I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Mrs M we are all different severities and yours sounds severe to me. Especially as untreated. I'm on cyclizine and it's controlling it. Last sick on Tuesday (it's not perfect!!). You might feel a bit tired on it. Someone here suggested taking it every 9 hoursish but basically before bed, when you wake up and before Lunchish. You are within your rights to see a doc so maybe call up again but don't talk to the receptionist just so you can have peace of mind. Also check your packet does say 3 times a day. Also
Feel free to complain about your surgery and the receptionist.

Let us know your due date and you can be in our club! It's not the club anyone wants to join but it's here!!

MrsM2016 · 04/11/2016 15:02

Thanks blondeshavemorefun... I think I was worried that my level of severity did not warrant the meds. I suppose everyone is different and it's all relative. the receptionist said to me "I was sick all the way through my pregnancy too, I would wake up throw up and then be fine" I wasn't really sure what to say to that.... HA. Might try with one tablet a day every morning and judge how that goes. It was so embarrassing the day before last, the train got delayed for me as I was chucking up. Everyone was so sweet, but I was mortified! I've often done the walk of shame to the office where I have sick on my shoes and tights ha. When it's triggered nose bleeds, I feel like something from a horror film! HA.

Ah hello Allaboutthecake13. Thanks so much for directing me here. Everyone has been really helpful. I felt a bit blind about what I was doing with regards to these meds which I finally have been given. And then receptionist really made me doubt if I should have them or not.

X

So I've been sat catching up on this thread genuinely LOL, much to my husband's confusion. I explained I was laughing at being deemed a 'cowbag' for having the soonest DD, he didn't get it at all until I said 'these women like being pregnant as much as I do'. Ding ding ding.

I have the worst migraine today, have had a few since I stopped the Ondansetron. As a result I can't remember who wrote what. Gah. So here's some vague replies to people (sorry)...

Fellow cat puker - there's no such thing as TMI when you've been sick for 30 weeks straight, I worked out the average was about 50 times a day, so that's 10,500 times. I no longer have any shame. Or body fat. And yes, I was genuinely sick ON the cat.

Person with the lovely Mum, she sounds great, I wish mine was near by 😕

Ondansetron science experimenter, been there when I was trying to skip doses. It's horrendous. I do agree on the bright side of actually needing the loo. I've been off it for a week now & still haven't gotten used to it.

Lucinda - I (just about!) kept it down. No results yet though. I swear, I think I'm just the worst person at being pregnant.

Hello to everyone! 👋🏻

5 weeks, 6 days to go! 🎉🎉🎉

peaceloveandbiscuits · 04/11/2016 17:19

This is the worst club to be a member of Envy

Southlondon321 · 04/11/2016 17:49

Hopefully karma will give us something good.

Lucy.... I cannot believe how much you have been sick! It's unbelievable. So many people have not got the first clue about pregnancy sickness. Let alone HG.

Mum was saying she was really sick with us (3 kids) but she had a pain free labour. That was before safe medication for sickness. So whether she is insane or not we can hope for that!

LucindaE · 04/11/2016 18:14

MrsM2016 Welcome. Sorry I missed your drama, but you had great advice from the sufferers here. If you had high ketones at your last appointment, it is certainly bad enough to need medication, besides your awful nosebleeds and the fact that it's making you dread going out. Being in a Public Puking situation is awful, and to have to endure it every day. I too am furious Angry with that interfering receptionist. She has no right to try and diagnose at all, let alone be offensive on the basis of her own experience How are liquids staying down? Do invest in some kesostix just in case you take a turn for the worse, though hopefully the cylizine will help a lot. As others say, if it doesn't, don't hesitate to go back.
Lucy As with LRReturns Tell me that was fifty heaves, not fifty separate vomiting sessions a day. I am glad so glad you made it through the test.
Allaboutthecake How are things?
LightTripper and others - great advice.
peachloveandbiscuits How did GP appointment go? I don't blame you for not wanting to kiss.
SouthLondon Annoying glowing people. Sorry about loss of £100. I remember because I had had a miscarriage, the GP forbade swimming which I'd just paid for.Dehydration he didn't care about, but swimming he did!
happydays00 Oh no, I can't read my writing for what I wrote to you. This is happening too often.
Castlefeck I am so glad the scan went well. It does give a lift.
Mimosa1 Quite a lot of people find buccastem very helpful.
Blondes Lol, you always give a laugh. Is Bob the Bucket a blue bucket?
MotherofPearl I had to laugh at your citrus smelling salts!
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked. Watch me cross post.

