I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

peace poor you... like MoP said I hope you've got someone else to help you?

Nothing changes here. Eat, sleep, retch repeat. Was hopeful for a good day as I wasn't sick this morning. Not so much retching today thank goodness but very nauseous. Find that hard because I don't want to eat so feel worse. Ice lollies continue to be my friend :)

peaceloveandbiscuits · 17/11/2016 21:32

Yes DH here tonight and I'm asking him to call in sick tomorrow because I'm fairly certain I'll be struck down shortly.
He wasn't home from work when DS was sick earlier, so I was solo mopping up and heaving while DS (23m) pointed out all the peas to me Envy
He has just cleared up the second lot while I sorted DS though. He is an angel for cleaning up sick, especially mine!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/11/2016 21:42

LightTripper · 18/11/2016 06:20

And sorry you are having a tough time peace. Hope everyone is recovered soon.

babyand · 18/11/2016 07:37

Someone please tell me I can get through today :( 9 weeks today and I feel i have peaked :(

WoopWoop200 · 18/11/2016 08:12

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice everyone.
Sorry to those also suffering. I hope things get better for you. The meds seem to work on somedays and not on others. Im waiting for the GP to ring me back to sort something out.
Hang in there babyand you can definitely get through this. Tuck yourself up in bed with a movie and a bowl if need be. Ice lollies have turned out to be the holy grail of life right now, maybe give them a try xxx

babyand · 18/11/2016 08:25

Thanks woop I would love to but have a 15 month old myself and looking after my sisters 16 month old all day.
I agree with you on the meds working one day and not the next! I wonder are they working as well but just symptoms are much stronger that day

Sneezypeasy · 18/11/2016 11:31

babyand sorry you are having such a tough day. 15 and 16 month olds are a difficult age to look after, especially when you are ill. You may have to let them watch more tv than you would normally, though at that age they may not have attention span?

I found a blog called adventures of Adam by a woman who had HG and she has suggestions for easy ways to entertain children when you are ill, if you can bring yourself to browse there may be some simple ideas on there to keep them entertained?

adventuresofadam.co.uk/ultimate-hg-friendly-play-activities/

I hope you manage to get through the day.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/11/2016 12:40

Goodness, I remember 16 months as especially challenging, let alone with HG. CBeebies all the way, babyand

LucindaE · 18/11/2016 14:17

fourcorneredcircle and WhoopWhoop I am so glad that the ice lollies are helping, anyway. They are invaluable to so many people.
Blondes Lol about the star jumps to get baby to move - you do indeed have a good pelvic floor!
babyand My goodness, two that age is an exhuasting workload when feeling OK.
Sneezypeasy That's a really good link.
peachlove So sorry to hear that your LO didn't escape. How are things now?
Waves to everyone. Back soon.

peacelove Why am I calling you 'peachlove'? It must be to do with all my recommendations for tinned peaches!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/11/2016 14:34

That'll be my next name change, Lucinda Smile

LucindaE · 18/11/2016 18:03

peacelove Lol! How is LO and how are you? babyand How are things with the two miniature menaces? I keep forgetting that melon has been strongly recommended, and as one gets little enough vitamin c on the Hyperemesis Generally Junk Food Diet, it is - dare I suggest it - worth a try. I encountered a woman on another website who put it into a food processor, and then froze it in cubes, and swore by it as a way of keeping hydrated.
I hope the fact that it is quiet on here is a good and not a bad sign...

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/11/2016 19:06

Good bladder control here 😬 Rem I can't pee on demand so yes my claim to fame is starjumps at 20w and no pissing myself

MotherofPearl · 18/11/2016 21:12

Blondes, that's a cheeky baby you have there, hiding at scan time! Hopefully they'll be able to get a good look next time. Good work on the bladder control too!
Peace, how is your DS now? Hope the virus has run its course now, and that your DH was able to help you out today.
Babyand, how did you survive the day with 2 toddlers? That's exhausting enough without HG, let alone with it. At 9 weeks you're really in the worst of it I'm afraid, but you won't feel this awful all the way through.
Four, glad the ice lollies are still working for you! They are a godsend. My favourite were White's Lemonade Lollies.
Woop, did you manage to speak to your GP? I hope you have new meds to try.
Waves to all!

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/11/2016 21:26

He's still not well, poor sausage. Thank you for asking after him. I haven't been sick for two days, though!

fourcorneredcircle · 18/11/2016 22:05

Feeling really mopey today.

