I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Happy days, HappyDays ! We love the drugs!

Light , Happy , perhaps. I did some Googling (yes, I know) & I think I have pelvic girdle pain. It hurts all around my hips, down to my bottom & crotch/top of thigh joints. The consultant did warn me that he thought pregnancy was about to become very painful for me as I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & already have too much relaxin normally. Don't you just hate it when they're right! Has anyone tried a pelvic bump support?

Off to a fancy wedding this weekend & I'm living on the promise of a glass of bubbly tomorrow (midwife allowed!) - how many sips do you think it'll take for me to feel tiddly?!

LightTripper · 12/08/2016 11:24

Oh probably about 2 Lucy - or maybe just the sight of it will be enough! Hope you have a lovely time. The bump support seems worth a try I would think? Must be a nightmare with EDS. My back always plays up when I'm p/g because of the relaxin, I am bendy but not to that extent!

Happy I haven't tried prochlorperazine, but I know with the pills I am on I found it took a day or two for them to sort of ramp up to full effect, and when I missed one a few days ago it took a good 12-24 hours to get back to where I was.

Locum was brilliant - so lovely. Re-prescribed no problem and also signed my insurance form to see if I can get my flight money back. She put HG on the form given I'm still being sick despite meds, so hopefully that will increase my chances of my insurer covering it. Anyway, we'll see. Although I'm said not to go realistically I wouldn't have seen much of the wedding anyway, so I feel good about it, and really looking forward to going and hanging out with my folks. I didn't ask her about repeat but when my GP is back I will ask I think, given it seems likely I'll be sick for a while if we get good news at the scan next week.

happydays00 · 12/08/2016 12:22

lucy I think even a quick sniff of alcohol and I'd be drunk! Hope you're not too sore, it never rains it only pours hey?

light hopefully start to see an improvement in the next couple of days. My worry is I keep being sick only 20 - 30 minutes after taking the pill, will my body have "absorbed" it by then? I have discovered if I have a mint in one side of my mouth whilst the pill dissolves in the other side the taste is a bit more bearable.

The hot weather has returned here today and I have to say I'm not enjoying it; my body seems to know as soon as it gets remotely humid or warm and I get a double whammy of headache and intensified sickness. Not a good day really.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

LightTripper · 12/08/2016 12:32

I haven't had a dissolving one Happy: I would have thought that if it's dissolving it might be absorbed pretty quickly hopefully? I know when I've thrown up even half an hour after swallowing a pill it's not visible any more, but you never know if it is in the liquid do you? Do you have any time of day that is better than others that you are more likely to keep it down? Doing it together with a mint sounds a good idea to me.

I'm just trying to get through one day at a time until my scan next Wednesday. Currently online Googling Trisomy rates by maternal age constructive. Must get some lunch then do some work!

happydays00 · 12/08/2016 13:25

Thanks light, I have tried this pill mid morning as I tend to get a bit better around lunch. Great news on your success with the locum - what a relief! How many weeks are you for this scan? Will be thinking of you and fingers firmly crossed!

I am achieving absolutely nothing at work today. I'm sure I will regret this procrastination come Monday but for now, sigh. My mind is pre occupied with contemplating when to start mat leave and just how long can I leave it before I need to start making a list / preparing the house for a baby!

If we do start a new due date list - mine is 7th December (just a mere 117 days left, not that I'm counting..)

LightTripper · 12/08/2016 14:43

About 11 or 12 weeks happy: 12 by dates, but only 11 based on my initial reassurance scan. I'm hoping that was inaccurate and I might go back to 12 as both my previous pregnancies with sickness I started throwing up exactly on 7 weeks, and this time too by dates, but not by measurement. Anyway, we'll see! I'm just hoping there's something there this time and that the Downs etc. is all good. A good friend of mine had a Edwards' syndrome diagnosis a couple of years ago which is very bad news (they don't generally make it through pregnancy), so makes me very aware that it really can happen. Still, should have all those results back by the end of the month, so it's not long to wait to know one way or the other.

