I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Have you been around any little kids .. slap cheek I'm thinking ? Has it gone off now shoop ?
Tbh could be a lot of things .. if it goes away and appears only after vomiting u wouldn't worry as I get red dots all under my eyes from burst blood vessels from stress of vom

LucindaE · 13/11/2015 18:37

squeezed any news about new treatment. As below, I hope it was the way you'e meant to count for Hyperemesis, nine heaves, not nine separate vomiting sessions.
Ican't I hope they have it a bit more under control.
Madrigal Hope you're a bit better.
MotherofPearl How are things with you?
Reebok What louts. As my OH would say, 'no respect'. That's really shocking. It was very brave of you to face public transport.
TwoDrifters Thanks for encouraging message. I'm sorry you still feel awful every morning, but I am glad that it has improved. Grin Great that was your last day at work. I remember flapping and clucking when you would go back - how many weeks ago was that?
shoop How are things now? amysummy?
waves to lovely OnceaMeer('a rose, by any other name') and lovely eallison. Back soon. Apologies if I've cross posted impolitely overlooked anyone.

spandau and meant to ask if migraine pains have settled down?
shoop About the rash, I remember all sorts of recurring rashes to add to the fun, so tend to suspect it's not serious.

Icant you poor thing. You are in the best place though and as others have said ds will forget this. Hugs.

Squeezed get yourself to a+e! 9 times can't be good!

Two haha! I wouldn't have the guts! I'm a right chicken.

Listen to this...went to pick up meds and the pharmacist and his assistant are chatting...she's been on this medication a long time. Can't we give her cyclizine instead? She can't still need it. The pharmacist then asks me, can you cope without ondansetron? I said well clearly not...unless you expect me not to eat or drink anything! I was furious!

Reebok · 13/11/2015 18:52

Shoop not sure about the rash. Maybe get it checked to be safe.

spandau1980 · 13/11/2015 19:45

What a cheek! Is he ur doc now is he!
Idiot
We don't take things for the fun of it mate ... grrrrrr ... poor u reebok

Reebok · 13/11/2015 19:49

Exactly! If my doctor can see I need it I don't understand who he is to question it.

I feel terrible. Forgot it's my wedding anniversary! We are not celebrating until I'm better anyway.

MotherofPearl · 13/11/2015 20:02

I had a similar thing last time I collected my Ondansetron Reebok: I overheard the pharmacist ringing up some higher up pharmacist to OK his giving me the meds 'even though she's pregnant'! I braced myself for a fight but they handed it over eventually. It is infuriating! If there's ever a problem in future I plan to bring out the speech Ealli gave her pharmacist!
Lucinda, thanks for asking, I'm OK thanks. Only 1 vom today, so apart from the nausea I can't complain. I'm beginning to feel a bit of a fraud tbh, I'm so much better than I was. But not sure how much of that is down to meds.

MotherofPearl · 13/11/2015 20:05

PS. Congratulations on your anniversary Reebok, even though you're in no state to celebrate. Hope you have a really good rest tonight after your week of work.

Reebok · 13/11/2015 20:06

Ooh I'd like a copy of that speech Mop! Don't feel like a fraud. I think a lot is down to the fact ondansetron is working. It's meant to help you resume a slightly more normal life. I know without it I can't cope. There have been moments I've taken it at the wrong time and I've also tried to cut down only to feel/be sicker again. It's likely to be the same with you. The only problem is now I have a fear of coming off them.

Reebok · 13/11/2015 20:08

Thanks Mop. Oh has brought me an ice cold fanta as I texted him this morning complaining that I was craving it but only the ones you find in a glass bottle so he's gone and found me one. And I'm sat here having sips while sitting on a hot water bottle to sooth my sciatic pain. Check me out...I'm a party animal!

MadrigalElectromotive · 13/11/2015 20:17

Yes, congratulations on your anniversary reebok! Hope you are able to have a wonderful celebration once you are feeling more human.

Am so angry about that pharmacist - no one would take all of these drugs unless they had to. Argh! So fed up with the implication that a positive mental attitude and some ginger will sort out hg.

Have had a bad day here and now got a banging headache. Have kept fluids down but daren't try any food.

shoopshoopsong · 13/11/2015 20:31

Happy anniversary reebok! Hope you can celebrate with no voms.

Have decided to ignore rash unless it gets worse.

shoopshoopsong · 13/11/2015 20:35

I and MoP a few weeks ago I felt like that til I ran out of ondansetron for one day.. Haven't been the same since so please stay on it unless you really get a lot better.

Saying that, i managed a whole day on my own with DS today which I haven't in ages. The morning was terrible but the afternoon ok

CharlieHamer1985 · 13/11/2015 20:48

What a crappy day! Was up at 5am as laying down when you have a blocked nose makes breathing harder.Throat is so sore. Then since lunch time my stomach has felt so unsettled. Tried to eat some biscuits and bought them up. Had a bit of dinner and my stomach feels like its thinking about bringing it back up. On so many tablets at the moment for various stuff. Feel like my body is out to get me. Had someone say to me today its mind over matter. Maybe they should be sick constantly for 3 months and counting. Just read back through the last few posts and agree doctors tend to be better at helping than midwifes. Bloody chemist Reebok they shouldnt question it if you have a prescription. Sorry to hear that some of you are feeling more terrible.

eallison88 · 13/11/2015 20:52

reebok and all, pharmacists can few difficult sometimes. I had forgotten about my little speech. It worked tho!

