Hiya gang - been a. It absent as nausea and sickness is back with a vengeance along with fatigue. At 23wks I'm still not feeling the fabled "glow"!

Had a session with my consultant yesterday and still have to self inject from 28wks. Absolutely terrified.

Joys of pregnancy, eh?!?

At least I can feel her moving/kicking/punching now which allays some of the imposter syndrome worries I had a few weeks ago in between scans.

Anyone else slightly perturbed at big gaps between scans? My next is now 6wks away.

Bloopbleep · 19/01/2017 15:40

Hey teaspoon sorry to hear you're still feeling sick too :( the fatigue for me has gone but the insomnia has ramped right up. At least with fatigue I could get a sleep every so often.

I'm not perturbed by the scan gaps but I am impatient! I've still got my 20w scan to go (3weeks) then 30 and 36 weeks scans. By 36 weeks I'll just want a baby!! I'm still not shopping but really having to hold off. My excuse is we have no room in the house yet to keep a pram and bumph

Oh and I have a bump today. I've had a lot of pain past few days and in the shower I looked down and there it was. To the uninitiated it looks like lard but I know it's a different shape, sagging less ;) Feels a bit more real now i have a belly even if I do just look fat to an outsider.

Bloopbleep · 19/01/2017 15:41

Oh and I meant to say self injecting really isn't a bother. You'll get so quick at it and the nip lasts a second.

Teaspoon74 · 19/01/2017 19:09

Thanks Bloop.
With you on the bump thing. Am big anyway so not huge shape change to untrained eye yet, but I feel the hardness under my skin and my clothes fit differently as my shape changes.

Haven't "outed" myself in work yet but need to advertise for some backfill may cover start of Feb so should do the courtesy of telling colleagues first. Started doing in 121s with folk I'm closest to... and some have guessed. I work with GPs and apparently my lack of sleep/ not eating/ general knackeredness has given it away!!

mightymouse76 · 19/01/2017 19:30

Hi all,
Teaspoon and bloop, that's rubbish on the sickness. I'm 22+4 and my nausea only really dialled down...a week ago maybe? I describe it as about 5-10% background noise rather than the 'kill-me-now' 100% cacophony until week 18, followed by the 70% rollercoaster over Xmas.

I sort of expect it to come back tbh, but now I can feel him, it takes the edge off in a way?
I probably won't think that when I'm laying on the bathroom floor again, watching my earnings dwindle though!

I know everyone's different but when I was really struggling to eat, I found sweet and salty popcorn helped- I think the salt and sugar helped with dehydration (when I managed to get some water down too, which was tricky). Pret or Tesco do good ones.

On the gap between scans- I have absolutely considered booking a couple of private ones in. I have zero financial grounds to do this, but I don't care!!! I've impulse bought shoes with less consideration. My 20 week midwife appointment is going to actually be at 24 weeks (30th Jan) thanks to work commitments and a waiting list so a bit of extra reassurance would be great right now.

Thought about trying to get one this week as my already low bump appears to have got even lower today? I had low backache this morning too, which sent me into a panic, naturally. I have a low lying placenta but didn't think the two were related?

Much googling later appears to suggest lots of women carry really, really low and often with boys, but I still can't get used to the feeling he's movedConfused

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2017 22:41

I have low placenta and bad back ache

Scans. As I red flag I get 3w ones so not long to wait

Sorry sickness is still about. I'm 30w tom and last week or so felt ok (apart from Glucose test) do hope yours improves

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2017 22:43

Def more tired now and been injecting for months due to dvt. Agree not nice but kinda used to it now :(

Bloopbleep · 20/01/2017 11:08

mightymouse I love sweet and salty popcorn. Now I have to get to the shops to buy some :)

Teaspoon74 · 20/01/2017 13:18

Mightymouse thank you!! Was sick as a dog yesterday and after reading your post I got OH to pick up some popcorn. Are the lot!

Still feeling rubbish today, but just had some pea soup and at least something's staying down. I'm really hankering after green things and green/irony tastes. Anyone else getting cravings?

Bloopbleep · 20/01/2017 14:23

Mine is fresh orange juice teaspoon My teeth will be rotten by June

Teaspoon74 · 20/01/2017 14:45

Bloop I was struggling with bubs' position for scans when someone. (blondes?) recommended OJ. It worked!

Steering clear of it now as she's already kicking the crap out of me!

Womble75 · 20/01/2017 15:45

Yes fresh orange definitely gets them moving 😀

Bloopbleep · 20/01/2017 15:54

I still don't feel any movement :(

Womble75 · 20/01/2017 16:23

have a lie down on your left side for half an hour or so. Or try playing some music to your tummy with your phone/ lie in the bath/ My movements were much more obvious around week 24ish and had more of a pattern to them. Baby is definitely more nocturnal like his sister.