SleepymrsE · 12/08/2016 19:06

Good news on the meds light, sounds like the locus was understanding. happy I haven't had the dissolving meds either but it was only on my second admittance to hospital that I managed to get the right side of my meds with the help of a drip and intravenous anti sickness drugs. If nothing is helping I would suggest this might be an option.

Thanks for the mention lucinda, yes it feels like I've been on that list forever. Edd 8 October so 8 weeks to go! No news from hospital so I'm assuming I don't have diabetes. Need to wait til Monday to hear about liver function results but I will give them a ring Monday afternoon if I haven't heard anything. Did get a call from GP though to ask for a repeat urine sample mid week as the one I did for midwife has come back from lab borderline with infection again. Least they are keeping an eye on me.

Hope everyone is coping ok in this heat again. I desperately had to get my skinny jeans off by lunch time as my legs had swollen and I feared I wouldn't get them off if I left it much longer.

SleepymrsE · 12/08/2016 19:08

Sorry, forgot to mention special, hope you are doing ok and packing last minute bits in the hospital bag. Not long now til you meet baby special and can eat and feel like 'normal' again. I have forgotten what feeling normal is like.

SpecialStains · 12/08/2016 19:46

Hello, I'm meant to be packing my hospital bag now sleepy but keep on getting distracted by tiny clothes. Smile I had a haircut today, and got lots of sweets to take to hospital with me. Tomorrow is housework day, and DH and I are going out for dinner to celebrate last night before baby. Hopefully I'll have a baby Sunday evening, and be home on Monday morning.

Sleepy Your due date is getting close now. I sympathise, this pregnancy feels like it has lasted forever! Hope all your results are good news.

LT Step away from google! Fingers crossed your results are good.

Happy Hot weather really made my sickness worse too. Sympathies.

Rae As always it sounds like you're overdoing it. Try and take things a little easier.

Lucy Sorry your EDS is playing up. It's really not what you need on top of everything else.

MoP How is little baby?

I'm sorry if I've got anyone confused - I haven't slept properly for about 3 days now, and feeling a little dazed!

LucindaE · 12/08/2016 20:19

Lucy Good luck with wedding, and want to sympathize again about your just coming out of hospital. Was this a Hyperemesis related admission?
HappyDays What others say about quick absorption with dissolving pills sounds most likely - I'm guessing they'd be absorbed by half an hour.
Light So glad locum was helpful and i do hope you get a refund.
SleepymrsE Much sympathy over swollen legs.
Rae I meant to say before I so agree with MotherofPearl that you need a rest.
MotherofPearl Great advice as ever.
Special Glad you are up to celebrating your last night before baby joins you. The best of luck for Sunday.
Much sympathy for those suffering in the returned warm weather...
Well,we have two dates then

special enjoy the last couple of nights before baby is here and the very best of luck for Sunday!

lucinda my due date is 7th December

Waves to everyone else, I'm sorry my brain has stopped working tonight!

MotherofPearl · 13/08/2016 10:30

Special, enjoy your dinner this evening and best of luck for tomorrow. Looking forward to welcoming you to the fabled Pink Castle! Hope Lucinda is plumping the cushions in readiness!
Sleepy, sounds hopeful about the GD, if they've not got back to you. Let's hope you get the all clear on liver function too.
Lucy, enjoy the wedding this weekend!
Light, will be thinking of you at your scan on Wednesday. You've said before that you're 'old'?! I am 42 now, was 41 when DD2 was born in May, and I really worried about potential problems. I knew I'd be high risk for Downs etc. I ended up declining the various tests (apart from scans) and all was fine; she's perfectly healthy. I realise my approach of burying my head in the sand and hoping for the best won't work for everyone, but I guess I just wanted to offer a positive story for reassurance.
Happy, it is so hard to concentrate at work when you're feeling sick and generally distracted by thinking of baby. Hope the weather has cooled down for you - warm weather and pregnancy do not go well together.
Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. Thanks for asking after baby Special, she's doing well. Still a bit refluxy but the best night sleeper of all 3 by some distance. Smile

SleepymrsE · 13/08/2016 19:42

Quick message to wish special good luck tomorrow. I hope the induction works quickly and that you'll be snuggling baby and enjoying your tea and toast by tomorrow afternoon.

