I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hope phone appointment gets prescription sorted for you lt it might be worth asking if they can try anything in addition if only getting an hour of relief from sickness from cyclazine.

lucinda was it a migrane you had? Glad your starting to feel a bit better. Take care of yourself- can't have mother hen down!

sleepy sorry to hear about 4am start- I feel your pain although ds gave me until 5 this morning. Can you nap at all in the day? Hope the day isn't too hot, has been quite pleasant here so can't complain!

rae classes are good for something to do (which was essential for me!) But make sure you focus on things you enjoy rather than things you feel will benefit dd/ds. As a baby they don't 'need' to go although baby massage was useful for windy baby. Baby groups where coffee and time to chat with other mums were ideal! Lots of local cafes/pubs have mums mornings which were great. Will be all about soft play/toddler groups where ds can entertain himself whilst I sit with baby will be more what I'm doing this time!

So glad finished maternity leave and despite not even a card I've decided not to get upset by peoples reactions at work, I'm done and got 9 months with ds to enjoy!

LightTripper · 25/07/2016 15:21

Thanks Lucinda! I think it's working pretty well. I feel can still learn to manage it/time it better.

The one hour thing was yesterday when I took one just before 5 and threw up at 6.30. I always feel they take 30 mins to kick in so that felt short. I think generally it had lasted a bit longer.

Either way I am down to throwing up every other day, and I'm convinced without them it would be at least twice a day.

And I got my prescription! Or rather, it is at the GP waiting for me. Am currently lying under my desk feeling rotten (days like this I feel soooo lucky to have an office!), but in a bit will take a pill and go to the GP to pick up the rest. Think I will reassess when those run out and think about whether I should ask for something else.

LightTripper · 25/07/2016 15:24

P.S. just one DD, age 2 and a bit! And yes, full time nanny. Last one is leaving as she disagrees with our parenting style. Example she gave was that I let my DD help me get dressed in the morning instead of making her go and play by herselfor ( thereby "encouraging her independence")... So there's that. Looking for someone with slightly less rigid ideas this time!

LucindaE · 25/07/2016 17:33

LightTripper Oh dear, even lying under a desk in your own office does not sound nice. Hope you feel better after taking a pill. That does sound a rigid Nanny.
SleepymrsE Goodness, I thought you said you lived in a bungalow! The full horror of the situation has just come to me - head still can't b e working.
What a shock. The terrible resourcefulness of these toddlers.

Urgh Sleepy, waking up to be sick is awful, poor you. It's happened to me more in the heat for some reason.

Glad you're feeling better Lucinda! I like things hyper-organised and have no doubt that the baby will test that part of my personality. I'm going to have to become a lot more laid back.

Light the head is getting there! Film was ric, highly recommended. You have my sympathy with the nanny search- I think that good ones can be very hard to find! Hope you manage to get the prescription sorted- I get incredibly anxious when my medication is running low.

RaeSkywalker · 25/07/2016 17:38

ickle thanks for the class tips! I'm definitely thinking Baby Sensory and DH wants to do Water Babies with it. Will make sure I allow time for coffee! Glad you're finished for mat leave now. Shame about lack of card though Sad

^Light I've just seen your further update and that you got the prescription. My phone won't let me read over pages on here for some reason! So glad you're sorted.

I'm exhausted today and feeling very sorry for myself. I've booked a day off on Friday so I have something to aim for.

LucindaE · 25/07/2016 20:40

icklekid Not even a card?!! I'm indignant on your behalf. That's probably disorganisation, but that is not good. Thanks for sympathy over migraine. Mother Hen is now back in full flapping mode.

