I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Afternoon all,

I'm so sorry people are struggling so much today, especially with drinking, thirst is a terrible thing :( I hope you find something. I've found mineral water better than tap because I could smell the chlorine. And smell sips. Also, last night I drank from the vinegar bottle... yeah, maybe not that one.

I joined the shower vomit club this morning. When do I get my medal?

CastleFeck · 17/10/2016 15:06

So sorry to hear some of you are so blooming poorly today,
My go to drinks have been
Lucozade sport
Fanta (although no more)
Ice lollies
Choc milkshake
All really cold.

I've also started holding my nose when I'm sick then you don't have to taste it (can't smell = can't taste) you have to control your breathing quite well doing this so you don't die though!!

LHReturns · 17/10/2016 15:10

Thank you so much Castle - I have just ordered two large chocolate ice cold milkshakes from a delivery company - that might be ok today.

fourcorneredcircle · 17/10/2016 15:22

Mmmm ice cold milk shakes delivered to me... damnit, why do I live in the provinces?!

Just heard from GP, after Friday's scare I'm going for a scan tomorrow. Guess I'll be joining the "dildo-cam" club too this week.

GP said I'd need a full bladder. No idea how to ensure this happens as I'm barely peeing at all.

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 17/10/2016 15:54

Gosh I feel like a bit of a fraud now.

Just been given the all clear to come home so waiting on my lift.

Ketones back to zero (was 4 yesterday on admission) and my wee is a nice colour.

I did vomit again though, after a nice vomit free-24 hours.

I woke this morning and felt sooo much better, think I got a bit giddy and overate, giving my stomach a shock.

Had a scan aswell. Bit tense as she could only see an empty sack, so had to have an internal. I was so embarrassed, I haven't showered since Thursday or shaved my legs on god knows how long Blush

Love the term 'dildo-cam'. Grin

All good, only one baby, but I'm a week shorter than I thought, which means the end of this is a week further away. Sad

Got a prescription for enough cyclizine for 7 days and I can't tell you how happy I am.

Can't wait to get home and have a shower!

Sorry to everyone that's still feeling rubbish.

LHReturns · 17/10/2016 16:27

Hi Boobs! I am so delighted for you that you feel so much better. Shows what dehydration does to us all.

Also delighted you had a nice scan - while annoying, one week back is nothing. So many women gets their due date pushed right back once measurements can be properly taken. Happened with my son and all I too could think was 'another week of morning sickness, dear god!!'.

I am smiling a little though - I had my first shower today since Friday and I can see how you might not have wanted a vaginal US without feeling suitably freshened up!

I am still a mess here. Have glugged one thick chocolate milkshake that I had delivered. Feel awful but trying very hard to hang onto it. DH is on his way home from work now to go and get my Ondansetron prescription filled - please say the effects are quick. I need to keep some liquid down and I need some sleep.

NerrSnerr · 17/10/2016 16:32

Hi all, just popping my head in. The new medication has improved things but after a bad night (damn insomnia and an early waking toddler) I have been sick loads again today as tiredness kicks it off big time. My drink of choice is Dr Pepper, I cried the other night as I drunk the last can and my husband had to go out at 9.30pm to buy me more. It was cream soda the last pregnancy but can't stomach it this time.

CastleFeck · 17/10/2016 17:12

Wow I can't imagine living somewhere that delivers milkshakes. I'm a total hill billy, I was amazed when I could order a dominoes and that was only 2 months ago. Hope it stayed down lh.

Hope the evil evening hours are going ok for everyone.
I find being horizontal helps keep food down

LHReturns · 17/10/2016 17:26

Hee hee, funny it never occurred to me that a milkshake delivery was so odd. I am in central London, and am a sucker for an App called Quiqup - charming men speeding about on scooters picking up pretty much anything you want.

Ok I now have 8mg of Ondansetron on board. Am I going to feel amazing in minutes? I'm waiting...

NerrSnerr · 17/10/2016 17:53

Thank you for warning me about the Ondansetron constipation. I am going to have to go to the chemist and see what they can offer me tomorrow. I don't think my diet of plain pasta and dr Peppa is massively helping.

LHReturns · 17/10/2016 17:57

Nerr, only a fellow HG sufferer would totally understand that diet. Sounds entirely reasonable.

My baby is IVF, and the progesterone pessaries we have to 'use' caused me real constipation at the start. Two DulcoEase before bed really helped me (far more than Movicol which caused a lot of bloating and pain).

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2016 18:45

Weird as I never suffered from Constipation in all the ivf drugs I've had

Def try lactulose or prune juice 'heaves'

Rem nick naming probe dildo cam at one of my ivf cycles and nurse laughed

Feel ok today. Will prob be sick tonight .....

But I do feel a fraud compared to how some of you are so poorly

Rest rest rest really do help. Stay still and flat in bed

CastleFeck · 17/10/2016 19:08

I'm Ivf too, I've had so many dildo cams over the years I see an ultra sound machine and start taking my clothes off!!

LucindaE · 17/10/2016 20:53

IAmSeriousAndDon'tCallMeShirley That's awful about there being no bed!
I particularly second ice lollies, elderflower water, Lucozade (though sometimes it set off heartburn) the juice of tinned fruit and the fruit itself, ice cubes, soda water and sips of flat coke. Sorry you are being re-acquainted with Billy the Bucket.
IcanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets Glad you are discharged now, and a bit better.
NerrSnerr Sorry about bad night and sickness.
LHReturns Never worry about tmi on here. Bile is vile.
foxmulder and LHReturns It's very painful, but your LO will forget very soon and have lots of fun with a sibling. I wish I had gone for it again.

