I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

amysmummy You poor thing. Well done for battling on feeling so bad. I meant to say - sorry to sound bossy, but I'm assuming you have had it yourself or are immunised if poor LO might have chicken pox?
Corabell So glad to hear you are a bit better.
I wonder what that deleted message said? Was it only someone doing a survey, or abuse?

OP posts:
Corabell · 14/11/2015 11:44

The deleted message was some spammy nonsense written in capital letters.

amysmummy12345 · 14/11/2015 11:48

Thanks for asking Lucinda, had it as a kid xxx

eallison88 · 14/11/2015 12:15

iam I love the postcard thing! How lovely. I'm glad you're able to see lovely things like that to do, even when struggling so much! Also glad the egg and toast seems to be staying put!

madrigal sorry about the tough night and glad that you're feeling better this morning!

Hoping everyone is coping today. Gentle hugs to all.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 14/11/2015 18:46

Just a quick update, should be home soon having a home care team come out 4x a day to give me things IV as things aren't settling down and all this really affecting me psychologically so I'm quite lucky. Only temporary though until the lupus and ahah under control.
Wish you could all have it, will have a proper read through and catch up when I'm feeling a bit better, sorry I've not been around much or replied :(

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 14/11/2015 18:46

Lupus and HG

spandau1980 · 14/11/2015 19:08

I think you are very brave cont with the pregnancy
I couldn't do it ...
Wishing you all the best healing hugs and prayers I can and really longing to hear you start to manage some better days for your own sanity...

Xxxxxx

MotherofPearl · 14/11/2015 19:16

Icant, I'm so pleased that they're working on a proper solution. Home care sounds good: you can have IV and regular medical attention but still be at home and see your family, especially your DS. I really admire your bravery and strength.
How is everyone else this evening? Iam, Amys, Charlie, Madrigal?
I went shopping this afternoon as not been in ages, and poor DS was desperate for a winter coat, needed various other bits. Total nightmare, so busy and loud and stressful, made me so much worse, have felt awful since I got home. Did treat myself to a little gender-neutral outfit for this baby though. I know it's a bit soon to be buying stuff but it helps it to feel more real. I folded it up in my chest of drawers and plan to get it out to look at whenever I need cheering up from feeling sick. I'm off to bed soon I think.

Reebok · 14/11/2015 19:21

icant I'm glad you're finally getting the support you need. Hopefully the home care and ivs will help you to keep something down. You are so strong. Thoughts are always with you. Praying you have better days soon.

Sorry to hear others are suffering so badly. Hugs to you all.

Today hasn't been awful. I think because I've literally stayed indoors and done absolutely nothing...have really needed a lazy day after the tough week at work. DD is already asleep so I'm in bed too.

Ems10000 · 14/11/2015 19:46

icant glad you are going home, I hope that that, along with home treatment, makes you feel much better. Glad you are having a better day reebok, rest definitely helps!

shoopshoopsong · 14/11/2015 20:09

Another one to say well done icant and am so glad your finally getting some home care I really hope it makes a difference and thins settle for you soon.

My mornings are worse than my afternoons at the moment but I daren't say that out loud incase some one tells me it's just morning sickness! Toddler has been super cute to me recently lots of hugs and kisses, I think he is noticing the changes in childcare if nothing else.

Buying an outfit is a lovely idea mop I have a notebook I write down baby names ideas and look at that when I need a boost

LucindaE · 14/11/2015 20:17

Ican't I am so relieved that you are getting home IV at least for a time.
I temporarily took over a US Hyperemesis support thread to help out a friend and learnt on it that home IV is quite common in the states, but only under the private health care plans. Ondansetron seems to be prescribed more commonly there under the schemes, too.
Madrigal Glad you're a bit better this morning.
Corabel Ah, that's what it was. These spammers are a pest. I wonder if it was somebody trying to sell ginger? I wouldn't be surprised.
Waves to lovely EMS eallison spandau * Iam amysmummy Reebok and everyone.
There's one good thing about having Hyperemesis in the winter. You don't miss out on lovely weather. It is awful out there, anyway in Wales. Gales and pouring rain. "shoop* I suffered worst in the mornings, too. Isn't it because of a hormonal surge in the night, or some such thing? Poor Lo sounds cute.
MotherofPearl Congratulations on shopping. This time of year, it can be a nightmare. Sweet about the outfit.

