Had some diarrhoea too recently (blush), but I've always had dodgy digestion (??IBS) and pg hormones do affect your digestive system don't they - although they tend to cause constipation - so I'm sure it is related to hormone levels.

Mumpbump · 20/03/2007 09:52

Morning all! There are a lot of gastric bugs doing the rounds at the moment. Ds, dh and my mum have all had it, as has our au pair. I've had the opposite problem - tummy pains from constipation following my holiday in France. Too much bread and cheese and not enough fibre...

Quite tired today as ds was awake twice in the night. Not sure what's up with him, but his sleeping has been very disturbed for the last few nights. Can't wait for a newborn to add into the mix!

Woooozle100 · 20/03/2007 11:52

Hello All

Glimmer - pleased to read your news. Its v good to see heartbeat so early on.

Fettle - hope all is well.

I got an horrendous stomach bug when pg with dd. Only lasted about a day but I was convinced it was something far more sinister - or listeria (arrgghh! I never washed the already washed bagged rocket properly!) It wasn't. GP, midwives went to great efforts to reassure me.

Mumpbump - my dd has also stopped sleeping at night. She prefers to laugh like a drain for hours and hours instead?! Saw signs of a fang coming through so could justify getting out the Medised last night

Love and best wishes to all x

Great news Glimmer - you must be over the moon

Re the hb thingfrom my booking app, the mw was right not to try to find it, anyway I have already heard it at the private scan at 8 wks.

Have also been suffering with constipation the last couple of weeks and I know I'm not drinking enough water. Funny as I usually drink loads. Better go and get a glass now

Hi to everyone else.

ejt1764 · 20/03/2007 13:56

Hi all,

at all the tmi warnings today!

purpleprincess - sorry to hear the ms is back - hope it doesn't last .... mine is still here with a vengeance! Guess what set me off this morning ... water! Not good ...

We weren't shown on the BBC coverage, but S4C did a piece on it as part of their rugby coverage!

herbaceous · 20/03/2007 16:13

Hi Girls.

Nice to hear everyone getting along fine. My trip to Cannes was in fact good fun, though I'm feeling wracked with guilt for having a glass of champers (with food) after that Observer article.

Going away helped a week to fly by, and now I'll be 11 weeks on Thursday. Feeling iller than before, though the frantic boob-checking (are they still sore? are they sore just because I keep poking them?) continues. I've got a scan tomorrow, and am so scared. I found out at the nuchal fold scan last time that the baby had died, and the image of the totally still baby on the screen still haunts me. I know I'm just being neurotic, but could do with some wise words from MNetters...

Mumpbump · 20/03/2007 16:18

Hi Herby! Pleased you had a good trip. My scan is tomorrow as well, so let's hope that we both have some good news. I will be thinking of you...

ejt1764 · 20/03/2007 16:21

Hi herby - glad you had a good trip ... I have no wise words for you, just the fact that I've been there too (as has MrsFish) ... thinking of you and hoping that History doesn't repeat itself for any of us when we have our scans.

herbaceous · 20/03/2007 16:29

Good luck all round, then. Logically, I know that the same thing's unlikely to happen again. The baby had Edward's Syndrome, which is both rare and totally random.

In fact, this is a private scan at a consultant's office - the one who prescribed me steroids. My actual nuchal fold nightmare isn't until next week.

I'll keep you posted. You girls are a tonic...

Herba and Mumbump -- good luck for your scans tomorrow. Scans will always be scary, but just imagine how happy you will be afterwards!