Sorry for radio silence today. Bit of drama about DP getting back from his work trip, flights cancelled, me trying to book flights online for him, blah blah. All being well he'll be home tomorrow morning!
Just wanted to welcome MrsM. Everyone has already given great advice so all I wanted to add was please stick around on here. Chatting to fellow sufferers really helps ease the isolation and misery of this condition. Plenty of support here, and uncensored discussion of all the gory details (sounds like a tempting club, right?).
Hope everyone else has a restful evening with as few voms as poss. Another week done!

LucyHMK · 04/11/2016 18:53

South - let's hope she's right, eh! I'm having a c section now so I shall never know 👍🏻

Lucinda - if only I meant that. Feels like a bad dream now though. I'm not sure how I managed to cope to be honest.

Hope everyone has a nice (or at least manageable) evening.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 04/11/2016 19:11

No doctors today for me, will attempt next week.

MrsM2016 · 04/11/2016 19:57

Hi lighttripper and southlondon so sorry I missed your posts earlier. Thank you so much for your advice.

Thanks so much to all you ladies for all your kindness, I finally feel understood and not like I am not being a drama queen ha-ha!

I am due on 5th February :) what about all of you? X

Allaboutthecake13 · 04/11/2016 21:37

MrsM you are definitely not being a drama queen. This sickness can be so isolating that it is easy to start to think that it's not as bad as you feel and that's not helped by the myriad people claiming that they had it and were fine after a ginger biscuit! I've found this thread and the PSS website a huge support in just acknowledging that the levels of sickness I'm encountering are enough to warrant medical attention and/or time off work etc. I'm due April 12 so a couple of months behind you.

Peace hope you can get to the GP Monday.

South I very much hope the easy labour thing is true!

Motherofpearl hope plans all sorted with DH travel now.

Hope everyone else has had Vom free evenings.

I've had no sickness since yesterday morning which I am thrilled about, after a particularly bad spell. Heartburn is now back with a vengeance - I know ladies here have recommended a prescribed drug before but I have asked GP twice now for something stronger than gaviscon and he won't prescribe - he said gaviscon is the best thing and that it will only get worse so I need to learn to cope with it. Problem is, I can literally feel and taste acid reflux in my throat (sometimes in my mouth) which triggers gag reflex. Have taken to swigging gaviscon, eating rennies and doing some sort of strange panting to try and hold off any sickness but any tips appreciated!

LucindaE · 04/11/2016 21:41

MrsM2016 Here's the new list.

Due Dates
Lucy 15 December
MrsM2016 5 February
Light 3 March
Blondes 30 March
NerrSnerr 18 April
Castlefeck 19 April
LHReturns 1 June
Boobs 6 June
Peacelove 9 June
Fourcorneredcircle 11 June
South London 15 June

Lucy Fifty separate vomiting sessions a day - I am horrified. Did they keep you in hospital for weeks?
peaceloveandbiscuits I so hope they can give you something that helps when you do see the GP's.
Fourcorneredcircle Sorry, you mentioned pain in the stomach muscles from strain of heaving, poor you. An old fashioned hot water bottle or one of those things you can heat up in a microwave can help.
MotherofPearl I hope the flight problems are solved.

Allaboutthecake Cross posted - Zantac has been used by women on here and can be bought over the counter, I think. My GP told me that, and its just not true!

OP posts:
LucindaE · 04/11/2016 21:44

Allaboutthecake I mean, my GP told me you can only have gaviscon, and it's certainly not true.

OP posts:
Allaboutthecake13 · 04/11/2016 21:49

Thank you Lucinda - as always! I actually tried to buy some at boots the other week (in a fit of desperation) and the pharmacist wouldn't sell it to me as I had my baby on board badge on! I will engage DH in a covert mission.

