Pregnancy after infertility

bananafish81 · 03/03/2016 13:15

Thought I’d start this thread as I find myself feeling quite out of place on the ‘normal’ antenatal club threads - find it difficult to relate to being upduffed after 'just' having some sex, and thinking ahead to buying maternity clothes, how much maternity leave to take, where I’d like to give birth etc

I realise it’s entirely my own issues and that infertility world has clouded my views, but I want to scream ‘DON’T YOU KNOW EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG!!’.

There’s a thread for pregnancy after previous loss, but thought there might be some kindred spirits who are navigating the world of pregnancy after infertility

Wow congratulations Stealth, Lovely news.
Welcome to the thread smurfy.

I'm plodding along fine at the moment and the good news is I've had no spotting for a month!! The longest time in the whole pregnancy so far that I've been bleed free! Horaay.

How is everyone else doing? We have been busy decorating the nursery and next month we are going to order a new carpet and the furniture which is quite exciting. 26+3 today and only 5 weeks left of work before I go on maternity leave.

Ali157 · 17/06/2016 11:06

Hi all!

After 4 years and icsi I'm 36+5 today and I only started enjoying pregnancy after about 25 weeks! I think I now just consider myself a 'normal' pregnant person but those that it took full 3 months to get pregnant still wind me up a little lol.

Getting nervous about the birth now but after all we have been through already we can do it right?

Blueroses99 · 19/06/2016 17:30

Hi Ali welcome to the thread.

I'm 17+6 and can't even think about the birth just yet! Feels like ages away... But I think you're right, we have been through so much already, so it'll be a breeze Halo

MrsLen · 19/06/2016 17:47

Hi ladies,

Hope you're all well. Xx

HP did you get the blood test results back? Is everything ok?

HP07 · 19/06/2016 17:54

MrsLen I'm still waiting for the results to be reported from Bristol. I've contacted the Dr surgery twice and my midwife and they are still running them. I'll let you know when I find out!

MrsLen · 19/06/2016 20:25

Wow HP that's been awhile. Thinking of you until the results come through. Xx

hellotreeshellosky · 19/06/2016 20:51

Hello all, just been having a catch up. Welcome Smurfy and Ali, nice to have you on here Smile

Congrats Stealth on your news. A boy, how exciting!

I'm 10+6, 9 days to go til scan... I have been feeling really positive until the last day or so. I'm not sure what's changed. I've not really got many symptoms, I don't feel like anything's expanding... Just afraid to get too excited I suppose.

Hope everyone is well.

Blueroses99 · 19/06/2016 22:41

Hope they hurry up HP and give you good news.

Hellotree lack of symptoms doesn't mean anything, probably just scanxiety. I get it every time!

birchygoo · 20/06/2016 14:54

Hey everyone - for some reason the thread disappeared from my timeline and I couldnt find you again! I just got an e-mail though to say someone had commented so was able to find you hurray!

Hi to newly pregnant additions and big big congratualtions! Early days are so nerve wrecking hang in there - I have found it def improves after 12 week scan and is improving every week. Although I am starting to get more nervous the closer I get to my 20 week scan which is a few weeks away yet.

HP - can't believe your results are not back yet! So nice to hear you have been bleed free for a month!

alphabook · 20/06/2016 15:44

Hi all
After a year and a half of ovulation induction treatment (clomid and gonal f) and a miscarriage last year, I got a BFP today. Equally over the moon and terrified, I can't quite believe it's actually real yet.
I don't really know how to relate to "normal" pregnant people so I'm glad this thread exists! I want to tell the world and tell no one at the same time, I feel like I'm going to burst!

Fisherwoman14 · 20/06/2016 16:38

Hi all, am hoping I can join. I had successful IVF two and a bit years ago which resulted in a gorgeous little girl (20 months old) and now have had a FET from the same "batch" as her and amazingly it worked. I'm approximately 7 weeks with a scan at the clinic tomorrow. I'm almost more nervous this time around as I was so lucky for treatment to work last time, can I really be lucky again? Needless to say, I'm not sleeping well with the worry of it all. Feeling rough too and can't decide if that's nerves or pregnancy related.
Good luck to all on this emotional rollercoaster Smile

MrsLen · 20/06/2016 18:33

20 weeks tomorrow and have scan first thing in the morning. So nervous but really trying to stay positive as tomorrow I'll know if we're having a boy or girl.