OP posts:
icklekid · 26/07/2016 04:04

Thanks lucinda appreciate the sympathy and yes lack of leadership/disorganisation is huge part of issue with school. At least I don't work Friday when they gave other teacher who is leaving (1 year temp contract) present!) Card& gifts etc!

rae well done for booking Friday off- 3 more days will drag so take each slowly...really hoping sickness doesn't get too much worse as you push yourself. As for organisation etc you will get more relaxed but as a similar person I never experienced the it will take hours to leave the house because you have to get everything ready yes there are times poonami came at wrong time but bag was always packed so prettyvmuch ready to go sets self up for fail with 2

lt thats certainly extreme on nanny wanting things done certain way- my 2 uear old is brilliant at being independent and entertaining himself however he also likes to follow me to the toilet and pass me thingswhen I'm getting dressed. If he mever watched how would he ever learn to try and dress/undress himself etc. Hope rest of interviews continue to go well! Glad your feeling sickness is managable that's great!

Well slept through until 4 which is an improvement on last few nights. Forgot to pick up repeat prescription yesterday so didn't take one last night so got one for the morning- was sure I had another 10 blister somewhere but can I find it?!

RaeSkywalker · 26/07/2016 07:12

ickle yes, I suspected that a screaming a bag might be hard to reason with. I'm in for a bit of a culture shock I think! Work are really piling me up with stuff recently (it's coming from above my boss). I think they're trying to get me to say I can't cope so they can make me go off again. I'm just going to have to power through 😁

SleepymrsE · 26/07/2016 08:12

Congrats on finishing yesterday ickle, shame about the lack of card etc although they may be waiting for baby to arrive to do something. That's what tends to happen at my work place. Good luck with DS, I'm lucky in that we are planning on keeping DS at nursery 2 days and my parents 1 day a week throughout my time off. I'm especially looking forward to the rest on those days when I'm on mat leave. Interviewing today for my cover. Felt weird last time and again now, obviously I want someone that can do the job (and won't cause my line manager stress) but don't want someone that people will like more than me - if that makes sense.

Good luck with work rae, sounds like they are working you hard. I must admit I do too much at work and struggle to say no but that's just because of who I am and how I deal with things. Sounds like you are similar, however, we need to remember to look after ourselves and our unborn little ones.

Glad to hear you're feeling much better lucinda, sorry if my tale of DS made you worry. He is ok - just gave us the scare of our lives!

light pleased to hear you have your script, the GP should never have a problem repeating if a consultant has prescribed. If you are still struggling though it might be worth trying a different med?

Right, I better get on with work... Only 24 more working days to go...

LucindaE · 26/07/2016 09:49

Rae That sounds really Machiavellian of work - that's mean. Ha, Ha, is 'screaming a bag' a predictive text error or an expression I have to learn?
icklekid and SleepymrsE Maybe that is it, and they are waiting for baby's arrival. SleepymrsE that sounds very organised. Four o'clock wake ups are no good at all.

OP posts:
LightTripper · 26/07/2016 11:19

Thanks MrsE! It was a consultant nurse, and I'm never quite sure how they are seen (but obviously they have the ability to prescribe so they must be qualified to do it). Anyway my GP seemed fine with it, but as it was a phone consultation it was quite short. She took my word for it that I find them helpful and was happy to prescribe more.

I've got 56 now!!! So that should do me 2-3 weeks. I think I will try to get an in person appointment then and discuss whether something else can do more.

Something I wondered about was Vitamin B6: I've got 10mg in my pregnancy vitamins, but the PSS website says you can take 4 x 10mg a day, so I might try to get some more just of that from the pharmacy at lunchtime (assuming I don't need a prescription for that?)

I'm sorry about the leaving card ickle that sounds very annoying. Are you going back to the same place or moving on?

To be fair to my nanny my DD can be very determined, and probably isn't a great joiner inner. But she does seem to do more joining in when she's out with me and my OH than with nanny, so I'll be interested to see if she is a bit more willing to participate if we can get her a slightly more energetic/free-spirited nanny who will join in herself and have less firm ideas about what she should be doing (I'm sure "free-spirited" will bring its own problems, but there we go - time to try something different I think!)

