I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Aaaargghh Hg can really just fuck off today!! I managed to go to work for a few hours yesterday for the first time in weeks, came back exhausted with pounding headache knowing the HG would punish me... Can't eat but know I have to or it'll get worse, just managed to haul my ass to the kitchen to find breakfast, then had to run to bathroom to throw up all the NOTHING I had eaten yesterday!! Not fair!! Damned if I do or dont!! 15w and SO OVER THIS, hate feeling like an invalid 😩😠😡

LHReturns · 10/11/2016 09:11

Peace good luck and let us know. As blondes says - no prizes for extra suffering here. And remember it takes a few days for the benefits to kick in consistently. Thinking of you .

LHReturns · 10/11/2016 09:11

Oh south public vomiting is such a lonely experience. I'm sorry. I hope people were nice to you.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 10/11/2016 09:13

Oh I know there's no medals, trust me! It's been a combination of randomly feeling better (wasn't sick for two days! Just retching!) and not being able to get off the sofa.

The receptionist asked if the sickness was pregnancy-related Hmm unless I've had norovirus for six weeks, yes, it is.

LHReturns · 10/11/2016 09:15

Those of you due second week in June - you are at THE SHIT stage...thinking of you and wishing the time away.

Herewego at 15 weeks that is absolutely hideous. I'm so sorry. I agree that there is no way to win against HG - time is the only defence.

LHReturns · 10/11/2016 09:16

Completely understand peace. Flowers

peaceloveandbiscuits · 10/11/2016 09:18

Haven't been able to keep my regular meds down for three days, so not sure if I'm feeling rotten because of that or because of dehydration/general sickness.

babyand · 10/11/2016 09:42

Morning girls I'm not sure the stemetil are doing anything. :( they seem to be giving me a heartburn feeling on top of the nausea :( iv just read that someone said those in the second week in June are in the worst stage....in the third/fourth week..... this is gonna get worse??????

fourcorneredcircle · 10/11/2016 10:36

Sounds like lots of us are having bad days :(

Woken up by the police bashing a door in down the road at 5 AM (not normally that sort of area!) and, as I have discovered whenever I am woken rather than wake naturally this morning has been awful. Vomited twice by six, then had a respite of 30 mins or so when I forced some cyclazine down. Been sick again since but don't want to take more drugs yet in case that other dose made it. Week nine is kicking my ass.

LightTripper · 10/11/2016 10:38

How long have you been sick babyand/how pregnant are you (sorry, I'm terrible at working out the dates for myself let alone other people!)? I found mine ramped up to its worst level pretty quickly (within a couple of weeks). And then plateaued there for what felt like forever but was probably another 2-3 weeks, before starting to feel slightly better (I think mainly because the exhaustion lifted a bit). So if you're early on it's definitely worth investigating in exploring drugs now.

Why not make another GP appointment? If the Stemetil starts to work before you get to the appointment you can always cancel it, but it sounds like you may need to try something else.

If you want to get an idea of the different drugs that are available before you go, the pregnancy sickness support website is good. And if you're worried you might be fobbed off I always tended to go with a copy of the NICE guidelines:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

and a copy of the RCOG guide (which is really up to date - from June this year):
www.rcog.org.uk/globalassets/documents/guidelines/green-top-guidelines/gtg69-hyperemesis.pdf

Not that I ever actually needed to use them, but I just felt it would give me more confidence if the GP was hesitant to show that this is official policy that they should help you if it is interfering with living your life, and that there are safe things to take.

babyand · 10/11/2016 10:56

Lighttripper I am only 7+6 by lmp so I have a feeling the worst is yet to come but to be honest I was very very ill with dd and felt at the level I am now at my very worst! I think I'm goning to try get to my gp tomorrow and see if she will change meds. I live in Ireland and the gps are so slow to prescribe anything

peaceloveandbiscuits · 10/11/2016 10:58

No ketones in my urine, amazingly! Have been prescribed some cyclezine, just need to keep them down now!

The only way is up!

Southlondon321 · 10/11/2016 11:16

Morning baby, once it's under control (a bit) it makes the world of difference and although within 15 mins of my 'I will and can cope' post I was vomiting in a bus stop bin! So you still aren't your normal self but you won't always been in the utter deep despair either. Really hope you are ok though. Get to docs and keep going until they get it right with medicine.

Southlondon321 · 10/11/2016 11:21

Yay peace ... impressed!

Southlondon321 · 10/11/2016 11:21

With ketones

user1477229112 · 10/11/2016 12:02

I'm almost 14 weeks and I am
Still suffering please as this is my second hg pregnancy with ondansetron I just feel like collapsing in a heap trying to keep working I've just load everything I ate and drank today! So sorry for the rant ladies but why is the magic number of 12 weeks not given me any respite !!

Southlondon321 · 10/11/2016 12:29

The same people who tell you it will be over by 12 weeks are the same people who say ginger is some miracle cure combined with ridiculous wristbands!

It is just so awful for you and it's been such a long time, I'm sending lots of healing thoughts. it feels so unfair that it has to be accepted as a fact of life and no one really even tries to understand what you are going through... apart from your fabulous internet pals! Really hope you can bank a couple of good days to perk you up

peaceloveandbiscuits · 10/11/2016 13:43

Fuck off with your wristbands and ginger.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 10/11/2016 13:44

And "eat little and often" Angry

Southlondon321 · 10/11/2016 14:10

'A little bit of morning sickness is really normal' and 'see how you feel at the end of the week' .... my reaction was 'I might vom on you!'

LightTripper · 10/11/2016 14:14

Yes I was a bit depressed to see wristbands and ginger are in the NICE advice, even though the same guidelines go on to point out there isn't really any evidence for them. Confused

Eat little and often I did find helpful, but I hate the suggestion it is "the answer" (as opposed to just a baseline necessity if you're in medium sickness, and totally impossible however nice the idea if you are constantly throwing up).

CastleFeck · 10/11/2016 15:02

Welcome to the new sufferers sorry you have to be on this thread, but I know it will offer you great advice and support.

Hoping the poo babies are delivered today with as little trauma as possible (Lh mental image of you balancing on the toilet seat is v amusing!)

I've been trying to reduce the metochlopromide, but I still need 2 a day otherwise I feel crap again.

LucindaE · 10/11/2016 18:32

herewegoagain That sounds dismal. Remind me what meds you are on. I hope ketones are staying down? What liquids can you stand?
SouthLondon Much sympathy over the bus stop puke. Not kind of fate, when all you were trying to do earlier was encourage others.
Blondes I know, about the worry if not feeling awful: it's not fair!
SouthLondon Did your GP say those annoying things, or insensitive people?
user1477 Sadly, this does last a little longer than MS and from what I've heard, fourteen weeks is more typical for that than twelve. Numbers of people get relief round fifteen or sixteen weeks. Don't despair. It is very hard.

peacelove I am glad you've got meds. I hope they work well for you. If not, don't hesitate to go back and ask for others, says bossy Mother Hen.
babyand If they aren't working, do please do as I say not as I did, and ask for others. Sorry to hear that its hard to get meds in Ireland.
fourcorneredcircle Sorry to hear of dramatic waking and vomits. How are you now? Perhaps it was really what Mother of Pearl calls the 'ginger hit squad'! Wink
castlefeck I'll join you in that wish! Lactalose has definitely been recommended by some on this thread.
TwoDrifters I do hope you escape it if you go for it again.
LightTripper Very good advice. How are things? You are so good at supporting people while suffering, even if not as badly as before.
Apologies, as ever, to those rudely ignored.
