I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Hi all, having a tough day today...complete opposite of yesterday. Non stop nausea which is probably a result of the fact I only had about 3 hours sleep last night due to dd crying/trapped wind pain. Feeling like utter crap and so weak. Hating the fact it's Friday as no peace this weekend with oh and dd around. Oh is being a prat again and not pulling his weight/complaining I'm still not better. I can't stand him! Hg has seriously damaged our relationship. It did the same last time and took us a while to come back from it...I was stupid to think it wouldn't happen again. Sorry for the rant. Just feeling awful.

Icant glad you're getting help. Hope you feel better once rehydrated. Spandau the pain is awful isn't it. Have you tried boiled water for the wind? Some people add lemon but I can't.

Ealli hugs...I know how you feel as I felt the same with dd. Unfortunately it couldn't be helped for our little ones and we had to be medicated.

Hope everyone else is surviving. Another day almost done.

spandau1980 · 16/10/2015 19:07

All four off mine had reflux and I never took any meds. It's very common eallison
Sorry but breast milk is worst for reflux babies so maybe try the reflux milk powder
Also start weaning at 4 months !

Reebok I know how you feel the amount of times OH has said I need to terminate this pregnancy and I am hurting other kids cos I'm so ill ect
He can't cope with me so ill
F s me off as I'd manage if other way around !!!
Starting to wanna eat more in evenings. Had pizza and chips with kids
What a mistake
That was the worst experience bringing it up !
Sat feeling sorry for myself

Lucinda I've tried senna and fruit juices and glycerin suppositories
Really struggle to eat fruit or prunes ect can't stand them when ok
But my stomach is aching all the time and most things sit there waiting to come back up
It's so revolting

11 weeks 1 day

Reebok have you tried suckling on cadbury buttons after acid reflux sick ?
It eases the pain alot
Bizarre but if it works !?

Feeling low again .. long day

spandau1980 · 16/10/2015 19:09

Sucking! !! Not suckling
Lmao

Reebok · 16/10/2015 19:41

Ah feel for you spandau but helps that you also understand. Oh decided to apologize after he heard me chucking up and crying in the Bathroom. When I came out I was silent so he hugged me. I told him
I feel like terminating and he said I would get through this...and continued to hug me. Thing is he does that....acts like a prat and then apologizes. Doesn't get that if he him being a prat stresses me out and makes me feel sicker.

Can't eat anything normal chocolate. Aggravates my heartburn and reflux. Funny thing is I can handle coco pops. I miss chocolate. I'm usually an addict.

Spandau by the way, I've found you this link for enemas on Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/Enema-Laxative-Saline-133ml-Each/dp/B00NB43DRO

Just order them online as you can't seem to get them in a chemist. How long has it been since you have managed to go? This will hopefully clear you out and then you can start with the juices to keep things flowing.

Reebok · 16/10/2015 19:44

I'm either 12 weeks Sunday or 13 weeks tomorrow. Won't know for def until scan on Thursday. Was hoping I would be better by now....wishful thinking. I hate this. I miss my life. I miss being me. I look like shit feel like shit. Feel so down and just want to sleep forever so I don't have to feel like this anymore.

spandau1980 · 16/10/2015 19:53

With u totally
Reebok
I can't handle it very well either ... I hate looking so ill... everyone says ooo ur pale
I throw up a.d feel sick 24/7 .... you'd look pale !!!
I hate washing as it stinks and makes.me throw I hate clean clothes smell I hate cleaning my teeth as I nearly always throw
I hate speaking as I feel so sick
I hate tv I hate being awake
I HATE PREGNANCY FULL STOP

LucindaE · 16/10/2015 20:00

Reebok and spandau It is very hard on you, and OH's often not being good at handling it makes it worse. Gentle pats on offer. I think doctors can offer other stuff, spandau and as the last resort, there's the rinsing bowel out thing you can get on the web which some sufferers on here have had to resort to.
Ican't As others say, there is no help for it; he'll have to go in late. It's no fault of yours.
ealilison Like spandau can say, ff it's any comfort to you, my LO had terrible colic which made her frantic which I would probably have blamed on conventional meds if I'd been given any,but I hadn't.