I tried to explain to the GP that I can feel the gaviscon just sitting on top of the acid in my throat and he told me that it didn't work like that! I did almost ask him when he was last pregnant but then my manners kicked in and I apologised for wasting his time Blush

NerrSnerr · 04/11/2016 21:53

Allabout i have been prescribed ranitidine in both pregnancies, I'm on it at the moment.

Southlondon321 · 04/11/2016 22:25

I'm using rennies now as gone off gaviscon.

Can't believe I'm still last!!!

happydays00 · 05/11/2016 02:04

I have been prescribed omeprozole for acid and this has really helped!

LHReturns · 05/11/2016 10:07

I've realised that I am not going to be satisfied until my due date appears LESS than half way down the list. Currently I am very much in the bottom half. All you above me are COW BAGS. I may go out and start recruiting some new posters who are less pregnant than me.

Glorious Saturday morning. No nanny and travelling husband. I overslept meaning DS (2.5) was left in his cot until 8.43am. He didn't make a peep (HG guilt...).

Got him up and dressed; and then not one of our four dogs had had an accident in the kitchen. They were waiting patiently and confused with crossed paws (more HG guilt).

Got them all outside for a walk (central London so no garden). Got about 100 yards down the street, saw a giant soft dog poo and started retching while DS and four dogs watching me with pity.

It's all just beautiful here.

But I am 10+2 today so things must take a turn soon.

Cake what is your due date? When I am lying in bed it is usually the taste of acid bile in my mouth that wakes me and starts me off. So awful. So sorry you have the same.

"...but then my manners kicked in and I apologised for wasting his time". Aaaaagh Hyperemesis Gravidarum: A Truly British Story. I love it and am just the same. When I attend an appointment I feel the need to dismiss it "oh you must see this all the time, no big deal". When truly I could not give a FUCK whether they see this all the time - mine is much much worse.

LucyHMK · 05/11/2016 10:16

LHReturns - and it's only 10am! It's weird the things that get you gagging. Not always what you'd think. Quit with all the guilt over there, it's not like you've chosen HG!

Allaboutthecake - I have omeprozole, however the tablets are HUGE & I can't keep them down.

Lucinda - in & out of hospital but not once admitted. I live down the road & the heat in the ward was making it worse for me. They let me home as it's a 5 min drive.

LucindaE · 05/11/2016 11:55

happydays Sorry to have lost my old due dates list - I don' t know how I did that. I know you and Raeskywalker are at the top.
LRReturns Soon new sufferers will replace you. That sounds awful about dogs and dog mess.
Allaboutthecake and everyone, you are all too stoic about suffering! Think how much fuss a man would make after just two or three days..
Lucy It's amazing they let you go home as I hate to think what your ketones have so often been, with vomiting as freqeuent as that! Lucky that your hospital is so near, at least.
Nerrsnerr I have heard that is a really good anti acid.
Apologies if I've rudely overlooked anyone.

OP posts:
LucindaE · 05/11/2016 11:58

cake That does sound sickening, and I do hope OH manages to get the meds from the chemists or supermarket. I've just remembered - I'm sure it was Gaviscon that made me vomit up a whole bowl full of strange foam - quite spectacular.

OP posts:
peaceloveandbiscuits · 05/11/2016 12:00

Lucozade and Starburst are helping me today.

MotherofPearl · 05/11/2016 12:04

LH, what a ghastly morning you've had. As Lucy says, it's strange what can trigger retching. Dog poo is disgusting so that doesn't seem strange, but in my first HG pregnancy I was once violently sick in the kitchen sink after catching a glimpse of a bottle of olive oil. Confused
I think Rae and Fresh head up the due dates list, then Happy. Don't worry those at the bottom, soon new people will join the club and you'll be pushed upwards into mid-table positions.
DP finally home, so relieved.

Bloopbleep · 05/11/2016 12:22

Hello all! Still no luck with GP so hoping I get my consultant appointment soon. I'm not drinking as much as I should as water bounces right back out and I'm suddenly going off tea (decaf and normal), diluting orange and fresh orange burn more on the way back out. I'll be six weeks tomorrow. That means only three weeks to the hallowed 9weeks when I can possibly take something for this. Struggling to hide it from people and given history of mc I'm not wanting to broadcast too early.