Teaspoon74 · 20/01/2017 16:48

My kicks only started in wk 22 and tend to be late afternoon and evening. Seems when I stop moving, she kicks off.

mightymouse76 · 20/01/2017 17:59

Glad the popcorn worked tea! It's a weird one but it seems to do the trick-sort of light but filling and doesn't make you want to barf afterwards.

Bloop my movements didn't get obvious until around week 17, and I think that's quite early. Don't worry they'll come!

My cravings are FRUIT!! All the really, really out of season stuff that costs a fortune right now (thanks baby). Kiwis, berries, oranges, passion fruit, oh god I'm obsessed. I'm bankrupting myself by eating all of those every day. And does he kick the hell out of me when I do! Apparently it's the sugar but I think mine responds to acidic foods -he kicks me when I eat pickled things too.

I couldn't handle green veg until around week 17 so you're doing well bloop.

I also love love love...soft cod roes...poached in milk and served on toast with a sprinkling of vinegar...I know. Proper nan food that would make most sane people heave. I was brought up in a fishy coastal village so that is my only defence!!

mightymouse76 · 20/01/2017 18:01

Sorry, tea not bloop on the green cravings!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/01/2017 21:56

YES oj is what all my friends reconvened. SCan lady said she hadn't heard of it 🙄 And she says star jumps and caffeine. Which didn't work !!

Totally gone off green veg. Did from 4/5/6w preg and still can't stand them
Now :(

Have 4d scan tomorrow. Kinda excited to see bubs again but also ahhhhhh as 16w 4d bubs looked like an alien

Gizmojo · 22/01/2017 11:36

Hi all. Sorry it's been a while but thanks for responding about the pins and needles. I'm usually pretty active (my job has me on my feet most of the day) and it is only when I lie on my right hand side now and not every night but am trying to do some light exercise each day, as recommended Smile

Bloopbleep · 22/01/2017 16:10

How did the 4d scan go blondes?

Hope the pins and needles are calming a bit gizmojo - I just get steering pain in my hips when I lie on my side.

I'm having an anxious day today. My bump seems to have gone away, the stretching pains have gone away and I'm not feeling pregnant at all. I know the stage between 12 and 20week scans is a bit horrible but I expected some movement or something to tide me over. I've got nothing and I'm getting really worried something has gone wrong. Only two and a bit weeks until he 20w scan but they're going to be a long wait :(

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/01/2017 17:00

Bloop please don't worry. Sounds all normal. Tho agree a long time. Hence why we did a private 16w scan to reassure us

Any chance you can have a private scan this week to put you at ease?

And our 4d was fab. Thought I posted on here yesterday. But obv not baby brain at its finest

Absolutely made our hearts melt. Seeing her little chubby cheeks. Did a lot of peek a boo with hands and as scan lady was prodding tummy to make her move her face screwed up to say / oh get off me 😂

Think I'm more in love with bubs now 'seen her' then ever before

16w was a bit alien like as no fat but at 30w gorgeous

Iusuallylovecake · 22/01/2017 17:23

Hi all, wondering if I can join in?! Been loitering for a bit but taken the plunge today!! Brief history, 41 and hoping this will be our successful first! Lost our first baby just over a year ago due to triploidy found at 12wk scan. Currently 19+6 and have scan on Tues!! Terrified!!!!! Hardly feel baby move and hoping this is normal??? Any calming words very gratefully received!!!

Womble75 · 22/01/2017 17:38

Awww Blondes Grin lovely! Not at all alien like 😀
It's amazing the difference at 30 weeks. Had she turned?
Baby is firmly down in my pelvis and been head banging the past fewdays so now have that pregnancy waddle where you look like a penguin 🐧. So uncomfortable but just glad head is where it should be.
Got some bits in the Aldi baby thing this week - really good value bits and bobs like socks, muslins, sleepsuits, swaddle blanket etc and also some stuff in Tesco one yesterday like steriliser (half price) bumper set etc. Slowly getting organised. Will get my bag sorted soon as well. Keep putting that off as that makes it real lol. Definitely know what not to pack this time round - last time I took half of Mothercare and disnt need it!

Womble75 · 22/01/2017 17:41

Sorry welcome cake!
Understand it's a worry - I lost 4 between DD and this one. It's usual not to feel much at 19 weeks, especially as it's your first.
You may feel "flutterings" like butterflies I your tummy. To be honest I felt make this time with number 2 than number 1.
Fresh OJ may help then lying down somewhere quiet for half an hour but it's totally normal at this stage 😊

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/01/2017 17:46

Cake welcome And sorry for your loss 💐

Perfectly normal to not feel baby move till 20/22w

I didn't feel bubs till 26w as in kicks but felt bubbles and butterflies etc few weeks before
