I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Icant that's crazy! I don't understand why they've taken you off ondansetron when you're not coping and they're not giving antiemetics through iv (and fluids) when you clearly need it!!! You poor thing. I'm mad on your behalf.

Hope everyone is doing ok today. I'm feeling all acidy in my throat and it's making me nauseous. Spending another day indoors doing nothing. Need to build up my strength for the working week that lies ahead...train vomits and all! Over 16 weeks now...

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 15/11/2015 14:52

Mop still on steroids they increased it, but weather I'm keeping that down I don't know, nurse just came and I've had my IV access taken out as Dr rang them and said for me to tolerate oral antibiotics. I'll give it a go but no hope! Sad she was really nice but nothing she can do about it.
So I've come home for nothing basically!
reebok they are arseholes haha! I totally feel for you having to use public transport. It must be hell!
spandau If I name it I'll be outed as from a small town and probably the only hyperemisis patient with lupus Blush South Wales though - and not a big super hospital.
When I lived in oxford and seen the John Rafcliffe hospital I was amazed - it's literally like 10x bigger!

LucindaE · 15/11/2015 17:21

Ican't
I am appalled. In the circumstances, as I see it, the only thing to do is to phone the advising doctor on Pregnancy Sickness Support on 024 7638 2020
You will have to leave a message but they will ring you back and be very helpful. If you explain all that' s gone on (and goodness, it's a real saga, poor you) they may be able to think of something. I do feel for you. I don't understand why home fluids aren't available when they have tried all the options for you, and none work.
MotherofPearl That shows it was true spam, and probably sent to every thread on Mumsnet including ones for women expecting their tenth (if there are any).
Sorry, this is really tedious; OH wants to shove more updates on the PC and I have to get off it. I hope everyone is coping today. What a gale last night!
I hope you all got some sleep.

I have heard care in Wales in general is not great I am so so sorry you are struggling so much icant I was thinking of you earlier, and am appalled now to learn you're not having home IV now after all! I don't know how you are managing but agree with lucinda a call to that pregnancy sickness advice line is a good idea to get help fighting your battle for proper care

spandau1980 · 15/11/2015 17:49

I think I know which one.lol as.only one in s Wales now doing maternity me thinks :p
You need to be doing a formal complaint
And OH needs to be kicking right off.
It's a right journey for you to isn't it? And how the smeg ya suppose to take oral antibiotics when ur vomiting all the time ...
Grrr wish I was there I'd kick some welsh docs arses !!!!!

I'd be threatening legal .. newspapers... anything to get them to do what needs to be done ...

I feel so helpless sat here ... :(

Had a shocking day today ... feel.non stop sick and fed up ...
I'm 15 weeks plus 3 now ... I feel like I've had this all my life now lol can't remember enjoying food or drink ...

In the grand scheme of things my woes are trivial ...meh

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 15/11/2015 18:12

lucinda I never thought of that, I shall do.
shoop it really is shockingly bad - it's not the staffs fault at all it's just the system down here :( - well apart from some Drs who don't have much knowledge ;).
spandau don't even get me started on the hospital where the maternity services are! The first few admissions I was there - think I did mention it, glangwilli hospital, which I can say as it now serves 3 counties haha! But the care I've had the last 3 admissions I've refused to go there so been at the local hospital service, which I can now until 20 weeks apparently so the first few times were a pain for nothing!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 15/11/2015 18:14

spandau when it comes to HG nothing is trivial - it's just shit isn't it!

spandau1980 · 15/11/2015 18:47

It's the worst experience anyone can go through and affects you for yrs after ...
Just feel they ve messed u around and not solved sod all xx

amysmummy12345 · 15/11/2015 19:50

another day done ladies Smile felt dog rough all day, felt like i've spent the day focusing on not being sick :/ 10 weeks today... a quarter of the way there :D

LucindaE · 15/11/2015 20:39

Ican't I do hope they can help you.
Madrigal Others have said that for some reason MacDonald's can stay down - it seems that anything unhealthy has a better chance. I found it to be so of stuff like jelly and cheap ice cream, and chips, and crisps, and sips of flat coke, and Fanta too and tinned fruit and juice of tinned fruit..and ice lollies too, of course.
Reebok I do hope you escape Train Puking. You are very brave facing this commuting horror.
spandau Your sufferings are not trivial. Brave of you to cook after losing your breakfast.
Charlie I hope a bit better.
Iam How are things today?
amysmummyCongratulations on being a quarter of the way there. Time is passing.
squeezed I am glad ice lollies helped keep you from being admitted.
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked. I hope everyone is coping.

Nausea feeling and indesgestion have been with me all day. But managed to cook dinner and keep it down.

Its rubbish how alot of the health service sectors seem to not really care that ppl was HG are really struggling. I cant wait for the HG to be over and to look back and think thank god its past. Cant remember what it feels like to be normal.

Reebok · 16/11/2015 08:01

Hi all, on way to work. Just a bit nauseous so far so fx won't be so awful today.

