Hyperemesis Support

I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Urgh the bile sounds bad Madrigal. I couldn't work out why I'm not bringing any up bit I think it's because I had my gallbladder removed. It would also explain all the heaving. Another day off today after dealing with a crisis at work; this is neverending.

LucindaE · 11/11/2015 11:33

squeezed I don't know which is worse, bile or what they call in the US 'dry heaving'. That work crisis sounds wearring. Was that by phone?

squeezed · 11/11/2015 11:47

I know what you mean. I made it into work but a client was in crisis, so I worked flat out later than I wanted. Supposed to be on phased return but it just isn't possible at times. Then 45 minutes to get home, lovely dh came to pick me up so I didn't have to get public transport

bugista · 11/11/2015 12:05

So sorry to hear you're having rough days amys and madrigal. Iam glad you kept down the cereal, let's hope today is a bit better for you. Good luck with your scan today amys.

Ealli that's so lovely about your little'un being a big'un! It's such a relief to hear he's thriving despite all you suffered, there's hope for us all!

Thanks for putting up the dates lucinda! Lovely to see everyone slowing inching closer to pink castle.

Ugh, that doesn't sound like a phased return to me squeezed you poor thing.

I vommed this morning and am feeling nauseous, I think my cold is making everything a bit worse. Am off on hols tomorrow for 10 days though to visit my parents. Am v excited as will just be able to relax but have to get there first...12 hours on a plane. Will be taking sick bags! xx

spandau1980 · 11/11/2015 12:11

I've no g bladder and that's making bile and acid reflux 10 x worse :(
I think it's lovely eallison is still on the thread encouraging everyone.. another mother hen in training ??Wink

Been to toddler group for first time in months this am. Lovely to see everyone. Ppl were like you ve lost weight.. then I explained lol they also thought I'd be abducted by aliens.

I don't know how ladies who suffer from hyperemesis cope, I really don't.

I'm about 8 weeks at the moment, and only being sick in the morning currently, but I feel sick constantly and it's awful. Doing anything is just such a struggle.

I have so much respect (and bags of sympathy) for ladies who suffer so much during their pregnancies.

eallison88 · 11/11/2015 14:20

klaptrap hello. Hopefully you won't get much worse than the horridness you're currently suffering.

spandau I just know how valuable this board was when I was suffering and want to try to help anyone I can, even if only a little bit! I'm certainly no mother hen!

squeezed that sounds rough. Hopefully your next day in work us gentler. I work with young people and totally understand about the crisis situation; you want to do everything for your client even though you know you should be taking things gently. But please do remember to put you and baby first.

spandau1980 · 11/11/2015 15:36

After drinking some water I cane over so so sick about 1 30 been getting worse and just threw up... ffs just because I had some water !!!!!

shoopshoopsong · 11/11/2015 15:38

bugista you're so brave going away I hope you are rewarded with the wonderful rest you deserve. Best of luck for the journey tomorrow

amy how was the scan today?

MotherofPearl · 11/11/2015 15:44

How did the scan go Amys? Well I hope.
Well done for making it out to toddler group Spandau. Hope you're not too tired now from venturing out.
Bugista, how exciting about your hols! A long plane journey does not sound great, but hopefully you can make up for it by putting your feet up when you get to the other side.
Lucinda, thanks for putting up due dates. I'm now 7 May, following my scan a few weeks ago.
Ealli, you're so right about the babies thriving in spite of HG. In my previous HG pregnancy, DS's birth weight was a massive 9lb 4oz, even though I was sick right to the end!
Hope that Iam, Madrigal and everyone else feeling a little better than earlier? I tend to start the day OK and then feel progressively worse, peaking with hideous nausea and sometimes voms at about 5pm. Once I take my last dose of Ondan at about 5:30, I'm usually OK to eat dinner, provided I stick to my safe foods (no pasta!!!). Lying on the sofa now, meant to be doing some reading for my class tomorrow.

spandau1980 · 11/11/2015 16:03

I can't eat pasta either ... weird x

MotherofPearl · 11/11/2015 16:19

And I can't drink water either Spandau. It revolts me and comes straight back up. I'm finding sparkling elderflower OK, or hot chocolate made with boiling water.