Lol, Reebok I missed your link.

Reebok · 16/10/2015 20:05

Thanks lucinda

spandau reposting the link for the Amazon enemas in case you missed it:

www.amazon.co.uk/Enema-Laxative-Saline-133ml-Each/dp/B00NB43DRO

Order! It will help!

(Ps more flutters right now...only good part of today)

spandau1980 · 16/10/2015 20:06

It will get better
Iv done it before
And when it's done it's a distant memory
(Unless you get a sick bug then I think christ I felt like this for 4.months straight I never wanna be pregnant again!)
But you do forget
Lol hence why I'm at it again !!!!
Focusing on my scan date 27th see little one and get tests done ...
Then when they come back clear focus on week 16
Amd how much food I'm gonna stuff in my face when baby arrives !!!
As I'll get reflux and heartburn and other pregnancy woes after 16 weeks but as long as the constant nausea does one it ll be heaven !!!!!!

Melleebacca · 16/10/2015 21:23

Icant - so glad you're in hospital getting help!

Lucinda - the vomitting from early pregnancy dropped my iron levels and I've barely been able to stomach anything with iron in it since, hence the injections. I've had nausea the whole way through, but haven't actually vommed since week 25. The iron injections hurt so badly though! I have to have one a week from now onwards.

The pink castle sounds awesome. The relief from nausea, heartburn and back ache will be amazing, but for now I'm hoping baby stays put for at least another week. SIL had her little boy yesterday, and I would like to avoid joint birthdays as much as possible :)

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 17/10/2015 10:03

How are you all doing today ladies?
Quick update:
Still in as had a bad night, and starting to jaundice. Having lots of IV things but still have ketones but on the mend. Have a nice little side room - but the lady from hell in the room next door!

Flowers for you all x

LucindaE · 17/10/2015 10:49

ICan't I'm so glad you feel slightly better and have good accomodation; but jaundice sounds awful, and the woman next door. I hope the hospital have explained to OH that you are too ill to go home?
Mellebacca Very altruistic of you to want to hold out for a separate birthday before you enter the portals of said Pink Castle. I used to know a woman who had three with birthdays within a week, and being an authoritarian parent insisted that they celebrate with a joint party with entertainment for an eleven year old mixed in with entertainment for a five year old, in a big hired hall.
Reebok Those flutters are so exciting. You have them very early; I was said to have them early, sometime round coming up to week thirteen, but with you it sounds amazingly early. As if baby (or fate) is giving you some encouragement, lol.
I hope everyone is coping this Saturday.

eallison88 · 17/10/2015 11:25

spandau and reebok;thinking of you both and feeling for you. You are doing so so well to get thru each minute and hour. It will end, as you both know rationally. But I can totally understand that in the minute to minute/day to day it just feels like an unending hell. reebok I'm so glad that you've got comforting flutters - when I started to feel baby moving it made nausea worse, kind of like an added internal motion sickness. I did get used to it and it was a nice thing in the end!

icant I'm sorry that you seem to have extra complications as well as horrid HG - nature seems to be being particularly cruel. Glad you're in hospital tho. Hopefully they can come up with an implement some kind of plan to better care for you and your clearly quite complex needs. Makes me grateful that we happen to live so close to our hospital and that it's such a good place for HG support.

Sending positive vibes to everyone and hoping for a peaceful weekend for you; I know that having paryner/children around more can be difficult for some. I currently have a very snotty, bunged up, wheezy baby curled up on my chest. I had convinced myself i would have an 'easy' baby to make up for the HG... alas it was not to be!

spandau1980 · 17/10/2015 13:13

Ordered the enemas
Iv spent 4 hours crying and sweating and pushing and nothing
Glycerin suppository have don't nothing
Getting scared iv hurt baby by all this straining
Reebok are yiu able to go better now?
Got piles too which is causing more pain :(

LucindaE · 17/10/2015 13:19

spandau That sounds horrible. It might be an idea to ask for advice by phone, if that can be done over the weekend; if not on the NHS helpline which should be available at your doctor's surgery. They may have some idea of how to get things going before the enema thing arrives. How long since you were able to move your bowels? I am really sorry the jelly things did no good at all.
eallison The poor baby, oh dear. I hope he isn't sleepless as well?

