Welcome dorothy! With my first pregnancy I picked a couple of scan dates that would suit with my midwife at my booking in appointment and then got confirmation of one of my choices in the mail.

Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time turi - I've read sickness bracelets work for some posters?

LillianFullStop · 29/02/2016 19:02

Good news on my scan today we saw a nice strong heartbeat! Bean is measuring a week earlier but that's to be expected since I do have longer cycles. 7+3 by LMP, 7 by LMP adjusted for longer cycle and today's scan shows I'm measuring as 6 weeks. Will wait and see until my NHS scan booking comes through now as they say the dating becomes more accurate later.

Lucinda15 · 29/02/2016 19:39

I write this as I am tucked up in my bed - exhaustion well and truly arrived in camp!

lillian wonderful news about your scan, congrats.

turi have you considered acupuncture for he sickness? I have a friend who tried everything and swears acupuncture was the only thing that cured her sickness. I have also been having acupuncture (began a month or so ago for fertility problems) and she has also said she could help with sickness if/when it arrives. I wonder if it could help you? Lots of love and hope it eases for you soon Flowers

Lucinda15 · 29/02/2016 19:50

Ooh and welcome dorothy - sounds like it really varies depending on which area you are in... I did an online self-referral to midwife services at hospital when I got my BFP. Then a midwife telephoned me to discuss basics (date of last period etc) and arranged to send me blood test form and dating scan appointment in the post. Both arrived within a week. She gave me the name and number of my community midwife and advised she wld be contacting me by phone to arrange booking appointment around 8 weeks pregnant x

DorothyParker72 · 29/02/2016 20:35

Thanks Lucinda, I'm going to the midwife this weds for blood/urine tests so hopefully scan will then also be booked.
Have also been having a look at early scans privately which I will decide on after I see the midwife this week. Fingers crossed! X

DorothyParker72 · 29/02/2016 20:36

Thanks Lillian! :)

JayBeanie · 29/02/2016 20:41

I had acupuncture for sickness last week and have been feeling a lot better this week. I've been having acupuncture anyway, firstly to regulate periods then for ttc and now to help with pregnancy. I had been avoiding the anti-sickness needles because I was worried they take my symptoms away and I'd get paranoid about something going wrong but last week I felt so rough I gave in. I would recommend it for those feeling rough.

Welcome Dorothy, I had my booking app past week and received my scan letter today for 2 weeks time when I will be 12+3.

Lillian fab news about your scan Smile

Keys good luck tomorrow, hope it all works out this time!!

Dobby eek, not long now, how exciting!! Look forward to hearing about your new arrival!!

Lucinda15 · 29/02/2016 21:50

jaybeanie can I ask how often you are having acupuncture? I was having it weekly when TTC but now the budget needs tightening a bit and I was going to drop to once a month. Not sure if that would be beneficial!

dorothy I am going to book a private scan too! Have a reassurance scan at 8 weeks next week, then my dating scan is at 13 weeks. I previously miscarried at 11.5 weeks so that window is going to hard without another scan to reassure me in between. I've found a local clinic that does them for £75 but I think it will be worth every penny if it keeps me calm.

LillianFullStop · 29/02/2016 23:38

thanks lucinda and jay! Let's hope I can stay positive until my 12 week scan Smile

JayBeanie · 01/03/2016 07:18

Lucinda I'm going weekly until 16 weeks then monthly I think until the last month then back to weekly again (as my acupuncturist recommended). I had a mmc in Nov and some heavy bleeding early on so even though it's expensive I've decided it's completely worth it if it helps this baby stick. It's strange, I never believed in it until I saw some amazing changes to my periods and now I 100% believe everything she tells me Hmm

keys27 · 01/03/2016 07:25

lillian lovely news about your scan hun xxx onwards and upwards :) so pleased for you

Lynsey how u feeling today hUn? Has the spotting stopped?

jay thanks for well wishes today hun I am incredibly nervous have not slept at all. :(.
Great advice on the sickness front. I've been really lucky this pregnancy I haven't been sick but constantly felt sick I found chewing gum helped loads. I finally feel good now after 15 weeks however last night the tiredness kicked in again around 4. Went off like a light woke up at 1 am and that was my lot. You don't stop worrying even at this stage as symptoms gone and you can't feel baby move it's like you have no clue if everything is ok.

mantee lovely to see you back with us. Wow 13 weeks now that flew. I hope everything has resolved and looking forward to sharing the rest of your pregnancy journey with you.

I don't see any harm booking private scans if nhs won't give you one it's what kept me sane through the first trimester.

Northernlight22 · 01/03/2016 08:30

Absolutely nothing wrong with private scans - I'd be paying a fortune out on them if I wasn't lucky in the sense I've got nhs scans.

Back at EPAU tomorrow for follow up scan to see what's happening with the twin - dreading it as its this week in my last pregnancy that I had the MC. No bleeding though so far in this pregnancy and a healthy heartbeat last week on one of them so fingers crossed!

Great news Lillian!

Eastend2015 · 01/03/2016 08:44

Good luck Northern!