LightTripper · 13/08/2016 19:54

Good luck tomorrow special!

And thanks for the reassurance everyone. Although my age is not great, it still only translates to a 2pc risk. So I'm keeping away from Google, prepared for bad news but not dwelling on the possibility!

LucindaE · 13/08/2016 22:13

LightTripper They gave me a risk of Downs according to a blood test
far higher than for my age - a one in thirty three risk, I think; all was fine.
They gave amysmummy a one in four or higher risk - all was fine.
Wise words from Mother of Pearl. Grin Yes, I am plumping up the cushions and making all ready in the fabulous Pink Castle for Special Stains. Good luck for tomorrow!
SleepymrsE Sorry you have to wait until Monday for test results.

You'll all be weary of me - I have to go to mother's holiday cottage/ autistic spectrum brother's place in North Wales to restore some order in the building and grounds. I'll be back in three days or so. In the meantime, I do hope lovely Mother of Pearland icklekid will be looking in. Look after yourselves...

Lucinda, hope that visit goes OK. I'm here and keep checking in to see if there's any news from Special. Happy to keep an eye on things. Hope the quietness on here means everyone is coping. Not heard from Rae for a while, hope she's alright.

RaeSkywalker · 14/08/2016 17:38

Hi all, sorry I haven't been on this weekend! Was zonked yesterday (stayed in bed all day) and have been out with DH today getting some fresh air!

Mother I think you're right, I do need some time off. Problem is that I don't get sick pay any more because I've had too many days off Sad so I'm saving holiday to take if/when the HG gets really bad again. I think I'll need to take the risk and have a test though!

Lucy how was the wedding?

Light I'm so glad that the locum was helpful. Must've been a huge relief!

happy I struggle in the heat too!

Sleepy I'm pleased for you that things are looking good r.e. the diabetes- fingers crossed for the liver function test results.

Special thinking of you! Hope all goes well.

Sorry Lucinda for the delay- my due date is the 20th of November.

Hope everyone is ok this afternoon Flowers

Rae, so glad you've had a proper rest this weekend, a day in bed sounds ideal. As far as I know, pregnancy-related sickness should not be deducted from your sick day allowance. Check the Pregnancy Sickness Support website (there's a section for employees and employers). I might be wrong, but I'm fairly confident this is the case legally.

RaeSkywalker · 14/08/2016 19:12

Mother thank you for the advice- I've just checked the website and it says that I should be treated no differently to any other sick employee- and unfortunately our sick policy says you're entitled to a set number of days at full pay, and then it gets cut Sad

SpecialStains · 14/08/2016 19:32

Hello, just a quick one. Nothing happening yet. Had induction started at 9am, but nothing happening yet.

happydays00 · 14/08/2016 19:33

Nice to hear from you special , hope that things start to happen soon! Good luck!!

RaeSkywalker · 14/08/2016 19:57

Thanks for the update Special! Sending positive thoughts. Hope you're managing to rest a bit.

MotherofPearl · 14/08/2016 21:06

Thinking of you Special and willing baby to get a move on.
Sorry for the misinformation Rae, didn't mean to give you false hope. SeaEagle/Meerka knows more about this area but we've not seen her for a while.

MotherofPearl · 14/08/2016 21:16

Although Rae on this site http://www.workingfamilies.org.uk/articles/your-rights-if-you-are-ill-during-pregnancy-or-after-maternity-leave/

it suggests that pregnancy-related sickness does not count against your sickness record? Maybe worth checking with HR. It seems you do certainly still accrue annual leave during periods of sick leave, if that's any help.
