Sorry Carrick and Tinklypoo for the breathlessness... Hope it passes soon! And mcbaby that's a lot of sick! Are you managing to keep food down at all? Hope it gets better soon! And good luck for the scan.

10 weeks today or tomorrow for me.. Depending on which scan I go with! My belly is definitely starting to stick out already! My clothes still fit but I just feel bloated and can't hold it in anymore!

Tinkly that's so exciting you're getting things ready for the hospital! How long do you have left?

and welcome something... I had spotting from 5-8 weeks all the time. Once it was bright red and everything was completely fin on my last scan. It's so common so fingers x everything will be perfect for you!

Whatsername17 · 21/09/2016 18:18

Love the car seat it looks fab! I've gone a little crazy for avocado and balsamic dressing. So far I seem to be craving healthy things - the exception being salt and vinegar crisps!

Tinkly the car seat looks great!

I wouldn't worry about being ready too far in advance, with DS we got most things by 25 weeks as we saw deals but in hindsight it was good as I was admitted to hospital with sepsis at 32 weeks. They wanted to keep me in until I gave birth but managed to get out & get everything ready before being induced at 37 weeks.
So I highly recommend being ready early then you can put your feet up & watch all the box sets haha.

Welcome something & I hope the spotting leads to nothing for you. It is common.

Good news that you like midwife Bec, I love mine & can't wait for her tuts over my consultant tomorrow haha.

I did my baby group after a 2 week break & was absolutely shattered plus DS with his cold was miserable so I really struggled. Think I'm going to have to end it sooner than christmas.

Have midwife then scan at hospital tomorrow so busy day.

It's also the Aldi baby event tomorrow & I highly recommend their boxes of wipes & nappies.
They have a nice oil cloth changing bag that OH won't let me buy as we have one.

Hope everyone has a good evening. Bake off then bed for me.

FlourishingMrs · 21/09/2016 20:49

Well done everyone on staying positive despite some challenges. Well done XXBec on your positive booking appointment.

31 one weeks and good growth scan despite the single artery, please keep smiling

somethingfromnothing · 21/09/2016 21:19

Wow love the car seat! Thanks for all the comments about the spotting, I may actually phone to book my 8 week appointment tomorrow!

I've completely went off sweet foods, which is so unlike me. Spent ages in supermarket earlier and left with nothing as I just don't know what I want to eat.

Naschkatze · 21/09/2016 21:27

Can anyone reassure me...
Last night and tonight I've had two small portions of shop bought coleslaw. Something a pregnant friend said made me wonder if I shouldn't have done and now I've googled and read stuff about avoiding packaged salads etc due to risk of Listeria infection. It can't be that bad can it?! I thought I'd got to grips with what I shouldn't be eating by now ConfusedSad

DoubleCarrick · 21/09/2016 21:55

It's meant with love, tinkly Flowers

I love the car seat, it looks amazing!

Starting to consider a home birth. I think I'll be so much more relaxed than in hospital, and I'm only five minutes away from the hospital anyway.

Apparently you still need a 'bag' of sorts anyway. I might start thinking about that when I get to about 30 weeks.

I'm just buying things as and when I see them on sale. Nothing is really planned, just if something is a bargain it gets bought. No storage yet though as I'm still waiting for DH to build the wardrobes and drawers he's actually building them so I'm going to have to wait a while. Everything is currently just being dumped in the loft.

Today was pretty scary, one of the kids I teach was scarily violent. He was slammed doors, screaming, throwing things, etc. He's about twice the size of me. I left shaking and crying. Seriously considering not going back there as the kids aggression was only matched by his Dad's aggression back. DH, for once, is trying to tell me what to do and is quite convinced that I shouldn't go back

DoubleCarrick · 21/09/2016 21:58

nasch I would say just eat a little what you fancy and weigh out the risks. Don't purposefully put yourself at risk eating something dangerous but what are the genuine risks of catching anything from salad? The risk exists (they had a scare in the supermarkets about a month ago and some people got very sick) but what is the true risk? I'd say don't worry about it but avoid it if it'll make you overly worried

Whatsername17 · 21/09/2016 22:06

The coleslaw thing only applies to homemade coleslaw because of the whole 'don't eat runny eggs' thing. As lion eggs now come from vaccinated chickens and are safe for us preggos to eat I wouldn't worry at all. I have eaten coleslaw. I accidentally ate quiche with goats cheese yesterday. It was cooked though so I think it's fine.

Whatsername17 · 21/09/2016 22:07

I've eaten packaged salads too. NHS offer no guidance about salads. It's fine.

Naschkatze · 22/09/2016 06:26

Thanks Whatser and Double.