FourCorneredCircle Sorry about shower puke (hands over virtual medal).
Castlefeck Horizontal is a good tip!
Waves to Blondes MotherofPearl and everyone. Apologies if I've overlooked anyone.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/10/2016 22:32

I said that at my 16w scan at clinic where I had private scans during ivf as had abroad

Nice to lay on couch and not take my knickers off and open my legs for a scan

Thought I escaped sickness this evening. Nope. Usually severe tho least once a day/night now

Had curry. Was yummy. Homemade by df with remains of yesterday's roast

But

Bloody rice. Every fucking grain came up

Hey ho. Feel fine now

Hope you all have a good night and lh hope medication dh got for you helped

LHReturns · 18/10/2016 08:08

Oh oh oh Ondansetron - can I marry you? Can I make a baby with you?

Will be back after I have had some BREAKFAST.

BLondes, throwing up rice - makes me shiver with horror.

Purplefairy21 · 18/10/2016 09:07

Hi, I can't remember if I posted on here the other day as I'm sure I've puked up my brain cells as well as everything else. Found out at my booking in appointment last week that I had hg with ds and mw said I've probably got it again. How bad do you have to get to require treatment? Currently I've had 24/7 nausea that even sleep doesn't give me a reprieve as it wakes me up for nearly a month and there's really not an awful lot I can eat and I tend to see it again. Even my bland and boring diet of tinned /cup chicken soup and ice pops is a struggle. My lips have got sores on from struggling to drink and been sick on top of that. Cant use lip balm as it makes me sick. Any tips or suggestions? I've tried dry crackers and all the usual ones. Im just feeling particularly grim and miserable this morning.

FoxMulder · 18/10/2016 09:23

Purple call the doctors! I was on meds before I was even feeling sick to try to prevent it!

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 18/10/2016 11:15

Definitely call the GP Fairy
Tell them you're pregnant and you're very dehydrated, they'll get you in quick (hopefully). Don't put it off, do it soon x

fourcorneredcircle · 18/10/2016 11:23

Had a scan... not even a dildo cam one...

One small but so far perfect baby with a beating heart.

Bring me my bucket, I'll have a celebratory vomit.

Fairy go to the doctor, there's no need to suffer without trying the meds. Flowers

LHReturns · 18/10/2016 11:28

Boobs is right. It is much harder to get on top of nausea and vomiting if you have already reached rock bottom when you start.

Purple I am so sorry, i understand everything you describe. Waking throughout the night writhing with nausea is one of the most depressing states I have ever found myself in. Please get some medication as fast as possible before the psychological effects start to take hold.

Boobs how are you feeling today?

LHReturns · 18/10/2016 11:29

Fourcornered YEAH!!! Congratulations! What wonderful news!

It's 'funny' (not) - one thing about the HG thread is that our suffering usually indicates a viable pregnancy in there....

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 18/10/2016 11:34

I feel for you purple
For some reason we seem to accept that this is just the way it has to be, and we should expect to be ill when pregnant and 'it'll all be worth it'
Well yes, but that seems a long way off when you can't sleep, eat, drink, sit still, hold a conversation.
I wept with relief when I realised they were taking me seriously on Sunday.

Feel better today, took a cyclizine this morning at 7 then slept on a bit to give it chance to kick in.

I don't feel sick but I'm starving, and it's making me lightheaded.

I could only manage a bit of toast and couldn't stomach anymore. I have a strange craving for Smash Confused

I'm nowhere near 100%, but I'm a different person compared to Saturday/Sunday.

This really makes you value and be grateful for being healthy the rest of the time.

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 18/10/2016 12:01

Just been trying to catch up on the thread after a really rough day yesterday. Myself and Billy (the bucket) and Tilly (the toilet) have become very well acquainted again. I can't believe how sick I'm being despite all of my tablets.

I also now have a cracking headache, which I suspect is due to dehydration.
Thanks to everyone for fluid suggestions, I'll try a few out later (husband is going to collect a selection for me after work).

lucinda thank you for the tinned fruit suggestion, I will certainly give that a try. Billy has been well used this past couple of days. God bless that bucket.

blondes sorry to hear you had return of he rode, sounds horrendous!

boobs I'm glad to hear that the cyclazine is doing something for you. It's hard when it only takes the edge off though isn't it and you still fee rough. Feeling for you.

LH thank you for all of the advice, glad to hear that the ondansetron is working. I think I might try and push my GP for some if I ever get an appointment.

four congratulations! Lovely to hear of a good scan. I have joined you in a celebratory vomit!

purple Sorry you are feeling so poorly. As everyone else here has already said- GP should definitely be your next step. Get some medication on board.

Been enjoying the dildo cam conversations. Made me giggle.

Thank you also to whoever suggested the ice cold drinks? My brain went to mush mid post- and I can't remember who it was. But brilliant advice. It's slow going, but I am getting the odd sip in.

Xx

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 18/10/2016 12:04

mother I forgot to thank you for all of your brilliant advice! Thank you so much, you always give such thoughtful responses. Greatly appreciated. I will be trying the tinned fruit this evening.

Our EPU doesn't work in that way sadly. So I would have to go to A&E for fluids again. They did say perhaps I could go to surgical admissions next time, but it was closed on the day I was admitted. Xxx