Wondering about icant and hoping she's okay.

mop glad you're having a better day :)

twodrifters good to hear from you. Hurrah on last day of work. I'm glad the sicknesshas eased in the latter stages; it seems that most women find relief in the latter stages.

Hi lucinda and onceameer!

Another day nearly done all! Those of you who can go to bed; go! One day closer to cuddles with baby. I write this lying on my sofa with baby asleep on my chest. It really is all worth it (even when they scream at you!).

eallison88 · 13/11/2015 20:56

Oh, and the old 'mind over matter' nonsense makes me want to scream! I think it annoys me more than the ginger nonsense. No one would even dream of saying such a thing to someone with any other illness (a broken leg, diabetes, blood poisoning etc) so how can they think it's appropriate/helpful/supportive to say it to a woman fighting HG. Grr!

amysmummy12345 · 13/11/2015 21:17

Evening all! Another day done, only done two days at work but feel like I've run a marathon! Not been to bad today at work but find the minute I stop the nausea hits me like a ton of bricks then the dry heaving kicks in Confused I feel I'm fairing a lot better than some of you, my lil one had the diahorrea yesterday and now I think she might be coming down with chicken pox... It never rains but it pours eh?!

Hello everyone I am still here. Looking at a screen was making my nausea worse so I had to go offline and stare into the middle distance.

The good news is that I am considerably better than a week ago but still on ondastraron, stemitil and signed off work. I'm very weak and lack stamina which could be from the HG, pregnancy in general or a symptom of my hypothyroidism.

I'm sorry for all the difficulties faced especially with the bloody ginger suggestions!!!

Ems10000 · 13/11/2015 22:32

Sorry to read that so many are having issues when collecting their prescriptions. As if we don't all feel bad enough without pharmacists adding to the guilt. In my first pregnancy I took metoclopromide tablets up to 16 weeks but this time around I took ondansetron until my son was born. I even took them to hospital just in case I still felt ill after giving birth! Someone on here mentioned having no gallbladder, I had mine removed last year, I wonder if that could be why my second pregnancy was so much worse HG wise. I had my final midwife visit today, she kept asking me if I was sure I was feeling ok - I think she thought I might be overcompensating but I explained that after 9 months of feeling poisoned I feel amazing, even if I'm only getting a few hours sleep! Another day over everyone, hope tomorrow is better for everyone.

spandau1980 · 14/11/2015 09:13

Did they tell kate Middleton to eat some ginger NO
Charlotte bronte died of HG !
Apparently up until 1960s it was believed morning sickness was due to a woman's nerves !!!

Anyone gives.me any sort of speech I say did you have it bad then? NO ???? then don't question my actions

iamdivergent · 14/11/2015 09:34

Just when I thought I was picking up I had a horrible night last night. Went to bed early as normal but kept waking up dry heaving and wih watery mouth. I wasn't sick thankfully but it really made me fear that I was going to be. Don't think it helped that DH was on a work night out and didn't arrive back home until 3am!

Slept in until 8 and had been dreaming about egg and toast so I had that for breakfast (1 egg whisked in a cup done in the microwave and 1 piece of toast) it's sitting nicely thank goodness. I haven't actually went sick since Wednesday but the exhaustion is worrying me as I am due back to work Monday! Flu jab on Wednesday mid morning too so I'll need to leave work for that as well, they're going to think I'm taking the piss I reckon. Called the Dr yesterday to see if they'd get dr to add the metoclopramide onto repeat for me, receptionist said to call back Monday afternoon to see if he's agreed if not I'll need to go in and see him (was a locum who prescribed) but I really feel that these are working well for me, shame about the nausea still kicking around!

Had my booking on thursday, mw was lovely. Won't see her again til 16wks tho which is an age away! Scan on 7th December, think we're going to get little Christmas postcards made up similar to attached to tell people. I'm 8+3 today.

Hope everyone is coping as well as they can be.

After being up heaving in the night, I am feeling a bit better this morning, thank goodness.

Iam, love the postcard idea! Hope you feel better soon.

LucindaE · 14/11/2015 11:34

Sorry about horrible days and horrible nights heaving, and Reebok Sorry to hear of insensitive, indiscreet remarks from pharmacists and their assistants.
Iam I love those postcards.
spandau Ah, yes, poor Charlotte Bronte had TB, like her sisters Emily and Anne, and as with the Hyperemesis she couldn't eat for weeks, the TB flared up and killed her, poor woman; no treatment for either then.
EMS Lovely to hear from you, feeling like a differrent person.
Waves to all.
