Pregnancy after infertility

Thought I’d start this thread as I find myself feeling quite out of place on the ‘normal’ antenatal club threads - find it difficult to relate to being upduffed after 'just' having some sex, and thinking ahead to buying maternity clothes, how much maternity leave to take, where I’d like to give birth etc

I realise it’s entirely my own issues and that infertility world has clouded my views, but I want to scream ‘DON’T YOU KNOW EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG!!’.

There’s a thread for pregnancy after previous loss, but thought there might be some kindred spirits who are navigating the world of pregnancy after infertility

Lucie thinking of you for today. Work might help to distract you slightly? Had I not been at work before my scan I would have wound my self up into a mess. Good luck. What time is your scan so I can stalk this thread for an update?!

The stats are something like I have a 2.6% chance of a miscarriage after seeing a heartbeat at 7+5 and that decreased to 2% after 12 weeks. Thats pretty good.

My sleeping pattern is s nightmare, I get tired at 9, bed at 10 wake up at 2 or 3 and can't sleep again. I'm becoming a zombie! I need more sleep than this. My cats are loving it as they get attention and sometimes an early breakfast. My husband is less happy as I wake him up tossing and turning.

Thanks Boris, appt is 1820 so I will let you know all know as soon as I can afterwards. Yes hopefully work will distract me for a bit. That's really good odds after 7-8 weeks.

HP07 · 13/04/2016 10:30

Good luck tonight Lucie, I will be at work by the time you're finished but I'll try and keep popping on for the update. Really keeping everything crossed for you.

Actually managed to go back to sleep this morning after waking up at 7.30 and get some proper rest which was good. Still had loads of dreams but actually feel quite refreshed. :)

kiwiblue · 13/04/2016 14:21

Good luck Lucie, fingers crossed for you.

BorisIsBack · 13/04/2016 17:44

Thinking of you lucie. X

lucieloos · 13/04/2016 17:51

Thanks everyone just getting ready to leave! This has to be one of the hardest things I've done Confused

Thom80 · 13/04/2016 18:18

Lucie - yiu are probably already in the apt but wanted to wish you luck and say that I am keeping everything crossed. I know what a horrendous wait it is.

lucieloos · 13/04/2016 18:28

Nothing on the scan at all. It wasn't internal but she said she would have seen something anyway.

scienceteachergeek · 13/04/2016 18:54

Oh I'm so sorry Lucie Flowers

Thom80 · 13/04/2016 18:57

Lucie - I am so sorry. thinking of you and your family. Flowers

BorisIsBack · 13/04/2016 18:58

Lucie Flowers for you. I'm heartbroken for you.

Blueroses99 · 13/04/2016 19:02

Oh Lucie, I'm so sorry to hear that. Will an internal scan help find out what's going on?

HP07 · 13/04/2016 19:15

I'm so sorry Lucie, what devastating news. Thinking of you. Xx

Blue2014 · 13/04/2016 19:21

Lucie I'm so sorry to hear that.

I'm really surprised they didn't do internal but I guess I don't really know what I'm talking about with this. Sending you lots of love xx

(Hi to everyone else, sorry I'm still really just lurking right now)

Thom80 · 13/04/2016 19:30

Lucie - been thinking about you since you posted. I hope that they have offered you support and can provide answers if possible. Xxx

lucieloos · 13/04/2016 20:46

Thanks everyone I'm at epu now hoping to get an internal scan. I can't wait another week to know what's going on. It seems strange that they didn't see anything at all as I haven't bled that heavily.

MrsLen · 13/04/2016 20:48

Lucie hope you get a different result with the internal. My thoughts are with you. Xx

birchygoo · 13/04/2016 21:09

Lucie I'm so sorry you didn't get straight forward good news. Hopefully trans vaginal scan will give a clearer picture. Could your dates be wrong? When I was 5+3 nothing was seen on abdominal scan, trans vaginal showed a sac but nothing much else. A week later abdominal scan showed more. I really hope so much your dates are slightly out. Keeping you in my prayers

BorisIsBack · 13/04/2016 21:13

Oh lucie I hope the Epu give you some good advice and an internal scan. Glad you didn't wait a week. Xxxx

lucieloos · 13/04/2016 21:31

Epu don't scan in the evening so that was a waste of time. Have to go back tomorrow. Birchy, I'm not sure how my dates could be wrong with IVF as I know exactly when transfer was etc

BorisIsBack · 13/04/2016 21:38

Oh lucie, sorry. Take good care of yourself tonight.

birchygoo · 13/04/2016 21:53

Oh lucie, please do take care of yourself. Are you going back in the morning? I was scanned at 8.20am so may be worth pitching up early. It seems so strange saying your bleeding hasn't been that heavyFlowers thinking of you and dh

BorisIsBack · 14/04/2016 12:45

Lucie thinking of you today.

lucieloos · 14/04/2016 13:32

It's all over now. Had the scan. She couldn't see anything which resembled a 6 week sac. She saw one or two tiny black blobs but nothing viable. One by ovary so possibly ectopic. Had bloods today and got to go back for more Saturday to see what the hcg is doing but either way there won't be a baby. Not sure how much more of this I can go through!

Blue2014 · 14/04/2016 13:34

Oh Lucie - I'm so so sorry Thanks