I missed a masssive school event yesterday that I look forward to every year and always take part in. Seeing everyone's FB photos today has made me feel down. It's the second big school event I've missed and I'm realising that I'll miss a load more in the run up to Christmas.

I was really hoping to be back in December for things like Christmas concert, Carol concert, whole school Christmas meal, trips, Christmas do, secret Santa etc. but it's seeming less and less likely every day as I think I actually feel worse more often now than I did a month ago.

This is my favourite time of year normally and it's definitely my favourite half term and always has been. January onwards is just a long, slow, stressful slide towards exam season.

DH is being as lovely as he can but I'm lonely and bored when I'm awake and he's at work for 12 hour shifts. Can't wait for 12 week scan so I can at least tell people what's wrong and that I'd love visitors and company (as long as they can cope with the smell of me of course) occasionally.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/11/2016 23:22

four, bless you, how long will you be off/signed off, or till you feel better

lollies, i found rowntree fruit pastells amazing, somedays that all i could manage to have, esp when so hot in aug and was 6w preg and sooooooooooooo sick

melon was also nice tho didnt like it cold, so would need to be chopped up and left an hour or so at room temp

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 18/11/2016 23:44

Hello everyone.

I lost the thread again, and could find it when searching. Sorry for going missing for so long. It's been a rough few weeks one way or another.

Hypremesis wise I was stabling out quite nicely on the cocktail of tablets, and even had a week where I felt so much brighter that I reduced my dose. That turned out to be a MASSIVE mistake, then was back to square one. So apparently I still need them. Lesson learnt.

Then my poor (13mo) DD and DH got norovirus so it was my turn to provide buckets and water. Not a pleasant time.

Then I was found to have a nasty infection and had to go to hospital for supervised antibiotics as they were worried about potential reactions... all fun and games here.

On a positive note I had my 12 week scan, which showed a healthy wriggly little baby who looks well. So that cheered me up a lot- although I was so exhausted by the outing that I slept all afternoon!

I have a week on call at work coming up and I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to manage it. It's 24hrs a day for 7 days on top of the day job. And you always get called in at night. Feeling sick just thinking about it.

Sorry to see so many new faces here, I hope finding the group is helping at least. It's made a huge difference for me.

Waves and grins enthusiastically to blondes, MoP, lucinda, peace, light, castle, LH and everyone else who helped me lots hay I have forgotten. How are we all? Xxx

Sneezypeasy · 19/11/2016 07:12

Aaah! Just took my tablets and threw then straight back up again!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/11/2016 10:11

SHIRLEY. Nice to have to back tho sounds like you have had a rough time recently. Def don't lower dose. I have done a few times and back to being sick

Highest dose and 20w now and tho had rough 3days last thur fri sat - since last sat I've bee sick free - tho no gloating or I shall no doubt be sick again

to try and give you all hope. I started to feel a bit better at 14/15w and sick once a day in evening and now at 20w generally feel ok most days tho still nauseous but after 5mths you get used to it - but I know I won't be sick

Hang in there 💐💐💐💐

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/11/2016 10:13

Sneezy try and take am tablet in middle of night. I take mine 3/4am when I wake for a wee. Assume you don't sleep 10/7 and bladder wakes you?

It really helps as then dose in you when you wake up iyswim

Picksie012 · 19/11/2016 10:27

Hi all. I am not sure if this is the right page , but i would really like some advice please .

I am 16 days late and i took n test but was negative . When is the right time to take a test agine, because i have reaaly bad morning sickness and i am so moody that me and my man is arguing a lot . And the smell of eggs make me want to throw up . Please give me some advis . Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/11/2016 11:11

I would take a test again and if need be then blood test which will give you/gp a hormone reading - if 16days later possibly 6w preg tho unusual for tests to say negative if preg

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 19/11/2016 11:26

Thank you blondes, lesson with medication well and truly learnt!
My GP keeps encouraging me to try and come off them as 'it's better for baby not benne taking lots of tablets'.... a very annoying attitude especially as my obs consultant doesn't agree. She says we under medicate pregnant women and make things harder on their bodies than we should. Still at least I can tell him I tried.

sneezy I ended up needing to have antiemetic via IV or IM injection to settle me enough to have tablets. Then I had something in my system to allow me to take them. Helped to get me out of the worst bit.
Since then on bad days I'm having tinned peaches ice cold from the fridge and can take tablets in the juice of that on a spoon... might be worth a go Flowers