Having to go by myself as DH is in Scotland for his granny's funeral which is also tomorrow and feel so bad wishing he was here for the scan.

Also braving Glastonbury again this year. Think at 20 weeks pregnant it'll be a different experience than before. Fingers crossed for sunshine!! And hope you all don't think I'm crazy!!!Confused

hellotreeshellosky · 20/06/2016 18:47

Welcome and congratulations alpha and fisherwoman. The early days are tough but you are amongst friends here. Smile

Good luck for tomorrow MrsLen! I have got a festival booked in too, Cambridge is a bit more civilised than Glasto maybe but it will certainly be a less boozy experience than most years...

The rational part of me knows that there is no reason to be scanxious (great word Grin) but there is another part of that can't imagine a happy ending and expects a mmc. Oh well, I have an exam to keep me occupied this week... hope the time goes quickly...

HP07 · 21/06/2016 00:39

Hi everyone and welcome to the newcomers. Good luck for your scan tomorrow MrsLen. Do you have a preference for boy or girl or not mind either way?

Got my results this morning. Still no more information than I had before which is a bit disappointing. But all the report said was no action needed. Retest at 28 weeks, which is next week. Bit weird. I guess they will just keep an eye on the levels which is good but would be nice to know why/what it all means instead of having to Google and assume things. I have a consultant appointment and a growth scan next week so I will just ask the Dr to explain it all.

Blueroses99 · 21/06/2016 08:58

Hello alpha and fisherwoman, congratulations and welcome. Nerves are entirely understandable but try to be positive 😊

Good luck with your scans fisherwoman and MrsLen. Keep us posted!

HP I'm sorry that the results don't make things any clearer and you're not getting the information that you want. Hopefully the consultant will be able to help. It's great that you haven't had any bleeding recently.

MrsLen have a great time at Glastonbury! Most 'normal' women with 'normal' pregnancies seem to be able to get on with life without missing out on too much, so enjoy every minute!

I've had to cancel plans to go to the Taste festival last weekend as I can't stand for longer than 5 minutes without getting shooting pains in my lower back and legs. I'm having physio as well as my usual acupuncture and chiropractor sessions, and trying to do as much pregnancy yoga/Pilates and swimming as I can fit in, which all helps manage the pain but I don't think it's going to go away any time soon as I am only going to be getting bigger! It's quite literally a pain in the ass but I'm not complaining, just need to make sure I don't overdo it!

MrsLen · 21/06/2016 13:44

20 week scan showed all good with our bouncing baby boy who wiggled throughout the scan.

I have placenta praevia so fingers crossed it decides to move. Have 32 week scan booked in to check process.

HP07 · 21/06/2016 14:02

Beautiful scan photo there MrsLen. Congratulations. You're in the same boat as me then with the previous. I assume your placenta isn't actually covering your cervix if they are hoping it will move away?

HP07 · 21/06/2016 14:03

*praevia

stealthbanana · 21/06/2016 15:04

Gorgeous mrslen. You may want to report and repost the scan photo as your name and hospital are visible though x

alphabook · 21/06/2016 16:00

Congratulations Mrs Len!

MrsLen · 21/06/2016 16:23

Ah thanks stealth was so excited didn't even thing xx

MrsLen · 21/06/2016 16:25

HP they are hoping it moves and seem confident it will do so fingers crossed as wanted water birth if possible.

birchygoo · 21/06/2016 16:29

Fab scan pic - congratulations on having a boy!! Is this your first?

HP07 - glad your results are OK - frustrating that you still dont know any information what it was about.

I have noticed yesterday and today the beginnings of a bump ... im 17 weeks tomorrow. People keep asking me for past 3 weeks have I felt any movements - its way to early yet and I didn't even have a bump. I am keeping a close eye on my weight as BMI was already 29 - this morning was the first day I have put on weight which was 1lb which isnt so bad. Hopefully I dont just start piling it on now though. I am much hungrier now than I have been in last few months.

How have you all found your weight increase?

hellotreeshellosky · 21/06/2016 17:24

Congrats MrsLen lovely news and great pic! I've just been revising placenta praevia, odds are definitely in your favour that it will move.

Smurfy1981 · 21/06/2016 17:31

Aw how exciting mrslen
I go for my 7 week scan tmoro- feeling a wee bitty nervous!! Dont even know if its an internal scan or normal one!