Feeling a bit irrational at the moment! I think its down to exhaustion!

jpeg28 · 22/09/2016 06:57

I've had shop bought coleslaw and quiche (cooked) etc... I agree just follow nhs but also have a teeny bit of what you fancy.

Remember when I asked if I should go to my friend who was sick? Well I didn't go and turns out she had an E Coli infection that she probably got from packaged courgetti! So make sure you either don't buy it or wash it! Really scary for her, thank goodness I didn't go round!

Blimey Carrick that does sound scary! Flying furniture and pregnancy not one of my favourite combos!

Naschkatze I really wouldn't worry about coleslaw, providing it was in date, stored properly and hadn't been left open for too long. The whole listeria thing was about bags of leaves which had been pretty washed and consequently break down really quickly. Long as it's fresh and you make sure things are well washed you'll be fine.

Couple of questions for you lovely ladies - did your hospital give you some idea of your risk for downs after the nuchal scan, i.e. on the day? Or did you have to wait for a letter or call up a few days later to find out? Family member had a TFMR quite recently, and it's playing on my mind!

Also, does anyone know if I am likely to be able to be treated as a low risk birth if I'm on clexane and seen as high risk ATM (only 8w+3 now)? Ive got to take it up to 6 weeks after birth, pausing only if I think I'm in labour. Low risk birth means I could go in the nice midwife led unit with birthing pools and the like - didn't get to do that last time as was induced, and much prefer the idea to the more clinical setting.

Hope those who have been feeling poorly feel a bit better today x

purpleviolet1 · 22/09/2016 12:35

Hope everyone is doing ok, especially carrick with the breathlessness

I had a bleed on Sunday, bright red and lasted a few hours. Went to triage and scan showed heartbeat but baby wasn't moving much. Had my 12 week dating scan on Tuesday though and things look ok. They moved me forward a couple of days so all being well I'm 12+6 today. Really anxious about this bleeding though, hence my lack of posts. Not had any fresh red since, but had a bit of brown.

Next appt with obstetrician is on Wednesday and I'm hoping he will scan me again.

Netcurtainrummager · 22/09/2016 14:41

What a worry for you purple, but glad to hear you're getting the proper attention and have had a positive scan. Hoping the days until you next appointment go quickly and are drama free for you.

theAntsareMyFriends · 22/09/2016 14:46

purple that sounds terrifying. I'm glad everything is OK and well done for reaching the 12 week milestone.

net sorry I can't answer any of your questions but just noticed that we are at exactly the same point. I'm also 8+3.

Just wondering if anyone else found that their hair was falling out. Mines been falling out since the beginning and I've been trying to ignore it but looked at my workdesk chair and it looks like Cousin IT. My hair looks thicker than usual so don't know what's going on there but with my DS my hair seemed to stop falling out and any change in symptoms between that pregnancy and this one make me worry a bit.

Whatsername17 · 22/09/2016 15:06

Glad you are being looked after, Purple. Really hopes the worry stops for you soon. Great news about your scan and 13 weeks tomorrow - must be a relief! I hope your consultant scans you to put your mind a rest. Did they find the sorce of the bleeding?

purpleviolet1 · 22/09/2016 15:19

Thanks ladies. Whatser, no they never got to the bottom of it really

XxBecxX · 22/09/2016 18:28

Net, obviously in pg your natural risk of blood clots increase due to several factors, I can't imagine that they will downgrade your care to low with that hanging over you. Have you checked that your labour ward doesn't have the birthing pools as well as the other birthing centre? Mine do, limited though.

Purple you've had such a tough ride so far my poor luv, you probably have an irritable cervix or something, did it coincide after sex or anything else you can remember preceding it?
You've had your 12 weeks scan so you should at the very least know that the odds are stacked in your favour xxxxxx

jpeg28 · 22/09/2016 18:29

Purple how scary for you, I'm so glad everything is ok!

XxBecxX · 22/09/2016 18:31

Oh and too add my hair is all over the house! It's literally EVERYWHERE!!!! But this morning when I dried it, the hubby said it looks 'bigger' than usual lol
It usually looks like less loss during and then nearly balding after pg for me, maybe it's a side affect of the vit D, that's the only different thing I've done this pregnancy that they are now telling everyone to do??

Whatsername17 · 22/09/2016 18:46

Net - I have a clotting issue and previous blood pressure issue in pregnancy. If you are under consultant care you might not be able to go the midwife led route. However, I've been promised if my bp stays stable I can have a water birth at the hospital. My clotty blood is being managed with aspirin and then I have to inject myself after giving birth so I don't think that will affect anything x