Wishing you all a better day. X

amysmummy12345 · 16/11/2015 08:22

Morning reebok hope you managed to get a seat this morning!! I find I'm not too bad first thing, it hits me about 9 with the nausea Confused still have the bile run as soon as I get out of bed though... I've developed a bit of a phobia of getting out of bed coz I know what's coming... Hate the weekend ending as hubby isn't around to help with DD, she just stands in the bathroom doorway shouting "what you doing mommy? You ok mommy?" As I wretch Sad hope today goes well for you, you still just doing mornings? X

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 16/11/2015 08:42

Hope today goes well and you have a seat reebok , thinking of you! I've not dropped my latest sick note off and had a shitty letter from HT so need to try drop it off today.
amys these LOs don't miss anything do they?! The bile is just horrible, hope the nausea doesn't hit you too bad.
Charlie hope the meal stayed down in the end?
spandau,Mop,lucinda, barmee, eallison, shoop hope you all have a good day sorry if I've missed anyone my memory is terrible.

amysmummy12345 · 16/11/2015 08:50

Icant it's amazing how many employers have such a lack of empathy/compassion, especially how bad you've had things Sad hope things start picking up for you xx

CharlieHamer1985 · 16/11/2015 09:26

Amys - Know that feeling. Does make it easier wen OH is home to help with lil one.

Reebook - Hope u continue to feel ok. I remember getting train to work in my 1st pregnancy and it was awful. I actually fainted whilst standing as couldnt get seat and ppl just walked over me.

Food stayed down last nite. Not too bad this morning. Havent attempted eating yet. Have managed to take some tablets and a cup of tea. Am currently laying im bed with my LO watching cartoons and playing games on the bed with him. Hes been upp since 6am and usually goes for an hours nap somewhere between 9 and 10am. How are you today ICant?

Hope everyone has a better start to the day.

amysmummy12345 · 16/11/2015 09:29

Charlie that's awful that they walked over you!!! I envy you being able to drink tea, I've gone totally off tea and I love it.. Was same with dd... X

amysmummy12345 · 16/11/2015 09:54

Lady on another thread asking about acupuncture for sickness and another poster suggested ginger nuts as acupuncture is a waste of time Confused ... Ginger nuts are obviously a much more medically renowned cure WinkWink

CharlieHamer1985 · 16/11/2015 10:03

Amys i only been able to tolerate tea in the last week and a half. I can only take 2 cups otherwise i do get sick. Found it does settle my acidy stomach a bit and has helped clear gunk in my throat from viral infection. I look foward to the day hg stops and i get an appetite back. In my 1st pg after 22 weeks it was bliss as i felt great from then on until about 35 weeks. From 35 weeks i had bad indegestion, backache and couldnt sleep. But still rather that than this part! Im 16 weeks 2moro.

amysmummy12345 · 16/11/2015 10:16

Moms trailed off about week 17ish with Amy, hoping its sooner, only 10 weeks!! X

amysmummy12345 · 16/11/2015 10:22

Tut mine* not moms lol

spandau1980 · 16/11/2015 10:25

I'm drinking tea as only drink I can now have that I know is easy and painless to vomit
Gone off everything else due to seeing it in reverse

I hated the thought of it til about 2 weeks ago though

15 weeks plus 4 and still have a stomach that has no lid to it ... sloshing drink amd food around like a washing machine ...
Tired already
My iron lvels are low already but can't stomach any tablets so be same as each pregnancy ... anemia ahoy lol

LucindaE · 16/11/2015 11:26

Charlie I am shocked. What is the matter with people? How could they face themselves in the mirror after acting like that?
Congratulations on those who can drink tea now. That is progress. I hope it is the sign of the turnabout coming. Glad at least Reebok got a seat and no Train Vomits.
amysmummy Sorry to hear about bile runs. What a way that is, to start the day. This seems to happen to some women even if they take the meds and lie in bed half an hour - the minute they get up; it's not fair...
Acupunture helped me wonderfully, and I think does help everyone a bit. But it's so expensive; it ought to be on the NHS for Hyperemesis.
This ginger biscuits nonsense! Trying to stop Hyperemesis by eating ginger biscuits is like trying to stop a herd of rampaging elephants with a pea shooter.

So morning was going gr8. Went to eat some toast and have had a terrible gagging sessions. Luckly my LO is have his mid morning nap.

Not much suprises me anymore Lucinda when it comes to compassion from others. I had gastic bypass surgery 5yrs and 4 months ago. I lost 11 stone. In the space of 2 years i fainted 5 times (all in public places). Each time doctors said it was either dehyration or low blood sugar. I cant tolearate lots of sugar otherwise it makes me sick. Of those 5 times, once i was with my aunt who came to my assistance and one other time a stranger helped me. The rest ppl just ignore you.

Reebok · 16/11/2015 15:41

Charlie that's awful! Some people are honestly horrible.

Icant how are you getting on? Everyone else?

Well I had to run racing out the room this morning mid maths session to vomit. Luckily there was a lovely TA in the room to cover. Feeling really nauseated now. Everyone keeps suggesting the dreaded g word at work. Makes me want to scream I have hyperemesis not damn morning sickness! And if one more person says to me I know exactly how you feel. I was sick too...oh did you have hyperemesis? The answer...oh no but I felt sick a few hours a day and went off tea. Erm yes...you know exactly how I feel!

I just want it over and to feel normal again. It's evident I just can't leave the house or I will feel sick.
