Well the doctor definitely thinks I am miscarrying

Had severe cramping for the last three evenings, followed by slight spotting yesterday and this morning.

Am seven weeks and 1 day pregnant. Can already see the baby in my head.

the doctor said - "will have to wait and see but, the good news is that you managed to get pregnant and than you should therefore be able to do it again", and "these are not good signs". No suggestions that it was likely to be anything else.

Very clear she thinks its most likely a miscariage.

I'm so sorry to hear this Angua. From your threads it was obvious you were so happy to be pregnant.

AnguaVonUberwald · 19/01/2007 14:06

I was/am so happy to be pregnant and am praying this one holds on. I am kind of refusing to admit it might happen at the moment, while also realising that its the most likely thing.

But it hasn't actually happened yet. So, just maybe, it might manage to hold on tight.

All I can do is pray and cary on like I think its all still going to happen. I just can't give up.

foxinsocks · 19/01/2007 14:07

oh Angua, I'm so sorry.

Fingers crossed xx

belgo · 19/01/2007 14:08

keep us updated. I hope your little one hangs on.

Mumpbump · 19/01/2007 14:11

Sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound good, but people do seem to have problems which don't necessarily end up with a m/c. I know the doctors see this all the time, but they really aren't terribly sympathetic - got a similar response from my doctor when I asked if there was anything I could do to avoid a m/c in my last pg... The waiting to see which way it works out is awful - I shall be thinking of you over the weekend...

lulumama · 19/01/2007 14:13

so sorry....will keep everything crossed for you ...xxxx

Marina · 19/01/2007 14:15

Angua, something similar happened to a friend recently...and she is now still pregnant, and the baby is fine.
wishing you similar good luck

foundintranslation · 19/01/2007 14:21

I'm so sorry you've got this awful worry to go through... thinking of you and wishing you luck. The doctor, too, is limited to guesswork at this stage.

AnguaVonUberwald · 19/01/2007 14:47

Thank you all for your responses. Marina, that is very encouraging.

I never before understood just how attached you can be by this stage. I just keep telling it to hold on tight in there - because we want to meet it, but it has to grow big and strong first.

Try to get lot of rest and will be keeping my fingers crossed. FWIW, I've had bleeding and cramping in all of my pregnancies, with dd it was pouring out of me, and my gp told me I had almost certainly lsot her, but she hung on in there. Really hope your little one clings on too.

LemonTart · 19/01/2007 14:53

Angua - just seen this. Thinking of you. Your GP is probably right to say that these aren?t good signs...but I had bad cramps and light bleeding with DD1. (My cramps weren?t severe but enough to put me to bed with a wtaer bottle). She is now 5 and a half years old! My fingers are tightly crossed for you too xxxxxx

SHELL2006 · 19/01/2007 14:54

Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

AnguaVonUberwald · 19/01/2007 15:31

Thank you all. The spotting is getting worse so... Still hoping against hope.

So sorry, Angua. Thinking of you.

Tutter · 19/01/2007 15:38

so sorry to hear things aren't looking good for you angua

it's not over yet, and my fingers are still crossed. i have experience of both - miscarriages that have happened like this, and bleeding/cramping in early pg that turned out fine. i really hope the latter is true for you xx

psi'm surprised she's taking a wait and see attitude if you have cramping and bleeding - did you ask about a scan?

danceswithnewboots · 19/01/2007 15:41

Thinking of you too Angua and hoping that beanie is clinging on tight xx

AnguaVonUberwald · 19/01/2007 15:45

Thank you all so much.

Tutter Scans weren't mentioned, and seemed not to be a possibility. Plus was so shellshocked couldn't think of everything.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 19/01/2007 15:47

Hope it all turns out OK. I had bleeding until week 12 with DD and it was all fine. Fingers crossed for you.

JoAndTheBoys · 19/01/2007 16:08

Got my fingers crossed for you Angua X

As others have said, many people get cramping and even fairly heavy bleeding, but the bean holds on to full term...

Try to rest as much as possible. Hugs to you. (())

Hulababy · 19/01/2007 16:23

So sorry you are going through this.

I hope that it is wrong for you, and that you haven't lost your baby.

Please remeber, there is no right or wrong way to feel. You will grieve for your loss - all those hopes and dreams were/are real and yes, it is normal to grieve for them.

I had a mc around the same time, first time I got pregnant. I went to see the GP as I was bleeding. I was sent to the EPU for a scan two days later. I actually lost the pregnancy the day in between - you could tell IYSWIM. I still had the scan the following day to check that everything had gone and nothing left behind.

Mumpbump · 19/01/2007 16:29

One other thing re: scans - ring the EPU if they're still open. I think people tend to think of the doctor first and forget that they can go directly to the hospital. My EPU booked me in for the first available scan they had, although it wasn't needed in the end...
