Pregnancy after infertility

bananafish81 · 03/03/2016 13:15

Thought I’d start this thread as I find myself feeling quite out of place on the ‘normal’ antenatal club threads - find it difficult to relate to being upduffed after 'just' having some sex, and thinking ahead to buying maternity clothes, how much maternity leave to take, where I’d like to give birth etc

I realise it’s entirely my own issues and that infertility world has clouded my views, but I want to scream ‘DON’T YOU KNOW EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG!!’.

There’s a thread for pregnancy after previous loss, but thought there might be some kindred spirits who are navigating the world of pregnancy after infertility

How was the scan HP?

Vixxfacee · 27/06/2016 22:17

Hi Kate, pleased to see you back. Congratulations!

HP07 · 27/06/2016 22:32

Hi, scan went really well thanks. Baby is measuring average for gestation and they estimate it weighs 2lb 11oz. Also my placenta has moved up and I should be able to have a vaginal delivery after all which is good. Thanks for asking. :)

Blueroses99 · 27/06/2016 23:14

Great news HP 😊

stealthbanana · 28/06/2016 07:25

tillyann2013 · 28/06/2016 08:19

Please may I join? 5 years of secondary infertility and numerous operations and failed iui and IVF. I am currently approx 6 weeks pregnant naturally. Very nervous and hoping everything is as it should be.

HP07 · 28/06/2016 08:33

Hi Tillyann. Welcome to the group. Good luck.

BorisisBack · 28/06/2016 14:47

Hi all, welcome Tilly!

I'm currently regretting my user name. I had variations on the boris theme for years and suddenly it feels very political.

We've had our 20 week scan (early) baby is healthy and measuring big. It's also a boy :) very happy here.

Borisisback · 28/06/2016 14:48

HP great news!

Hello - what a fab picture! Congratulations :-)

Rach what a fab thing to do - good luck with it and I will certainly have a look

loopylou1984 · 29/06/2016 18:23

Not part of this thread, but hope to be soon.

Just wanted to pop in to say congratulations to Boris - a boy! How wonderful :). Xx

stealthbanana · 29/06/2016 19:58

Excellent news hp and hello!

I had my 12w scan today - went well, we even saw his willy Grin. Was amazing seeing the baby. Low lying placenta but hopefully it moves out of the way.

The only other thing that was slightly concerning was that I had an extremely low PAPP A score. I know the baby doesn't have Down's syndrome as my IVF PGS AND the panorama test told me that, but a quick search on Dr Google tells me that low PAPP A can also be linked with pre-eclampsia, early delivery and restricted growth. Did anyone else have this? What did your doctor say? The worrying never stops!

Borisisback · 29/06/2016 21:09

Thank you sammy - so lovely if you to pop over here! Hope you are ok.
Stealth lovely to hear your scan was good. Sorry I can't help you with the test results - I havent a clue. Hope someone can help. Try not to worry I'm sure the doctors will know what to do about the result.

stealthbanana · 29/06/2016 21:18

Thanks Boris. Congrats on your scan too! Welcome to the boy club!

hellotreeshellosky · 29/06/2016 23:06

Thanks all. stealth I don't have that but I am high risk for pre eclampsia for other reasons and I am on daily low dose aspirin to reduce the risk. Might be worth asking if it would work for you? Congrats on your scan Smile

birchygoo · 30/06/2016 14:50

Hi Stealth, Im also at increased risk for pre-eclampisa due to family history and on daily aspirin.

If you skip over to the antenatal test thread - people there seem very knowledgeable about those sort of results. I would try and not worry though - easier said than done sometimes.

tillyann2013 · 30/06/2016 18:01

Thanks for the welcome, congrats on the scans too.
It's starting to sink in now with me but I don't feel any different at all. Nothing at all. Which of course is causing me more worry. I was going to go to clinic today to see if they'd do another blood test to see if levels were rising but I talked myself out of it. Sometimes it's better not knowing. Wishing away the hours till Monday's scan.
I hope I'm not like this the whole way through.

Borisisback · 30/06/2016 18:12

Ah tilly that's just how I felt for the first 9 weeks. It's scary and odd having no symptoms and not feeling pregnant. Hang in there.

tillyann2013 · 30/06/2016 18:16

Thank you boris, I think I was the same last time but 6 years ago so can't really remember! I am a touch grumbly though and feel really snappy and irritable. But maybe that's just me! :)

stealthbanana · 30/06/2016 21:39

Congrats tilly!

Thanks hello and birchy - I shall enquire about aspirin at my next consultant appointment. It's a bit of a strange one - Dr Google seems to be split between people for whom it's made no difference whatsoever and people who have had horrendous pre term birth or stillbirths. Eek!

Blueroses99 · 30/06/2016 22:51

Lovely scan pic hello.

Stealth I'm on aspirin 'just in case' as there is nothing specific indicating risk of pre-eclampsia. Hope you get some more info on the test results so that it's not such a worry.