I had a better day today, which I really enjoyed. Had a craving for McDonald's this afternoon, so ate about half a cheeseburger, and it stayed down. Weird. I can't actually remember the last time I ate in a McDonald's! HmmShockGrin

Icant glad you'll be at home.

Hope everyone else has a gentle night. I'm off to bed - my trip to maccy d's has wiped me out!

CharlieHamer1985 · 14/11/2015 21:22

I cant - much nicer for you to be at home and getting some help! Mop - Good idea to get some outfits to remind you, that your pregnant. I havent yet but probally will soon.

This morning in terms of hg wasnt bad but this stupid viral infection is doing me in sore nose, throat and eyes and a chesty cough. Have managed to keep food down but stomach still feeling unsettled and felt sick with severe indegestion paying when eating despite now being on Ranitidine. Finally found some energy to do some housework today as the mess thats built up was really getting to me. My mother in law had my son today from 10am til 7pm which was a big help.

LucindaE · 14/11/2015 21:30

Charlie Sorry to hear you've got a virus. Just what you don't need.

Thank you for your kind words spandau, MoP, reebok, Ems, Lucinda, Shoop, Mardigarl, Charlie

I may have been excited a bit too early, I've just arrived home and been informed the only thing the acute team can give to me IV is the antibiotics for the next few days so it's now down to me to keep hydrated and have just cyclyzine (been taken off ondansatron!) even though I'm still vomiting and antibiotics make me vomit... Review on Thursday and I can see myself back in. Confused
slaps self for not positive thinking Blush

eallison88 · 15/11/2015 08:05

Why have they taken you off ondansetron? I'm gutted they're not iv-ing antiemetics; I was just thinking how forward thinking your care team were! I would cut up stroppy of I were you, and demand the ondansetron back (unless there's a bloody good reason why not!). At the very least you need something more than just cyclizine; that's entry level meds and you do not have entry level sickness.

iamdivergent · 15/11/2015 08:07

Oh no icant that's not good. I hope you manage as well as you can, it's a nightmare when you expect one thing but get another iykwim. I'm not long up, have just taken my tablet and am waiting a half hour to have my breakfast - feeling very retchy atm Confused and didn't sleep well either.

MotherofPearl · 15/11/2015 08:39

Icant, have they given up on the steroids too then? Seems really unrealistic to expect you to cope with cyclizine only. I thought they'd be doing all your meds via IV, and also IV rehydration as needed. Really hope you're OK.
I'm 15 weeks today. Feel like I've been pregnant and sick for decades! At least I do feel that the very worst bit is behind me. Hope everyone has a tolerable day.

MotherofPearl · 15/11/2015 08:45

Ps. Hope you manage some breakfast Iam. I'm in bed allowing mine to settle.
Pps. Lucinda I saw that spam message on Friday. Somebody offering fertility 'herbs' and giving out dodgy sounding names and email addresses! They picked the wrong thread, given that we're all already pregnant, or have been! When it disappeared I thought maybe you'd reported it to MNHQ. At least they've gone away now!

squeezed · 15/11/2015 11:57

What an awful time you are having. It does just seem to go on and on.

I've now got promethazine to take at night as well. It really knocked me out and helped me to sleep. There were discussions about me being admitted but I started keeping ice pops down and some crackers so the worst of it had passed. I'm back to dry heaving more which is much better so I'm not dehydrated. Hopefully it was just a blip (trying to be optimistic).

amysmummy12345 · 15/11/2015 12:37

Squeezed that's just how I am... Made a fatal error of taking the Avomine yesterday morning instead of before bedtime, it hit me like a bus about midday and passed out from drowsiness, slept for about four hours... Felt groggy ever since Confused

spandau1980 · 15/11/2015 13:12

Trying to cook a meal for the family at the moment after hurling my brekkie up sob sob

icant
I would demand iv anti emetics or stay put in hospital
Dam ridiculous

amysmummy12345 · 15/11/2015 13:23

Spa day you're so brave, I haven't cooked for about five weeks Confused
