Pregnancy after infertility

Thought I’d start this thread as I find myself feeling quite out of place on the ‘normal’ antenatal club threads - find it difficult to relate to being upduffed after 'just' having some sex, and thinking ahead to buying maternity clothes, how much maternity leave to take, where I’d like to give birth etc

I realise it’s entirely my own issues and that infertility world has clouded my views, but I want to scream ‘DON’T YOU KNOW EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG!!’.

There’s a thread for pregnancy after previous loss, but thought there might be some kindred spirits who are navigating the world of pregnancy after infertility

Good luck smurfy, it will most likely be internal at that stage in order for them to get the best chance of seeing something. It's an amazing feeling, I cried at mine I was so relieved and overwhelmed.

MrsLen · 21/06/2016 18:00

Thanks everyone it's our first baby and I honestly never thought this would happen! Also thanks for not thinking I'm 100% crazy heading to glasto with my girlfriends.

Birchy enjoy the growing bump. While I've got gotten a seat on the tube yet (even with badge) I did get to jump the queue in primark! #PregnancyPerk

Good luck smurfy with your scan it's so overwhelming at 7 week scan as it starts becoming more real. I didn't realise what happened so DH missed first scan.

Hello have fingers crossed it moves.

Blueroses99 · 22/06/2016 09:15

Birchy I have put on 5kg so far 😳 Though I eat well and don't snack on sweet stuff. The largest weight gain was the same week my chest went up 2 sizes! (I think I need to get remeasured as I think I've had another growth spurt!)

MrsLen people are on your tube are mean! I am nearly always offered a seat with my badge, if not another passenger will ask on my behalf.

Smurfy1981 · 22/06/2016 22:34

Well scan was good, git to see the wee flicker of heart beat!! Need to go back in 10 days for another scan to see if there is 1 or 2 in thereShock

Fisherwoman14 · 22/06/2016 23:14

Hiya, scan went well for me too yesterday - such a relief! Scantier you doesn't even cover it! The nurse took such a long time till she turned the screen to show us - it felt an age. I was supposed to be 7 weeks yesterday but it measured 7w5d - how has that happened?! Feeling totally rotten with nausea and exhaustion - not the easiest with a toddler at home!

HP07 · 22/06/2016 23:56

Lovely news everyone.

Blueroses99 · 23/06/2016 00:14

How exciting smurfy! How do you feel now? Are you still having the tummy pain?

Great news fisherwoman! Hope the symptoms ease soon. Does this pregnancy feel similar to your previous one at this stage?

Smurfy1981 · 23/06/2016 13:43

Congrats MrsLen, Smurfy and Fisher!

stealthbanana · 23/06/2016 21:19

Congrats all! So exciting to get through a scan (although why o WHY does the scanxiety start building again so soon into the wait for the next one?!).

I had my first appointment with my antenatal consultant today. It went well, j really liked him. It turns out I haven't done a whole bunch of blood tests that should have been done between weeks 8 to 10. He said "the thing about IVF is that you're so focused on that, and what can go wrong, that you forget to do all the things you're meant to do when pregnant" Grin. I said, yes, I was concentrating on hoping my baby wasn't dead!

Unfortunately he didn't scan at this appointment so I'll have to wait until next week for my "12 week" scan. Countdown begins!

HopefulKate1980 · 25/06/2016 14:55

Hi ladies! Remember me?? Well I am back! Pregnant again! We miscarried at the start of June but managed to catch the little egg. Very scared. This will be number 4, so hopefully it will be a lucky one.

I will catch up on everyone's news since I've been gone. xx

HopefulKate1980 · 25/06/2016 14:56

I meant this is my 4th pregnancy, not 4th child. We've had three miscarriages so far... Sorry can't presume you remember my story! xx

HP07 · 25/06/2016 15:59

Hi Kate, great to see you are back. :) x

Blueroses99 · 25/06/2016 22:05

Glad to have you back so soon Kate.

I'm impatient for my 20wk scan on 5th July. Time is still going very slowly.

How's everyone doing this weekend?

hellotreeshellosky · 26/06/2016 11:09

Congratulations Kate, sticky thoughts for you.

I have my scan on Tuesday, scanxiety is running high and I'm convinced it won't be good news but hoping so hard that all is well.

HP07 · 26/06/2016 11:24

Growth scan tomorrow for me. Im nearly 28w :) No more bleeding since last update, perhaps my placenta has moved now. Horaay. Good luck to everyone.

Rach0505 · 26/06/2016 17:44

Kate!!!
I'm so happy for you. This is amazing news everything will be cross for you.
I haven't been on the thread for a while now since my miscarraige in May /June but I've kept a eye .
Wish you ladies all the luck in the world x

HopefulKate1980 · 26/06/2016 19:56

Thanks so much Rach. I am very nervous especially as we didn't have a period in between, but I am hoping with every fibre of my body that it won't make a difference & it sticks. Hope you are ok? xx

HopefulKate1980 · 26/06/2016 19:57