Reebok · 11/11/2015 16:35

Hi all, sorry not been on much. Work is taking it out of me. Today has been hard but slightly better than yesterday as only one Vom. Just constant nausea from around 11am. I've almost made it through the week. 16 week app tomorrow and officially 16 weeks on Friday. Can feel baby more now and bump is growing which I find so strange. Had an awful pain across my bump today. Think it's because I've not been able to drink much since starting back at work.

Sorry to hear so many are suffering...especially IcAnt and spandau. Fx you have better days ahead.

Mop I say just relax and sod the reading! I'm so glad I've been taken out of class. Don't have to plan or assess. Mark the work I'm covering and I'm done. No stupid early hours anymore or late finishes.

Bugista enjoy your trip you brave thing!

Amy hope the scan went well!

Sorry to anyone I've missed but here's a big wave to you all.

Ahh...to feel normal again. By this time in my last pregnancy I was coping a lot better than I am now. Oh is getting the snip! I'm done!

Reebok · 11/11/2015 16:37

By the way lucinda thanks
for putting up the dates...mine has also changed to April 29th following my scan.

OnceAMeerNotAlwaysAMeer · 11/11/2015 16:40

Hi Klaptrap and welcome. Do hope you feel better soon. It's worth asking your doctor about cyclizine - it's extremely safe and it does help some people quite a bit.

No gall bladder ... ouch :(

also waiting to hear how the scan was!

MadrigalElectromotive · 11/11/2015 16:44

I am still feeling vile. Thinking about just getting into bed and giving up on today.

My due date is 2nd June - feels like an absolute eternity!

I have been drinking weak lime juice cordial - retro, but it stays down better than anything else!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 11/11/2015 16:51

I'm now 11th may Smile

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 11/11/2015 16:51

Sorry only quickly passing through rough day and lots to catch up on here, I'll try later when (or hopefully) I'll be feeling better x

lemonslemonslemons · 11/11/2015 16:55

Pasta! I can't eat pasta either! Can handle tomato soup although doesn't help the acid problems.

I am SO constipated. Prunes and Fybogel make me vom. Any other suggestions? Hope you don't mind but I have added myself to the list

MotherofPearl · 11/11/2015 18:02

Lemons, as regulars on the thread know, I relied for some time on glycerol suppositories from Boots to deal with the constipation. Once you get to a certain point it's no good taking laxatives as they make no difference; unfortunately you have to tackle things from the other end. Blush Poor Reebok relies on enemas, which is not uncommon for those on Ondanestron. Good luck!

amysmummy12345 · 11/11/2015 18:48

Hi all! Scan went well, turns out I'm only 9 weeks 3 days so get to have another scan in three weeks ?? I'm still none the wiser as to what my due date is though ?? is anyone else 9+3 that I can go from? I'm just too lazy to work it out on a calendar lol hope everyone is managing today, another day done ladies!!! Xxx

spandau1980 · 11/11/2015 19:15

I'm now may 5th ... :)
I was bang on my dates at the scan 13 wks plus 1 "don't make me any less" I said and she said babies measuring 13 +1 lol

MotherofPearl · 11/11/2015 19:36

Glad to hear all went well with your scan Amys. I guess they'll finalise your due date at your 12 week scan.
Rough evening with a nasty acid vom. Just waiting for DD to be dropped off after Brownies so I can put her, and then myself, to bed. DP out tonight, which though it means more work for me, is a relief tbh. Makes me feel less guilty about all the extra stuff he's been doing at home.

iamdivergent · 11/11/2015 19:54

Checking in...I have fingers and toes crossed not been sick today. I've been retching alot but managed to hold it in thus far. Had dinner nearly 3 hrs ago so fx that is me for today, I'm thirsty but daren't have a drink.

Booking appt tomorrow after lunch so I have that to look forward to.

Hope everyone is doing OK, keeping some meals in etc

I'm due around 22nd June going by my Ovia app.

amysmummy12345 · 11/11/2015 19:55

An early night sounds amazing! I have to be up at six am to get ready for work and drag lil un to my parents so they can drop her at nursery... Enjoy some well earned rest xx