OP posts:
Reebok · 17/10/2015 13:29

Afternoon all, slightly better morning than yesterday so far. Some nausea but I managed to go out with oh and dd...oh bought me some boots which cheered me up and took me for an early lunch...cheese toasty lol...not like I can eat anything else! Home again and resting while dd naps. Another awful night....struggling badly with sleep...can't get comfortable and body aches constantly. After my scan I will invest in a pregnancy pillow.

Lucinda, with dd I felt flutters around 14 weeks but apparently with subsequent pregnancies, flutters can start earlier. Helps to remind me that there's actually a life growing in there and not an alien eating away at my body.

Icant you poor thing. Sorry you are suffering but glad you're being taken care of. If only your stupid gp had gotten you help earlier.

Ealli hope ds feels better soon. The mucus from birth can make them quite bunged up for a while unfortunately. Raise his Moses or cot to help him breathe.

Spandau, you poor thing. How long since you have been? In truth the only way I can go now is with an enema. It's painful and I get piles. You sound like you may have impacted stools. Can you feel them stuck in your rectum? Sorry tmi! You may have to try manual extraction. It's gross but it's the only way anything will come out. Get yourself gloves and use lots of Vaseline to help ease the passage before you use the enema. Or you will have to go to a n e and a doctor will have to do it. So sorry you're suffering so badly.

MadrigalElectromotive · 17/10/2015 16:07

Hello everyone, I think I may need to join the group. I am 7 weeks 2 days and struggling to keep anything down. I had a better day yesterday but the nausea and vomiting are back with a vengeance today. This is my first, so I don't know if this is just bad normal morning sickness or something worse. Feeling pretty desperate at the moment either way, and not sure how to improve things.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 17/10/2015 17:28

Welcome to the group Madriga.
It's been an absolute lifeline for me and these lovely ladies have plenty of advice.
Hope it works out spandau sounds terrible :(
Hope the cheese toastie stayed down reebok
eallison hope baba is better soon :( how's his reflux?

Sorry for the short replies, bad headaches and as always struggle with this phone and remembering what to say to who!

MotherofPearl · 17/10/2015 17:35

Welcome Madrigal. Have you seen your GP or tried any medication? There are a lot of options for meds; you shouldn't have to just endure it. If you're not keeping anything down you need to test your urine for ketones. Try a pharmacy for Ketostix, which will tell you if you have ketones. A reading of 3+ and you need to go to A&E, or an Early Pregnancy Unit if you have one near you. Let us know how you get on.

MotherofPearl · 17/10/2015 17:41

Spandau, the worst sufferer I've ever known on this thread, Kalidasa, spent weeks in hospital and had horrendous constipation. She swore by enemas and also a medication called Movicol (spelling?). Not sure if it's available over the counter. She would take the Movicol 'impaction dose' and then follow up with an enema. May be worth looking into?

MotherofPearl · 17/10/2015 17:48

Sorry about all these separate posts but my phone has been misbehaving. Icant, are you still in hospital or home now?
Reebok, glad you got a morning out at least. I've had some cousins of mine visiting today and although I'm tired now and in bed, it was nice to feel more normal for a bit. Hope your sleep problems resolve, sounds exhausting.
Ealli, hope BabyEalli is feeling better very soon. You deserve a break!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 17/10/2015 17:59

Heya MoP I'm still in. Was meant to come in last night but I've developed jaundice so having lots of different things IV

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 17/10/2015 18:06

Meant to say come home*
Leaking bilirubin in my wee and turning like a Simpson, bloods repeated in the morning and hopefully home tomorrow :)
Joys of hyperemisis and lupus!

Reebok · 17/10/2015 18:12

Icant don't even know what to say! Least you are in the best possible place and hopefully will feel better soon.

Welcome magdiral. Sorry to hear you are suffering. I agree with mop...check those ketones and get on medication ASAP.

How are you feeling Mop? Rest up.

Having more cravings today....Chinese food so I tried some but can feel it trying to make its way up. Oh well! Here's hoping it won't hurt!