Hope everybody is doing OK today. xx

RaeSkywalker · 26/07/2016 13:02

Lucinda I think it was predictive text for "screaming baby" Blush

Hope work goes ok Sleepy. I'm surviving- it's been a long morning! I know what you mean about mat leave cover. I'm dreading it- I don't want them to mess up all my hard work, but I don't want them to be so good that they make me look bad 😂

LucindaE · 26/07/2016 21:07

Rae So true! Grin about that piece of predictive text!
LightTripper I never heard you needed a perscription for vitamins, though some pharmacists can be so super careful when you're pregnant...I'm intrigued about 'consultant nurses'; I'd also never heard of them.
Waves to icklekid and everyone. Very quiet on here these last few days. I hope that's a good sign. We haven't heard from Jodders since she was about to be released, I think. I hope she's OK...

Well ladies earlier than normal post because my dd has decided to arrive 5 weeks early! She was born yesterday at 4.15pm after very quick labour which was amazing in contrast to last one! She weighed 5lb16 so not bad and has kept me awake feeding every hour over night but sickness is gone and I thoroughly enjoyed my toast and dinner!

RaeSkywalker · 27/07/2016 06:48

ickle!!! What wonderful news!! I'm so happy for you. Hope that you and your DD are well and you're enjoying eating again! FlowersCakeChocolate

SleepymrsE · 27/07/2016 06:51

Oh my goodness ickle! Huge huge congratulations. What a good weight for 5 weeks early. She obviously waited for you to finish on mat leave. Hope you aren't too sore and that your DD is doing well. Enjoy all your cuddles from your gorgeous girl. Even though we only know each other through MN, I would like to send my love & best wishes X

LucyHMK · 27/07/2016 09:54

Ickle congratulations, fabulous news! What a little bundle you have there & a good job you finished early. Echoing Sleepy & sending more love & best wishes.

Rae thank goodness you're okay! I'd have completely freaked out, so well done on seeming so calm.

Lucinda how's the headache? It's very muggy here as well. I've had a headache for a few days & am prone to migraines too, not fun. Missing ibuprofen!

Light ditto! Had to get some emergency pills this morning & after a 12 hour break I am not feeling so bright either.

Hi to everyone I've missed 😊

SpecialStains · 27/07/2016 10:31

Ickle CONGRATULATIONS! Flowers

That's really lovely news - it's like baby knew you'd just started maternity leave. Good birth weight for a slightly early baby as well! Are you doing ok?

Thanks for letting us know about how good the tea and toast tasted! It's what's keeping me going through these final weeks!

Enjoy eating and drinking (and your lovely little girl!) Chocolate Cake WineBiscuit Brew

LightTripper · 27/07/2016 12:35

Congratulations Ickle, brilliant news!!!

icklekid · 27/07/2016 13:09

Thanks all here is a sneaky pic!
Birth was quick but so different from last time! Feel really empowered however word of warning- being constipated caused quite a blockage which had to be dealt with before she could come out! Apologies for tmi! Will no doubt keep posting on here as will want to see how you ladies are doing and hear all your wonderful news...

Congratulations Grin
5 weeks early! She is adorable! Can't believe the sickness goes just like that.

SleepymrsE · 27/07/2016 13:57

She is gorgeous ickle. Thanks for the warning re: constipation. Also good to hear it was much quicker second time round - this is what I'm hoping for. I am having a slight panic about starting to get stuff ready in case this little one arrives early.

Feeling pretty rubbish today. Very tired, nighttime vom again last night, bit of a sore throat and legs and feet very swollen so working from home this afternoon. Might need to take a nap before picking DS up. Not worrying as nurse took BP this morning as had more blood tests and whooping cough jab.

Hi to everyone else, hope you're feeling brighter than me right now.

Jodders · 27/07/2016 15:52

Hi everyone,

Congratulations Ickle she is gorgeous and a great weight for 5 weeks early.

Sorry I haven't updated. I'm just about getting through each day. I'm 11+1 now, so at least almost at 12 weeks and I can finally tell people why I have disappeared off the face of the earth!

I was switched from stemetil to cariban and given a sort of food plan and the hospital have been great the dietician even phones me to check in. Not been vomiting as much but very nauseous and the meds make me incredibly sleepy. Hope everyone else is coping.