Re acupuncture- I had a few sessions too before conceiving again and post my MMC, but found shiatsu and reflexology worked better for me. I think it had a really positive impact on my stress levels and to think more positively too- I'd definitely recommend it!

Lilliana · 01/03/2016 09:09

Hi everyone, I've been quiet lately but not had any news to share! All is the same but only 6 days to wait until I get my scan. Still feeling nausea and tiredness and with DD having a sickness bug that meant absolutely no sleep one night I'm not in the best of ways!!

Really hope all is well with the second twin northern

Thinking of you today keys

Yay Manatee second trimester ahead!!

Take care everyone and try not to worry

LynseyH5 · 01/03/2016 09:32

Morning all. Yes keys it seems to have stopped again. I did think my period would have been due around now, is that a possible reason? Is that what they call breakthrough bleeding? Midwife in Thursday so least things will start moving slightly.
So many posts that I can't keep up!
Just want to say to everyone who has a scan or appt this week, hope all is well. I really do feel for those suffering with sickness and nausea. I hope you all get to second trimester quickly and it clears up for you to enjoy your pregnancies. It's a little crazy to think we actually put ourselves through this isn't it! As we're all at similar stages, can't wait til we are all there and the news starts coming through that the little ones are being born safe, healthy and happy.
Kinda looking forward to summer though, when I'll be with a big bump and can wear some lovely maxi dresses!

DorothyParker72 · 01/03/2016 10:20

Lucinda15 - I'm still debating an early scan as part of me doesn't want to know if it's bad news! Going to decide after my midwife appt tomorrow where I should hopefully get a date for my 12 week scan (currently 9 weeks). My mc last year was around 5/6 weeks so hoping it's all going to plan this time.

Wishing you the best of luck for next week! x

Lucinda15 · 01/03/2016 10:48

Good luck today keys Flowers hope it goes smoothly and over before u know it!

And good luck too northern I hope today goes quick and tomorrow brings u good news.

Thanks for the feedback on acupuncture jay I'm in a bit of a quandary! I do rate it highly but can't say I enjoy it and every week is a bit more than I can manage financially. But I do so want to do whatever I can to support this pregnancy. eastend I really like reflexology too and am also having that once a month. I find it a lot more relaxing and enjoyable than the acupuncture. I was sort of hoping by doing both acupuncture and reflexology once a month will help me keep calm and support the pregnancy well enough. I will see.

dorothy I know what you mean about not wanting bad news and being unsure about private scan. The clinic near us where I am considering booking ours, only do them on Saturdays - and the week I'm considering will be the day before my DH birthday. We have quite a few celebrations planned that wknd it will just be such an awful time if it all goes wrong. Discussed with DH tho and we are prepared to go ahead. That milestone will be so hard to get thru, I think if we didn't have the scan we would not enjoy ourselves anyway as we would be remembering what happened that week during our last pregnancy and will both be anxious and worried. So, keeping everything crossed that history doesn't repeat itself. I'm glad you have got past your milestone, and hope the booking appt goes well tomorrow and you won't have to wait too long for your scan.

Lots of love to everyone Flowers

DorothyParker72 · 01/03/2016 11:17

Thanks Lucinda, Wishing you all the best for yours. It is the right decision but brave all the same. Good luck. x

positivity123 · 01/03/2016 15:33

Hi all. Can I join as I've just seen this thread and it is amazing how I've been feeling the same way as so many people but thought I was going insane on my own!
I had a MC last July, I went for 12 week scan to be told it had stopped around 6 so I was heartbroken. DH and I started trying again in September but it took until February to get our BFP. I am 7 +6 but I know I ovulated late as I was using OPKS.
We have booked in for a private scan on Thursday as we can't bear waiting.
My sickness was bad last week but has eased up. I didn't have any last time so I see it as a good thing every time I want to hurl.
I totally agree about a miscarriage taking away your innocence. We told close family last time I was pregnant but I don't want to tell anybody in real life until the 12 week scan this time as I felt like I'd let other people down which I know is redicoulus.
Anyway it's great to hear some of the positive stories and I'm sorry for all the people feeling so sick

Northernlight22 · 01/03/2016 16:30

Welcome along positivity, I think our dates are similar. Smile

positivity123 · 01/03/2016 16:41

That's nice Northern. What level of worry are you at? DH and I allow ourselves a 10 minute freak out in the evening where we talk about how terrified we are about it going wrong then we have to be upbeat the rest of the time.

Northernlight22 · 01/03/2016 19:50

I'm probably at the top of the scale at the mo as I have a follow up scan tomorrow and I'm freaking out in case it's bad news!

I try to spend most days positive though and hope that no bleeding or drama means all is well :)

dobbythedoggy · 01/03/2016 20:06

Trip to hospital this morning for me, reduced movement, a bit dissapointed not to have come home with baby rather than bump. Have a suspected uti which caused my temp to rise and made bump very sleeply. Hurry up bump!

Hope everything went smoothly today keys

LynseyH5 · 01/03/2016 20:29

Good luck for tomorrow northern x
